Marrin's moved our 4500 sq ft house into storage 5/2018 for 4 months. The move took longer than expected, even though we planned for 3-4 days of packing, it became extremely stressful on deadline day 5/31/18. The packing teams changed every day and no one really was in charge of making sure it was completed prior to the deadline. The last crew worked late into the evening to try to meet it.
Marrin's moved our belongings into our new home 10/2018 and the unpacking went much better. Charles Darby and Jarius Barnes were great to work with.
Our dining room hutch with beveled glass was missing (which is not replaceable), a TV/soundbar and other items. Another TV was broken. Missing surf board racks. We estimate we are due about $3,000 in lost/damaged items.
We paid $600 extra for additional insurance to protect against loss or damage. What a joke! I submitted claim forms and pictures of items 4/2019. We paid over $10,000 for moving / storage / insurance.
They sent a furniture repairman out 7/2019 to try to fix damaged furniture (wobbly tables, bent dining room leg, missing glass in end table.) He also validated the other claims on the form and asked for info to relay. The repair man's van was not working that day, so he had limited tools in the vehicle he used this day. The only thing he could repair was the stain on lexington bedroom dressers (it appeared the sun lightened portions of the wood top in certain areas on 2 dressers.) He was nice and did a great job on these 2 items.
No response since, even though we have emailed/called several times. Moving is stressful enough, but adding in the lack of urgency to meet the deadline move out date and now haggling to get reimbursed for damaged, missing, broken items is time consuming and irritating. I sent another email today, left another voicemail and am now posting this in hopes we might get a response.

Best moving experience ever! This was my first big move so I was unsure of what to expect. Not only was the moving quality superb (they handled every piece of furniture as if is was their own), but the 3 guys that moved us had the best attitudes and delivered the BEST customer service!!! As we all know, moving is a tough job, yet Bruce, Alec and Eugene moved every box and piece of furniture with a smile on their face. They were polite. They were cheerful. They were extremely professional. They even had a great sense of humor! They would not stop until we were completely satisfied and they never complained- no matter how much of a pain my sleeper sofa was to move :)
If you are moving, you definitely need to use Marrins and ask for Bruce, Alec and Eugene. I definitely will be requesting them the next time I move. I cannot imagine having a better experience!
I scheduled my move with Marrins' after the company I had scheduled my move with previously didn't work out. This left me pressed for time and Marrins' was able to get my estime, quote, and move scheduled for an inter-state move with barely 10 days notice. Every step of the move from the estimate to loading and unloading exceeded my expectations. All of my furniture and other belongings made it from NC to TX with zero loss or damage and the movers were as professional as could be hoped for. Considering they put this together on such short notice, I couldn t be more grateful for the service Marrins provided.
Please DONOT use this company to move your home! They moved me over 18 months ago and broke everything I own. Everything, then lied and refused to pay for damages. I have been engaged in a law suit now with them for over 12 months and no help in reclaiming damages. I am a disabled vet and have moved many time in my life and never NEVER received the treatment that was giving to me buy this HORRIBLE COMPANY. I have a complaint in to the attorney general of North Carolina. Also, be careful, they had so many complaints they changed their name from Marrins Movers to Marrins' Mooving... to cover up there ratings. if you use them then take out the full insurance coverage, don't let them lie and tell you its not available, thats against the law.... and my god help you.
Marrins makes moving stress free and always professional. Terry and Carl were fantastic and I appreciate the office staff as well! I will be having Marrins for my next move for sure!
Management worked with me to urgently reschedule the move date, and I am grateful they accommodated my request.
The crew led by Terry showed up on-time, worked quickly, packaged and loaded our stuff carefully, and drove to the destination safely. The movers were friendly and respectful.
There was no damage to our belongings and the move was under-quotation.
Had a great experience with Marrins Moving! Taylor and his crew were so helpful, friendly, and efficient. The price was reasonable and they went out of their way to make the move easy. Everything got from point A to point B witn no damage to the houses or the furniture. This team made my move a lot less stressful than I thought it would be. I will definitely hire them again!
Under no circumstances use this company. Save your money and belongings. They will ruin your moving experience.
In reply to the owner's post:
Will the ton of changes you are making allow you to pay the thousands of dollars in insurance claims you owe customers like myself? Even if they did, I wouldn't give your company a second chance. Having witnessed this kind of fraudulent practice, I'm surprised your company is even allowed to do business.
