If you value your life, go somewhere else. I begged my mother not to come here for her treatments. I insisted that i would drive her to a better one, but she didn't want the inconvenience of a long drive. Now, i miss her so much. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE HOSPITAL!
I rushed my girlfriend here because she was screaming in agony, and needed urgent attention. They wouldn t even give her pain medication until we were there for 4 hours. She has PCOS and all the symptoms of a ruptured cyst and they completely ignored that saying it was a problem with her colon. So they forced her to stay overnight with insufficient pain management and the staff constantly treating us like garbage. We didn't even have a room. She stayed in a chair and I was lying on the floor, which was absolutely filthy. After 16 hours she saw a surgeon who sent her home saying she was fine, because the pain had stopped for a while. Now its twice as bad, we re rushing her back and she s being forced to deal with this tremendous pain for hours yet again. It simply isn't busy enough for us to receive such little priority, this is a result of most of the staff here not taking their job seriously. You don t see a patient writhing in pain who has a reproductive health problem, look for that problem in THE WRONG PLACE and then discharge them because you found nothing. This is absolutely horrendous, and so many of these people should NOT be allowed to practice medicine or deal with patience. This is completely unacceptable.
I normally don't post reviews to Google, but my most recent visit to this hospital really got me heated. They were no help whatsoever. The wait time was atrocious, and I felt like I was being patronized by the ER doctor and that my stomach pains were not taken seriously. It's like they want to get you out of there as soon as possible. I ended up being prescribed medicine for nausea which just made me more dizzy and didn't solve my actual stomach pains. I ended up going to my family doctor and they were much more help at solving the problem. At least you get more privacy at a walk in clinic.
This is a good local hospital, however, sometimes the wait times are quite long.
My dad died at this hospital in January 2017. They had the worst patient care you can imagine. He had terminal cancer and was treated so badly. One morning, we found him choking on some egg yolk. A nurse had shoved the egg in his mouth but it was too dry for him to swallow. We had to rush to get him some warm water to help the food go down. He was also moved from ER to the hallway due to over-crowding. Then he was finally moved to a room that he had to share with an ignorant, racist man. The man swore loudly at us for taking up too much room, for making too much noise, and for being Asian. He made profane comments when the priest came to pray with us during my father's last hours. When my father passed away, the man said that he hoped my father would go to hell for having rotten children like us. The nurses and doctors did nothing to protect us. I felt so violated during such a vulnerable time.
helpful doctors, friendly staff but wait time was horrible
Cold food, No shower, Can t leave due, wait time takes up to 5h sometimes till the next day. Staff are nice but very unorganized. Phone automated service is bad and there s no wifi for guests. Enjoy
Had day surgery and the staff were extremely friendly, kind and professional right from patient registration through surgery and discharge.
If you have to undergo surgery, Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital is a place that will treat you as if you are the most important person there .
I am surprised to read all the negative reviews below. My experience has been stellar -- with 1 emergency visit and 3 follow-up to the fracture clinic. I found all the staff -reception, doctors, support staff to be helpful and friendly. Service at the clinic was fast and efficient. The only grumpy person was the parking attendant. He didn't believe that I was a chaplin despite showing my I.D. and having my ticket validated by the hospital Chaplin.
I were upset by the staffs in fracture clinic. I went there with my boyfriend who got injured and was on the wheelchair in the morning around 7:30. He handed in his health card to the lady ( name with a D) there, when the registration was done, that lady literally threw back the number card and his health card on the desk that my bf could hardly reach, and chilling with anothe staff loudly. I personally don t think that is the way to treat patients like that. Very disappointed.
Terrible experience even trying to get an appointment. First, they lost my dad's referral fax (we have proof that fax was sent through) and then after I called to make sure the fax went through, they didn't even mention that the doctor is away for March break! Now my dad has been left hanging for two weeks while having fever. Absolutely awful experience.
I waited here for almost two-hours past my scheduled appointment. I asked where I was in the que and was informed there was 7-8 people ahead of me. This would have easily been an additional two hours if not more. I left as I had to pick up my son from daycare. What is the point of having an appointment. I still have stiches in my hand that I need to get removed.
Nobody answers the phone.
Very sad that they accepted 10 million from MUZZO Family. I visited the emergency room and nurses on coffee break while working. Doctors on staff talking and gossip about other doctors. Long wait time not cause govt. isn't providing funding, it's the staff taking advantage of tax payers and don't want to work. They are not overworked. Stop Mr. STATIONWALA CEO and report this to Ontario government. The board members and CEO has a public relations guy sitting by Tim Hortons drinking coffee and god knows what else to brush off complaints. See other responses. This company opening one hospital in Vaughan. Learn to manage one hospital then open another. They are too busy promotion on you tube.
Mackenzie Health is a top-notch medical facility. From the surgeons to the volunteers, you are treated warmly and with respect.
