Linfield national golf has tight holes many with forced carries and some holes simply too narrow and too unusual to describe. In theory the greens are the best part of the course. Played on 8/20. After playing the first Hole the course looked promising however it was downhill from there. 80% of the tees were burnt out dirt. 75 % of the fairways were spotty with little grass and 40% of the greens were unplayable burnt out with dirt snd sand. Don't waste you money. Other nearby courses offer a much better value.

Have not played here in many years maybe 15 or more. Pleasantly surprised at the conditioning especially for this time of year. Great layout. Can t wait to come back again. We play a lot of courses and this just rose to the top of anything we ve played in the area. Nice job to the management.

Played Sunday morning 9-6-20 and I must say it was a nice course. The guy in the club house seemed a little cranky but oh well it was early so as usual just ignore it & move on. But the review is for the golf course not the club house dude, if he were nasty that's something else but he wasn't so here we go.

Everything from the cart to the tee boxes fairways and greens were in decent / good shape.

Would I go back? Oh yeah. Is it priced accordingly? Maybe a touch hi but then again what isn't on a holiday weekend? The website displayed some good prices for weekdays so it's pretty obvious they do have good deals so for that alone I see they manage pricing for better deals so again I will go back.

It''s early in the year, but the course is in great shape so far. They made some changes to the layout and added a few traps to make it even more challenging, but still it''s a relatively short track in my opinion.

Perhaps that''s the one thing I like most about this place... It''s a great course to walk and you get a much better feel for your game if you''re able to do that. On a nice spring day, you''ll get lots of sun and fresh air as the steam from the cooling towers always blows away from the course ;).

As for the negative comments regarding the fairways, this was probably in regard to when they were under repair last season. Honestly, I''d be pissed too if I encountered this myself, but it was a necessary evil in order to restore the course to the condition it''s in now.

Highly recommended.

NOTE: Joshua Ryan, a 10 year old from Norristown, plays this course frequently. He finished 3rd place in the Augusta National first Drive, Chip and Putt Championship on April 6th. He''s primed to be a PGA Tour sensation from our area (in a few years).

You can tell that the grounds crew takes pride in their work. One of the best courses I played all year. The only thing better than the course was the customer service. I will be back again.

I have been playing this course since it opened with mixed opinions. After years of conditions ranging from playable to horrible, I was happily surprised by how the course, and management, have matured to become one of the best in the county if not the state. It s a tight layout but it s in immaculate condition, the greens run true and from the tips it s a very challenging track. And giving respect to #18 at Turtle Creek, #12 at Honeybrook and #9 at Jack Frost National, the par 5 12th is one of the best in the state. You can t see the beauty of the layout from the tee, but standing above the green gives you a view on how wonderful this hole truly plays and the challenge it offers.

The course was and always is in good shape. That is not the problem. The problem is that I teed off, solo, at 12 on Thursday. Smooth until 7 when I got behind two, slow, old men. Figured they would let me play through after 9. Well, they didn't and that didn't even matter. There was a group of 4, wearing jeans, with shirts untucked in front of them. It got so slow that I left after 13. I was waiting up to 25 minutes between shots! I went inside to complain, they tell me I should have picked up my phone and called. Wow.

My friends and I will never come back again.
The gentleman(?) who works in the pro-shop was extremely disrespectful.
I usually played 3 ~ 4 times at this golf course in the season with my friends. But, we were really disappointed for course condition and services ... everything.

Played today and most of the tees are terrible. If not all sandy the only grass is crabgrass. Some of the fairways are in bad shape too with lots of crabgrass. The course is in sad shape compared to a year ago.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience

Showed up for our tee time and the employee in the pro shop was flat out disrespectful. Carts were clean but slow. We showed up to the first tee box with a group already there waiting in front of us, which is never a good sign. From the first hole there was already a 25 minute back up. There s nothing else but poor planning to blame for that. We tried to skip the first hole to speed things up but when we got to the second tee it was the same situation. When I say backed up, I mean waiting 10 minutes between shots backed up. The round would ve taken at least 6 hours. We decided not to wait around and go back to the pro shop and ask for an refund or a rain check. To no surprise, the gentleman in the pro shop treated us poorly and refused any refund at all. At that point we were fed up and decided to leave. As for course conditions, they were not up to the standards they should be for a $60 round per person. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers all looked poor. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. There are so many better places in the area where you can have a great experience.

Great prices, challenging course but not too brutal. Course isn't always in the best condition but the clubhouse usually is aware and have given us multiple coupons for free greens fees to make up for the conditions being subpar. Also nice that the starter rarely makes pairs join up with other groups to make foursomes.

Low expectations based on word of mouth but pleasantly surprised. Great layout. Overall in good shape. Fairways in very good condition. Greens in good condition but a little bumpy from aeration. Some of the traps needed work - wet spots and a puddle in a few. I gather there is new ownership from reading other reviews. Seems to be working.

Great local course. Got the golf now deal and played in the butter cold and wind... But we had the course to ourselves. Conditions were good considering the time of year with little to no standing water.