Marrins moving moved our things this past weekend from NC to NY and the service was excellent! The two guys who moved our belongings were very polite, fast, and treated our things with care. Can't go wrong with these guys! They had all the supplies necessary as well!!! Top notch
We are sorry we used Marrins for our recent move. They stored our belongings for 8 days until our new home closed and I suspect much damage was done loading and unloading there. A team of 4 picked up. They were late, said they were given wrong directions, but worked carefully and seemed competent. We reguested the same team deliver but didn't get them. The delivery team of 3 was not so competent. We had a rug ruined. It was rolled up and apparently pushed while standing on the side on a rough surface. Looks like an animal chewed on it. Lots of breakage on glass and ceramic items. Boxes crushex and mangled. An expensive Trek bike manhandled. Haven't submitted claim yet as not done unpacking. Oh, and delivery crew was also late, couldn't find keys to the truck. Borrowed tools, said their tools were in other truck. Final payment different from quote with no explanation. Pickup crew manually wrote out item list as they didn't have paperwork. All in all, disorganized and careless.
Worst company i ever dealt with, made our move a living hell. gave me a max quote and once all our goods were in the truck said it was more than they expected and raised the price if wanted it unloaded we had to pay their new price (extortion) Also broke multiple thing and would not do anything about it. Also items missing after move. Do not use worst company ever!!!
Damaged our floors at both houses. Damaged our very expensive smoker. Lost parts for our lawn mower. Completely disrespected my wife blaming her for scratching the floor and say we should have prepped the furniture. Nope that s what we pay you for. They are being very difficult on the repairs as well and fixing their many mistakes. Women on the phone is very rude as well when trying to get things handled. Avoid avoid avoid.
Marrins Mooving was the very best option for me when I moved from my apartment in Southpoint to my new home in Garner. Josh Oliver and Rob Marrin of Marrins Mooving are simply the best moving company around. I literally handed them my keys and when I finally got into my new home everything was unpacked and placed exactly as promised. Their crews were phenomenal and true experts of their craft. Marrins Mooving is the only way to moove! Professional, courteous and extremely careful with all my furniture. Everything they promised was delivered upon. Marrins Mooving is the only way to make your move.
They take pride in moving! But, they spell it Mooving because Marrins' has created a new standard in moving. Josh and his team are complete professionals. I highly recommend this company.
Great company with great employees...Had the pleasure of having Javahn, Kelli, and Robert help my family move our things to our new place and they were amazing to work with....Really appreciate all the help from the owner to the employees....Price was more than expected and the guys with the help of thier supervisor actually worked things out with me to come to a compromise. Will definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a professional and reputable company to help with any form of moving. Best of luck with all other works
Josh at Marrins Moving is fantastic to work with. Such customer service and his company really cares about you. If you are thinking of making a move.. ALWAYS call Josh first at Marrins. You will be glad you did.
I have worked with numerous moving companies over the past 20 years and Marrins Moving is by far very the best.
Not only were they very competitive and reasonable with pricing but the crew was superb! Our crew leader, Jeremy, and the rest of the guys were all very professional, courteous, careful and extremely hard workers. Marrin's obviously has excellent hiring standards and training and it shows in the level of service we received.
As a expecting mom in my 9th month of pregnancy, we did the full service (packing, loading, unloading and unpacking). I especially appreciated the unpacking service. Having all our stuff unpacked and trash hauled away was a HUGE help! The crew did a fantastic job by taking great care of our items, protecting our home during the unloading process and paying attention to detail. If they had questions, they asked and did not make assumptions.
If we ever need to use movers again we will definitely be using Marrins. I have high standards and I HIGHLY recommend them for all your moving needs.
Today was my second time using Marrins Mooving and I highly recommend them to anyone needing assistance with moving anything. They are excellent to work with, the moving guys are great and so accommodating. I promise you that you will not be disappointed. They are the best. Just call Josh and he'll take care of everything.
Marrins Moving helped us so much this weekend, they were on time, professional and hard working, made our move stress free, you really should allow them to serve you and move your stuff!!!
We have worked in a professional capacity with Marrins Moving for over 5 years. They are the only moving company we trust here at Linda Craft and Team, Realtors. Prompt service, careful movers and overall professionalism are the main reasons we entrust all of our buyer and seller clients to Marrins Moving.
