Buvette is a quaint little place that has beautiful, bistro decor, and fantastic food. I just had Croque Madame while I was visiting, and I can totally see how people can become addicted to this place. My god, it was one of the best I've ever had! The freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly brewed coffee were a great addition to my morning breakfast. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very mellow and calm. It was a great way to start my morning! I highly recommend any tourist/local traveling in this area to give this place a shot. It is worth it!

We have happened by chance in front of his door looking for the so famous building of "Friends" and to rest while we had a beer. We found it so cozy and pleasant that we decided to stay for lunch. If you pass by, do not hesitate to stay for lunch. The cook is gorgeous. And the camerer @ s super attentive.
Staff is hit or miss. Unfortunately, expect to be treated pretty disrespectfully until you get seated (where upon they are suddenly very polite). Suggest going around the corner to L accolade - food is a great fresh fusion and genuinely very nice. They re also actually French.
We arrived on a Sunday morning without a reservation and they managed to seat us at the counter. Lovely small dishes were delicious and more filling than they looked. Great atmosphere and attentive service.
Nice atmosphere with a handful tables on the patio. It's very cozy inside and therefore can be quite noisy, so I recommend to sit outside if possible. The food (belgian waffle and waffle sandwich) and the watermelon lemonade were delicious, although the food is a bit overpriced for its size. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Kudos to the kitchen and the team altogether for making it work in such a small space! Btw: they do not take reservations (at least for brunch)!
Full disclosure: I haven't eaten at many brunch places in NYC but I feel this place does it right. Maybe it's because I'm a Southerner, but it seems like the brunch portions in this city are smaller than what I am used to, which is actually a good thing.
As with any brunch place, you want to get here early and be prepared to wait. Our table was cozy, but not too cramped as I have plenty of room to freely move. I'm not sure how often they make their menus, but, at this time, they are cute little pop-up cards that simply state the dish and price. A few of us ordered the strawberry lemonade (non-alcoholic) and it was probably the best altered version of the drink I've ever had. It even came with a freshly sliced piece of watermelon! It was not too sweet, light, and very refreshing especially on a hot summer day.
My girlfriend and I split a crepe with Nutella which was buttery, hazelnut goodness. I'm glad we split it because it was probably too sweet to eat on my own. I ordered to waffle sandwich which was more like half the waffle was leaning on the other half. All the flavors of the bacon, eggs, cheese, and butter coalesced to create a magic food experience. Again, the portion was smaller than I'm used to but was the right amount of food. I didn't feel like it was very heavy either, which is a very good thing.
I've seen other people comment about the food being pricey, but I think they're wrong. To me, the price is right on the money (pun intended). Besides, this is New York City brunch, not Denny's. You should expect better quality in your food. Try this place out and get that watermelon lemonade if they have it! You won't be sorry.
A really terrific concept that describes itself as French but feels much more like Italian. Nonetheless, everything from the kitchen is superb and extremely fresh and it doesn't hurt that the servers are some of the friendliest in town.
Lovely place with great food and nice vibe. Unfortunately portions are very small, but otherwise would ve been top rated. Prefer it as breakfast/brunch spot rather than dinner, although vibe is good all day long
I ll start by saying that the food here is great. I came for Sunday brunch with a friend around 2pm and the place was packed. It s small so the wait was expected, they did underestimate the wait time though and we wound up waiting an More
Every single thing we ordered was amazing. Feel free to blindly close your eyes and point to order and you will still be delighted. I d post a picture of my food but couldn t stop eating long enough to take one. The 20 min wait was well worth the reward.
Fantastic, cosy place in one of my favorite New York neighborhoods. Plates are made with love and you just want to try everything. Staff is great and the place is just so cool. Went there for brunch and highly recommend it.
One of my favorite places to go in the West Village for a glass of wine and a nibble with a friend, with a date, with a co-worker it s got great food, service, and atmosphere: the trifecta!
As much as I love this place, and the food is quite good, but we had a horrible experience with the service (not our first bad experience there). Our main plates came out at very different times, and our dessert came out before our mains (even tho they asked do you want your dessert at the end? Which we said yes). When we told the waitress this was odd and unpleasant, she explained that they have 2 kitchens, and I quote this is how we do it at Buvette. Plates come out at different times. If that doesn t work for you, then maybe Buvette isn t for you . Wow. I dine out a lot in New York, and I love this city, but her attitude was a little too much. Frankly, rather than apologizing for the complete mismanagement of the food service, she found a way to completely mistreat her paying customers. No matter how good you are at your craft, a little humility never hurt, Buvette.
