Very poor quality junk drive shafts !! If you want your cars drive shafts to fail buy them from this company - poor design - not oem - if you use this company you will have to source a alternative quality product and of course fit the part twice incurring double the labour charge.

Made me laugh reviewing this company as goggle ask you what you like answer is nothing. Incorrect part supplied after all details given reg size or orginal part number didn't bother using any of it and sent wrong part. Rang to sort agree with other reviews rude arrogant lady on phone. There offer was to post another which would take 3 days and no apology. Or I can pay to return the other one at my cost and they might refund me. I wouldn't risk using ever again if only company on planet with one. DON'T USE NO MATTER WHAT. Awful company rude in polite incorrect parts so completely useless frauds is best wording for them. I will post this review to as many sites as possible as completely true. I work in motor trade and sad company's with staff and values like this exist. I really do hope this review costs them business.
Rang up twice and checked and confirmed parts advertised were for my car. Bought them and took to mechanic when we both were available. Dismantled car found that cv joints were incorrect. Called and asked to swap but as this was over 30 days this wasn't possible. Refused phone calls, email only. THERE CATALOGUE IS WRONG, THEY STILL HAVENT CORRECTED IT EVEN THOUGH INFORMED IT WAS WRONG. REFUSE TO ADMIT THEIR MISTAKES. A TRULY APPALLING COMPANY. AVOID AT ALL COSTS (as that is all you'll incur!!)
Unfortunately I have to give one star if I have a choice I will give no one , AVOID this place , very bad quality partes and no costumer service at all , if you need a replacement or refund the only thing that you will listen is the sound of silence, they will take your money for nothing.
Appallingly low quality parts, bought 2 cv joints from J and R which stripped the drive shaft splines in a day, then replaced with drive shafts from J and R which vibrated extremely badly and creaked. had to replace both drive shafts with a different brand. This process cost a lot in labour and my time and and was a massive pain. Impossible to speak to manager about this issue apparently. I Highly recommend avoiding this company
Excellent company bought of them a few times now the lady on the phone was called Stacey I ve spoke to her a few times and she was very helpful and polite and could not fault her in the way she dealt with me. I ordered 1 set of driveshafts on the website incorrectly and she explained I ordered the wrong ones for my vehicle and she helped me understand what I did wrong and helped me order the correct parts I also spoke to another lady called Sharon who was very polite and helpful My overall experience with this company was brilliant and will always use them for driveshafts and cv joints
Purchased multiple shafts from this company over the past 2 years and every time they have struggled to last any longer than a 3 months.
Finally thought i would speak with them regarding there warranty to be practically Ignored and resent a copied and pasted message repeatedly, acting outside of Consumer rights act despite admitting that there is a fault with the product.
The item was designed so poorly that the shaft would fall fall out of the gearbox causing multiple recovery's adding upto more than the cost of the items in the first place and possible damage to the internals of my gearbox.
checked the item against a genuine manufacturer item and has measured up 10mm shorter hence the issues with the items becoming disconnected.
Ordered a pair of driveshafts for my Passat with DSG gearbox. After fitting I had a horrendous vibration and the car struggled to change gear. Initially J&R blamed it on my mechanic hanging the drive shaft and damaging the CV joint but changed it anyway. Lo and behold the replacement did exactly the same. Upon inspection we noticed the J&R drive shaft is a solid bar whereas the VW one was tubular. Turns out the tubular OEM one is built like that to absorb resonance, the solid drive shafts accentuates the resonance making the vehicle undriveable. Bottom line if you have a car from the VW family (Seat, Audi, Skoda) avoid the driveshafts as you'll end up in a world of hurt. They did refund my money though.
Incompetent staff, not willing to help, arrogant and with attitude, kept saying there's nothing they can do for me
I received the wrong part ordered and they expect me to return it using my own money !
Its your fault, dont give me the BS with Terms and Conditions state you don't cover return fees, well its your fault you dont expect to send random items to people and for them to cover return fees for your incompetence, lack of professionalism
As explained to me by a Legal rep, these Terms and Conditions are loose and won't hold water in a small claims track!