The fracture clinic, in particular, runs like a well-oiled machine. All the staff there are incredible.
Awful, the nurses are so rude and so is everyone else. We waited in minor emergency for hours we have been waiting all day. After waiting in a small closed room for an hour I decided to wait in the hall. When the nurse came in she said under her voice that it's really annoying when you wait in the hall. I am so sorry but you try waiting in a small room for hours without going crazy. I'm so unimpressed I actually would never recommend this hospital to anyone!
Ended up in emergency with my grandmother a few months ago due to her falling and the experience was ridiculous. We were brought in by ambulance around 630 PM. Unfortunately I didn t know her full medical history because my mother is her POA and my grandmother is very private about her health. In the ambulance I called my mother so that the paramedic could get all the information (I knew she couldn t have certain medications but was not aware of what specifically) and there wouldn t be any complications. In my experience, whenever I ve been taken to the hospital by ambulance, the information is passed on to the medical staff (nurses) at arrival. That apparently doesn t happen here and didn t find that out until we had already been waiting around in the hospital for over an hour. My mother couldn t be reached because she was driving and couldn t legally answer her calls/texts. The nurse I was dealing with was a complete jerk. Any time I couldn t answer his questions he would roll his eyes or kiss his teeth at me. On top of that, he told me that if she needed to use the restroom, I had to supervise her and lift her if needed. I explained that I was 3 months pregnant and couldn t lift a grown woman (which is literally part of his job). He ignored what I had said and walked away. About 30 mins passes and she needs to use the restroom. Once again he tells me to help her after he helped get her out of bed and once again I explained to him why I couldn t. She ended up having an accident in the restroom and he complained that I should have been in there helping her... the bathroom was not big enough for both her, myself and her walker so I had to stand outside with the door partially opened (which she was not ok with). I also had informed any person that came to take blood, etc that she has dementia and can get aggressive which they also ignored.
After waiting until 5 AM the NEXT morning, the doctor decided to grace us with his presence. He asked her what day/month/year it was to determine she hadn t harmed her head in the fall. Once again, she has DEMENTIA. She hasn t known the correct date in almost 5 years now which was already explained multiple times in the 11 hours we sat there waiting to see this guy. He spent about 3 minutes examining/talking to her (I timed it on my cell phone) and walked away and said NOTHING. He comes back 45 minutes later to inform us they were going to keep her over night... its almost 6 AM by this point... this information would have been great HOURS ago.
Also to add that in those 11-12 hours we sat around waiting for him, multiple people were complaining about the wait time and I overheard nurses discussing that he was literally just ignoring their pages or just flat out refused to deal with them until he wanted to. Absolutely disgusting experience. AVOID this place if you can. I ve been to busier hospitals in Toronto and NEVER have I ever experienced such ridiculous behaviour from staff.
Worst experience I ever had.so many careless doctors, rude nurses and busy Emergency Room. Not recommend AT all even if you are dying.
I had never been here before. It wasn't an emergency but I knew I would need x-rays so a walk-in clinic was not the answer. I waited a few hours until later in the night when I knew it would be less busy.
From the moment I walked in the door till the time I left it was 1 hour. I barely had time to sit down, and the place was far from empty. I was met with smiling faces from triage to registration to ER, x-ray back to ER, the MD and nursing staff. everyone was friendly and kind.
I was happy to be attended to in ER by Trevor. The whole interaction was a pleasure! I am happy to have this Hospital in York Region
I went to the Colonoscopy today. The environment is so nice and clean. All the staff are very nice and fridendly. Dr. Arya act like very professionally
The whole procedure I felt was so relax!
Many folks will complain about our system, the wait, the crowd, so it's truly admirable that despite all these challenges, Mackenzie Health remains so focused on the true essence of thei purpose. To take care and focus on all patients, to treat everyone with respect and to help us get better. You should all be proud of what you are accomplishing, it is clearly a patient first mindset. Well done.
Everyone here was so great. I am so thankful to all the nurses and doctors that assisted my dad this week. I didn't get everyone's names but the last nurse that I met, Fatima (apologies if the spelling is incorrect) reassured me that I could go home and leave my dad in their good care. She even gave me the hospitals phone number and told me I can call whenever I wanted. She was fantastic. Also the nurses in the emergency triage were great. They were so quick and friendly! We have never been to the emergency room before and were a bit scared to be there to be honest but everyone made this experience a positive one. Thanks for saving my dad's life. Really glad my parents live near this exceptional hospital.
Very slow, more than 12 am ambulance was sent to the hospital, waiting for about 4 hours in the corridor, finally saw the doctor, the doctor only asked two sentences, left, and wait.... The attitude of the doctor is generally...
