Hyatt Regency Newport Beach Review

Walls are thin and the self parking is too far from the lobby, but the grounds are nice, the food is good, and the staff is lovely.

Great staff, accommodations, around the corner from Balboa Island

The hotel offered a lot of things to do and was perfect for lounging around and relaxing. Although, the hotel costs quite a lot and parking was 27 dollars a night which seemed more to much.

Great resort but we faced few hidden parking and random fees

The hotel campus is beautiful and the room was comfortable. There were some minor maintenance issues. The toilet ran intermittently, and the light in the bathroom was full of dead bugs. The bugs were removed with one request. The toilet never got fixed, despite two requests. The hotel is located close enough to SNA to be easy to get to by ride share, but as a result, the plane noise can be noticeable.

I was impressed with their pools and the resort. I booked 3 rooms with two queen beds for each room (we had 12 people in our party). I ended up with 3 rooms with one king bed each. Where in the heck are the other 6 people in my party supposed to sleep? I booked with them in February and stayed there in August. Horrible service. We ended up sleeping on the floor. I will not be staying here.

Great place to stay and great music venue. Really enjoyed Sunday brunch and Boney James. The day ended early enough. Hyatt, you should do more events like that.

Service is very good and there are so many things to do in the premise

Very friendly and helpful staff. Relaxed and refined environment. The rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds and pillows. The fact that it is in the vicinity of the airport can be a bit annoying for the noise especially for the rooms that are on the airport side.

The hotel amenities are beautiful, but they need to improve their rooms.

Love the Hyantt brand and this is a cool property for sure! Not the newest Hyatt for sure but staff was nice and rooms were clean. Location not bad just a few blocks from the beach but the backbay and fashion island ate close by and lots of great restaurants. Room service etc ell very good 4.5 for sure

Rented a pool Cabana for the day. The pool is saltwater so it doesn't give the irritation of chlorine, there's a large jacuzzi, a waterslide, other games like ping pong, movie night on Saturday night and the wait staff is friendly and fast. We really enjoyed our day and I'd definitely consider doing that again!

I visited Hyatt Newport Beach to meet friends who were staying at the hotel overnight. The entry and grounds seemed nice and elegant as I drove in, and it had the feel of an upscale and vacation type of resort. While inside the grounds of the property, I could easily forget I was in California and may have been easily persuaded that I was at a Hawaiian resort. There appeared to be alot of activities for kids including a giant chess board,and the pool itself had a waterside. I met my friends at the pool and there were quite a few families who all seemed to be enjoying themselves. There was a cook station set up near the pool with burgers, hot dogs, and beer; however since I arrived later in the afternoon it was shutting down and the pool food and bar service had also closed. I hiked back up 2 small sets of stairs back to the lobby bar and ordered my friend a virgin lava flow. It was nothing spectacular, just an ordinary pool drink. Upon closer inspection of the grounds, the appearance of the buildings and rooms did appear a bit dated. I did not stay overnight so I cannot speak to the interiors, but the glam and resort type of feel was lost a bit after I noticed the age of the property. A BIG 0lus was that valet was only $6 for an hour with validation from the lobby bar. In all, a so so property... but it looked great for families with younger children.

I loved the beautiful atmosphere and the heated outside seating area to just relax at night before bed.

Just returned from break at this hotel as part of a trip thru California. Big hotel with great facilities and friendly polite helpful staff. Virgin Holidays booked us in with a complimentary breakfast - otherwise the buffet was $24 which seemed a bit pricey. We were allocated a poolside room which was clean and well situated. The hotel has recently been returned and odd things had been overlooked such as somewhere to hang your towels if you wanted to reuse them per the hotel's policy! We did notice that some of the poolside rooms were situated near the pool pump rooms etc. (smelly) and the ice vending machine (noisy as ice was in demand!) Courtesy bus to Fashion Island and Balboa was useful - a good base for a luxury stay in this area.

Amazing stay, would definitely come again. I was in Newport Beach on a business trip and was very pleased to get to stay here. When I checked in, I mentioned it would be my birthday while I was there so they upgraded me to a gorgeous top floor room with a view of the golf course.

The staff were courteous and responded promptly when I needed more coffee creamer and even brought me makeup wipes and razors!

This , by definition, a motel pure and simple. Compiled with shady practices from the people in the front means I will never stop talking about how terrible our experience has been. I'm never staying in any of their "hotels" again.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Great location and they have bikes you can borrow to ride around Newport Beach.

I went for a pool event and also rented a cabana, the service was great and so was the food.

This is probably one of the worst hotels I ve ever stayed at. The first room they gave me was completely filthy - unmade bed and empty bottles everywhere (not sure how room service classified it as clean ). The second room they gave me had bugs filling the bath tub. The third room was fine - until the power went out.

And despite all this they don t pick up the phone when you call front desk, housekeeping, room service or what have you. It s truly awful - avoid at all costs !!

Nice getaway in Southern Cal and a perfect place to launch your boat. Convenient and accessible from the resort.

One of my favorite places just too damn crowded sometimes but you got to walk in drive-thru forget about it.
it doesn't make a difference which location are all great locations but they're all crowded with the drive-thru so it's walk up service if you want to get. Love that Chick-fil-A eat more chicken said the cow.

My first time here, really loved the atmosphere. Had vip tickets to see Bob James and man really loved the whole ambience. Will come back and stay over for a concert soon!

Customer service was great! We were in the Catalina building which seems to be newly renovated. The use and placement of furniture for the large room was lacking. Room service came on a tray instead of the standard rolling table. Campus was nice, beautiful and clean but self parking was a bit far.