See you guys in court, and for the rest of the people considering these guys, please be aware of this issue I have had, reading other reviews, many other have had the exact same issue recently
Disgusted, GOOGLE needs to take them down at least
AVOID. Sent wrong parts despite VRN VIN. Upsold wrong parts & hopelessly poor quality parts 2mm think rather than OEM 5mm boot. Cheaper to buy a whole driveshaft or dismantle via circlips. Cones & penumatic tools require shoddy stretch boots that last 13mths.
I'm so sorry I ordered form them! I've bee sent wron drive shaft - longer and thinner. I asked to return it at their expense and they refused. They say the size is different because they use stronger steel. Then must close down that business.
Great prices loads of stock only downside not a walk up amd buy quickly place been a few times and had to wait around a while to get seen by anyone ..cant fauly the stock at all never had a problem
Excellent experience. Lovely lady on the phone, polite chap at the counter. Excellent value. I would recommend paying a little extra and getting a brand new drive shaft/cv joint than getting a second hand one from the scrap yard. Thank you J and R.
Absolutely disgusting company to deal with.Sent out wrong part after taking registration of my car then tried blaming me for ordering the wrong part and refused to take any responsibility for the error and will only refund if i pay to return the item ?? The call handler by the name of stacey had a stinking attitude over the phone and seemed to take pleasure in being completely unhelpful .Im pursuing this company through trading standards and consumer rights as I've spoken to a few people that have ripped off by this Micky mouse company .Avoid at all costs.
Driveshaft had done 50miles before this hole appeared! I was surprised to see the shaft and the CV itself all rusty. The CV appears unfinished and wouldn't come of the driveshaft?! The boot is very poor quality and very thin rubber. The OEM one is much thicker and like plastic. Fix your old shafts it may be easier and quicker in the long run :(
JR said take the boot off they will replace it, but the driver needs to take away the old one at the same time! We bought complete shafts so we didnt need to mess about <- Unacceptable. I would prefer to pay more and do the job once.
Do not use their driveshafts. As per other reviews, they are dangerously defective. After about 25 miles of use mine came out of the inner joint and shot the ball bearings out of the casing, causing the vehicle to fail completely. This could have caused a serious crash had it happened at a high speed.
At the moment they will only offer to inspect the shaft by sending it back at my own cost, and then repair or replace it. As you can see from the picture, there is completely irreparable and I certainly won't be putting a replacement anywhere near any vehicle.
Ok so I ordered the drive shaf for my taxi on the site sent back for refund over 2 week ago and rang up j n r and woman on the phone kept telling me she can t give me my money back because I have no brain in my tree never use these people they take your money and don t do no refund calling police to get my money back
Can't believe all the bad reviews, I've been using JR literally for years and on the odd occasion I do have a problem they have always been very good and very quick at replacing - I can imagine the cost of redelivering wrong parts etc most likely outweighs the cost of the part its self, likely working at a loss to satisfy the customer - I'll continue to use JR for as long as they sell driveshafts and CV's. :)
I have ordered over seven shafts from these people over the last couple of years, apart from the shaft before last which I think might have been a computer glitch, have had very good service. Even the problem one they sorted out quickly.
Do not use, driveshaft ordered and fitted, failed after 1 month. It appears driveshaft is shorter than original, no balancer weight, circlip not strong enough, e mailed them to be told it was the right part and shouldn't have been fitted and mechanic was to blame!!!. Why sell inferior parts not up to spec, this is downright dangerous and should be stopped
First set caused vibrations. Replacement set lasted 500 miles then caused vibrations. Customer service was rude and said they would not accept the faulty shafts back due to it being over 3 months. Ended up getting second hand shafts and throwing these in the bin!
This company is ignorant very quick at taking money but will not refund back. Not the way to do business and the guy on the phone must own it as people are not treated with so little respect. Your business will go under in no time. Avoid avoid avoid.
ordered the only inner CV boot kit listed for my car and it did not fit, the metal flange which was part of the boot was the incorrect diameter and the holes didn't line up with the mounting bolts for the driveshaft/gearbox.
I needed one that day so went and bought one locally.
Contacted customer services who said I needed a different boot kit which is not even listed against my car on their website and said if I returned the item they would refund me.
I told them they needed to pay return postage and refund the original postage cost as per distance selling regulations for an incorrectly supplied item.
They basically refused and pointed to their terms and conditions.
Absolute joke of a company if it doesn't even understand the most basic rules when it comes to online sales.