Some nurses really need to take some extra courses in mental health, it felt like I was being ridiculed and belittled the entire time (10 days of assessing their behaviour). Shame
I was very pleased with all the staff in the Day Surgery department. All of the nursing staff were super helpful and they all made my daughter, as well as myself, feel very comfortable.
They should be ashamed of them self to even call them self a hospital. nurses are rude, doctors are useless, security are inconsiderate!
What a disappointment! York Central Hospital Days was well respected!
Whoever is answering the telephone needs to find alternate employment - impolite and unhelpful.
Love the food, so good and so good to hear it's all made on site. I will definitely tell people to come here just for the food
My daughters (twins) have been followed by the Neonatal follow clinic at Mackenzie Health since their birth in September 2014. As well my wife was followed by the Maternal Fetal Clinic during her pregnancy with them.
We have always had a positive experience at Mackenzie Health. Staff are always courteous and helpful. The level of care is always top notch.
We should all be supportive of helping build the new Mackenzie Vaughan so they can continue to provide us with world class care in our community.
The emergency room staff are rude and condescending. I could hear the nurses and other staff members openly mocking paitients and making unnecessary, insulting remarks about the people waiting to be seen by doctors.
***The staff also forgot to remove my iv (saline lock) from my arm, so I had to pull it out myself when I got home. It was very painful and caused swelling that is still present days later.***
I understand that the staff here must see some extreme situations and likely have to put up with some less than desirable behaviour...but this does not justify the openly hateful remarks I heard throughout the night from various members of staff.
Although none of the hateful remarks made were said directly to the paitients, I could hear everything the staff was gossiping about. If one is employed in position, in a facility for critical care, discretion should be of the upmost importance.
Apparently, the staff here think loudly gossiping and making remarks that are obviously belittling to the people seeking care is appropriate.
I am absolutely disgusted by the lack of empathy and discretion displayed by the staff in the emergency room.
The new emergency room layout is poorly designed, truly has a hallway medicine feel.
Hospital, Doctors, staff and Nurses are wonderful. Very caring and make you feel at home. All in out five stars all across
I was accepted in ER at 11:00 PM on Thursday in semi-conscious condition, and was placed in the corridor. My husband was at my side, trying not to fall asleep, as he worked all day (9 hours) at construction site. Nurse was passing by every hour or so, saying that doctor will see me soon. HE NEVER DID! After about 3 hours of waiting , nurse said, that doctor is attending a patient who is in a very grave condition, and please wait another half an hour. After ANOTHER 1,5 hour we decided to leave, as I felt a bit better.
At registration desk we saw Dr. Pakijavan just running to another patient. He never even looked into my direction.
So, if you are alone and lying somewhere in the corridor , unconscious,
I don't think you have any chance - you can pass out - they will never notice; and there always be someone in more serious condition to attend to.
I gave 2 stars: because two paramedics who brought me in did their job excellently - did all tests and gave me IV support (1.5 star);
and 0.5 star to registration desk: they properly wrote down my insurance number and nurse properly REGISTERED me in her journal, took tests and DISASSEMBLED IV. She refused however to give me copies of my tests.
Their parking lot has a great business, without any effort at all - most expensive, especially at night hours, and no person to help to get receipt.
So decide yourself whether to go to that hospital in case of emergency or not.
As someone who sees a doctor at Mackenzie Health, I am pleased with the service I get! Dr Chen is always very caring and ensures that he follows up with me. Thanks Dr. Chen! He is of the medical unit.
Didn't wait for more than 2 minutes to be called. Went in for a fever and was attended to promptly. Friendly staff and very clean premises. Parking is quite expensive though.
Reading through the ratings, MH receives a lot of undue, unfair criticism. I think there are hundreds of people who flow through MH regularly and receive meticulous care, but I guess only the miffed leave ratings. People coming into the Emerg need to remember that demand exceeds supply and the staff are stretched thin, yet keep it all moving seamlessly.
And the Emerg triage did exactly what it was supposed to for me. I ended up in surgery the following morning and felt I was in exceptional hands, right from helpful nurses, Dr. P, diagnostics, the surgeon Dr. F, prep, post-op and all the selfless, incredible and highly competent nurses. A huge thank you them all for their dedication - all the more praiseworthy with the added constraints of covid.
I want to thank Dr. Bhat, Norma and Joanne in the breast clinic for their kind and professional help. They made me feel calm and comfortable through an unsettling ordeal.
My friend always complaints about this hospital, he goes for regular appointments there. I visited with him to see what he is complaining about. Sorry to say but, OHIP should stop paying this hospital. Let them turn into private hospital and then may be they will serve the public better. Very dirty, only one nurse seemed nice in the department.
I would ve given 0 if I could, terrible hospital in every way possible
Probably the worst hospital in Canada.Over the years we have experienced only bad services .Everybody in the area knows and don't go here.My father died after 1.5 hours coming out .The goal of this hospital is only one = throw you out .
