I recently spent a couple of hours at MacKenzie Health in the emergencie department with my son. I was pleasantly surprised with the short wait and the service we received. The nurses and doctor were amazing. They managed to put my son at ease which isn't something easy to do. Keep up the great work!

I recently visited Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill with an ailing older parent. From the moment we arrived at check in, to the time we left, the staff was simply great. Caring, compassionate, and thorough are all words that came to mind. It is never fun to be in the Emergency Department but I appreciate the care and compassion that we received from the staff. Thank you!

My wife broke her arm in a car accident, had a spl...

My wife broke her arm in a car accident, had a splint applied in the ER and was told to go to Fracture Clinic the next Thursday. While at the Clinic it was determined she required an operation to properly re-set the broken bone pieces. They initially set that evening foor the operation, but due to overload said go home and they would call in the morning, no food or drink after midnight. The next day we had to call the hospital midafternoon since the hospital never called. They said to wait until next day, no food, drink after midnight. Again, no call, so we called once again. They finally said to come in that day, and the operation took place FINALLY. It was not the waiting, but rather the lack of proper communication as they said they would and the lack of information.
We once again attended the fracture clinic the following week, and we noticed that the clinic is woefully under-staffed - admin., nursing, doctors, support staff (cast appliers). ONLY 2 Doctors, one of which was also on call to Emergency. Much better staff scheduling is required in the whole hospital. Fire some of the useless Staff (CEO< President, VP's Directors) and put the funds to the proper staff (Nurses, Doctors, support staff, etc) that deal directly with the public.

This Hospital is house of Horror. Save yourselves ...

This Hospital is house of Horror. Save yourselves and never walk into this place. The administrations at Mackenzie health are nothing but liars and corrupt. I was physically assaulted and abused on many occasions by a Doctor who works for this hospital. After suffering for so long I told few drs and to some of my family friends who encouraged me to immediately report him to the administration. GOD how wrong was I to do it. I was victimized all over again. They lied to me. I was intimidated, harassed and manipulated over and over by entire administration. The patient relationship at the Hospital was absolutely terrible human being (James Sweeney) wouldn't even allow me to file a full complaint or explain entire situation of what has happened to me. Key members of the Hospitals management team were aware of the offences this doctor has committed against me because I showed them the evidence but after manipulating me for months, making me believe they are helping me they chose to go against me and even setting me up with a phone call to go the Hospital so that they can serve me with Notice of Trasspass! All of this after I filed a complaint with higher authority about the doctor. They did this to assist him cover up for him and worried about their reputation rather then worrying about US the patient who put our life our health into their hands. The so called "dr" and the Hospital employees accessed my health records without my consent activly just to cause further stress. Its a long story and still going on, BUT please whoever will read this review, I beg you please do not walk into this Hospital without recording everything. Make sure you get a copy of your records, check who's accessed your health records and read what they say! I'm blessed I have recorded every single interaction with every person I have been in communication at this Hospital and every time I have walked into this hospital I have recorded everything ABSOLUTELY everything, not for anything else but rather to protect myself and I must say having the evidence is PRICELESS
I will never stop fighting for justice.I have only just begun!

I was in the ER for Heart Palpitations 2 weeks ago. I am very thankful for the caring nurses in the ER, even the Administrative Lady in the Registration was very pleasant and kind. Such a great job they did looking after me. I only waited 15 mins. to be assessed/interviewed by the triage nurse, another nurse was taking my vitals, which showed my heart rate was 166. Another nurse already telling the other nurse that i need an ECG, which happened very fast, another nurse taking my blood and preparing my IV site. After I completed my registration, my name was called to go inside, I only waited 2 mins. in the waiting area, bed was ready for me, another nurse took me inside, hook me up in the monitor, start my IV, didn't wait for too long before Dr. T. Sull came in and assessed me, he was very calm and explained to me the plan of treatment, he wants to run some blood test, have a CXR, and that he will refer me to a Cardiologist. After I had my IV bolus injection , my heart rate went back to normal. I remembered there were 3 nurses by my side and Dr. T. Sull while i am getting ready to receive the medication. I was monitored again after the IV medication. Very pleased and very thankful. Keep up the great work! Kudos to all!