They miss sold the parts they should be paying all costs, it's not complicated.
Very helpful staff i spoke to 2 woman and they are the best customer service i have ever dealt with, Best in the country would recommend to any one, ordered from this company more then once and the service is the best, I have also come down to the company to collect and the staff on the door was very helpful
parts supplied are of poor quality and incorrect and thats before you get ot their terrible customer service attitude. Dont expect any form of refund either as this is against company policy apparently. Spend your money with decent OEM supplied products if you value your time and dont want big labour bills for having to the do the job twice or more - it will pay off in the long run.
I ordered the wrong part, but not only are these guys great value for money the service I received was juts brilliant I just wanted to say a massive thanks for the service you and your colleague provided. I was under pressure and stressed and the calm voice at the end of the phone changed my brain set and for that I commend you all, a very important interaction to have. I have worked in retail as well and its not always easy to be that person, especially nowadays when pressures and expectations are so demanding. I hope that work treats you well and realises the value in being human and looking after their staff because what I received the other day was how things should be. It could have easily of been a different story and for that I am extremely grateful, impressed and cant thank you enough for the efficiency and organised polite manner in which I received. Sorry this is so long, but I believe recognition should be shown, and this is rare is business nowadays. So we'll done to you all. The other side may need doing to so I will definatley order from you and try and make sure I chose the right part next time. Kind regards Estelle
Well, where do I start?.... to begin with the first shaft I ve brought from these guys had only lasted 6 months!! And then when I tried to get the warranty sorted the guy that my partner spoke to was rude arrogant and genuinely just had a poor telephone manor! I had left this review on there Facebook page but within a day it had been removed! I had messaged them but was ignored, they read it but decided to not reply!!! Lovely company! One I ll never go near again!!!!!! Watch out people this company is a JOKE!!!!!, order off shaft-tek it s his brother but better service and quality
T5 transporter 2.5 manual BNZ Ordered a pair last year after being told yes these will fit your vehicle Went to fit n/s and 20mm too long. Sent it back for refund. Kept the o/s shaft and recently had the garage fit it. That was the wrong length too and left stranded because the old shaft was damaged when removing. Luckily found a new one locally but much dearer. Their data base clearly ain t right thus sending wrong parts but claiming they are correct. Hassle you can do without!
Worst customer experience ever!!! Member of staff spoke to me like they did not care. They said they close at 5 I go there for 16:55 and they said they're closed!! Waste of a journey and members were really rude. Never again
Bought drive shafts online from the website but sent me the wrong part. Rang in to speak to them but all they did was fobbed me off and was told it was my fault. They wanted me to cover the cost for returning the item. A bit of advice to anyone thinking of buying from them stay away at all costs!!!! Customer service is no existence and are very abrupt and rude. Wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy!
FAULTY PRODUCT, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I purchased a set of driveshafts from this company, J & R CV Joints for my Peugeot, had them fitted by a qualified mechanic ( who incidentally has looked after a fleet of vehicles for me since 2010 without any problems) but a problem occurred with the NS driveshaft (eating through wheel bearings because there was no play in the shaft). I contacted J&R and asked if they could send a replacement and collect the other for inspection. "No! 'our terms are we collect and inspect it and then return it" so, they wanted me to have my car off the road for over a week. I asked to purchase a new one, then they could refund the original if faulty. "No!, our terms are clear Customer" (Never once did they call me by my name or show any form of courtesy). So I bought a new shaft from Europarts and the problem was solved. Having incurred additional mechanic labour costs, I sent J & R the bill for the damage due to their faulty shaft and asked them to reasonably meet me halfway on the costs. They instead blamed my mechanic! Apparently you should inspect the parts first (according to J & R) - because of course any customer buying a part shouldn't automatically assume it is fit for purpose? Absurd!
After exhausting all usual 'common sense' avenues, I asked a solicitor to make contact with them. The response - "are you a real solicitor!" In the end, you can't reason with ignorance (or megalomaniacs) so left them with their squeaky clean conscience!
Now remember, the directors of this company, particularly LEE JONES like to shout about they are a 'multi million pound company'! This apparently allows you to have zero customer service and no ethics. Poor product, even worse customer service and will never have dealings with them again. I recommend anyone who is thinking of buying parts steers clear of them and goes to a far more reputable company who will no doubt exercise some level of customer respect and integrity, unlike J & R CV Joints.