I had to wait 8 hrs to get a bloodwork and ultrasound at the ER department . ..it's very very aggravating .
I have taken my elderly parents to the Mucc Clinic several times up to date; and I must say that the staff here( especially the front desk and nurses) are of the most compassionate and friendly that I've ever met!
I know that many people have lost faith in our medical system, and I agree, many hospitals (especially the "big ones") are so overwhelmed that it's difficult to give personal care and attention to everyone.
My father was rushed to the Emerg here at Mackenzie Health about 6 months ago, and has ever since been in the care of this hospitals doctors.
His congestive heart failure will not improve, but what I want to say is that this hospital is right on top of his situation, often getting him back in the the Mucc clinic to follow up on his condition; thus not abandoning him regardless of his deteriorating condition, always giving him hope.
The friendliness and smiles of this office staff truly restores my faith in humanity! Thank you Mucc Clinic!
Sandra
Only reason anyone should come here is to film a documentary about some of the worst hospitals in Canada. I ve never in my life felt as uncomfortable , unheard, and essentially disposed of , as I have here. Many people I know have put their heads down in disbelief and laugh upon hearing that I had to come here for help. Notorious place for its negligence. If I were given an ultimatum to either die in my bed from medical complications or come here for treatment, I d choose to die with my dignity than ever have to feel the way the way I did coming here for help again. This is my honest review.
My father came in to see Dr. Lam today in the MUCC Clinic where he was greeted by two extremely friendly and pleasant staff members Rose and Maureen. The nurse Ambreen was very attentive and made my father feel very comfortable and at ease before he actually saw Dr. Lam who was very thorough and treated him with professionalism and care. It's nice to be treated well since your the patient in need of help. Caring and smiling is a good atmosphere for patients and this definitely was the clinic that provided just that. Thank you!
Have had to visit the emergency department on four separate occasions with my elderly mother who has fallen. Particularly appreciative of the nursing staff as well as the Emergency doctors and specialists who looked after her in a most kind and efficient manner. Thank you.
Went to the hospital about two months ago. The doctors were complaining about the hospital board. I found the hospital very dirty, staff unhappy. Ohip paying lot of money. This hospital it is private or govt.? The issue is not the wait, the actual care. Doctors didn't care, nurses didn't put proper dressings I know Ohip pays but it's our money from 13% taxes. Now they opening another one by wonderland. Why?
ER was wild, hallways packed wall to wall with people vomiting, full EMS stretchers and crews lined halls. Dirty and Overcrowded is an understatement, I checked myself out of ER because having a corinanry event without medical care was less terrifying then sitting in their triage room. Wow.
I was in emergency 10th of January and I was there for 5 hours. Considering how many tests they've done that was a good length. The organization was very good, xray and CT scan technicians were very professional, and doctor NOTARANDREA EDOARDO was great. I would give him 5+ stars. He even called me next day to explain test results. The reason I'm giving 4 stars to the clinic is because of the nurses. They weren't very pleasant and what really bothered me was that they were not wearing gloves or washed their hands between the patients and instruments.
My daughter had knee surgery today, the staff was so pleasant and emphatic, really great service.
We had our son at Mackenzie Health and it was a great experience. We met the OB on staff as soon as I got there and she explained everything to me. I was induced and brought to my room.
The nurses taking care of me were friendly and responsive. Being a first time mom I had many questions and concerns.
Afterwards we were well taken care of by nursing staff. when we were readmitted a few days later it was extremely scary and emotional and we were given the upmost care by the Drs and nurses on duty. I would come back to this hospital in a heart beat.
Absolutely horrible. Do not ever come to this hospital. Bedside manour is nonexistent, I have been waiting OVER 24 hours for surgery to be done and have been told every time I ask they don t know what s going on . No communication between departments or staff members in general. Is there a way to report the atrocious nature of this hospital? DO NOT EVER COME HERE YOU WILL REGRET IT
This hospital has very few doctors for ER. The waiting period is too long. My aunt had a kidney stone and she was in tremendous pain. She got painkiller after waiting for about 5hours.
This week I went in to get my toe checked because I had severe pain but couldn't recall exactly how it could have been injured because I've dealt with the pain for a while. Around the time it happened my fiance passed away and I couldn't be bothered to go see anyone. Finally I decide to pick myself back up and finally have this looked at. Doctor didn't even bother to run any tests or put me in for an x-ray. Told me to put some ice on it and go home because he doesn't deal with "minor injuries". I went elsewhere and wouldn't ya know it, I fractured my sesamoid bone. So, thanks a lot for undermining my problem and brushing me off like I was some idiot who stubbed her toe.
