My wife broke her arm in a car accident, had a splint applied in the ER and was told to go to Fracture Clinic the next Thursday. While at the Clinic it was determined she required an operation to properly re-set the broken bone pieces. They initially set that evening foor the operation, but due to overload said go home and they would call in the morning, no food or drink after midnight. The next day we had to call the hospital midafternoon since the hospital never called. They said to wait until next day, no food, drink after midnight. Again, no call, so we called once again. They finally said to come in that day, and the operation took place FINALLY. It was not the waiting, but rather the lack of proper communication as they said they would and the lack of information.
We once again attended the fracture clinic the following week, and we noticed that the clinic is woefully under-staffed - admin., nursing, doctors, support staff (cast appliers). ONLY 2 Doctors, one of which was also on call to Emergency. Much better staff scheduling is required in the whole hospital. Fire some of the useless Staff (CEO< President, VP's Directors) and put the funds to the proper staff (Nurses, Doctors, support staff, etc) that deal directly with the public.