Have used J&R a number of times. I have previously sent a warranty item back as instructed & I gave up calling them for a refund. On my last purchase the amount I was invoiced was less than the amount taken from my card. Arrogant staff won't put you through to accounts or get them to call back (& don't give me covid as an excuse J&R 'cos that's a crock). They've lost my custom. Buyer beware. You know what they say about paying peanuts.
initially good helpful staff (when buying) fitted shafts and low and behold a vibration. after looking at other reviews decided to return shafts and fit better quality ones and vibration gone . was told refunds not available, not happy to fit another poor quality item tho
Defective item sent out with absolutely no regard to rectifying the issue. Appaling manufacturing of item and even worse customer service. Avoid at all costs. Will be highlighting this dyer company further within the car & van community throughout the UK.
Would give this company a strong 5/5 but had some issues... ordered a drive shaft for my seat on the website, came next day (brilliant) however the shaft was too long so I called up the sales team and spoke to a woman named ( Stacey ) and I blooming couldn t understand this woman for love or money!!!!. She sounded like she has shoved 20 Maltesers up her nostrils!:,O:,) I even asked if she could speak correctly!! Thankfully with a little bit of snooping I managed to find a contact form on the website and received a reply fairly quickly and my shaft just needed compressing which was explained clearly! (Happy) Overall had a wonderful experience with j and r my only advice to you all... when calling ask NOT to speak to Stacey
Also I can see she s actually left the company a review on here... wow what a woman she is 5***** definitely not!! (Chuckle)
Went to see a car and travelled a hour to do so.....car looked nothing like the photo, to say the least. This is NOT a car showroom...its a portacabin on some waste land. The staff are more interested in Pizza eating than customers. NONE of the car are washed and most are filthy and supposed to be on sale? When I asked if the car was prepped for sale and pointed out MANY numerous issues, they asked if I would leave a deposit and then they would fix them? How about preparing the car so its ready for sale when a customer come to see it? Avoid unless your really desperate, dread to imagine what the after sales service would be.
diabolical, wish i'd read the reviews on here before i'd purchased, wrong items sent, product codes don't even match on the box against the sales invoice, called them, their staff apparently aren't technical and only office staff, submitted through their website an enquiry, no answer, after 3 attempts get finally a vague answer and they dont do the drive shafts i've ordered even though they advertise on their own website they do, communication is non existent to poor, i'll be taking the wrong parts back myself and getting a refund, do not use at all costs, it's not worth your time
Total disgrace of a company!!!, driveshaft vibrating through car and the mechanic has been emailing asking for a replacement or answers to this issue!. None of which has been replied to. Would never use this firm again and wouldn t advise anyone else to either. New parts shouldn t be doing this with only 100 miles of use!.
Done 1000 miles on a set of driveshafts that I brought from J and R and 3 out of 4 cv boots have split. Have rang multiple times to try and claim on the warranty but they are useless and don t want to know! Will not be buying from these again, buy cheap you buy twice!!
Ordered 1 Driveshaft sent me 4 and charged me for 4, rang them to say that they had sent me 4 became very abrupt and argumentative. End of the matter was they will not collect the wrong amount or refund my money. Beware !!!!
Brought a driveshaft before lockdown happened. its been stuck at work and i havent been able to access it to send it back as i never used it and they wont accept returns as its been too long. even though weve been on lockdown. rude company and rude people. wont be using again
Avoid at all costs. The CV Joint Kit for my car was missing parts and even when i tried to remove the new J&R joint to replace with the missing parts (sourced elsewhere) the joint wouldn't come back off. Ended up having to buy a used, genuine driveshaft as the J&R Joint had made my original unusable. Their customer service is non-existent and they don't want to know.
Had Shaft fitted today mechanic said the shaft was good quality, easy to fit , and at a great price! now I have no vibration thanks J&R I feel the negative peole are putting chips and performance boosting items on their ST Fords and the shaft wont be able to cope. My car is standard and it drives sweet thanks J&R
Same as the others Shafts vibrated from day one and after 4 months maybe 3K miles they are about to fall apart and car is un driveable. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS COMPANY. Better off with a used part if your on a budget.