my wife and i just recently had our first child you would think people in this field would have some expert advise or even some help in hand as soon as my daughter was born and we got our own room ..we were pretty much on our own unless we go and seek for help . and no one asked to us if we needed a nurse to come and help or give us some advise at home absolutely terrible service ! i see alot of people with bad reviews about this hospital which made me not throw the RACE card out there ..knowing now you guys treat everyone equaly! which is right if you treated everyone good ...time to go back and train !
very rushy and i honestly thought being in RICHMOND HILL a very high end city you would think they had a hospital up to there par !..i would never ever recommend anyone here i would rather trust driving a hour away
My father was sent to the emergency dept. from the nursing home section of the hospital. They put him in the hallway since wednesday night November2/17 around 7:00pm. It is now Thursday morning 7:00am and he is still there in the hallway. He is on a feeding tube and recieves 2 feeds per day. He only recieved part of the second feed because he was sent to Mackenzie Health Hospital. I spoke to the nurses to make sure he gets his feeds on time because the doctor saw my dad and no feeds were ordered, I don't want him to get dehydrated. The nurse in question said they don't have the equipment to feed patients on feeding tubes. The second issue: I told the nurse my dad needs to be changed. She refused to change him giving me a long story about how busy she was and she had so many patients to look after. Third Issue: The same nurse in question checked my dads oxygen level. His oxygen level was low between 70-80. She blamed it on my dads fingers and equipment instead of following proper procedures in this case. To be continued and followed up further.
Recently had a knee surgery performed at Mackenzie. I've had other routine surgeries performed at other hospitals, and I have to comment on how easy and organized everything seems to operate at Mackenzie Health. Doctors, nurses and support staff were nothing but friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. If you have options on your choice of hospital to visit, Mackenzie Health would make a great choice.
Very unprofessional. I had my third child at this hospital. They offer private rooms, but they don't exist. My wife was released with very high blood pressure and could have died. The ear doctor came in after 10 hours (should have been 12hours), said she'll make an appointment at her clinic becuase she's going on vacation. What a scam she's pulling. My wife had to go back becuase of blood pressure. Spent 2 days sleeping in the hallway before getting a room. Nurses were very good.except the last one before we left said we can't take our baby home becuase his bracelet fell off . Glad its over
It's surprising that a nice place like Richmond Hill has such a poor third-rate hospital. Staff here is indifferent, wait times are atrocious, and the birthing unit feels like a prison ward. If you can drive a little further, go elsewhere when needing medical assistance.
My son broke his thumb and we went to Mackenzie Health to get him fitted for his new cast. We were extremely impressed with how clean and spacious the hospital felt. We were treated at the Help Desk and given directions. It was easy to find where we had to go. Check-in was easy and we were called in within 2 minutes of sitting down. The Doctor and the OT were both great.
All in all, a great, efficient experience compared to some other hospitals in York Region.
Did my COVID assessment here. No result for a week. I had to change my flight! I tried to ask someone. I called and received feedback from robot voice. I asked staff on site and was told everything is online. Staffs were nice but unorganized. Anyway, don't come here.
The hospital is very un-organized. Most of the staff are rude and rushed me. I had barely any rest as I was being interrupted by many of there workers at many moments. Some of the Nurses and Doctors were great but most of the Environmental and Food Services team need to learn how to treat people better when a problem arises especially there Managers! I've contacted both Managers of those departments and none of them returned any of my calls! Definitely not the place to get the care that anyone needs. If you want to get good treatment in every aspect then I suggest you try another hospital.
Highly professional, friendly, and helpful staff at Emergency Department. Thanks to everyone for their great work.
In the past month, I've had two family members treated in the emergency department at MacKenzie Health. I can't say enough about the professionalism of all of the staff, the quality of the care and the relative speed of assessment. In one case, with a case of possible food poisoning, we were in and out in 2 hours flat - seen by nurses, doctor, bloodwork, and a 1 litre of fluid by IV. We left with a handy patient summary sheet which explained what tests he had received, a summary of his vitals, and recommendations for follow up. I'm very grateful to MacKenzie Health ER staff for taking such good care of my family.
Worse experiece ever with some if the nurses in ER. Majority are miserable human beings who should have never pursued a career in helping others. I had come in with an emergency, ruptured cyst and not able to walk wothout a wheelchair. When asked for one, theyre reaction was like i sweared at them. After much attitude they brought one and did not even help me get on it. Mind you i had told them i had fainted before visiting er. Then they proceeded to ask me few questions about why i had visitied and she outright called me liar its hard for me to believe you gyno would send you to er i had to call my gyno and she instructed me to let them know they should call her office. The nurse never did and asked my mom if she is deaf and cant hear her!
You would think someone who had studied 4 years to become a nurse would have some sorta of compassion for someone who is in so much pain that cant stop crying. Really bad experience and i wish there was a page or someone you could report these incidences to. Thankfull they were able to change my nurse as I complained to my doctor. Not that much better but at least he was not rude, just really cold and dismissive.
