This is a real classy hotel! Beautiful lobby,it's right across from the beach. The prices are expensive, but it is a great place to stay.
Great lounge environment with interesting decor, although very crowded with a long line on weekends.
Ordinarily, I would give any Fairmont Hotel a 5-star rating out-of-the-gate; however, my recent experience at this particular (and handsome) hotel was less-than-stellar, thus, the ping down to 4. Here's why. Yesterday, I drove up from San Diego to catch up with my old friend, Mike, a TV/Film producer in Hollywood. He and I enjoy the finer things, and one of those finer things happens to be sweet 'n swanky joints where we can enjoy a tasty cocktail while watching the beautiful people. So, we show up, make our way to the Bungalows that face the main drag (with great views), only to find 20 or so tables which were all Reserved. Yes, complete with "Reserved Signs." Well, except one. Given we're rule followers by nature, we proceeded to snag the single table that did NOT have a Reserved Sign. We then proceeded to retrieve our $20 cocktail and $15 beer, and sequestered said non-reserved table.
We had just gotten into our cool beverages and hot stories when we were approached by one of the staff. He proceeded to tell us we needed to move because the table was reserved. I'll cut to the chase here, as the conversation took longer than you're likely interested in, but it's safe to say, as pleasant as the gent was, he needed us to move. We graciously pushed back, saying we were going to finish our drinks first, given: (a) there were no other places for us to sit, (b) we didn't want to stand among an entire patio of sitting individuals, and (c) for the price of the experience, along with the lack of proper labeling, we felt we were perfectly within our rights to take a little extra time. Oh, especially given there were THREE tables within tossing distance, whereby the reserving-parties-in-question could have happily sat. He said, "I get it guys, and I even agree, but frankly, I don't care enough to continue this, so do as you like." That was a funny moment.
Then, no more than 3 minutes later, a woman--no doubt his superior, approached us saying we had to move. We shared the same conversation, she offered to buy us a drink, and asked us to move. Mike made an "LA STORY kind of joke" along the lines of, "Oh, we can stand over here (showing small space), but not over here (just two inches away)." As he referenced the line from the movie, she pseudo-chuckled and after I very kindly said, "I'm going to finish these last few sips and we'll be on our way," she was on her way. I figured that at 4 in the afternoon, it was the least they could do.
I share this long story to say two things: (1) Put proper signs on ALL tables which are reserved, and if the entire space is such, then put a sign at the door, so we won't waste our time, nor our money on a potentially sub-par experience--especially given this city offers so many options in which to dine or drink. And note that we chose THIS one. (2) in amongst all your "luxurious spaces full of beautiful people," kindly set aside some comfortable spots for the ordinary lot of us who enjoy the experience Fairmont provides. Thank you.
One last thing. Might I suggest you replace your "over-the-counter Schweppes Tonic (Carbonated Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Sugar, Citric Acid, Flavors, Sodium Benzoate, and Quinine) with a "truly-unique-and-one-of-a-kind-healthier-alternative" in FEVER TREE TONIC (Carbonated SPRING Water, Natural FRUIT Sugar, Citric Acid, Natural Flavorings including NATURAL Quinine). You'll thank me for it. Thanks for listening (and reading) and I'm sure we'll see you again. CHEERS!
Beautiful facilities, amazing historic fig tree, excellent service
I can t speak for the rooms or the staff inside. However, we are here on vacations Dan got turned around trying to find our way. We ended up having m the valet parking lot of the hotel. We tried to explain that we were just trying to make a u-turn and we were met with the nastiest response from one of the attendants. Then after i told him that his attitude was disgusting he proceeded to berate me. When we tried to explain to him there was a car coming towards us he told us our car was small and we need to drive. When i told him again that he was being rude he told me it was private property and he would write me a ticket. Not a good impression of the hotel.
Spacious comfortable room-balcony with view of Santa Monica Pier-excellent restaurant Fig-helpful professional staff-highly recommend this convenient upscale hotel
Very nice views from the balconies there, we all felt very safe to enjoy ourselves, because of their ATF Security Officer's that they have on staff there assuring our safety.