Originally I ordered 2 new driveshafts and they only sent me out the 1. 4 days later and after a few phone calls the 2nd driveshaft arrived.
Had the driveshafts fitted only to be greeted by knocking and banging that sounded like my gearbox was going to fall out.
Went back into the garage who diagnosed it as the driveshafts, I had them fit new cv boots to my original driveshafts that had covered 125k and had them re fitted. All sorted no banging or clunking.
I then called J&R explaining that I wasn't happy with their parts and that I wanted a refund, only to be told because it's been over 14days since original purchase date, all they can do is replace them.
So my option was to send my driveshafts back to them at my own cost which wouldn't be refunded and they would send me out another two driveshafts that are no doubt not fit for purpose.
Warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on, part quality is crap and their customer service is dreadful. Everyone I spoke to was rude and ignorant, and I was informed the issues I had must of been my mechanics fault as he must of fitted the shaft incorrectly.
Decided to make an account just to comment on this abysmal company.
I went for the uprated shafts for my Focus ST as I was told they couldn't be made any stronger. I assumed these would be up to the task.
How wrong I was, less than a month after fitment, I've got clicking and knocking from both shafts. J&R now want me to spend even more money on removing them, and then shelling out AGAIN to fit the new parts.
I should have listened to the bad reviews and purchased elsewhere. All the people saying they make quality parts couldn't tell decent quality if it hit them in the face.
Orderd both sides for my car.arrived fast next day.looks good quality but very heavy and as soon as i got them fitted there was a lots of vibration.was offered a replacement but before i could remove them my n/s/f fell apart and bits from the end fell into my gear box and caused me to break down from loss of drive.gear box was checked and confirmed the shaft failed, gear box was now scrap from them damage.ended up scraping my car as no point spending any more money on it. Lesson here is "buy cheap buy twice" Deffo worth paying more for better quality.
I ordered a c.v joint for my Mazda over the phone talked to a lady called Stacey found her very helpful and polite and will defininatly be using this company again
Top guys messaged about both f/o/s and f/n/s drive shafts, within 8 minutes of messaging i had a response and the parts was ordered. Items arrived today before 11am. Thanks Amy for all the help, would recommend.
Buyer beware after 12 days of them signing for a returned item and money has not gone into my bank. Asked to speak to a Director and got fobbed off. Service and staff attitude horrendous! Would not have any further dealings with this company. Amazing there is plenty of similar feedback ....when will the owners sort it out?
Always good value, onus is on you to select the right items. Several people saying wrong parts, its often a complicated business selecting the right item, it's up to the customer to get it right, not blame the supplier when you dont order the right ones.
NEVER USE THEM. Pretty much the same as everyone else, 2 new shafts ordered for my car, prompt delivery but as soon as they are fitted got a HORRIBLE VIBRATION.
As with everyone else i got palmed off and palmed off with promises that the shafts were not at fault, finally the shafts were proven to be at fault but no apologies and nothing in terms of compensation for having faulty goods fitted and then old items refitted!
Then was told id have to pay for return postage!
Finally i am at a point with the manager there who has promised full refund of original purchase price and return postage. Which i will use to take legal action if required.
Used this company dozens of times, only ever had one issue which was dealt with in a professional manner with a satisfactory outcome, i can recommend them 100% I have been in the motor trade all my life and any one who is in the trade will be fully aware that parts are sometimes incorrect for lots of reasons, Shame on the ones who leave negative feedback you all must be so perfect
Called the helpline, palmed off to the website to order. Received items quickly. Had driveshafts fitted, car now has an horrendous vibration. Called the helpline, palmed off to website....again! Was told I would get a response the same working day as submitting my query. No response. Customer service is poor, product is poor. Just checked the warranty and the don't cover labour cost of someone removing their poor product..... now I'm poor!! Once this is resolved I will not use again. Seems I'm not the only one who's had this issue!!
Rubbish customer service, Women on the phone wasnt helpfull at all and really awkward to talk to. Orderd a drive shaft with the reg check online . Came really fast great,10/10 for delivery . But it Wasn't the correct fitment. Later on that week I rang back I was told they dont have the correct one in stock for my vehicle. When trying to return for a refund, I was told I would receive a email with details on what I should do next.. Guess what I never received any emails ...Really disappointed with the overall performance of this company I wont ever shop with them again.