Horrible experience all together.
Staff is half decent but taxpayers paying too much to run this hospital.
I only give this star to the 2 nurses who really care about the patients. Worst wait times I've ever seen. If you go at night you'll notice there's only one doctor in emergency. We waited 8 hours after we could see a doctor and our son had respiratory issues so it was a real emergency. There was even an elderly patient next to us who was calling for help and we had to ask the nurses 3 times to checke on him. Most of the nurses were just wasting time while only 2 of them were diligently checking on all the patients. When we were finally able to see a doctor he spend no more than 3 minutes to have my son checked and he would not stay to answer our questions. He seemed in a rush since he was the only doctor in the emergency room which made me mistrust his judgement. We are going to be looking for a second opinion.
The fact that Patient Relations is defending Google Reviews online says it all.
Everyone in the hospital was very kind and helpful.
Mackenzie Health hospital is modern, very well organized, very efficient. The handling of Covid-19 situation is excellent (screening, hand sanitizer everywhere, everybody wearing masks and they offer new masks at the entrance). Any staff you ask, they will stop and help you. I have had total hip replacement surgery and my experience was excellent. Everybody I needed to deal with was outstanding, but I feel compelled to mention Dr. Christopher Gallimore, the surgeon for my operation, and Randa Tighe, patient flow navigator. Both were, and still are, very friendly, caring and always returning my calls and answering my concerns. Thank you to all.
The Good:
5/5 Stars for the breakfast menu.
5/5 Stars for the Pediatricians at this hospital
Mother and Baby area on the 5th floor are very caring and hospitable.
The Bad:
Came for my wife's Scheduled Baby Delivery.
Waited 9 hours and 15 minutes to see a doctor.
1 nurse came by just to check heartbeat and ask simple questions.
Update:
Doctor just came and told us that we wasted our day waiting here. My wife should have received the gel application and been sent home. The doctor said that there must have been a miscommunication between the nurse and doctor.
I've been to the diagnostic imaging department as walk-in, through ER, and by appointment. My experiences have been very positive. I basically had no wait times and the staff were friendly and good with children.
Worse hospital in the world. Took my 10 month old, who was having a hard time breathing. They are telling us one person rule due to covid 19. Parents are not visitors. The wait is so long when there's barely anyone inside. C'mon there's pathetic and then its Mackenzie health at the top.
Doctors here are lazy and spend 5-10 secs with a patient. They don't know anything most of the time everything is normal 99% of the time.
Don't donate dont support and don't help this hospital its garbage.
I am very disappointed with this hospital and I highly recommend no one to go there. It has been 9 days and I still have not received my covid test results. I tried calling the hospital three times and each time the call was never answered and it automatically hung up on their end. One time I called and the answering machine said the department is closed because it closes at 5 pm and I called at 3 pm... (clearly it wasn't closed so why isn't anyone answering?) This hospital is extremely unorganized and they do not care about their patients. When I went in to get tested, the staff looked at my family up and down and did not speak two words. It really showed us how much they did not care to be there or care to help. I STRONGLY recommend for everyone to avoid this hospital!!
I've been here twice for my mother's knee surgery. Both times the experience has been phenomenon. Faith in humanity restored is how I would describe it. The first visit was for a pre-op on MAY 2. Where we didn't know where to go the volunteers out front were kind & informative. At in-patient registration we struggled w/ the sign-in machine, but the nurse there was equally patient and kind. Every nurse we had the chance to meet had been nothing short of kind. Especially the RN Winnie, who made every effort to answer all the questions my mother in her preferred language telling her it is a very minor surgery. Even the receptionist in day surgery that day was kind and understanding when we ran late. The whole experience made us more comfortable w/ the surgery.
Fast forward to today:surgery day. I have been up since 4am just nervous abt the day & honestly not the most delightful, but from the moment we stepped into the hospital at 7am we have been treated with such care. The volunteers do so much in making us comfortable. And the nurses were very kind. Today it was Alden who shined. He tried to make us more comfortable with jokes and smiles & even when I couldn't squeeze out a smile he was still so kind. After waiting for awhile I hit the cafeteria where I met a beautiful woman. I was tired & hungry, shuffling in line waiting to pay for my breakfast. When it came to my turn to pay, the cashier told me the blonde haired nurse in front of me had already paid for my meal. This beautiful, generous soul whom I've never met or spoken to just decided to make my day. The cashier told me she didn't know her name, but she does it all the time. An unnamed blonde Angel who not only helps daily as a nurse, but paying to make ppl's days better one meal at a time.
I sat down and just stared at the breakfast in front of me overwhelmed with emotions. It was one of the best meals I've ever had. As I finished I received a call from the surgeon Dr. Marchie who said everything went well w/ my mother's surgery and not to worry. I am sitting here just reflecting on the day's events. I don't believe I was just lucky today that everything aligned in my favour. All I have experience today in the hospital are the collective efforts of medical professionals & volunteers who truly care. So thank you to you all. I am grateful.
