We came here for an event. The lobby and grounds looked very nice and the location was exceptional. The service from the staff that we did interact with was excellent. Very kind and professional. We also had a lunch catered by the hotel and everyone was delicious. I didn't see any of the rooms, but it wouldn't have a problem recommending the hotel to someone who was coming into down.

I really wish I could add another star, 5 stars is not enough! The Fairmont Miramar never fails to impress me. The quality of service, the staff, the location and the resort itself; the best we've ever experienced!

The Fairmont Miramar hotel is beautiful. It has the grace of an old fashion, updated property.
My only suggestion is that they increase the amount of food and beverage service that's available after 10 o'clock at night.
If you like great Staff in good service this is the place for you.
BTW This is a great dog friendly hotel.

Hotel is nice and a great location. Staff is really nice. So why the rating of 3 star? The service in the bar area minus the bartender is horrible. These two individuals do not have any idea of service. We ordered a nice bottle of champagne and the server grab another tables ice bucket which had water in it and actually put our nice bottle in it and walked away. Before that it took nearly 20 min to acknowledge our existence. Other guest around us were all getting up to track the two servers down. I would think the hotel would not want their guest to have such a poor experience specially at $1000 plus a night room cost. May not return to this hotel just because of this experience.

Well we are back two weeks later, short story NEVER coming back.

Bartender's, bellmen, parking staff and maids are great, top notch guys...we have traveled around the world and I'm shocked how terrible the service is from the front desk-pool. Who runs this ship, fire them! Great location and just because of that and the Bungalow is not a reason to SUCK up front.

NEVER COMING BACK, this hotel is no Malibu Inn...

My son and his friend was visiting from The military during the holidays. We decided to go on the Fairmont Miramar - Hotel & Bungalows tour. The tour guide Kayday, and the driver did a great job. I'm kind of bummed though, that the tour allowed young kids on this mostly adult themed tour. Kayday had to tone it down a bit. But I Think it would've been much better if Kayday was not restricted. Anyway, thumbs up to Fairmont Miramar - Hotel & Bungalows.

I'm a Fairmont president's club member and have stayed at many different Fairmont hotels. This is by far the worst! Every night on our stay, the music is so loud from the bungalows that we can't sleep until 1-2 AM! The bass was literally shaking things in the room. Now it's Sunday and they're blaring the music all day too (trying to take a nap since I couldn't sleep last night). The phone in the room is broken, and the bathroom stinks like mold

Nice

2 star rating because this hotel is pretty overrated. Not sure where to begin. We booked an ocean view room and to avoid disappointment upon entering the room I asked the front desk if it was partial or full and he said all rooms are pretty much partial ocean view!! So why not clarify that as we're booking?? The next day we went to check on the beach club service and the person handling reservations mentioned people book months in advance because they have limited room. It says nowhere on Expedia that we should've done that. So we decide to go to the pool only to find very limited chaise availability with them being pretty much booked. Our room was cleaned only when we made the request and the phone system internally is inefficient. If it wasn't for that fig tree I really don't know what this hotel has to offer because it's not worth the price.

Last year, I booked the exclusive Bungalow One for a total of 32 nights on business and with the total cost being $165,000 (inc Room Tax) it was well worth it, I was treated like a foreign dignitary and with the concierge it was fantastic!

Room was clean and view was nice. The heat didn t work and it was freezing (rainy and cold unseasonably cold).
Room service and attendant was wonderful.
Tablet in room didn t work, they picked it up promptly but it never did come back to the room as promised.
Item was left in the room, they retrieved it right away and shipping info was complete. I paid for next day shipping and four days later still have not received item. They insisted it went out days ago however the USPS disagrees and tracking shows it wasn t picked up till late afternoon three days later. I can understand mistakes however each of the four people I spoke with promised that I would receive an email with the status... they did not follow through.
Finally upon check in I was told they were not even close to occupancy and a late check out should be fine but would have to request in the am. Same staff member told me the next morning there was no way to have a late checkout due to them being completely full. ???
For the price paid I would think attention to detail and customer service would be 5star.

I dont necessarily live a "fabulous" lifestyle many folks around the hotel seem to live, but even with that in mind, it was tough not to give 2 stars.