Only went for dessert and coffee. First of all, love the ambiance. Super cozy and fun for a daytime date. The latte goes really well with the chocolate mousse. I normally don't enjoy chocolate mousses very much because of the consistency but buvette's chocolate mousse is thicker and reminds me of a mousse brownie. Also fell in love with their tarte tatin! Must get it. Heard their brunch and wine list is also amazing. Will be trying those next time.
Cozy & adorable place with a French flare. You have to get the chocolate mousse for dessert- it is so thick, it feels like something on the border between a mousse and a rich chocolate cake. Absolutely Divine!!!
I was lucky enough to drop in to this world famous French restaurant. I didn t have to wait or deal with any bureaucracy involving reservations. I think I got very lucky in terms of timing and it was a great experience. As a solo diner this time, I was welcomed and given a cute seat right in front of the restaurant. Very picturesque! They were very busy so it felt slow, but the service was amazing!
I love this place. Although the wait was 45minutes long for a party of three, it was worth the wait. It is a small place - so tiny and some seats are very close to the table. Sitting by the bar side would be a better option in my opinion. Food was delicious, and the service was decent. I highly recommend this place (if you have some time to kill by waiting)
I absolutely love/adore/crave everything about Buvette. The atmosphere is perfect. The staff is friendly, helpful, and down to earth. The most important thing, though, is the food. To. Die. For!!
Having been to the Paris and NYC store I can confirm they are both as good as one another. Go, eat, be very merry!!!!!!!
A brilliant place for a cozy and delicious brunch. Highly recommend the place if you are in the area. The eggs, coffee and the chocolate mousse is to die for.
Great brunch, the food is incredibly good. The portions were definitely on the small side, but overall worth it if you're willing to splurge a bit. I didn't get it, but my friends said the waffle sandwich was amazing.
Nice service. French food is my absolute favorite. We were there late night and had dessert which was quite disappointing. The apple Tarte Tatin was not at all any likeness of the dessert, it was a mushy mess
Yes,yes, yes. This place was recommended by a friend of a friend and was def worth the visit. I always think, would I go there again(?) and the answer is yes! I would probably go back earlier and so that I can mix sundowners with an early bird dinner and then dinner. The food is so tasty! The size of the dishes is very good, small plates that justify a continuous stream of orders. Yum. On our trip we tasted the Ratatouille, mousse de foie, Tian provencale and cassoulet. All delicious and tasty. What was delightful is that you could taste all the ingredients, the dishes were fresh and not overly salty. Perfect place for good wine and great food. The staff was very friendly, especially the waiter that looks hazy in my picture was very galant and charming. The waiter that helped us unfortunately was rushed and didn t have a good eve but all others were amazing. I highly recommend this place. LOVED it, can t wait to go back.
Delicious food but lousy service. The waffles used to be great (first pictures), but 6 months later, they are not worth 16 dollars anymore. The Friends' building is just around the corner.
The food was amazing and fresh, but the waiteress manager named Gresia was unbelievably bad in solving the situation when 2 girls nex to our table were shouting so loud, not respecting guests around them,I had to ask them to tone down their voice, the manager approached us and said we were rude, never to this place again!!! no tips either!!!
Very disappointing! Bad value for money and very rude service! Intrusive at checkout. Waiter apparently dissatisfied with his tip (20%) treats us cavalierly and doesn't even tell us Goodbye. TO FLEE!
On a search for the best croque madame we came across Buvette and were reminded how the selection of quality ingredients contribute to an extraordinary dish. It felt like breakfast in France.
Buvette is one of my favorite breakfast places, it s where I got the highest number of views on google maps, it s where food is memorable, it s where I used my Leica camera for the first time... Buvette is New York s preferred breakfast place and mine as well. I was back for the waffle, for the scone and for the great vibes that put one in a good mood for a long day ahead.
Standing in line for 40 minutes on a nice Spring afternoon with the hustle of New York City around the corner and birds chirping everywhere makes the time slow down and speed up at the same time.
Now about their food, if you re in New York thinking about wanted to fill up your stomach with just one entree, try a diner, this is a place for fine dining and how to do a French dish right. The portions are small so order approximately, plus the added benefit is you get to try a bunch of different entrees! We ordered eggs with Prosciutto and a Croque Madame w/ ice cold coffee and Bloody Mary. They were both incredibly delicious!
