Hyatt Regency Newport Beach Review

Great clean rooms. Pools were nice and sparkling. Food and drink services were prompt and staff was very friendly.

Decent rooms and surroundings. There's no mini bar at all.

When my wife and i first arrived we recieved a room in another building. This room was definitely not cleaned well and not worth the price. After speaking with a manager they apologized and gave us a different room. If it wasnt for the manager i would rate this a 1 or 2, but the manager definitely accommodated us and made us happy. Besides the issue with the room, the amenities are awesome at this hotel. I would go back if we dont get shafted on a decent room.

Hotel overall not so modern however pool was good but no lifeguard? Rooms not cleaned thoroughly enough layers of dust everywhere. I had to call to get a set of clean towels. On my last night, I discovered a gross red stain on the bed linen which was not mine at all. On top of that service is not great and very slow.
Overall was not impressed and should not be a 4 star hotel.

It was all wonderful except tbe awful music in the pool areas. Please turn the music off and let us relax in peace and quiet.

Excellent service! Chris at the front desk was just amazing! He provided better service than some 5 star hotels we have been at such as Monarch, Pelican Hill, and Terranea. We were celebrating our 7 year Anniversary. Shor restaurant staff were amazing. Jose, Hector, Ivan, and Erin were great. All hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The valet staff are always a pleasure and extremely helpful. Hope to be back soon!

rooms are a bit outdated especially if u're not staying in the main building (catalina), hence one star off for general review of the place. otherwise all else nice. good location. very friendly staff. chris (going out of his way) helped a lot w/ check-in process during my first visit 5-mo ago when my then 8-mo pregnant wife was accompanying. my recent 2nd visit with now 4-mo old boy, elizabeth spent extra time finding a suitable room meeting our needs. she didn't have to but did and i truly appreciated it which made our stay more enjoyable.

Lovely property with a happy and accommodating staff. Maps everywhere to help you navigate and a good overall atmosphere.

The service is excellent! Beautiful grounds, wonderful restaurant, gorgeous pools. Dog friendly with extra charge. Clean and comfy. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return. Can get noisy near the family pool where they make you stay if you have a dog. Additional charges for resort fee and parking adds up.

Fast friendly check-in, clean rooms with lots of amenities you can request for free if you've forgotten anything. Self parking isn't close to the rooms, but there's plenty of it.

The hotel staff is very kind and friendly, the facilities are great for the family. We loved it!

The seafood restaurant is excellent and the location with the bay beach is just great

Clean, nice room, outdated facility. The largest, frustrating problem was the paper thin walls. We could hear every conversation, sneeze, cough from the neighboring room. It was absolutely horrible, ruining our sleeping, and romantic Valentine s weekend away. Our room had an adjoining door that may have contributed to the noise sharing. Noise was also fairly loud from the entry door and window, being older. We heard everyone walking by, more-so than in other hotel stays that we ve had. We have stayed in hotels around the world, we ve never experienced such noise from hotel neighbors. And, it should be noted that the people weren t being particularly rambunctious our rowdy. Knowing we didn t want another uncomfortable night, we shared our thoughts with the front desk, requesting a change of rooms. The staff couldn t accommodate our request, due to it being a sold out weekend. They offered a $50 credit. We are extremely surprised that a hotel of this caliber and reputation would have such poor noise control and circumstances. We certainly can t be the first patrons that have brought this to the staff s attention.

Station adequate and the room was close to the station. Everything was clean, but some lights were broken.

Went to the Oasis pool for a pool party. Awesome atmosphere, beautiful pool, and the drinks were on point. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful as well!

Hotel is beautiful, close to the beach, shuttles everywhere, and the restaurant is nice.

[5-STAR RECOMMENDATION] This hotel is conveniently located in Newport Beach, California near the coast. There is an absolutely stunning and amazing view from the hotel. The service associates are very friendly and professional. I would highly recommend checking this place out.

I was there for a political conference a few weeks back and it was an amazing experience. I grew up in Las Vegas and my family traveled alot as well, so staying at hotels a few times a year was the norm for us. This hotel is the best hotel i've ever stayed at. With the resort fee, it came with complimentary bikes, and my pals and I went to the beach and the mall to grab food with them. In the morning, I woke up early to go work out and for someone like me who goes to a regular gym everyday back home, this had about 90% of what I use to work out with on a regular basis. The employees were very nice and welcoming as well, and accommodated my request for more soaps, sheets, and water.
The distance from the hotel to the mall , balboa island and balboa pier is extremely nice as well. Recommend this hotel for business and vacation 100%!

I would give it 4 stars...but just barely. The location is perfect. You are walking distance to Balboa Island and a bike ride to Corona Del Mar. We had one of the Villas, which are a very nice private room, with kitchen, dining room and are own pool. This part was great. The room decor is a bit dated but everything was very clean. My only major gripe was that in these rooms you have a room above you and they are wood structures. In other words, any type of walking from your upstairs neighbor is going to wake you immediately.

Great place for kids too as they had a small water slide as well.

Excellent stay at this hotel. Lovely clean and spacious room in the Balboa building. 3 lovely pools to choose from but we went to the indulge pool next to balboa building due to close proximity. Gym has all new machines and great selection. Lots of places to sit and relax with a drink or a book around the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful all over hotel, especially someone called Chris at the front desk. He really made our stay excellent! We will definitely be back! Servers at the Shor restaurant onsite also very accommodating and helpful. Gave us tips on where to go for sightseeing.