The GOOD:
- The location....i can't say anything more other than it is in a prime spot next to the beach. It is SUPER convenient to get to sandy area and i consider it walk-able to the boardwalk. Location itself might be a reason to stay here.
- Staff at the bar in the lobby was nice, pleasant, and efficient with the service.

The BAD (Warning - its a bit long):

HOTEL itself - Hotel is what i would consider, pretty average. The amentities have even less than what i would say average hotels comes includes. Pool is pretty small (average size of someone's home pool) and ridiculously crowded. There were probably like 30 people there and yes, that was enough to make it crowded.
- We stayed in one of their Bungalows, which they seem to consider a premium room. It was a pretty average room with a large amount of decorations to make it feel "higher class". Even our friends that were staying in the main rooms were NOT impressed. Bungalows were also very VERY close to the outdoor activities where it was super noisy.

STAFF - Overall staff was pretty friendly. But it wasn't very convenient that we were told nothing during the check in. No wifi, no description of where restuarants were or their hours, no luggage service (we would have refused anyways but still would have been nice to ask), nothing....again they were friendly.

ADDITIONAL CHARGES...oh the charges!!!
- typically these days when leaving a hotel and didnt use any of the minibar/amenities, we just leave and let the hotel auto check out. Fortunately we didnt do that as the first thing the front desk staff asked was "did you use our valet service? No? Okay we'll take that charge off then.? Wait what?! why was there even a charge in the first place and what would have happened if we didnt actually check out?
- Was supposed to get the invoiced emailed but nope. Our CC got over charge (what we considered over charge), and finally got the invoice. These are the ADDITIONAL CHARGES (per day) that we were not aware of:
1.Occupancy Tax
2.TMD Assessment
3.California Tourism Assessment
4.Property Based Assessment District
5.Hotel Amenity Charge

After calculating the additional cost per day, it equates to about 25% of the room cost. So we paid 125% of the room cost per day. Paying the fees is not the problem. Charging without notice is the problem.

Hotel is not bad and definitely would stay again if i HAD to, but it isnt impressing anyone other than maybe your bank.

Awesome place to day drink. Really chill spot with a bunch of cool people. Drinks were a little pricey but it's California. The beach views are amazing and I was relaxed and was meeting people left and right. Spent hours here and didn't get bored at all. The music was cool and there was seating both inside and out. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Probably the best time drinking I had. 5 stars hands down. Will be returning in November and can't wait to go back to Bungalows!

I attended an event as a guest. This is a beautiful property just steps from Santa Monica Beach and some of the best Pacific views in the LA area. Location, location, location! It's also just a couple of blocks from the 3rd Street shopping district with plenty of food and shopping options.

Great hotel a little pricey but that s why it s a Fairmont. Had a good experience here the staff are always attentive and make your stay wonderful. I got the Malibu view room with balcony. Was awesome to be able to sit outside and have coffee each morning. On weekends they have a beach service where they will drive you down to the beach and get you set up and also get you food. Was exceptional service down at the beach the boys down their worked very very hard and should be commended!! The pool was busier on weekends but we didn t seem to have a problem finding chairs. We did go out in the morning already though. The free coffee in the lobby is a great touch for guests. Nice to be able to take up to your room and have it on the balcony. We ate breakfast once at the restaurant it was good, but we just went to Whole Foods and got our own as you can get a mini fridge for your room. The food by the pool is really good their burger wow so good!!!!

Always exceptional service and a relaxing atmosphere that is hard to find at other hotels. The pool and inner garden area make a private setting where you can relax. Rooms are nice and spacious in the old wing. Fig restaurant serves up memorable dinners and great breakfast or brunch. The fitness area is well equipped and in a great space with views over the pool.

I visited the Bungalow and got there right at noon when they open. It was a fantastic bar. They have ping pong, pool, and a fire pit. There were also a few bars so drinks were never far away. The place feels like you are hanging out at a house. I hear it gets really busy at night but enjoyed my day visit.

Great Hotel with excellent service ... The staff really care about their guests. The lobby is vibrant throughout the night filled with an eclectic group of patrons.

The rooms are well appointed. The location can't be beat being across the street from the beach.