Josh Oliver of Marrins Mooving is an expert on moving you without stress and ease. He us professional and credited. Call Josh if you have anything to move
I could not be more pleased with Marrins' Mooving. The employee who came to give me an estimate, Woody, was there when he said he would be, and worked with me to make sure my estimate was correct. The movers were also on time. I had three movers for a 1000 sq ft apartment, moving from a second floor apartment to a third floor apartment across town - neither of which have elevator access. Despite this daunting number of stairs, all of the movers remained in good spirits and treated my possessions well. No damage to anything at all, including my cheap IKEA furniture and a rickety cat tree. They even helped me disassemble my TV, pack it, and set it and my bed up before leaving. In the end the total time came out EXACTLY as the Woody estimated, which was a nice surprise.
We used Marrin s Mooving for our recent move from Raleigh out to RTP. It could not have gone smoother! They met with us and priced our move up front, showed up on time on moving day, stored our belongings for about 6 weeks and then set everything back up in our new house. Everything looks great! They were communicative and punctual at all times and the teams that moved our goods and heirlooms were top notch! Two thumbs up! Bravo!!!
Marrins' without question is the best moving company I have ever experienced. The move was absolutely seamless and stress free. From the quote to the last box being delivered it was pure professionalism and care. I felt the men treated all our items as though they were their own. I felt I could fully trust everyone a part of the process. Marrins' made the move enjoyable. I would fully recommend every person use Marrins' for your moving needs.
I've never seen a moving company be so dedicated to it's customers and employees! This is a wonderful company to do business with and they actually care about your belongings. I've had some moving companies in the past where the company didn't care about it's employees, actually hired druggies (I was scared of them knowing where I lived!) and didn't care about their customers satisfaction! I love dealing with this company and will continue to do so in my future moves.
Do not use this company. We used them to pack us, and put our belongings in storage for 7 months while our house was being built. When our belongings were delivered we had massive damage to many of our furniture items, a desk, pantry, and kitchen island were totally destroyed and had to be thrown out. Many other items were either damaged or missing. 3 weeks later we ve had no response from them. Our next step is court action.. we have moved 5 times and never had this kind of damage and incompetence. Learn from our mistake don t use this moving co.
We cannot say enough about our EXCELLENT experience with Marrins' Mooving. The first phase of a two-part move from Texas to North Carolina went PERFECTLY. Marrins' personnel communicated with us beautifully throughout (as well as with the company they engaged to pack and load in Texas). At any given time we could always directly contact the company and the driver to know exactly what was going on, which gave us great comfort. Everyone planned very effectively with us and followed through with plans, readily accommodating when circumstances necessitated adjustments or when we changed our minds. An empty truck arrived on time in Texas along with a crew that stayed energetic and motivated until the truck was full, some 10 hours later. A very full truck arrived at the destination on time, not a single item broken or misplaced. But the most important aspect of our move and our appreciation of Marrins' had to do with the enormous respect their employees -- particularly our driver, who was highly skilled and was a terrific crew manager, planner, and communicator -- showed us throughout, and that we had in return for them. In the best of times, moving a home of 25 years across the country is going to be both stressful and emotional. Marrins' made the experience positive and ENJOYABLE. We were in great hands throughout and we look forward to the final stage of the move after the house sells in Texas.
Amazing experience moving up to PA with this company. Quote was precise. Insurance was easy. Great customer service. Friendly and considerate movers who padded everything and laid out mats all over house to make sure they didn t track mud in on a rainy day. Highly recommend
I just moved and hadn t Byron and his team take care of me. Absolutely fantastic customer service. They were very respectful and worked extremely hard to make the stressful time more seamless. Would HIGHLY recommend using this company and ask for Byron. Thank you guys so much
Service and support were fine until all of our household was on the truck. Our truck broke down between pick up in Durham and destination Colorado. We expected to be notified of our delivery date but when we heard nothing we contacted the driver who gave us the news of the breakdown and he had no other info to provide like where our belongings were and who would be bringing them and when. I contacted Marrin s and it was initially suggested that I contact the van line for information. As they were supposed be working as our moving coordinator, I suggested that I expected them to be able to get that information for me. I was given another driver s name and a possible delivery date. I tried to contact the driver several times with no response. I finally reached him and he claimed no knowledge of our load. I contacted our move coordinator again via email asking how I was to be notified of progress and she did not respond at all. So on to the 800# to try to get info. No one, no one contacted me with any delay information or delivery expectations. Nothing! I did all the contacting. Lots of money spent to a company and customer service was lacking. Moving is a very stressful time and I expected at least a minimum of effort. I had considered using Best Moving Company and I wish I had.