Very nice hotel with a slight classic feel to it. I was thrown off by the bathroom only having plantation doors for privacy but since I was by myself it was manageable. The one thing I found weird is that there wasn't much I could wander to if I walked off premise. If I really wanted to go somewhere I would definitely have to Uber it

Great Hotel, family friendly, attentive, kind, kid friendly, and great hospitality. We booked 4 rooms and a friend booked 1 extra room for my daughter's 15th bday. The teens couldn't stop talking about how nice the pool staff and waiters at the Shore were to them. They were all happy with the stay, and the staff. I recommend this place to big groups of fam and friends. The restaurant Shore was so attentive, kind, and helpful with my huge group of 20 for our late dinner. The front desk was helpful, amd informative. The drinks were great and the bonfire was so fun and fantastic. We hung out 2 nights at the bonfire and were so pleased with our large group. I highly recommend The Hyatt Regency in NPB to everyone!

It's all right, the pull out sofa bed is pretty bad though.

spectacular grounds, friendly staff, rooms range from slightly dates to very nice.

Front desk was not accommodating. We booked this hotel so that we could stay with friends flying in from out-of-state. We called when we made the reservation and again the morning of our stay. Not only were we not in the same building of our friends, we did not even get an adjoining room with our young children when we checked-in. We have stayed at the Marriott just up the street, which I would highly recommend over this Hyatt. I never leave reviews, even when I have bad service so it is saying something for me to make the effort to login and type a review. Do yourself a favor and book the Marriott. Nice property and much better service

The european style air conditioning "chirped" the entire night. It was too late to call maintenance or switch rooms.

The pools were lackluster (at least for adults - the kids pool looked good for younger ones).

The beds were as stiff as boards.

Really nice location but I can't help but feel it's very over priced. The rooms are ok and could be much nicer for the price. The fact that you have to pay more for king bed is ridiculous. Customer service is good.

It was great but the self parking is rediculous expensive. $27 bucks to park and walk? Also 17 dollars for a burrito? Meh.

Went to the hotel to attend a work event. The entire place was immaculate and I was very impressed by the event rooms/area

Rooms were spacious and clean and the pools were beautiful, but somehow it felt like another nice hotel and not quite the Hyatt experience I'm used to. Would definitely go back again as, for the price, beats out the nearby competition.

I hate always trying to write bad reviews but I'll explain everything before a person judges this review. Numero uno: the bath room I have has shutters so really no privacy; Public bathrooms get disgusting; 75 dollars a night for a service charge (take my spending money before Christmas thanks alot ); restaurant only for the rich people. Don't go through booking they will stick you in the lowest parts of their room aka like their dungeon that seems like a good price. Never get my business again and I'll also warn people about this. Hyatt only for the rich. These reviews don't help I guess it just to warn people.

This is an exceptional place to stay. Close to shops, beach, airport... It's a place I recommend staying.

Spent most of the time at the pool with the slide. Service was a little slow, but pool was very busy. Really liked the free Otter Pops for kids! Room was clean and view was great.

Very class! Spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. Easy access to pool and hot tub. Only con that I give it is that parking is a little walk to the rooms.

Noticed a lot of gnats in room. Walls are way to thin I could hear people in room next to me going to the bathroom and among other things.... Disappointed there was no mini fridge in room. The grounds are really nice but hard to think about staying here again or recommending to someone.

Will not be staying here again. Stayed at the hotel on business and did not book this hotel myself - booked by my employer and I ve informed them of my experience. I ve gotten terrible sleep the entire 4 nights I ve been here because my room is placed ABOVE their bar and they have PAPER THIN FLOORS/WALLS. The bar is open until midnight, which is typically when I ve been able to fall asleep. I asked if they could have the guests in the bar please be quieter and I was told it was out of the front desk s wheelhouse and that quiet hours begin at 10pm. They offered to give me a $50 credit, waive resort and parking fees, or bring a drink up to my room.... what good will those do for me? I want to go to sleep and get a goodnight s rest. Not listen to drunken guests at the hotel bar nor listen to the music the hotel has been blasting in the lobby. I m only giving this hotel two stars because the staff and room service have been good. I would not suggest this hotel though to any of my friends. Also, with how much they are charging, the room should have been a lot nicer.

Some rooms have a great view but others are a little small, if you are looking for a place to stay with a nice pool, this is definitely a good choice. Pool has a small water slide and looks great.

The noisiest hotel I've stayed at that does not rent rooms by the hour. I called security twice because of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade being rehearsed in the room above mine. The yodelers in the rooms on both sides of me only yodeled until midnight. If the walls were any thinner, I would have had to wear a robe when I got out of bed.

Three hot tubs. Three pools. Middle of the cream of the crop Orange County. Staying across the Porsche dealership expect to see multiple exotic cars in the area.

Pool was clean and the water temperature was pretty good. Wasn't that busy, we had a great time.

These folks are extremely accommodating! This stay was the main reason for a trip to see a doctor for some mold issues. So I had some picky requirements. The room could not have any perfumes or fresheners. The linens couldn't fabric softeners, scents, smells, etc. Any AC sucks the life out of me, so I had to have a door that opened to the outside. And even though I did a bundle on Travelocity they worked with me every step of the way! The room was large, king bed and faced the inlet bay of Newport. And man...it was quiet. Be advised it is on the flight path of John Wayne Airport so you can expect a wake-up call at 7:00 a.m. sharp... :) .All the employees bent over backward to make sure everything was taken care of.
The only drawback was the Shor restaurant and the waiting time for service and meal. And it was a bit pricey. I am not used to eating at resorts so maybe that is the way it is. But it certainly did not take away at all from the rest of it. Resort feel in the middle of the city..very cool!

Great location, perfect weather, awesome staff, amazing property layout.

Attended the annual conference of the California association of school psychologists. It was an adequate location for the conference.
