I was in Cali for the first time in June and decided to drive down from LA to Santa Monica. With no hotel confirmed, decided to gamble and see what type of hotels were by the beach. I arrived in Santa Monica after 8pm drove around ocean ave and no other hotel stood out but the Fairmont. When I finally parked I went to the reception and asked if they honor hotel tonight prices and to my surprise I was able to get the rate even without having to use the app. It made my day and when they realized it was my birthday they upgraded my room. Stayed two nights before I had to leave. Ideal location. Great staff and clean hotel. Food is excellent as well at the two restaurants. I will be back!

Stayed here twice the past year so I figured I finally post an update on my recent experience.

The rooms have always been clean. The attentive staff and fast check-in.
You can't beat the view from my Balcony. The huge Lobby with a nice vibe. Food and are always on point.

I discovered this Five Star Getaway when I missed my flight out about a year ago. :D

We came to this hotel for a wedding and decided to stay here to make things easier. Our experience was sub par for the price. Location and event spaces were nice. Rooms were dated. Pool was disappointing. The staff were hit or miss. Either great or couldn t answer a simple question. We also had a problem with the very loud Bungalow bar next door. Our room faced the bar and it kept us up until 2am.

Would be nice to have little hairgel packets available for when you forget to bring some. The TV is very slow to navigate around. The pillows are kinda flat feeling but I think that's just how real feather pillows behave. Not for me I guess. Overall I enjoyed my stay however, the rest of the hotel is top notch. But I figure it's more useful to mostly include complaints so the hotel can get better.

My first impressions was not what I expected. We arrived on a Wednesday night to a hotel lobby entrance full of guests but not enough hotel employees. I parked my own car. After grabbing my hotel keys and waiting in my room for 30 minutes for our luggage I walked back down to see my luggage still sitting in the same spot outside the lobby. Since there was still no employees to be found I grabbed my stuff and took it to my room myself. After leaving my room to go to get dinner we came back to a warm room and staticky tv because the AC and tv where not working properly. I called the front desk and the technician came up in 10 minutes. The technician has been the best part of my stay so far. He was very nice and professional and took care of both problems he gets 5 stars . I will edit or leave this review as it is depending on how the rest of my stay hear at the Fairmont goes. The location is good if you want to be walking distance from the beach and the Santa Monica Pier. They offer bicycles and a shuttle that goes 3 miles for you to move around to near by restaurants and other points of interest. The room and bathroom is small. The bed is comfortable and the pillows where on point. 5 stars for the pillows and bed. The coffee bar was nice. Mark at the coffee bar was very helpful and the coffee is good. The service at the pool was ok, asked for a side of ranch and did not see it. The food at the pool was good. I could not put my finger on why I felt like some of the service was sub par and some was ok. Then I saw what appears to be a manager scolding an employee in plain view in the lobby as I was getting ready to load my car. Mystery solved. Sub par service comes from sub par leadership

Grossly overpriced , with poor service. The rooms have old carpet and they have 3 "sizes" of king beds, which the head of housekeeping shared with me, when my king room came with a queen size bed. There are very few beach chairs/umbrellas for the guests, so all quests pay a resort fee but only 1:8 if people can actually benefit from the resort. I think they had a chance of management in the last year, bc last year was much better.

I've had the pleasure of being at the Bungalow many times. Everytime I go one of my freinds or I gotta laid by an authentic LA beauty. Drinks are not the best but that will be the last thing on your mind when you there. This place is must go.

I booked this hotel for the night, and I'm impressed because they were able to accommodate me comfortably. The front office has a very courteous and friendly staff who magnificently booked me with no delays. The rooms, facilities, amenities, etc. are very wonderful and I'm sure that I will come back here again someday. THANKS!

We came as a family of four and from the moment of check-in with yuhan, who was so helpful, we had a wonderful stay. We loved the ambience and situation, all staff were so helpful, polite and friendly. Enjoyed the delicious food in the outside patio and breakfast was scrumptious.

We made a reservation for Christmas breakfast and were taken directly to our table. Service was responsive without being overbearing. Food was decent, but overpriced for the quality (expected from a hotel restaurant like this).

Ideal location, hotel definitely needs an update in lobby and room. Somethings I would like to see being provided for guest are turn-down service and vegan gummy treats in the room as an alternative. Staff has been amazing and have been more than helpful. Valet communications needs to be better, i had to talk to three people to get the Tesla charged last night.

Very beautiful hotel, with excellent views. Staff very friendly, and accommodating. Family and pet friendly. Will definitely visit this property again. Room service food is also very good. Santa monica pier, venice beach within walking distance.

The suites are so basic and need a serious renovation it felt like being in a 3stars hotel. Glad we paid half price but still the specs are very minimal although beds are very comfy. Service is amazing from all the hotel staff. Valet is an extorsion especially when you have to tip the guys on top. On the opposite street the overnight rate is 25 vs $52 at the hotel!

Gorgeous property. Accommodations are more than adequate. Wifi was terrible, however, and we waited close to 4 hours for our room to be ready at check in. Because it's a classy joint, the staff made it worth our while!

It is a nice hotel. However they used bait and switch on me. The rooms are nothing spectacular. I booked a bungaloo with a swimming pool view and got one that had a back alley view. They then switched me to a king suite in their towers that was less expensive and did nothing to compensate me for it. And my 30 year old son had to sleep on a couch for the second bed.
The rooms, like I said, are not spectacular. The bathroom is standard and somewhat dated. Basic john and bathtub with shower head. Nothing special. The bedroom was standard with a king bed, and the suite had a small work desk, a tv, couch, and couple of chairs. All this for over $900 per night. I stayed at a Red Lion in Portland just two nights ago that was about the same for $179 per night. It looks like comp rooms like this around the area are less than $400 to $500 per night. The rooms are clean and above a hotel 6 standard, however I do not think they compare with something like Shutters on the Beach or other luxury hotels.
The grounds are nice for sitting around and chatting, with lounge chairs, a moderate size swimming pool, and a small hot tub. There are also some seating around fire pits around the pool area, near the bungaloos, if you get what you pay for.
Some rooms have internet provided, while others must pay for it.
I must say the front desk at other hotels seem to be more competent and able to get things done. It seems those here just go through the motions and pass off problems to their unseen and unknown staff they must talk to.

I feel that I did not get what I paid for and it was overly priced.

Great spot. Lots of beautiful people that want nothing to do with you. Santa Monica at it's best. Will go back for years to come. Ping-pong table is a must. Avoid if packed/like outside because there won't be any room inside. Trust me.

Location, location, location! My balcony had a direct view of the Pacific, with the sun setting right outside my doorway. The rooms were very clean, well-appointed and large enough to relax. The fridge and bar were fully stocked and ready for action. The pool area also served as an outdoor seating area to enjoy drinks on the patio. The staff was perfect from the baggage handlers to the room service. Everything was perfect! If there was one thing to change, it would be the prices. I understand this is Santa Monica, but $8.00 for a coke is just a bit ridiculous. If you want a hotel within a few hundred feet of the ocean and the warm sand, and just 10 minutes from the famous Santa Monica pier, then this is your place.

Incredible facility; pool and hot tub are gorgeous and relaxing environment.... You do NOT feel like you are in bustling LA but instead in a peaceful resort. Also, right across from beach and promenade if you do want to ever leave the pool.