I had a date set up for an estimate. They called and asked if I could move it later that day, which I could not. We rescheduled for Friday and then they recalled and said they couldn't do then. This normally isn't a big deal, but the guy couldn't even apologize or say "Hey, I'm sorry for the inconvenience." The other reviews looked good, but I am not impressed by their ability to keep commitments.
This is NOT a well organized company, and you should NOT give them a chance to ruin your moving experience. They are NOT worth your time or your business.
If this company moves your possessions, and everything goes smoothly, then you might save some money. However, it is a big 'IF'.
I was assigned two movers and a truck to pick up the furniture and the boxes that I have packed myself. The movers were nice guys, but they were NOT very quick on their feet, and it was obvious that neither of them had experience in this business. I would expect at least one experienced person on the team. Also, the team didn't have a toolbox with them, so I ended up lending my screwdrivers and helping them with the process of taking my beds apart. During the move they ended up breaking my washer. I was assured that the claims 'department' was going to contact me "first thing in the morning". I was NOT contacted by anyone. During that week, I called the main desk twice to see if they were going to reimburse me for the damages. Both times I was told by two different ladies that "Wendy, the operations manager, is on the other line" and that someone was going to contact me as soon as possible. No one has returned my call. Today (a week after my move) I call them again and find out that Marrins Moving has already forgotten about my move and the damages, and about providing a claims form that I could have filled out and submitted a week ago.
Please, save yourself some headache and hire real professionals.
They damaged the walls (very noticeable) during the move. 1st they tried to claim it wasn t all their fault when they learned it would be expensive; thank goodness I had dated pictures.
It took 3 months of calls, emails, and meetings with them and several contractors they hoped would side with a cheap fix but all said a patch job would be obvious and unacceptable.
They agreed to the complete repair. The contractor did a fantastic job. But I ll never get back the time wasted.
I started working for this company the end of July . This company had no female packers prior. So I was hired on with another lady just to pack . I was so excited to work for them and NEVER have I ever called off . It was peak season so I was very excited and eager to work. I did about 2 pack jobs and then Everytime I Went into work they would send me home while sending the MEN out to pack . These men are smoking marijuana, tobacco (on the trucks with customers stuff on it ) and not showing up to work and yet these men are still allowed to work when they feel like it . Fast forward it is now October and I haven t had work in 3 months nor is my supervisor texting me back telling me if I can come in or not .I have not been fired (because they have no reason to do so), I have just been ignored . I have not done ANYTHING to this buisness but try and be the best worker possible . THIS IS DISCRIMINATION. I 10000% would not recommend this buisness
Terrible experience, horrible customer service. We moved in November 2018 and just now (June 11, 2019) we finally got part of our insurance claim back. The move itself was ok, wouldn't say good though. The moving guys all smelled like marijuana and it took them forever to make an inventory list. This list was never cross checked at our new place which resulted in missing items. We filed a claim a week after our move and never got a reply back. When I called they said they couldn't open the file so I emailed it again. Then I was told by the general manager that we didn't purchase the additional insurance coverage, but we did. This was supposed to cover all loss or damage. Finally, on February 26 (after numerous calls and emails) we received the check in the mail. We were extremely disappointed with the amount granted especially with the reasons given why some of the amounts were not granted. One item was completely missing for example but was not granted. An expensive desk was damaged by the crew because they screwed on the top way too tight. The desk was worth $870.- and they only granted $250.-. I emailed right away and got a message back on March 3rd that they would look into this. And then silence. So I called and was granted a second check (still not covering the total amount claimed though). After months of waiting, I emailed again and got an apology saying there was an accounting error and the check had not been mailed out. It would go out right away. But one month later, no check. So I had to call them again and again there was some kind of error. We finally got the second check now and I am just relieved that this is over. I would never recommend this company to anyone. They are a pain to deal with and very unprofessional.
Horrific experience. Never again. First the estimate was totally wrong as a result not enough boxes, truck too small and it took 2 days instead of 1. During the move which was 10 minutes away, some pieces of furniture were damaged and a backyard deck box completely ruined. A cherished sculpture was broken because it was not in a box as it should have been. A wine decanter was found in pieces, unwrapped in the middle of a dish box. The banister in my new house was damaged but they did not care - normal wear and tear as per one of their guy. When they installed the mirror on the chest-a-drawer in the master bedroom they used their screws (they had lost the original ones) and their screws went through and through splitting the beautiful wood around the mirror - a catastrophe. After 3 months no answer to our claim. All in all I will never recommended them.