We had the amazing opportunity of welcoming our First Grandchild this past week. Our daughter had an amazing experience! The awesome staff in the Labour and Delivery department and in the Mom and Baby floor did an exceptional job taking care of our daughter, son-in-law and of course, our Little Newborn bundle of joy! The whole Team worked extremely well with our daughter's Midwife Team!! Thank you to everyone!!You should all be proud!!

Always always always a bad experience at this hospital. I've been living in the area for over 10 years and it is the only hospital close by. From ER visits, to appointment phone calls, to checkups and checkin procedures, they are rude REGARDLESS. Especially the secretaries in the ER environment. They treat patients like we're not humans and that they are unhappy with their lives so they put everyone down with them. I can't wait till Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital opens but i HOPE the rumours aren't true and some nurses from mackenzie health will be transferring to mackenzie vaughan.

This hospital does not even deserve 1 star. The emergency in this hospital is absolutely terrible, very disorganized, cold and understaffed. We spent 5 hours before the doctor even saw us and the nurses were more interested in having a birthday party in the recess room rather than doing their jobs. Anytime I had a question they never had any straight answers. I had to remind the nurse that the doctor ordered an IV for my mom because they didn t bother to check for an entire hour. I definitely will never come back to this hospital again.

Surprised that the system for checking in patients as well as status of patients was quite modern here. Friendly staff and the tech used here made the long wait times more bearable. Seeing the status of a loved one helped to make the time go by faster and knowing that they were actually moving through the process was comforting. Hopefully this system is or will be deployed across more hospitals in Canada. Overall a good experience. Would hate to think what the wait times would be without the technology.

Not sure when they will hit the button but it sure...

Not sure when they will hit the button but it sure seems like government should have back in December. The hospital is where some people get born, fixed-up, and die. Not the best place to be no matter what, but we need them. The people that choose to take care of us are superheroes even when they fail or make mistakes. To be able to deal with the day to day craziness called human behaviour is a lot to handle, yes some shouldn t have chosen their career and have no compassion but that happens in many careers. Life is full of surprises. God bless anyone that enters a hospital. All the best.

I have been in the emergency department of this ho...

I have been in the emergency department of this hospital few times in past month. One of the worst hospital. They make you sit on the chairs for hours and hours since they don't have enough bed. Most of the nurses are not happy to be there, and you can tell from the way they are treating the patients.
I guess they are so proud since their system and registration is computerized and you get a print out record of your visit, however their report is full of error. For example the discharged me without even checking my temperature and pressure but in the report says they did. (Eventhough my blood pressure was really high the first time they checked, they didn't check again before releasing me)
Another example is the medication they were supposed to give me and forgot to do so was recorded with a time stamp. The doctors are not knowledgeable and all they do is giving pain killer and send you home without knowing the reason of the pain. Last night spent more than 6 hours there with zero result and that was the worst 6 hours of my life. Extremely busy, under staffed, not enough space, even for the nurses to move. This hospital should be seriously closed. I have heard so many sad stories from other patients who visited this hospital. I would never return again, and continue writing until something is done.

the visiting hour policy for Mackenzie Richmond Hi...

the visiting hour policy for Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital is a joke at mother and baby centre. At lease for room 5211 after 8;30 pm on Oct 24, 2018. Very disappointed to this hospital. Very unorganized and not a safe place for normal families.

Also we got life threatening from some other rude visitors last nigh. The night shift manager promised us there would be security guards walk with us to the car and pass the information to the day crew. . This morning when I double check with the day crew. No one knows what s going on. I should have called 911, but the hospital staff stopped me.

Great ED for what it is.

Great ED for what it is.
WAIT TIMES: You have to understand they basically see the most # of patients in the GTA, and that the population has outgrown the facility, hence the opening of the new hospital soon. For that reason I can't complain about wait times because I'm aware of this, as everyone should be before they complain. THIS IS A HOSPITAL NOT A WALK IN CLINIC. Don't take up space for your cold that just appeared this morning.

STAFF: Drs, nurses, and receptionists in the ED are very nice as long as you are. They are human and deal with some pretty outrageous people so do what you can to be polite, I promise you they will only treat you the same way. Many of them are also highly educated in their field and some specific niches. A quick google search of their names will show you that. The reassessment/discharge process can be confusing, I had a question for the Dr but it took a while to get a hold of him.