Ambiance was really nice, definitely more of a casual place. Drinks are good but a little pricey. Definitely can be crowded outside. No line if you go around 10, but definitely a long line around midnight. Bathroom was surprisingly clean, even the co-ed one!
Fig Resturant was excellent. Fast service, great food and cordial staff made for an enjoyable experience. 5 star job guys!
Excellent atmosphere at the bungalow and the lobby bar. For table service, head to the lobby bar, and for a fun crowd head to bungalow
Nice overall hotel. Great staff and location. Rooms could use a bit of updating, but not bad. Main level, lobby, pool and Fig restaurant are quite nice. Would stay again.
The room was really nice, and the breakfast at the Fig was good (service there was great :)). Otherwise, I would rate my stay (March 6th) at 0 stars. The service and staff were comically horrible. The bungalow (bar) itself was a neat setting, but I can't possibly articulate how horrible the staff was. I've stayed at other fairmont locations, and have always enjoyed them..but this was an extreme deviation from the normal
I would recommend staying somewhere else.
Situated just off the pier, beautiful place for staying in santa Monica.. really enjoyed my stay here. Service was great and accessibility is wonderful. Had a couple of good meals as well. Would love to come back
Lobby bar is a comfortable alternative to the hectic Bungalow.
Beautiful hotel and staff. My farite hotel in Santa Monica. Sometimes you can spot celebrities. Restaurant and bars inside. Highly recommend.
The atmosphere was great and service was good. We had a reserved table outside and really enjoyed our time. I'll be coming back for sure.
Great views, nice rooms and excellent service. Very nice pool grounds. Location is great for Santa Monica. Good exercise room and equipment. Very good restaurant, Figs, with great service and innovative creations.
We were at the restaurant Fig at the Fairmont Miramar. The food was delicious. All seven of us had a great meal. We were there during Happy Hour and our meal was about half the cost. I will say that the restaurant was very noisy but worth going for the food.
best hotel in Santa Monica area... greatly designed rooms... great open lobby... good sized gym..... free bike rental for hotel residents
Very nice hotel, with that beautiful large tree welcoming you and the turtle fish ponds, privacy. it's on point!
A little pricey but the amenities are worth it. Great building and the bungalow bar is off the chain. Plus you can stare at the Pacific ocean all day long.
Staff at the front desk was awesome and provided swift and efficient service. Fairmont Miramar - Hotel & Bungalows is awesome place to stay
The hotel has a perfect location the rooms are very spacious I loved the jacuzzi and the dining room. The food is good and the service excellent
The Best Bunglows of all and the food at its best Really appriciate it
Beautiful grounds with an incredible view close to everything on the Santa Monica waterfront.
Typical Fairmont!
Can it get better?
Beautiful hotel. VERY friendly and helpful staff!!
Great location. Very well kept property, friendly staff. Our room on the fifth floor partial ocean view is above "The bungalow", essentially a bar/nightclub and the music kept us awake until late and this was a Monday night! For the price of this hotel I expect a peaceful nights sleep! How about a refund Fairmont?
To revise this I spoke to the desk manager and expressed my dismay the next day. I did not get a refund but they were gracious enough to make reasonable concessions for another night in a different room. Thank you Max!
WARNING: According to the front desk this place does not have a set check-in. I arrived at 4:30 pm only to be told that my room was not ready. Over the phone I was told by the hotel staff that check-in is at 3:00 pm and I even knew who I spoke with. However the gentleman at the front desk acted as if he had no idea who I was talking about and was not apologetic nor was he helpful. I asked him for an approximate wait time and he brushed me off and said he didn't know. He told me that the hotel doesn't have a set check-in time. I've stayed at hotel chains including Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Ritz Carlton's, Montage, St. Regis and never have I heard such a ridiculous statement. I don't have a problem with my room not being ready as long as you own up to it and treat your guests in a respectable manner.
Luckily I happened to have my email confirmation on my iPhone which I had to re-wait in line for another 15 minutes to get help from another gentleman. As soon as he saw the email confirmation a room happened to magically pop up. I don't expect this kind of service from a world class hotel brand such as the Fairmont.
On top of being disappointed by the lack of service the rooms are extremely small and the decor is outdated.
Next time I stay in Santa Monica I will give Loews and Shutters a try.