Professional!!!! That's the first word that comes to mind. Josh and his team do an excellent job. I highly recommend Marrins Moving!!! you will not be disappointed. Thanks Josh for what you guys do in the community as well! Two Thumbs up
I am currently deployed and hired marrin s moving to move my family into a new home while I am gone. Communication was not there, a 3.7 mile drive took the truck over an hour. When my wife returned to the apartment there was a good deal of belongings left in the apartment and some items left outside. The invoice she received did not reflect the deposit and she was told she would receive a call with updated amount, instead they charged our card without our authorization for the full amount. Extremely disappointed.
Marrins' Moving company moved our belongings from our last home when it sold two months ago, carefully stored our possessions, and moved them to our new home last week. Good communication, on-time, courteous, cautious and focused on task. All possessions were accounted for and in good condition. When the trucks pulled up and the five young men hoped out, I thought the Green Bay Packers were coming in for a visit. No lack of muscle and power here. Special shout-out the moving team: Oscar ('The Boss'), Ray ('Big Smooth'), Tyrone ('All-Business, All-the-Time), Dre ('Dr. Dre') and Deonte (Ray's Protege'). Great team, Oscar's crew made moving joyful and fun. Highly recommended!
Marrins Mooving the BEST!! Don't waste time shopping around, just go with Marrins. We had a flawless move from Cary to Southport. Starting with Rob & Mike on the initial moving bid and schedule. Then, the move with team leader, Jeremy and his crew, including master-packer Charles. Very professional, experienced, and hard-working; didn't evern want to stop for a lunch break. Once they decided to take a break, after I got them sandwiches, they returned to work in about 20-minutes. Marrins Mooving, you won't be dissapointed.
Daniel, Nathan, Fermin, and Abel were amazing. They moved everything in our old house out and into the new one. They took great care of everything and even got the job done in the rain. I would absolutely use this company and their services again. Thank you so much for making our move easier. We appreciate your hard work!
Not only did they mix all my boxes when packing (clothes with dishes) They failed to deliver some things (whole ladder), they broke a vase that I cannot replace. Then they damaged my floor. It has been since 1/13/2018 since they moved me and I still have not seen reimbursement. Was promised to here back and heard nothing. Will never use nor will I refer....you will pay top dollar for craigslist service. Oh...and this was only a 7 mile move
Let the buyer beware. Do NOT take the higher quality insurance because it is NO insurance at all. In my case you don't even get a response to claims. Save your money!
I rarely give one star in any review I write, but in this case I must. I moved two homes into one using Marrins' Moving. I had a good experience with the guys who moved our belongings and I paid on the spot - no questions asked. There were a couple of dings here and there, but that happens. I did find that an 8' ladder was missing after the move and a canvas painting had been torn. I brought these two issues to the attention of Marrins' and they asked us to submit a claim and said they would be happy to take care of it. That was back in May 2019 and it is now November and not only have they not taken care of the claim, they continue to tell us the check is in the mail. How much is the claim? It is for a whopping $80.00 for the ladder and we are out of luck on the painting, which we had for years, because they won't cover its replacement. The $80.00 for the ladder is not the issue, it is the way they treat their customers. The check is in the mail! I called three times to talk with Tammy, who I believe is the owner, and "she is in a meeting" and has never given me the courtesy of a return call.
The only reason I am writing this review is to say that it is unfortunate that a company will not take care of an $80.00 claim and loss of a piece of artwork that is worth about $500.00 at most. Think about how they handle claims of much higher value.
Marrins, move my son 1 month ago, and this guys did a exceptional care of the furnitures, they are very professional and friendly with us. Daniel and team did and excellent job, My family will reccoment Marrins for you moving needs...
We have moved seven times in the last 10 years and this was one of the worst. They reassembled my daughters crib wrongly and didn't say anything, luckily I realised before I put her to bed. Our master bed was left 8inches from the wall off center in the room so we had to take it all apart to move it back into correct position. Yes they took less time than their quote but moved fewer things and my husband packed the electricals. Despite taking less time than the quote they tried to charge me more and when it was still incorrect argued that I should be happy it was less than the quote. We also saw nothing moved in the final half an hour of the move but were still charged. I let this slide as I already had to argue with the final bill. Not a great experience at all and I was really disappointed as they weren't the cheapest but seemed professional at quote.
Don't use this company. They loose your belongs and do not return calls. Every time you call about the missing items, you get standard answer that it's been escalated.