Sadly couldn't give zero stars. I agree with the majority of Google reviews here. Bought 2 driveshafts, both listed as fitting our 1.8T seat Leon. First one appeared to fit ok, second one way too long and couldn't fit. They did issue a refund and assured us the first one was still correct. The car isn't driven often but 4 months later the first one has ripped out of the gear box, bent bolts and the inner boot clips failed, possibly causing damage to the gearbox casing which is yet to be inspected. I just rang j and r trading and spoke to Stacy (and yes she is very difficult to understand and doesn't seem to have a clue what she's talking about). She says the first driveshaft is still the correct part and therefore I can have a repair or replacement after I foot the bill for returning the faulty/incorrect item. I argued that it is very likely the incorrect part and I don't want to put the incorrect item back on my car, she was insistent it is still correct and I can only have a replacement. Waste of time speaking to them. You might be one of the lucky few that receive the correct quality items from this company, but seems the majority like me have been ripped off.
Update.. measured the old driveshaft against j and r driveshaft and they are not the same size proving the item is incorrect as suspected. If you paid through PayPal and it's within 180 days contact them to make a claim and they can help, I just got a full refund for my incorrect item from PayPal
Update after owner response. I was not asked by Stacy if the car was lowered and I didn't say it was standard. The car is slightly lowered but that still doesn't alter the fact that both of the driveshafts you supplied were different lengths to the original units removed from the car. You say your driveshaft failed because the car is lowered but the originals removed from the car with the lowered suspension had not failed and were only being replaced because the boots had split and for the price of your driveshafts we thought might as well get a whole unit. We purchased in January but didn't get round to fitting until april (the refund for first item you admitted was incorrect was April) the car is not a daily driver as my husband cycles to work so your driveshaft hadn't done many miles. The fact both the driveshafts you supplied were incorrect lengths, 1 too long and 1 too short is why it failed. If it was to do with the car being lowered surely a shorter shaft would be better, but it's your shorter shaft that failed whereas the longer original shaft had been on the car for sometime and still doing its job when removed. Wish we'd of just bought the boot kits now!
Never again will I use this company, orded drive shaft turns up wrong drive shaft for my Merc ,been on the phone for over 30 mins and still no answer , been off the road 5 days now not bad when I'm a courier wonder if they would like to pay my lost earnings
Rubbish service ask for a driveshaft n/s for a ford galaxy they told me they need gearbox code as they are 2 different types gave code and was to led by the very rude receptionist they don t do a drive shaft for my car I asked if I can purchase both driveshafts and return the one that doesn t first was told I cannot than they told me 25% handling fee will be charged very disappointed with the service they are on eBay also put my reg and stated one of the drive shafts fit stay away
I have ordered a drive shaft part no. DS606 and they have sent me the wrong item part no. DS671. I called them to make them aware of this and they advised to ship the item back for a full refund at my expense.
Extremely poor customer service, repeating to me they can't help and to just pay to return fee if I want my money back.
I am now seeking a legal money claims and also disputing this transaction with my bank.
Such a simple case of wrong item sent to me, they won't take responsibility for it .
A very poor company which has motivated me to spread this word everywhere I can especially on UK car part forums.
Don't treat your customers like this, some of them have resources and time to fight their case.
AVOID!
Update- Just look at how many reviews (recent ones) outline the same issue!
In the end the sc*mbags managed to pay for the return label. A whole day they denied it and referred to their TOS but in the end with pressures they ended up doing it ( so it was possible after all) Thieves!!
Given their TOS and how they speak to you ( misinform) you have legal grounds to sue. I am for one going to take these guys to court !
What a bunch of cowboys. The first driveshaft failed within 100 miles - they sent a replacement. The second driveshaft failed after about 3000 miles. I'm out by a couple of hundred pounds for garage work, and to add insult to injury they won't even refund the cost of their defective driveshafts.
Ordered drive shaft for my van, fitted by a professional mechanic with 40 years experience, shaft failed after half an hour & SIX miles!!!! Van had to be recovered & new shaft from another company was fitted to get van mobile again, J&R More
Driveshaft supplied for Renault Master 2011 snapped in half after less than 24 hours. J&R refused to refund. Dreadful customer service. This wasn't an isolated incident either.
