Macys was amazing! I was able to order online and a few days later go right in to pick up my purchase during this crazy pandemic. They were very kind, quick, and organized. Thank you Macy's

I felt the upper floors should be a museum, don't get me wrong, they do capitalize history in the basement, but this is an amazing store with a history that should be marketed for this location besides the chocolate.

I was verbally attacked by an employee in a closed elevator. I used an elevator because the escalator was closed and he told me I should of used a different one because they were sick of stopping on every floor. He then proceeded to make rude comments the whole ride down. I was scared to counter due to close proximity and the aggression this individual showed. I tried to find someone after to talk to but it was so crowded. Will not be going back due to this incident. I felt very unsafe.

Compared to the locations in New York or San Francisco Chicago blows them out of the shopping waters. Massive clean twist and turns directions then if one stands still and look up Wow you are in a square amist art decor ceiling just camera worthy. Beautiful shop until you make them put you out. Very large mens departments.

This is such a beautiful store. Even if you do not like to shop, the history here is awesome. Be sure to check out the Tiffany ceiling. This Macys also has an incredible selection of everything, and restaurants on the 7th floor are good. The Walnut Room is beautiful. The people that work at the Dior fragrance counter are amazing and very helpful.

Absolutely do NOT recommend the bathrooms on the second floor or any floor. Especially during the holidays it can get packed and so the bathroom will be utterly disgusting.

That aside the collection at this Chicago location is not too bad.// But if you were richer (say a millionaire): I would order online from this retailer for anything custom made.\\

The store is very nice in size with many floors.

And the fragrances and jewelry is where I would head towards for anything newer.

Macy's has awesome choices of clothes and shoes for petite women which are extremely hard to find at other stores. Although it can be a little pricey compared to other stores, it can give you great value for money in terms of quality. This store has a great location, very easily accessible. The reason I did not give 5 stars is that in-store choices for petite women are kind of limited. I wish they would increase their in-store inventory of petite clothing items, which are otherwise available online.

Not native to Chicago, and we honestly felt like we had to walk 5 miles and in circles just to find what we were looking for. Ended up getting some Levi's for a good price and a few other things, also on sale. Nice that there is a Lenscrafters in house as well.

Poor customer service. Floor person was inexperienced and misguided us instead of checking with Co worker. Same individual was later at checkout/cash counter. Proceeded to make a mess of nicely folded and expensive cashmere sweaters. Shoved them into a bag in crumpled state. I requested her to remove and fold properly. She tried but had no idea how to fold clothes. Made a total mess. Shows a total lack of training in customer service by Macy's.

I've been to the Macy's on State street a few times before, big place, intimidating even, nice clothes though and if your lucky, some good deals. When I went their last I bought some boots, the guy who helped me out although his name escapes me, was a young black gentlemen who said he went to Columbia college Chicago. He was very helpful and very nice. Most recently a Gentlemen named Carl helped me out over the phone and saved me a ton of money by helping me find a very nice trench coat, he had to run half way across the store, from the active-wear department to the suit coat department to get it and he didn't even have to he could have just told me they didn't have it and hung up or transferred me. Either way I just wanted to post this so that someone might maybe see it and know that Carl was awesome and knowledgeable and deserved a raise or something.

This store is gigantic but I loved how each floor was clearly labeled with large signs at the escalator system stating what each floor had. Each floor was open and easy to shop. Went to this location the flower show and it was amazing. I appreciate how Macy's State has a visitor center on the lower level and a Barbara's book shop area as well.

Went in to get an umbrella. Employee on the first floor said it s on the other 2nd floor. Went on the second floor and couldn t find any umbrellas or employees to ask. Went back down, found the umbrellas but no one whom I could check out with. About after a 5min search a sales rep was finally found... in took good 20min to buy a single item.. this store is severely understaffed. Each department I walked thru lacked sales representatives.

The expansive iconic yet very traditional retail outlet is awesome. I needed time to orientate myself (and still felt a bit overwhelmed). Plenty of stuff to meet my Christmas spending ambition, and enjoy some light dining (and catch my breath).

My wife wanted (needed?) more time, but for me, I suffered sensory overload after the first few hours. Many pleasant, courteous and helpful team members (obviously accustomed to the busyness and crowded environment).

The best American department store chain! You can find a lot of brands of both luxury clothing and shoes organized on multiple floors for men, women and children as well as home and lifestyle. There are often absurd discounts!

I'm glad Macy's has upheld a very similar feel and charm to the cherished Marshall Fields that proceeded it.

The building still maintains the fantastic architectural beauty inside and out, including the Marshal Fields metal placard still proudly embedded outside of the building.

It's still an anticipated tradition to take a train downtown and make a stop at Macys, even for an easy lunch downstairs.

Now that it's been a few years since Macys took over, it's awesome to still see the incredibly detailed and thought out window displays and decorations during the holidays. We are also thankful to still see the Frangos Chocolates offered year after year, especially with the tribute to the former Marshall Fields and Chicago itself (well done Macys!).

Always liked Marshall Field's so had to compare after the Macy's acquisition. The downtown site (my fav) has great instore & online sales, great food with specials, great events for customers. Top 3 floors being converted to office space. Always changing.

This place is huge and very easy to get trapped in for hours. The customer service was amazing though, specifically from a young lady down by the frango chocolate gift shop on the lower level.