*Update
We just left the hospital. Please thank Loretta the post-surgery nurse. She was Just wonderful.
I had the worst headache of my life this past weekend and went to the ER to do a thorough check-up. I waited 9 hours in total at the ER, and the report for my CT scan was ready hours prior to the doctor had time to 'discharge' me. I was told that they don't want to pay 2 doctors so if the doctor did my initial assessment is not available I just had to wait; while there's other doctors standing around. The operational efficiency is very poor and I'd strongly suggest the hospital to consult with major consulting firms to redesign the operation workflow. Different risk profile patients should be addressed with different workflows. Very poor experience- would not recommend anyone with urgent medical needs to come here.
It is very unfortunate that I have to put out another 1-star review for this garbage of a hospital. After been taken to the ER twice, I was basically put in this cold, dingy room, where no staff would be able to attend to me. They were extremely rude and intimidating whenever I asked for something and were least helpful. It probably isn't appropriate to be treating someone who is in a crisis like a prisoner. I've also been getting multiple calls during odd hours to pay my ambulance fees.
The only positive thing about this hospital is the emergency doctor and psychiatrist being kind enough to understand my problems. That star is literally just for them or I would really be giving this hospital zero stars. If I am in a crisis ever again, I would definitely be going to Markham or Toronto. Not you guys anymore.
Wonderful hospital. Nursing staff exceptional!!! Very professional, kind and caring.
I have been to Mackenzie Emerg twice in the past year with my father. Both times I was impressed with the professionalism and expertise of the physicians, nurses and staff. Most recently with Dr. Arash Gharajeh in ED and Dr Tamer Abdelshaheed who admitted him and has been a helpful, attentive and effective MRP during his stay.
I like to comment about the way the Ambulance and at the hospital Emergency was handled . This was an after Surgery complication and normal emergency procedure to any Medical staff. I was taken to Mackenzie Health for better handling the situation after Surgery at the same Hospital. The Emergency team left me in Pain and Suffering pushing me back to a normal in line waiting list. IT DID NOT MATTER TO ANYONE HOW BAD I WAS SCREAMING AND SUFFERING -ALMOST TREATING ME LIKE A KID THAT COULD NOT TAKE PAIN. The nurse on duty did not know how to place and intervene and other crucial tasks to the base of Nursing level. I was left with a severe Urine Block from 12:30 AM til about 6:00 AM. Totally disappointed Your Emergency team has made my recovery Condition a lot worst . Your nurse could not perform an Intervene and could not perform basic tasks essential to be a nurse. Very disappointed at the Ambulance Paramedic ... little kids unaware of what the emergency was. IT DID NOT MATTER HOW THE PROBLEM WAS EXPLAINED , THEY DID NOT UNDERSTAND OR PREFERRED TO NOT UNDERSTAND OR ACT ACCORDING TO THE EMERGENCY.
10/22/2019 It is even more upsetting to read from the people behind all of personnel assisting at the hospital, When nothing really is done about the way we are treated . It is taking power in deciding who should receive health assistance and should not . It really depends on the way their team sees individuals and the mood they wake up with on that particular day. I am so disgusted about the falsity and how they want people to think they are there to help . If you really want to know who I am, then find out what happened that the day - August 17th of this year by ambulance emergency at around 11.00PM. Then contact me !
Had our 75yo mother to ER in psychiatric distress. She was treated with great respect, and genuine concern. She was examined and admitted in the timeliest manner possible. Family reassured she is in a safe environment in which to recover.
Beware of this hospital.Emergency staff can make you so sick that you want to run away. I have never experienced this kind a behaviour before. They are obnoxious, rude, lazy and ugly inside. We saw they are constantly checking phones, laughing on a mentally disbalanced kid, calling patients stupid etc etc. Zero empathy.
Really sad how they are taking advantage of our tax money. And nobody cares!!
Unprofessional at all.
After spending a whole night at the emergency, we cannot use any medicine they've gaven to us, and have to get help on the next day at a local clinic.
Just like the nurse in that hospital said, thay only can provide "Free" level service, and they are really enjoy the easy life at work surround by patient's coughing.
Worst hospital I've ever been to, no nurses or doctors to care for patients
I volunteered at Mackenzie Health Hospital for a month earlier in the summer, totalling to approximately of 20 hours of service in the Mammography department. The technicians and staff at the clinic were super kind and welcoming, and were constantly expressing their gratitude for having volunteers there. The work basically comprised of prepping items for each mammography (cutting cleaning sheets, folding the linen), and greeting the patients who came in for their appointment. In sum, repetitive, mindless work for 4 hours a week, but that was expected as a volunteer.