PS They charge $40 a day guest valet parking
I was attending a work conference and all of staff was great, the food was good and in general was a great experience.
Awesome spot with lots of places to hang out and grab a bite to eat.
Beautiful setting and the food was superb delicious
Great, immersive experience for a conference from social events in the Bungalow, to great-sized conference rooms, to great dining experiences outside under the fig tree. Staff was personable and professional.
Very well located, the service is the best in the area!
Everything about this place in fantastic! Service, food, people, no complaints about anything!
Came for Easter weekend and was pleasantly surprised! The hotel was fairly full but always kept the common areas clean and tidy. The kids rule the pool but the hot tub was a fun time with other adults. Wonderful bar great breakfast food. The best part? le labo toiletries. If you know, you know. Classic modern decorations, very posh and comfortable.
Very Grand hotel! Everything is a 10! From customer service to the cleanliness. The hotel is only 5 blocks from Santa Monica Pier and 3rd Street Promenade! I would say if you are into the grand type of hotel, this is for you. The hotel has small stores, restaurant, spa, and a haircut shop. One of the beautiful restaurants you wanna go to is Fig, it is very aesthetically pleasing. The only problem about our stay was no fridge but that's it. I would stay here again!
The bungalow is a decent place. Cool vibe. Didnt love all the people there. Kinda bro ish for me. The location is great very beach vibe. Service was pretty good. A little expensive but nothing outrageous for Santa Monica. I would go there again if I was with a group of friends
It's a high-end price at medium-end level. I felt ripped off at the price we paid for a suite. The rooms, bed, and bathroom were small. We were on the ground-floor which meant we were woken-up every morning and there were bugs (2 cockroaches) that we found in 2 days. The pool area is a bit cramped and the beach option is great - but it's a 12 minute walk (which is not great for kids if you've got them).
On the plus side - I thought the general service was good (Ryan the concierge was very helpful). I had a great massage from Inana and the hotel is very conveniently located to a bunch of great restaurants.
Emily is an amazing and creative bartender. Kim was so patient and kind to our large party. Meredith is a genuine star!
Sat outside by waterfall, koi pond, fire pit table, lovely service & excellent food.
Only had drinks at the bungalow, but it was a cute place. Laid back, and the staff was great.
I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the last ten years. Beautiful location, grounds, nice restaurant... then they realized they could make money playing loud music at the bungalows out front. First it was weekends, so I avoided Friday and Saturday nights, then it was Thursday. I stopped coming, but had a bunch of extra miles, so turned them in for a $500/night room to stay Thursday and Sunday. Here it is Tuesday night at 11 pm, I'm on the 7th floor, the music is loud enough to vibrate things in my room, I called down to ask how long it would play, and was told it would go until 1:30 pm. Never again. Shame when a hotel forgets what their in the business to do.
Drinks are a little pricey, but atmosphere was great
Very crowded, expensive drinks, but a very different experience in LA compared to other spots
Beautiful hotel. A giant banyan in front and bungalow vibes throughout. The room was giant, with an amazing view of the ocean. Bed was so comfortable. Staff was friendly. Highly recommend
Friendly staff, expensive restaurants, superb location, wonderful atmosphere. Nice gym. Inviting pool.
The vibe of the bungalow is very good. Lots of people from all over the world stop in to have a drink before heading out into the city s night life. If you want to meet people this is an excellent location. If you want to try a good selection of cocktails and wines this is also the place for you. The lobby lounge has little finger foods that they offer as well. I would recommend the ceviche!
The service here is superb! Such a great area as well!
The service was very good and above all the food was the best
The Bungalows is a fun place to have drinks and socialize, we had a table and the service was great.
Sweet bar. Awesome outdoors areas. Awesome games. Lots of fun. Good good times...
It was handicap accessible which was great for my group.
Terrible experience.
First night we were charged 800 for the wrong room and they did not make it right.
It s dirty...from the minute you drive your car up and walk towards lobby entrance the outdoor cushions are moldy and dirty....the fountain hasn t been cleaned, the walkways are dirty...the rooms are quite small with carpets that are stretched out and tired. I ve been to fairmounts all over the world and this was the worst! Don t waste your money.