My only negative would be that they don't treat chronic disease too well. My father had really bad shoulder pain to the point where he could not sleep or move, that kept getting worse everyday. After having his family Dr. not do anything, he went to the ED. They told him to do Physio and sent him home. Eventually after going to the family Dr. for 6 months, he finally wrote him an MRI, turns out he had 2 tears and some cysts in his shoulder. The ED should have sent him for an MRI.

OVERALL: Great facility, with really good ED staff, has seen so many improvements in the past 5 years, and hoping to see more.

I have visited this hospital several times for myself and family and at best I would say it is mediocre. I would go back for something straight forward but anything complicated I would definitely get another opinion. The staff don't know how to communicate well and the nursing care is really lacking. I question the quality of care every time but there's no other place nearby unfortunately.

My wife with our baby went to the emergency ward , the Dr. was chatting with one of the crew while many patients were suffering and after that Dr. with minimum care spend 1 minute to explain a worthless treatness to my wife, He also was very rude it is brought to the "Patient relation coordinator's attention", and nobody followed up yet. At the end I have an advice to whoever read this comment, If you have any enemy or haters do not do any thing just convince them to go and visit this hospital for treatment,

The only thing worse than knowing that a loved one...

The only thing worse than knowing that a loved one was sent to a hospital, is knowing they were sent to Mackenzie Health.

Though doctors here have the means to save lives, some of them have the ignorance or contempt not to. I say this because someone I know could have died here twice, over something totally preventable that didn't take a practicing physician to figure out.

Some staff here, particularly in Triage, are very good. But the good staff are few, and usually in between crabby staff who don't care at all. The whole system here is flawed, and no efforts seemed to have been made to improve it.

I've been coming to this hospital for over 15 years, only because it's the closest, and it hasn't changed from my experiences back then.

I often consider driving to Newmarket for my hospital needs, which is more worth it.

Worst hospital I've ever experienced. Waited over ...

Worst hospital I've ever experienced. Waited over 3 hours with a bleeding finger and face from dog bites. The doctor (Dr. Ping Fu) saw me, very rushed, and walked out without telling me or any of the nurses what to do next..said he would clean the finger bite up and bandage it. I sat there bleeding (it started up again when he took the bandage off) for over 10 minutes before we had to ask a nurse to come look at it. I was directed to yet another waiting room without being looked at, and they didn't take the time to stitch it up and treat it properly. When getting a 2nd opinion today (cut was still bleeding), the doctor said that 3-5 stitches could have been put in, but the window of opportunity was missed after the initial 24 hours and he put me on a diffetent type of pain killer to avoid the negative side effects from T3s that Dr. Fu prescribed.

One of the triage nurses was very ignorant and rude when I asked about an estimated waiting time. I understand that this might not be top priority, but she shouldn't have spoken to me so rudely. The doctor (Dr. Ping Fu) should have taken the time to completely treat my injuries.

A noticeably positive change in the ER was evident compared to previous visits to the ER. Very efficient and helpful staff made the visit less stressful. The doctor showed care and concern to my mother and provided valuable information to her, he even made it a point to expedite further tests that were originally set for a month from now and instead those tests will be made within days. Keep up the good work!

I don t know who can rate 5 stars for emergency services when you wait 7 hours. I could not sleep cause of pain in my stomach, went at 5 am to emergency waited 16 hours and they could not diagnose appendicitis treated me like junkie who needed pain killers. Emergency staff tried to send me home. If not for my wife I would be dead. She demanded CAT scan cause they were so unprofessional. It showed it was already bursted only then they start moving. Thanks to doctor and his team that saved me! But to get to professionals it is a lottery!!!!!

Really bad experience waiting time on the emergenc...

Really bad experience waiting time on the emergency for ultrasound: 6 hours! why? Short of staff. There was only 1 technician for whole hospital! Not acceptable I will never never come back here.

Oh also no privacy! I dont want anyone to know if I m or not healthy if I have kidney or appendix! A doctor should not assume that everyone is confortable with them telling the diagnosis beside everyone on the waiting room.

O lets talk about waiting room: If you want to be sick go sit there for a minute you would catch all different virus! No space to move, to sit...

I talked to a nurse and she clearly told me: this hospital is bad. short of staff and always like that bad reviews everyone knows that. Wow what kind of hospital is that!?