However, my primary issue was with the volunteer department at Mackenzie Health. When I first started, the admin assistant, Stephanie, was pleasant, and flexible with paperwork. In hindsight, I think its likely because in the summer, they receive an influx of high school and university hopefuls providing the hospital with free labour work. I was asked to submit a $30 refundable deposit, and received a receipt outlining that I was borrowing hospital property (golf shirt uniform, ID badge). I realized after my month that I didn't want to continue volunteering there, because I felt that I could better spend my summer elsewhere. I think that as I was providing a service with no compensation, I deserve the right to decide whether I want to continue or terminate my position at any time. When I went to return my "hospital property," she (Stephanie) was on the phone, and just grabbed the ID badge and waved her hand at me when I tried to return the shirt. She then quickly said that my deposit would be returned in the mail. More than a month later, I received only half of the deposit back. Although it does not seem like that big of a deal, I think it really says a lot about the character and fitness of the department to be misleading and in a sense, fool their volunteers. $15 is not a lot to the hospital, but for me, it's an hour of minimum wage work, but calling it a refundable deposit while simultaneously issuing a receipt is deceitful. Additionally, when I called to inquire, the woman on the phone simply said she would let her bosses know.
I hope that this can help future volunteers be fully conscious of their agreement.
I went in for covid testing - security guard was VERY nice but some people in line had no mask :((((((((( the lady asking me questions was nice too. parking was cheap !! I also went there for my concussion last year, i dont remember much but it was very cool experience --> 10/10
Well what an experience, I need to praise McKenzie Health and its staff doctors including their amazing team work.
beginning with Laura Butler who managed and approving a procedure I required in record time and Sherry from Urology who performed the procedure not once but twice, she was so caring and gentle, had empathy, you can see that she cared.
Doctor Samsoondar who is too humble in wanting to be mentioned, but this Doctor deserves a medal of honor for carrying, what an amazing staff and team work.
I can not thank you enough.
You guys are the best
Mackenzie Health is an outstanding hospital to say the least. My mom was admitted for same-day surgery and the care she received, by her physician, nurses, staff and even the volunteers at the hospital was exceptional. Simply put, the comfort level and professionalism at Mackenzie Health is unparalleled.
They took good care of my grandma. Handsdown to their dedicated and compassionate ER staff especially the nurses.
Multiple bad experiences with this hospital. Expect to get stuck there between 8 to 12 hours without getting help. Even it they seam not to be very busy, don't expect shorter waiting time. Disorganized, rude and uncaring. My dad was lying on the floor in pain and medical staff was just going around him as he was not there.
hospital staff from their Admin to nurses and doctors are all Gems. very helpful, understanding and professional at the same time. they all try their best to minimize the wait time. thank you for all you do
Been sitting here for 6 hours waiting for a perscription and theres no one even here.
The staff here are absolutely unpleasant and unhelpful. I had a really serious panic attack last night and got taken to this ER because it was the closest. I usually go to William Osler or Etobicoke General This isn't my first one so I know how to deal with it on some parts but there are times when I need support. The paramedics didn't comfort me in any way and the nurse that saw me was so sarcastic in a way I didn't need. She was giving me an ECG and I was still recovering from my attack so I was crying. My boyfriend was there and she said "stop crying. It's not cute to do that in front of your boyfriend. You ruined a good date night with you two for this attack! Girl it isn't cute." I felt so unsupported and uncomfortable, my anxiety lasted all night until I got to talk with a counsellor. Thank god for him, he was the only one who helped me! Another lady had a severe panic attack and was balling her eyes out. Instead of comforting her, the nurses brought in her husband and said "we can't do anything. This is your wife! Calm her down".
Long waiting time for a technician to remove a cast. People come and go and we waited more than an hour. What's the point of making an appointment? Rude secretary in the fracture clinic. Go to another hospital.
I visited Dr. Thayaparan today for the second time with my 92 year old Mother who has dementia. The first appointmemt was 2 months ago. I cannot say enough, how Dr. thayaparan has made the most remarkable difference in my Moms overall health. The doctor made changes to her medication and has continued to make changes to reduce medications and increase another one. The result is astonishing. I would highly recommend Dr. Thayaparan to anyone who wants their elderly loved one to be treated with respect and improve teir quality of life. Many thanks to a wonderful Doctor for caring about her patients at the Senior Health Centre at Mackenzie Health.
I was at RCC for seven weeks. I received wonderful care. The nurses were responsive to my needs. For the most part, they were kind and caring. The physio therapists worked me even when I didn t want to work out. They gave me extra attention and pushed me because they knew my capabilities. The PCAs helped me every day and they were kind and considerate. Even the cleaning staff interacted with me and I enjoyed the time they spent sterilizing my area. The only complaint that I had was the quality and taste of the food.
