Indian River County Sheriff's Office Review

I have never been in there, but with all of the negative comments, I'm going to give them a 5 star rating. Jail is supposed to be a bad experience! You commit a crime, you don't deserve "better,"!

By far Worst Jail System In Indian RiVer County ...Cops Drive around And pull over people on site .."Profiling" Court system Corrupted ..They Never Go By the law Real Law...All there investigation Are ran By Punk's who allow people to do drugs as long as they can get a conviction..IRC Need Real Cops ...that protect and serve not that hassle and harrash everyone..No sheriff Has ever gone out there way Stepped in the black community and has tried to make a difference ...A real difference not just trying to lock up young blacks for drugs etc etc ...but a change for equal opportunity for everyone..no police should pull or stop someone because of there color ... IRC Is The Worst Place To Live ...There Jail Sucks And need to be investigated by The Florida Bar....

Most of the officers need more training, rookies and even sergeants get pushed into REACTING rather than (responding) to a situation.

It's NOTHING like the brochure says! No pool, food sucks, no pillow tops! I wouldn't recommend going! Oh & remember all ur phone numbers!

I went to this jail after being imprisoned for a marijuana pipe. Because I lost my job when I got arrested, I couldn't pay for the probation guy (I had never been in jail before, so I thought probation was a better option than pleading not guilty and having a jury trial for a marijuana pipe..this was a HUGE mistake). Anyway while I was there I learned so many things!! Let's see...I learned art (finger-painting, specifically on cinder block).

The food at the jail was actually OK, with a bologna sandwich. Small town, so I knew some of the folks in there. Beds were standard jail beds,. Overall it was just boring. Couldn't change the TV channel. Because of the finger painting I I developed an eating habit: little debbie's. i would eat boxes and boxes and boxes of them. Swiss cake rolls, honey buns, cosmic brownies, you name it.

I eventually found myself 300 pounds heavier, and with a gambling problem to boot. I didn't leave my room much, and I felt generally ill. That's when I found the solution to all of my, and the world's, problems: Scientology.

The jail staff were friendly, and, considering the situation, as good as you can expect out of a situation where one is being imprisoned for a pot pipe on a first charge. Just cool cats doing their jobs, and they are professional and courteous.

So as I got deeper into Scientology,

Deputy Brad Stevens is the best and should be the next under sheriff. His knowledge is second to none and he handles himself as a true pro.Indian River County needs more like him and I salute his fine work.

I WAS IN THAT JAIL SEVERAL TIMES 18 TO 25 YEARS AGO!! THAT PLACE WAS A VERY DECENT JAIL TO BE IN. THE OFFICERS WERE ALL GREAT, UNDERSTANDING, AND WOULD WAYS LISTEN TO THE NEEDS OF THE INMATES!! I THANK YOU!!!

January 2nd, 2019. Officers Nick Hatton, Richard Henson , Quang Le and supervisor Quintero stopped me with guns drawn, forced me out of the car and searched car without my consent. Held me for an hour threatening me with jail and violence all for allegedly speeding. They retaliated against me when I asked for their badge numbers. Never ticketed me for speeding. Another five cops just sat there watching the stop, not helping. An internal affairs investigation turned up nothing. Big surprise.

Please let s do our best to report and get rid of these dirty cops plaguing Vero Beach.

Every1 who thinks IRC Jail sucks.then PLEASE rethink , go to Palm bch Jail and you'll consider this jail a dang Hotel... 450 inmates is NOTHING, and 10 to 20 inmates a day compared to the 200 they process at Palm bch is also another plus, U will b bonded out of IRC before u even get processed in PBCJail... And if u think the food sucks , then once again, go stay at PBC County jail..... I guarantee, after a short stay at the PBC jail and XSPECIALLLLLY IF U GET PUT ON THE WEST OR EAST SIDE "THE DUNGEONS" THENU WILL B CRYINGGGG TO GOD THAT U WERE IN IRC County jail!

Don't like it at this jail to visit my husband on a video instead of in person is beyond words do not like it

They don't seem to respond to Crime stoppers when you have a tip. Neighbors still drug dealing .

I'll give them 3 stars because they do a good job as well as hassle people. It's a mixed bag.

They don t answer their phones and their website is a nightmare. Also, the justice system is vile in this country

I was informed that if are undocumented your are treated like an animal. I was told a special close person to me was changed and barely any recognizable food was given to this person. That person did not have legal documents that person was not a terrorist. Really treat people like humans not like monsters.

Guards have nothing better to do then act like they're cops. Takes 1 week to get a writing utensil. Be prepared to be treated like your in 1st grade again. Better then most counties at least they separate the real trash from the pot heads and drunks.

Lisa you keep laughing at the comments but you can end up there to. Very easily .

5 star bed and breakfast. The employees are so kind.

I had to give the one star rating because of the deputies' attitudes each time I've tried to do a wellness check on my son. I haven't had a pleasant experience, not once. Each time was worse than the previous time as well. Very unprofessional, very argumentative, and unpleasant to speak with. They love to give legal advice instead of doing what we pay them for, In a time when I am concerned with my son's well being, as he has went to 3 schools in kindergarten alone, they are completely oblivious to human decency. My case is a federal rights case, and Judge Cynthia Cox ruled that I could check on my son, by whatever means that I so choose. These officers go into an investigation blindly and completely ignorant to the individual situation. I don't enjoy being harassed by the servants that I asked to uphold judges orders.

Place sucks dirty all the time staff is mean and nasty to imates health Dept needs called daily

I'm giving them two stars since they give you an alleged mattress-pillow like object, a too small mattress cover, and a worn out scratchy blanket. They have over the air tv unlike Brevard which just offers nature scenes interspersed with video of the sheriff. The food sucks, but if you like grits you'll get your fill. Otherwise expect plenty of flatulence educing soy stuff and the delicious "kool aid water," at lunch.

KOOL AID WATER SERVES 100 PREP TIME 1 MIN

5-gal water
1/2 gallon ice
2 packets generic kool aid mix
NO SUGAR

Overall I give them two stars since penal institutions in Africa, Laos, Vietnam, Jamaica, Haiti, etc. have worked to snare the coveted one-star ranking,

Clean facility . I really liked the food . Staff was respectful . I had a great stay !!