I had a very bad experience the last time I went to Linfield National. The course itself isn't bad, but the customer service was awful. The employees there were very rude over the phone and in person. They were incompetent in their online system. I made reservations online via their website and was charged a down payment. When I arrived to the course and paid in cash the employee could not figure out how to reduce my amount owed by the down payment I already paid. His reasoning was "anything online I have no control of". All in all, I paid more than I should of and received attitude for doing so.

Showed up for our tee time and waited 20 minutes at the tee box before other groups played. Cart stopped working and we had to walk 5 holes because apparently it's that difficult to send out another cart. Some fairways are pretty beat up. The course is tight (tee boxes and greens close together) so there's balls and players all over the place. We will not be coming back.

The day starts by dropping clubs at bag drop. Nobody there. Carts sitting there soaking wet. Walk into the pro shop to a rude old guy behind the counter (he needs to retire). I was 45 minutes early as usual. The old guy says why are you here so early. I say I usually hit balls before I play.
He barks we don't have a driving range. Sunday morning and the traps weren't raked from the previous day. The course layout is really strange.
Balls flying all over, had several balls come flying onto greens and tee boxes (wear a helmet). This might have been the worst golf experience I have ever encountered.

I would play here almost any day. I have traveled to play the course. Another example of a nice greater Philly golf course. Staff is a great asset.
Not pricey and has a Country Club feel once you clear the clubhouse.

3 stars is generous for conditions today.
Course was aerated the week before and in INCREDIBLY POOR CONDITION.
Between the bad drainage / water on some holes to the concrete dry ground of other holes.
Weather has destroyed the bunkers (not much Linfield can do about flooding rains). Some greens are missing grass.
Many it was hard to tell what was fairway from what was not.
I invited my uncle from NY to play here to impress him and I was frankly embarassed. I could have chosen a course in MUCH BETTER condition for the amount I paid $50 (sunday morning course website rate).
I echo the other ratings of, how can you charge full price for that course in those conditions.
Its a shame too because it is clearly a gorgeous course if the grass was growing where it should and trimmed where it should be.

Was told one price when booking and it was different when we paid. Its was 47 bucks and my bother who came at 12 paid 52. I was told it was 37 when I booked. I dont mind paying to play golf but the course is a wreck they had some issue with thier turf. I didnt want to pay 37 to play this course but it was last minute, but 47 to 52 bucks for Sanded tee boxes, dirt fairways and over seeded everything. I gave this course a try in August it was worse today.

Add: Thank you for the generic response. Below

Course is tight and interesting. It challenges you to make shots. The condition is excellent though the bunkers could do w a little more sand. The par five twelfth (spectacular), par four thirteenth, and the par three fourteenth are as good a three hole test as anywhere in Pa. Public Golf.
The Course conditioning is currently outstanding and has steadily improved and matured over time. There's a nice little secluded short game area tucked in a Grove with flanking mounds between the 9th green and 10th tee. Brilliant design. Good looking Clubhouse bar and grill and multiple simulated indoor golf booths push the amenities way beyond the usual.
I'm not a native to this area so, I've explored a lot of places across my time here. With many other outstanding options,
this golf course is a true gem.. My favorite, hands down.
The reasonable rates make it possibly the best value anywhere.

Course was in bad shape. Fairways were horrible, sand traps were hard packed sand and the greens were brown in spots. Played twelve holes and had to stop due to heavy rain and my group was never offered a rain check.

Played Linfield for the 1st time with a group of friends and really enjoyed my round. Despite the heat today, the fairways and greens were in great shape and challenged me on most holes. Nice layout and many doglegs which make you think every time you tee off. Friendly pro shop staff and courteous grounds keepers as well. Why haven t I played this course sooner? Limerick cooling towers make a unique backdrop. I ll be back to play there in the future and add it to my favorite places to play.

I just read the 2 negative reviews about Linfield National. I played there 2 weeks ago and the course I played is beautiful. Tee to green I thought it was in great shape! The 2 negative reviews are 2 and 4 years old. This was my first trip so whoever is working the grounds now knows what they are doing. Great views too. I live an hour away in Pineville, PA but will be back there soon. In the fall it has to be awesome too with the leaves turning.

Linfield National Golf Course is getting better every year. They're upgrading about 6 holes a year and clearing brush to make it an even more appealing course. The terrain is varied and offers some unique challenges.

Very disappointing golf course. Just about every tee box, fairway, and green had disease on it. Quite a few tee boxes didn't have any grass. Not sure what the greenskeeper is doing but it's not working. We spent $57.00 to play 18 and it was a total rip off, we could have played at 3 other courses that were cheaper and in much better shape. We have had plenty of rain so it's not a watering problem. I would not recommend nor will I play this course again. I hate leaving these type of reviews, but save your money there are plenty of other courses to play cheaper and in much better shape.

We are local golfers that don't always play locally. That said, this course is in better shape than the three others we previously played. The greens and fairways were in good shape. The sandtraps need some sand (take away one star) but we'll definitely be back. We had a great time, under 4 hours.