Worest hospital i would say that i have experinced in GTA. Staff are rude. They have no mercy on kids. I took my child there and they didnt care if he was hungry or tired or not. My child with spcial needs sat all day on a rough chair. I went to ask the nurse a question she was very angry and didnt even look at me nor did she care what was my concern. We pay so much taxes and we get these garbage hospitals with lack of services and long waiting line ups even if you are in a worest condition. I am not sure how Canada considers its self as developed nation when it cant even provide proper hospitals to its citizens, i have been to somer developing countries they had better hospitals than us here. For God s someone do something about this hospital here. Bad experience taken my childern were more than once.

I will NEVER take anyone to this hospital ever aga...

I will NEVER take anyone to this hospital ever again. I had two extremely awful experiences. First my father who is in his 70's, severe diabetic was in emergency complaining of chest and arm pain. Was kept waiting for several hours and no one ever looked at him. He left without being checked and went to another hospital where he was told he had a heart attack. Second my aunt was taken by ambulance because she had fainted and was bleeding rectally. No tests were done. She was told she is dehydrated. Went home, passed out again, then taken to another hospital and had to have 10 blood transfusions and was diagnosed with a GIST tumor. How many people must die before anyone does anything about this hospital. Sad thing is that the new campus is a 10 minute walk from home but I would rather go somewhere else!!!!!!

Our baby girl took her first breath in this hospital. Although we had some minor issues regarding the accommodation and room amenities, but outstanding help and support from staff totally overshadowed those . The staff made the best moments of our lives even better.
My appreciation would'nt be complete without thanking Dr. Khoshbakht and nurse Lucy in Mother and baby unit and Dr. J. Lee and nurse Tannisha from General surgery unit. They were so kind and supportive that we felt enchanted by their service, competency and professionalism ! Me, my wife and little Sophia cant thank you enough !!!

I also have to mention that in my opinion, without exaggeration, the care we received at the hospital, met or even exceeded the goals set out in the hospital's general care standards as were posted on the walls.

Came here in a really brutal mental state (depression, anxiety, and severely wanted to die and harm myself) in attempt to reach out for help but was not taken seriously at all because my arms and legs weren t blown off. I would have never come to a hospital had my mental state not been as bad as it was, but my experience here has taught me that mental illness is still extremely misunderstood and isn t taken seriously until you re at the the top of a building about to jump or already dead. To summarize just don t come here for mental illness related problems. I m sorry for all the patients coming in here who are dying and understand the triage system. If i could trade my mental illness for 2 broken arms and a rib I would, at least someone then would take my pain and condition seriously since it was visible. That s what coming here with mental illness feels like.

NO STARS! Almost killed me misdiagnosing a twisted intestine for simple constipation - no xray, sent me on my way home with the advice to use a fleet enema. The next day I was almost dead and barely made it to another hospital where major surgery had to be performed, in hospital almost a month recovering. Because of the delay caused by this hospital I had major complications which still affect me now. Hospital denied any wrongdoing.

I brought my fiance in as she was having stomach pains. We arrived at 2:20am. The nurses and Doctor that were on duty let my fiance sit there for hours and hours before attending to her. It is now 1130am and I called 6 times to try to find out if she is ok. They told me there is no cause for concern. But yet still she hasn't been attended to. I've watched people who came in way after her get treated and leave. Its funny thats in these time of racial discrimination a black female is not being treated as a human when in pain at the hospital. This is how people die. We have been treated better in 3rd world countries. This is absolutely horrible and disgusting and I will never come back to this hospital.

Imagine how many patients within a hospital have stomach problems and are forced to solely eat Jello or Soup? Not too many right because a hospital running out of Jello AND Soup seems like a completely sane occurrence. Then what is the alternative Mrs.Nurse? Powerade you say... true true. When Lebron is tired on the bench and the waterboy runs out of Powerade, I bet waterboy got a bowl of Lipton Soup ready for BronBron. I feel like I should email my priest to advise our parish to stop giving canned foods to impoverished countries but to start the "Mack needs Jello and Soup Foundation". Like I understand if they run out of Green Jello (Cuz it's the best) but cmon EVERY SINGLE FLAVOR. THEY SHOULD MAKE BLACK JELLO SO NO ONE EATS IT SO THEY JUST SHIP A BOATLOAD TO MACK HOSPITAL. Canada should've made the minimum wage 13 instead of 14. So they dedicate that dollar to provide all hospitals with more than enough jello and soup. I am shookith.

