I have to say that I am concerned with all the one star reviews and truly wonder what the other side of the story is. I'm an insurance agent and in NO WAY affiliated with Homesite. I do, however, use them for my home insurance. I had a total loss fire and was amazed at the customer service and support I received at that horrible time. The adjuster came out and was very thorough and wonderful. He was very concerned for my families well being and our safety. We were put into our temporary living immedietely and the pay out to us to rebuild recover was very quick. We dont have a mortgage so they paid us directly.

I couldn't be happier with Homesite and they have a customer for life. I know I'm going to be taken care of.

I would give no stars if I could....I had renters insurance with this company....I wouldn't deal with them if I were you.....my house burned down when I wasnt home thankfully....this was on 1/13/2018.....my house was a total loss...I lost everything....electrical fire from faulty wiring I had no idea about because I rented......I was accused by homesite for 6 months of setting my house on fire...finally proved it was from no fault of my own and they had no apologies for their behavior.....they did put us up in a hotel because they had to...but stalled hoping I was homeless and desperate to take a small offer.... I pulled through on my own.....here it is now almost 2019 and they are still playing games.....had to jump through hoops for them for nothing....they are rude and uncaring....still have received nothing from them and I have a public adjuster on the case.....the worst insurance company you can have....they only care about money not the customer.....they actually find joy in toying with you knowing full well you just lost everything you own.....this has been the worst year of my life and they are a big reason it has been....save yourself the trouble and go with state farm....I had them before this and regret ever switching to this joke of a company....big mistake on my part trying to save a buck

Horrible company! Stay away from Geico home insurance as it's managed by this company. Terrible, terrible, terrible! Unprofessional procrastinators. Review with 5 stars are absolutely paid by the company. I wish Google had 0 starts. Company to AVOID AT ANY COST. I have a claim active with them form more than a month and will be posting updates.

Horrible online system and customer service.

Horrible online system and customer service.

I was attempting to purchase a quote for a condo policy, but needed to go back and change a detail. I got locked out while trying to make the changes so I started a new quote, which I purchased. I ended up getting charged for both quotes which obviously shouldn't have happened. I requested a cancellation of the duplicate policy, but was told a refund would take 15-20 business days. Another rep told me 72 hours (did not receive a refund by then). When I asked to expedite they told me they would have to contact billing (whom I can't speak with directly). Considering that I requested the cancellation before the policy was even in force, and that the purchase wasn't even my doing, I should get a near instant refund. Even if this wasn't the case, refunds should be processed MUCH quicker than 15-20 business days, more like 24-72 hours MAX. Money should refunded as fast as it's withdrawn, period.

Homesite really needs to get their act together here. They're offering their services to all sorts of carriers and don't even offer good customer service. They should focus on their core values first before branching out.

On top of this, their policy management system needs work. The biggest issue is the fact that you can only associate one policy per e-mail address. If you have multiple policies, you need to have multiple e-mail addresses in order to log in. Very poor system design.

Their conversion system is non-existent as well. There are ads outlining that you can convert renters to condo and vice versa if you're moving, but that just links you to the quote system, which doesn't even ask for your existing policy. So I guess you're just supposed to let the system or a human figure it out? There should be a stage that explicitly outlines what policy you're converting, when it should happen, and how much you will save.

I'm keeping the condo policy since it's tied in with my Progressive Auto policy, but if I was just in the market for a condo policy, I would definitely shop elsewhere.

Homesite has a lot of potential with their business model, but they need to make some serious system and customer service improvements to be considered a reasonable choice as an insurer.

Called to insure camera equipment specifically for water damage and traveling. The camera was damaged from water and they said they cannot insure it for that. I was promised and assured when insuring that everything would be covered, theft, dropped, water, anywhere in the world, my equipment was covered. Not only did they not cover it but they never give me the claim adjusters last name or claim number - whenever I call with the claim number it doesn't work or get me to anyone. This is a complete scam. filing with the Better business bureau.

They cancelled our coverage right after issuing our policy. Sent us the notice by snail mail so we had to scramble for another policy on a very short timeline. Unprofessional and were not willing to work with us at all.

I got an insurance bundle through GEICO and didn't realize they outsourced their home insurance to Homesite until I had to make a claim due to my house being burglarized. All they have done so far is try everything possible to get out of paying me for everything from the items stolen to the damage the burglars did when they broke in,and this is with full receipts and photographs. The adjuster, Star Smith lied to me several times and accused me of lying to her. She told me they wouldn't cover certain items unless I could prove how they are used, when I asked what kind of proof she required she said that was my problem.

Having my house broken into and my stuff stolen was a horrible experience, but so far dealing with this insurance company has actually been worse. My renewal is coming up in a few months and I'll be leaving GEICO entirely due to how bad Homesite has screwed up their home coverage, I don't even care if it costs me more, I just want a company that's honest and will give me the service I'm paying them for if I need it. My claim is still open but so far they've refused to pay for pretty much everything.

Despite the difficulties of mergers and buy outs, Homesite has maintained a seemingly comfortable work environment and kind customer service. Many people come online to give terrible ratings after having a difficult situation with the company but it's important to note that the aim of a home insurance company such as Homesite is not to steal your money, but to help you in ways that they are able. They are not magicians and they definitely cannot fix everything, but they do their best.

They take your money and do not cover anything... buyer beware!!! You better read The Perils of the master policy or you're going to get screwed by this company. Darren Wright does not return phone calls either period and upper management doesn't seem to care about anything anybody doesn't work for him. Go find someone else for your insurance needs maybe they won't be as bad to deal with. You're better off self-insuring yourself!

