Beautiful place, very elegant and modern ! It's located at the heart of performing art buildings such as the Lincoln Center or Juilliard School.
When you're here to see an opera, the chair in front of you has a little screen with subtitles only in English but very convenient !

Best performances I have ever seen! Soooo worth the money! Strong advice for tourists to check for cheap tickets a day before a performance. Better value for money than for a broadway or off broadway show.

If you don't watch an Opera in New York you haven't been to New York.

This is perhaps the most important company in the world, even if you think you don't like opera then the building, the atmosphere and the productions here may convince you to become an opera buff.

And if it doesn't at least you could say I have been there.

Since I got free tickets I took my Mother there and she loved it. The Met Opera house transforms you to another place a mon avis and for out of towners it is a super cool reason to come to NYC!

Saw Tosca tonight and I was in tears by the third act. This opera house that holds such history in the arts just keeps blowing me away with all these performances. The set design was so cool and it transforms you to that time period. The colors, the curtain drop, the fixtures- is just so beautiful. Vittorio Grigolo gave such an amazing performance. Leading Lady Sonya - amazzingggg. The two singers play off of one another so well and you can hear so elegantly their technique, intensity, and vulnerability. Check it out!

Probably my favorite Broadway theater. I don't know about the balcony but there is plenty of legroom the seats in the orchestra level. Also it is just a very charming place. I would also recommend stop what you're doing and go see Beetlejuice.

I recommend to visit any ABT performance, you won't regret.

Makes me nostalgic. I haven't seen Annie in the premises since Susan Sontag had expired... All the brightness and glitter have fallen away... Still like the balcony seats and the German text on the handrest of the red velvet chairs...
Still like the $6 water bottle and over priced coatcheck... Still the most down to earth staffs in the world though I feel some of them are too friendly; only opera house in the world where teenagers are allowed to enter in football jerseys, nylon shorts and sneakers.

Amazing Opera! The seats are so comfy, the space is beautiful and the quality of every performance is outstanding. La Traviata was very dramatic and I don't think there was a dry eye on the audience during the third act!

A night at the MET is always a wonderful experience. This is probably my favorite place in the city, it's just magical.. Lines at the bar at intermission can be long and drinks quite expensive (count $24-26 for a flass of sparkling wine)

Me and my family watched "Le Cosaire". The show was outstanding. Every single performer was amazing..Despite the fact that we were so high up in the balcony we loved the show. My 5 year old niece especially enjoyed her first ever experience at the ballet.

America's high cathedral of Opera, The Met is a masterpiece of modern architecture. With a seating capacity of approximately 3,800, it is the largest repertory opera house in the world. The lobby and auditorium is adorned with elaborate More

Very expensive. Forget about drinking or eating anything at the theater. $14 for a slice of ham and a little brie in a smallish bun. Parking $40 or more depending on the night. The performance was very good, though.

This place exudes class... And reminds us of the grandiose old times of New York! It's possible to get affordable tickets inside Rose which are more appropriate for children under age 10 who might want to fidget in their seats. The tickets are partial view, but you can see how Grand and inspiring the inside of the Opera House is, and the sound is excellent!

Came here for the first time to see the Firebird Ballet....very interesting. Ballet is not my thing but this opera house is INCREDIBLE! I love how massive and magnificent the stage looks when it's closed. Architecture of the building is absolutely perfect from inside and outside the theatre itself. I'm not big into theatre but it's definitely worth it to go here once!

Beautiful dancers. However, the seating, not so much. The seats are too small, the leg room is too short, there is not enough pitch in the floor so the head of the person in the seat in front of you always blocks your view. Sigh...it is less than comfortable.

Fancy building and gorgeous chandeliers don't make up for a rude, surly, horrid staff.
They treat the audience like the enemy, threatening to call security on me when, since I have difficulty walking, I wanted to sit outside the door during the intermission (I was tricked into waiting outside the hall after I asked to speak to the usher who told me to step outside). You are supposed to walk down steps to the basement to watch on a monitor)
I was really scared. I asked to speak to the house manager who was as friendly as Valdemort (Mort, death).
No consideration, no sympathy, just threats
My big sin: since there is no lighting whatsoever, I put on my cellphone for a SECOND) To check when the opera ended, so that I wouldn't miss my car service.
Skip it unless you are healthy,
can walk, and get drunk enough to ignore the staff.
Bravo, Gelb

This is the best thing New York has to offer with no like comparison in the USA. The concessions are horrible and the food is lifeless but arrive is amazing and the experience is outstanding

I greatly enjoyed visiting. I saw an opera, which was well done, and walked around the various levels of the theater during the intermissions looking at all the memorabilia. I was practically salivating at the variety of opera-related Bluray, DVD, and CDs in their store (yes, of course I got something).