I was brought in new years eve after a bad reaction to someone slipping something into my drink. In and out of conciousness for 5 solid hours and in the ER for 9. On one of the moments I came to the nurse assigned to do my blood work said "she's just some drunk girl why are we running so many tests?" It was extremely upsetting as I at that point had no idea what was going on with me and was still very scared. Really poor attitude on that nurse other staff were very polite and kind

I visited the hospital recently with my daughter and had a wonderful experience. We went through emergency and found the process to be smooth. It was busy but we were attended to by a nurse within a few minutes of sitting. The doctor was quite pleasant although busy as it was a busy day. He ordered some tests and told us he would come back and chat with us once the results were in. The tests and the wait took just over 90 minutes which was more than acceptable. He decided after speaking with us and because of our daughters age to call in the on call pedeatrician. We saw her within the hour. She was thorough and spoke with us in a language we understood. We are now under care with a cardiologist on staff.
The entire experience has been a great one and I will continue to use this hospital for all my family's health needs. May I add that I have had the opportunity to visit your Urgent Care facility on Jane Street and found the doctors and the staff there to be efficient and quick.

Why make an appointment with a patient at 9:30am, when the doctor doesn't show up on time and "always comes in late"

I have to take time off work, book appointments, shift around my schedule to sit here and wait for a doctor who is always late? That's not fair to people and very unprofessional.

Parking is insane at 4$ for 30 mins. I should be out of here already but now because the doctor ( still ) has not shown up (35+ mins late) I am going to have to pay "full day" price for parking.

This is serious bullshit.

The first time I went there, I was in severe pain ...

The first time I went there, I was in severe pain which I was told required an operation done asap. I was placed in the waiting with no pain killers from10pm - 5am. However, the next day at around 8-9pm I got to settle in a too after being shifted several times. I was given a single dose of a perkeset pill at 7am that morning and received IV at around noon. (still on IV, and was told I could not eat, when they had no plans or estimated time as to when I would get to go through my operation). Every day I was told I could not eat because I "could" be going to my operation at any minute. This went on for about 4-5 days. During that waiting period, I was only able to experience 1 wonderful nurse which I don't remember what her name was. After all those days of experiencing the worst service and care I was sent home with nothing done. I saw a family doctor and was told I should have had the operation done regardless of what happened - this goes to show the kind of knowledge those nurses had. 4 months later, I had the same problem and went to another hospital (Markham Stoufville - which is amazing btw), told them my situation months ago and was told the same thing - "they should have still operated on you." Today, my 6yr old niece was having severe dry coughs which led to a fever. She laid in bed, cried and coughed uncontrollably. She was also having a hard time breathing. I got worried and of course took her to Mackenzie Health since it is the only one closest to my home and thought I'd give it another chance - but today was just THE LAST OF IT. I got there at exactly 11:20pm and waited until 2:40am to see a nurse. Finally, I got to see a Chinese, Male Nurse which I didn't get to get the name of. He worse glasses and wasn't fully fluent. He was very sloppy while checking her, it was like something I could do at home. He asked me 2 quick questions and wrote me prescriptions. This barely took 20 seconds. I waited 3 and a half hours for nothing. NOW, you can understand how frustrated and mad I am. After he wrote it, not with a single last word, he handed me the prescription and walked off. I had to come after him to ask him if there was anything he could possibly give to her for the time being because it is midnight and I didn't want to come across any complications in the middle of the night. He barely looked at me when he answered and said "Yea, go buy it at Shoppers Drug Mart or something." I was not about to put up a fight with this horrible nurse and service I received from him tonight with a 6 year old who was sick as hell and dying to go home and get some rest. If only I could remember his name, I would suggest everyone who is reading this to be sure to not go through him during an emergency because he is very sloppy and will not get anything done for you. I do not understand how a hospital does not have any medication to supply a patient with if they asked for it? I did not ask for a bottle, I simply asked for any remedy I could let her take to get her through the night. I didn't wait 3 and a half hours to see a poorly educated nurse and get prescriptions which I probably could have resulted to any other alternative that didn't require a note. Yet, I got nothing.I highly suggest nobody to go to this hospital. You may come across 1 or 2 wonderful nurses with a great and bright attitude who meet and greet you properly and is consistently checking up on you as they should because you are a patient in need. I also highly recommend whoever runs this hospital to have stop stiffing out and have more then 1 nurse on duty. In addition to it all, the nurses don't seem quite knowledgable so training is very much needed as well. Stocking up on medication to supply your patients might also be very important. My suggestion to all my readers who may have to visit Mackenzie Health, please take into consideration my story if you are planning to have any remedies to cure whatever it is you are going though. You might get luckier with Tele-Health.Good luck to all!