My husband and I have never used a moving company until we used Marrins' Mooving. We had a small issue with the size of the truck that we requested due to us both being in the military with tons of stuff, but the problem was fixed promptly. My husband had a great line of communication with the company while we were moving which was nice! The men who moved our furniture were very friendly and wrapped everything amazingly. Nothing in our move was broken and they were able to haul a deep freezer full of items up three flights of stairs. I was truly amazing by the hard work of these gentlemen and I appreciate all they did for us during the move. I do wish that we had someone visit our apartment before we officially booked the move, so that when we said we have TONS of items they would have realized how much. That was lack of communication on my part, I probably could have asked them to and they would have. I had just never used a moving company before, so I wasn't sure what was normal & not normal.
Overall, our experience was great. When we move into our forever home in a year or two, we will use Marrins' Moving! Thank you!
Marrins Mooving moved my wife and I from Cary, NC to Fort Collins, Co. I purchase insurance on my items through Marrins. On moving day my household items were inventoried by Marrins and loaded onto two trucks in one day. The items were put into storage at Marrins for approximately 2 months while we searched for a home in Fort Collins. Marrins was very unprofessional in giving my wife accurate information when out items would be delivered to our new address and as a result we were informed the evening before the truck arrived. Our items arrived on a North American Moving truck and my items were hastily unloaded. The next day when I returned to our new home to start unpacking. I first realized a couch was missing and then two ladders an appliance dolly and our large tv. Months later after completely unpacking I submitted a claim form to Marrins/NorthAmerican and they conveniently denied our claim. They stole or lost our items. They are dishonest and devoid of integrity. Marrins Mooving and North American if your reading this you know you lost or stole out property and I will be posting a YouTube video and taking FULL advantage of social media. Also my wife is a Veteran.
Great company. Fantastic movers! Very prompt service! I moved from Durham NC to Cary NC the move was very fast and efficient. The movers were extremely hardworking and respectful. I would recommend this company if you are looking for a team of hardworking dedicated movers to make your move as seamless as possible. - Brittney
We really enjoyed our experience with Marrins Mooving. The crew that moved us did a great job, were friendly, and professional. We chose another moving company a year earlier that was more expensive, and not nearly as customer focused. I would recommend Marrins to anyone looking for a moving company.
This is the best moving company I have ever used. These guys were amazing. I spent a lot of time looking for the best moving companies both locally and nationally. I trusted the reviews here online and was turned off by the reviews of other moving companies charging significantly over estimate or showing up late or breaking furniture.
This company was on time for pick up and drop off, they were very professional, no furniture was broken in any way. They moved me halfway across the country (NC -> Michigan) without a single issue. The final cost was not a penny over their estimate. Estimate was very competitive with other highly ranked local moving companies. Bradley and Derek unloaded in Michigan, they were absolutely fantastic.
In summary, if you were like me reading all the reviews to find the best moving company that won't overcharge, won't break your stuff, and will be on time this is the company to use.
The movers - Oscar B., Maurice T. & Charlie H. were the best on moving day! They called in advance and arrived early. The team was helpful, patient and kind, and everything went smoothly with the loading process on a very hot day. I had my own covers for my couches, and they did an excellent job wrapping the last over-sized chair. These guys were very professional. I attached a couple of photos of the large, long-distance truck and the organization on boxes and other items.
The quoting process was good, as Scott was personable and wore a mask inside my home during the COVID-19 lockdown period. The office was OK about the paperwork and emails - just be patient and follow up if needed.
I'll also note that the moving company on the delivery end was not so great, but it's probably the roll of the dice. The driver admitted that my dresser was wrapped properly by the loading company, but the delivery guys unwrapped it before moving through the door, which resulted in some minor damage. All boxes arrived. Only one loose, inexpensive patio chair was missing (which I could have prevented had I packed it in a box properly. Overall, I was satisfied given my expectations of the long haul. Good value compared to other quotes.
We hired Marrin's to move us from Cary, NC to Mooresville, NC in November 2019. We have moved many times in the past but I have to say this was the worst experience ever. They damaged so much of our furniture and most of it was beyond repair. They acted like they could care less. It has been over four months now and they still have not settled even though their insurance is supposed to pay for the damage. Tammy the owner continues to put us off and give us one excuse after another. We are now forced to turn our case over to an attorney. They dont deserve to be in business. After reading the other reviews I can see that we are not the only ones with this experience.