Was only there for the jazz festival held on the golf course. Beautiful grounds and beautiful surroundings of river views. Well maintained and very clean despite the crowds. Venue was outdoors.

Service was amazing and everyone was super nice. Every time I go here, all the staff is very helpful and welcoming.

It was my second time visit here.
It's not the best but I really like its atmosphere.
I'd like to come again with my family in the future.

It's like a good looking guy but turns out to be shallow. It's interesting if not disappointing. When you first enter the Hyatt in the early evening, it looks grand, with the lighted palm trees, the beautiful entryway. The check-in process was great & easy. We were first sent to the Lido area & as we walked over, I thought, is this the motel 8- ghetto area? The area looked 70s -80s motel with a bunch of noisy people. We looked for an elevator but couldn't find one, found out later, there are no elevators. My husband carried our luggage upstairs. As we were walking towards our room, we noticed quite a few plastic trash bags outside of rooms, looked dirty, maybe people are living here, not sure. We get to room & it's still dirty from the previous guests, they never cleaned it. I call the front desk, the girl apologizes & I am upset, I ask for an upgrade, we haul our bags back to the front desk & now we are sent to the Balboa area, the difference is an elevator & an almost clean room (the bathroom still had someones pubes in the bathtub, I wanted to vomit but whatever) wow this is Newport Beach, & this is such a sad hotel & maybe because of COVID they are even more understaffed at this old hotel. It's our first time traveling since COVID, & we will wait till it's over & make better decisions on where we stay.

Fancy hotel but like most fancy hotels, nothing comes free with the room rate. It's also not close to anything in particular.

I stayed briefly but my room was very clean and the staff is taking the proper precautions during covid. It was very enjoyable.

I've lost count on how many times I've stayed here... Pools are very nice, good food, great location. Self parking is a joke and over priced. The resort fee is excessive. Otherwise, it's a great hotel. Although it may not seem like it but you can actually walk to balboa Island. There's a walking path nearby or you can walk along the street and down the hill.

Nice Location, entrance was a little small to drive in to. Parking by the terrace could be improved.

Room smelled. Really cheap. Felt more like a motel. Charged a resort fee without any warning.

Great rooms, Great location, Great amenities. I loved my stay at this place and enjoyed playing on the oversized chess board and over sized shuffle board.

Beautiful modern look. Newly renovated. Really clean. Nice room... Maybe little overlooked details, as a hook on the wall near shower.. otherwise really nice.

It's in a beautiful area. The resort is very kid friendly, with a slide and splash pad in the pool area as well as a ping pong table. The rooms are clean and updated but there's no proper door to the bathroom.

They do a good job teaching the kids to swing a golf club and learn the lingo.

Room was what felt like a mile away from the lobby.

One of the older, crappier Hyatts... Guess they get away with it given the location.

I stayed here for about a week. The area is beautiful and there are many things to do inside the hotel while you're staying, but my experience was really really really awful. Here are things that I wish I knew before reserving a room here:

Noisy: I don't even know where to start with this one! When I first checked in, I was given a room on the first floor. At around 5 am a loud thumping, banging noise woke me up. Turned out that it was from the guest on the second floor walking around the room. In the morning I asked them to change my room to the upper level. They did, and I went to a room on the upper level which was facing the swimming pool. Unfortunately, I got rid of one noise and got my self into so many others. During the day, I wasn't able to have a quite moment at all as I could hear all the noise from the shared swimming pool area, and during the night, i could hear almost everything that people were doing in the rooms next to me. The noise problem is a solved problem in many hotels. It could have been easily avoided if they had used some good insulation.

Bad Restaurant: To start, I should say that the restaurant has a fixed menu for everyday with limited options, specially if you have food restriction or preferences (e.g., if you are vegetarian). I sort of was OK with that and I went there for a couple of times, and once I was out of options I decided to order a salad. I picked a salad and asked whether it's vegetarian. I was told it is, so I ordered it. Once I started my meal, I tasted meat in my food. Turned out that there was actually pork in my salad! This was a horrible horrible experience. In another occasion, I had to have breakfast at the hotel, so I decided to try their buffet. I picked scrambled eggs and French toast, and both of them were cold and absolutely tasteless.

Annoyingly Negligent Staff: I had two bad experiences with the staff. First, when I checked in, apparently my info was not entered in the system currently. When I went to the restaurant to have dinner, I asked them to charge it on my room. And they couldn't find me in their system. I had to go back and check in again! In another incident, at around 11pm when I was in the bed trying hard to sleep (with all that annoying noise) somebody knocked the door. Turned out that he brought somebody else's bags and luggages to deliver to my room mistakenly!

Not Sanitized: I had to be really careful in the mornings to use the bathroom! In two occasions, I found small and tiny worms wiggling in the bathtub (and in one occasion a dead spider).

Overall, I will never waist my money at this hotel ever!

We thought it would be a place that we could relax and it was not. Just a bunch of little brats running and screaming everywhere!! Great place to bring your rude kids to run around and run a muck of the place. Holiday inn would have been a better stay then hear!! Also people smoking cigarettes everywhere as well.

Only thing I didn't like was no small microwave. Everything else was great.

Sweet hotel has children's tubs and its location is sweet but needs to change furniture