One mistake after another, too many individual instances to recount. Saddened to know this what passes for health care in a so called 1st world country!
ER Nurses know best, ask questions at your own peril.
Edit: comments above seem to only be true for the Emergency Room. Once the patient was moved out of emergency, things improved dramatically. Changing from one to two stars, because it is critical that the best care be provided to those in most need. Not that those who are stable deserve any less, but it is a question of priorities whoch this hospital has not yet figured out.

The worst emergency ever!!! There is always like 50 patients and only and only 1 doctor!!!!
You then end up waiting minimum 3 hours to visit the doctor and guess what, he/she says it is ok, nothing serious just take rest! And if you ask questions, she goes, I have no explanation for that!!!!
They don't care about people's time and staff don't behave as they are really busy due to low number.
The management must increase the number of the staffs and doctors, otherwise they better close this low quality service center.
Never ever try this horrible emergency.

I was taken to a collection agency after the hospital treated me for a work place injury. The annoying part was asking them for clarification for months on the 2 invoices that was sent to me for a 100 cad and 680 cad. I paid 600 cad in good faith and expecting the hospital yo confirm to me the actual payment but instead doing that they took my name to collection. I am pondering litigation

It only takes one person, her name is Jaheera to ruin the whole experience. My dad was schedule to move to the rehab hospital next day and she called daughter-in-law (my wife) that we need to arrange our own transportation. Meanwhile, my dad directly talked to a staff in the hospital to arrange an ambulance for him. My dad thought a staff would do it for him so he told us (me and my wife) not to arrange it to avoid double booking. We talked to the nurses and tried to call her to confirm if it was done but she never answered and her voice mail was full. A nurse advised us that it would be better to wait until the morning.

In the morning after we found out it was never booked, we tried to arrange the first available ambulance which was at 1:30 pm, then Jaheera was furious and threatened/notified us that she is going to KICK him out of the hospital if he doesn't move out before 12 because she thought we didn't do what we supposed to do. Was that really necessary? Is this acceptable to a patient and proper way to deal with the situation like this?

My uncle was admitted to the hospital through emergency, the nurses throughout our entire stay from emergency to admittance into a room were extremely full of themselves and were not patient. The nurse taking care of my uncle suggested that I didn t need to translate because she decided for herself that his ability to speak English was good enough when in fact I accompanied to do just that. She also whispered under her breath that I was asking too many questions, and too many of the same questions when she never actually directly answered any of them. I ve never been treated with that much disrespect in a situation where compassion and patience should be utmost. Very disappointed.

My father was referred to a team of specialist doctors that operate out of Mackenzie health and it was the best experience we had in terms of quality of care and efficiency of process. The entire sign in process was seamless and directions on the slip of paper to find / locate our room in the hospital very easy which can be quite unnerving in a big place. The volunteers were awesome. We have had previous experience at Brampton Civic and Trillium and Credit Valley and they don't come close.

I will not recommend this hospital to anyone!

I will not recommend this hospital to anyone!

It is now 12:31am, My 77 yr old father who fainted or had a mini stroke but regained consciousness (it's still undertermined) has been waiting to see a doctor for over 4hrs. Every medical staff seems to be extremely stressed out and when asked when a doctor will come, no one was able to answer and only said we are in line and 3rd on the list...

I overheard one of the nurse talking to another nurse about a patient and quote: "it's not my fault she's been coughing for 5 weeks after cuba." And see her walk away carelessly... unacceptable!!

I have been admitted to this hospital myself a few times and I had a very similar experience with the wait time, in addition one doctor told me I had a hairline fracture but came back within mins and told me I didn't... since my cases wasn't as severe I did not bother to review. However, with a 77yr old whom fainted, I'd imagine there'd be a little more care from an accredited hospital... Unacceptable! Something needs to be done!