I used Marrin's twice in December. Once to move my elderly parents from Cary to Raleigh to an Independent Living facility, and again right before Christmas to move my wife and me from Raleigh to Cary. The first move could not have gone smoother. They were there right on time at 8am and we were done by 3pm. We were also able to get some free used wardrobe and packing boxes from them so saved a little money. I was so pleased with Johnny's crew that we requested them for our 2nd move. My wife and I moved a lot of the stuff ourselves on the second move so we did not have as much stuff to move as was on the original estimate (plus did not move the washer dryer or gym equipment). Marrin's was willing to work with us to adjust the price. While my 2nd move did not go as smooth (different crew) it still went well enough for me to recommend using them again. I would recommend Johnny's crew!! The office staff were also easy to work with and very reasonable.
It's was a very pleasant experience. The guys worked very hard and were extremely friendly. The lead mover was a great leader and kept everything on pace. I would recommend this company to a friend.
If you are looking for honest and affordable moving look no further than Marrins. They take the time to move your things responsibly and safely unlike so many other moving companies out there. I highly recommend them to anyone I know who is moving!
My short time with Marrins was a positive experience. Very nice and patience folks and respectful to my time and I can say my next move I will call Marrins Mooving and I would recommend to anyone. Many thanks Mariah
Unfortunately this was a bad move for me. The reason I gave 2 stars is because they're very nice on the phone and accommodated a short notice move. But I wish I used a different company. First issue is the rep Ken I spoke to to book my services informed me the price of full valuation coverage when I requested it, but did not inform me of the details. He also quoted me a 2hr move since it was small but it ended up taking 5 hours, costing me way more than planned. Then the moving guys scratched up my dining room table legs badly, they put major dents in my bed frame, broke my glass lampshade, "lost" my energy efficient light bulbs that I had in all lamps and ruined my brand new drill that they had to borrow from me because they forgot theirs. I emailed Ken about the issue and after not hearing back for a week called and got mailed the info to file a claim and am just now learning I have to pay a $250 deductible for my claims even though I paid full valuation. It's not even worth it to me at this point and I would not have paid for full valuation had I been informed upfront that there was a deductible. I've never paid for movers before so I dont know if that's a thing. And the movers damaged so many things with the very few items moved, that I would think twice about using this company. Very disappointed.
I have absolutely nothing negative to say about my experience with this company. Mervin and Donte were the two gentlemen who moved my stuff and my business as well as my grandma's stuff in another trip. They were absolutely fantastic to work with. They would not even take a break which they really should have (I have a lot of stuff). They worked non stop, very fast and efficient. They packed everything very carefully and nothing broke in the moving process. I have two very big mirrirs and they survived just fine. Showed up on time and before I knew it everything was at the new location with most of the day remaining for me to unpack. If I move again I will make sure to ask for Mervin and Donte. These guys are very hard working and true professionals so if they will end up moving your stuff don't forget to tip them well.
We have used their services twice now and have been extremely satisfied both times. Derek was the team lead for both moves - we specifically requested him and Cameron for our second move. Professional, cooperative, affordable - a great value for a great service!
I had an outstanding experience with the Marrin's team. They were diligent to follow up and timely with delivering an estimate and answering questions. The crew that moved us was organized, clean cut and very professional. I would hire them again anytime I move and will refer them any chance I get.
Very fast and very hard-working movers. Not a thing was damaged. All movers were very courteous. I would definitely recommend them to anyone moving, especially since their hourly rate was lower than most competitors.
Final verdict: disaster. My experience with this company was so horrendous that even almost 3 weeks out from my move, I ve barely recovered my faith in humanity. To put things into perspective: when I moved from Massachusetts to North Carolina 1 year ago, a moving company did significant packing, stopped in Virginia to get more furniture, then provided a timely and efficient delivery for $4.5k. Marrins charged me 3.5k for a move that was approximately 5 miles away from original destination. And there was some sexual harassment.
I was charged for all the packing costs for 2 apartments when the company only packed 1. For the packing material alone for two living rooms, three bedrooms worth of material, Marrins charged me $1,728. If this was for full packing, I would have understood. Since these men did not even touch the 1 bedroom apartment to pack it, this pricing is unacceptable. When you google the cost of moving material: For 1-bedroom apartment renters, buying moving boxes will cost about $61 to $85.
As for the moving day itself: the head of the team said there wasn t enough space in the truck to move everything and asked if they could leave behind all my house plants, all the stuff under my bathroom sinks, etc. The men scrambled to finish packing my apartment and though the hours spent packing is not supposed to factor into cost (the labor cost goes into the cost of the boxes)- I was double charged since they arrived at 8:30 am to pack but didn t officially move me until about 1 pm (moving cost was supposed to be $145 per hour- they counted their packing hours as well). In the afternoon, I ordered the men lunch and was trying to get my toddler to take her afternoon nap and my sister in law was in the living room with one of the crew. Earlier that day, he asked her to climb onto his shoulders to reach some water bottles and made a comment about how her weight against him felt like a nice shoulder massage. That in itself is creepy, but could perhaps seem innocuous. Once I was out of the room and she was by herself, though, he told her that when she was on his shoulders earlier it felt so good and requested that she do it again. She didn t want to think more of it and obliged... and then he requested that she move her legs back and forth against him. How could this unprofessionalism and harassment happen?
FFW: As they unloaded the truck, I saw that they actually had space to fit what they said could not fit. It took my husband three back and forth runs to our apartment to transport all of that himself. In my kitchen, they totally neglected to empty out an entire drawer of tea material, which I later brought over myself.
The unpacking process: the packing was so flimsy that I have several broken items (the first box I opened was a 3 cu box that they literally put only two items into before they stuffed with paper - without appropriate support, my magnifying two way mirror broke, since it had a lamp to bang up against during transport). You re charged for packing insurance, to get back money for anything harmed in the move... but the unfortunate thing is that the form they ve since forwarded me states that you have to keep the box and the packing material so they can inspect it to confirm fault. Who keeps all their packing boxes and paper? In order to keep my house manageable, as I unpacked each box, I collapsed it and recycled the paper... so it doesn t even seem like I have true recourse for the several items the movers damaged in this move.
I of course contacted the company to express my concerns and to say that since I wasn t provided full packing as their costs factor in, there should be some adjustment of pricing. The person I spoke to on the phone assured me that they would be able to issue a partial refund and a GM would be in contact. More than 1 week later and resounding silence.
I would not recommend this company to anyone in the RDU.
These folks lie and will damage your stuff. I had a decent size move that typically takes around 5 hours according to many other moving estimators. These folks will quote an attractive price but when it comes down to the move it took over 12 hours to complete! I have a family with two young children that had to endure a simple move turn into a nightmare all day process! On top of that the incompetent movers damaged a bunch of my expensive items! When speaking to several managers they pressure you to pay in order to process claims, DO NOT PAY and TAKE THEM TO COURT! Better yet DO NOT USE THEM! Worst moving experience ever!
My wife and I were very pleased with the service provided by Marrin s Mooving ( MM ). From the initial consult and quote, MM was the most professional of the moving companies we worked with very detailed and organized. When we saw their quote was in-line with other companies, it was an easy choice to use them.
On packing and moving day, the guys on the MM crew were great. Extremely polite, professional and friendly. They worked hard all day and always had a smile on their face when you spoke to them. Our things were well packed and everything arrived in great shape.
We highly recommend Marrin s Moving. R.Stolz - Raleigh, NC
Carlos, Abel, and Salvador helped with our last move. They showed up on time and worked straight for 3ish hours to pack up our condo. They wrapped all the furniture and were extra careful moving everything. We had our items stored on a truck for two nights and they showed up the morning of to bring everything to our new house on time. The whole process was wonderful and I would use them again. Those three guys were hard working and great at their job. Also, the estimate for the move was right in line with the final cost.
I would not recommend this company. They have a very competent and pleasant estimator and the office/Managment team were helpful after this unpleasant experience I had. But at the end of the day, the movers are the only thing that matters. The movers had no idea what they were doing and the 3 that were sent to do my move....they broke appliances, damaged the house I vacated and the one I moved into. They threw items off their truck, I video taped it!! And to top it off, they stole personal belongings from me during the move. Sad group!!! Choose another moving company, that s my recommendation.
I used them for my local move and had a good experience. I referred others to them that also had a good experience. When it came time for me to move again, I was given a qutoe based on my last move 2 years prior, which seemed fair. When I went to confirm the date, I was told they would not honor the quote I was given because "it was a College Student" working part time that gave it to me. The lady on the phone got upset and hung up on me when I told her I wasn't going to do business with a company that allows employees to give quotes they won't honor.
Marrins' Moovers are great to deal with. The simplest review I can give is to say they take the worry out of the moving process. They give a firm, (very fair!) price quote, confirm the timing of your move as well as price, show up when scheduled, and they and the movers who work for them are courteous, professional, and hard working. I don't look forward to moving, but if I need to, it's nice to know I no longer have to worry about the actual move!