Edit:. I just asked a nurse when we can expect a doctor and was told the doctor has a very crucial patient at the moment. I then asked how many doctors are there and I was told every emergency room only has "ONE" doctor... While I see there are at least over 20 patients waiting...

It's been 3 hours since a family friend is in the hospital. There's been 3 nurses in the emergency green zone working. There's been nothing we can do for the pain after blood tests and ct scan after the initial diagnosis of kidney stones in last 2.5 hours. We've requested for some pain relief medications and our answer was "There's a lot of people in a lot of pain" and "They're going by the charts". This just exemplifies how helpless everyone is in this room.

Whether you ask physicians or patients, the answer...

Whether you ask physicians or patients, the answer is the same Canada is failing to provide timely access to medical care.

The U.S.-based Commonwealth Fund, in conjunction with the Canadian Institute of Health Information, just published the results of their health policy survey of adults in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. The results indicate that Canada is not just lagging, but is literally scraping the bottom when it comes to indicators of timely access to health care.

Here s a sample of our most spectacular failures:

Ability to get a same or next-day appointment when sick: worst
Ability to get after-hours care (without resorting to visiting an emergency department): second-worst
Wait for treatment in the emergency department: worst
Wait to see a specialist: worst
Wait for elective surgery: worst
Of course, the fact that Canadians face significant wait times for treatment will not surprise anyone familiar with the Fraser Institute s annual wait times survey. Last year physicians reported that their patients waited longer, on average, than they ever had in the survey s 26-year history. Importantly, they also reported that patients are waiting longer than what they (the physicians) consider to be clinically reasonable.
Mackenzi emergency is like war zone , don t even think to bring your patients here , average waiting is around 10 hours ,people sleep on the floor and Broken chairs , this is not the North American facility , staff are Pleasant and nice but they can t do much since there is no enough space for such population in Richmond Hill. , where the governments budget spend god knows , go look at other countries, this is embarrassing, people have donated millions of dollars to this hospital , they need emergency room to be three times bigger with new beds ,

If you need an urgent care or emergency, avoid going to this hospital. You will die in the waiting room before you see a doctor. The worst hospital of Toronto.
My mom is a heart transplant patient. Today she had a high heart rate, stomachache and was vomating a lot. She got registered in the system in 10 minutes but we waited 2 hours for a doctor to see her and guess what! She was in so much pain that I had to take her to Toronto General Hospital instead. We didn't see any doctor there. The nurses were extreamly rude and refused to answer our questions. I asked one of the nurses if she can let us know her test results and just she replied "ask your family doctor if you want it" and I'm like, she is in emergency right now!!

I was having the worst anxiety of my life and had to go to the emergency department. The EMS staff, the doctor, the nurses, and the crisis worker were all very kind and professional and helped calm me down. One of the housekeeping staff noticed my parents were standing by my stretcher so he brought some chairs over so they could sit. I got a quick referral for a psychiatrist. I would be in a much worse shape if I didn't come to the hospital when I did so thank you to everyone who was involved in my visit!

This hospital is a disgrace. To hospitals, medical...

This hospital is a disgrace. To hospitals, medical professionals and profession in general. My father in law just spent 6 hrs in triage with appendicitis. 2.5 hrs to get morphine after triage. That all with reminder after reminder after remnder to the staff. If we have not mentioned that MD sais he needs antibiotics no one would have done anything.

The only person who was really working and trying to help was nurse Sergey. He really cared and tried to help everyone. But one person cannot possibly take care of all the patients in the emergency.

If i could give this hospital a minus rating i would without any hesitation. I was so appalled at the sheer incompetence of this place that i research the complaint process with the hospital itself and with the ombudsman. And i damn sure will go further with this.

Mackenzie would have turned in his coffin would he know what kind of hospital is named after him.

Disgraceful!

Our second son was born at Mackenzie Richmond Hill...

Our second son was born at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital in October and it was a great experience, similar to the birth of our first son three years ago.

The entire team - including clinicians and support staff - was very professional and gave my wife and I confidence that we are being properly cared for. The nurses and doctors in Labour & Delivery and in the post-partum units were really nice and kept a close eye on mom and baby to ensure all goes well, and and thoroughly checked-in on them during the 24 hours post-delivery. A special shout out to Dr. Stacey Grossman, who followed my wife s pregnancy and, coincidentally, was on shift the night she went into labour, so also delivered the baby.

Thank you all for everything!