Wow. I just got a call from my mortgage lender to let me know that after I had paid for my policy in full, Homesite had decided to cancel it. We received no notice. No phone call, no email, no letters to let us know. The BANK had to call to tell me. The only thing Homesite did was mail a refund check to the WRONG ADDRESS.

My husband is a supervisor for a roofing company. Homesite is trying to say our roof is not acceptable. Two independent inspectors say there is nothing wrong with our roof. My husband says there is nothing wrong with the roof. There is definitely nothing wrong with the roof. But alas, my policy was terminated with no notice. Now I am scrambling to get insured. THANK YOU HOMESITE!!! You truly stink... Buyers beware! This is the home insurance that famous car insurances use to "save you 15% or more" with. You get what you pay for.

The absolute worst. Watching my mother go through so much stress dealing with this company. The adjuster D. Kaiser never kept my mother informed on the claim and I have a suspicion that the construction company has ties to the insurance company even though they go out of their way to claim otherwise. Very unethical practices and just overall horrible customer service. No respect. The worst.

FIRST OF ALL. Your website is f****** trash. It takes me literally 20-30 minutes to find where to log in just to make a payment. Second. My policy was canceled without getting any notification of it by mail or email or even a phone call. I found out when I called about not being able to find where to log in to make my payment. Im on the phone with them right now and someone is about to get yelled at because this is some first class bull****.

Worst company I have ever dealt with.... Sent in repair photos of everything they wanted taken care of. They waited three weeks to review the photos and came back saying the repairs were insufficient the day before they were going to cancel me. Would not offer an extension and offered no explanation of why the repairs were insufficient. I promptly called progressive and told them to get me a real insurance company and they did. Thanks for being the absolute worst company in the world. You deserve every bit of your 1.6 star average and hopefully you will be out of business very soon.

After seeing all the 1 star reviews I felt obligated to share my experience.

I have a renters insurance policy through progressive and experienced some severe smoke damage in my rented townhome from my attached neighbors fire.

After filing a claim with the after hours number, I was promptly called by my claims agent the following morning where she connected me with a loss of use agent to find me a place to live. They took care of all the booking and payments for an extended stay hotel and even fronted me money for food and loss of use items. My policy covered a total of $4k for hotel and food which comfortably lasted me a month.

The next process was meeting a restoration team at my townhome to go over what could be restored or non salvaged. This is where some info could have been handy. It is up to you to determine who does the restoration work and you are not obligated to use who your insurer sends. The restoration team made it sound like I HAD to let them attempt to restore an item before I could replace it. I didnt start the fire, therefore, I dont want to use any contaminated items that were in the fire if I dont have to. They charge a lot to do this and that money comes out of your policy when it could go towards new and fresher things. Make sure you are there when they pack your belongings to tell them exactly what you wish to restore. I got there when most of my things had already been boxed up and after going through it, I only kept about 5% of the items. They would have charged me to clean everything had I not. They even had a small garbage can boxed up with garbage in it; not something I wish to have restored, thanks.

After the restoration company packed the things I wished to restore and itemized the things I declared non salvageable, it took around three weeks to get an itemized list of my homes contents. From there I had to go through roughly 700 items on a spreadsheet and give them a condition, age, and replacement value. The list was sent to my insurer where after a month their pricing team evaluated the list, finding that my replacement total exceeded my policy. They promptly issued me a payment of the remainder of my policy.

The whole process of filling a claim to getting paid took around 2.5 months. My claim agent, Nicole Hatch was great and very professional. My only concern was that timeframes for the whole process weren't clear leaving me guessing if I'd be waiting days, weeks, or months for steps to be completed. This can be frustrating when your living in an empty apartment with a matress of the floor. My advice would be to describe each step to the customer as if they were five years old. Most people have never filed a claim before and the uncertainty of how the system works can add a lot of unnecessary stress.

Overall, Homesite exceed my expectations on my renters insurance claim and they should be given the appropriate credit. 5 stars.

This company is horrible, do not sign up with them. I had a busted pipe in my home which caused my floors to be damaged and my basement flooded. The adjuster came and only approved a $10,000 claim. When I had the damage looked at by contractors they estimated the cost of repair to be $50,000. The insurance adjuster refused to increase the amount of money for and claim, which led to no one wanting to fix our home. For 3 months my 4 children and I were living in an unsafe home with arisen floor boards due to water damage. What saved me was hiring a public adjuster, who helped to take care of my issues and finally the company paid us the amount we needed to fix our home. The worst part was because of the adjuster s negligence, we were displaced from our home for 4 months due to the damages and time it took to fix our home. Dealing with homesite was a horrible experience that I would never want anyone else to go through.

Horrible horrible horrible they take your money they make it very hard for you to put in a claim they want you to spend money out of your pocket then they will see if they will pay you I think they are a bunch of thieves . this is what happened in my basement sewer backed up and Clog my sub pump

BEWARE. We lost our home thanks to Home Site.

BEWARE. We lost our home thanks to Home Site.

We are First Time Home Buyers. I'll summarize the scenario as short as possible, super left-field and unexpected. Recently our home insurance quintupled (x5) doubling our mortgage. We cannot get other insurance, it seems our only option is to leave our home.

The Reason: When we purchased our home, we did not have an insurance adjuster or anyone to call. We simply chose our home insurance based on who we currently had auto insurance with (Progressive). This ended up being an insurance provider called "Home Site Insurance".

When we had questions, we called them directly. Fast-Forward to now, I call and ask why my rate quintupled and they say it's because I have 5 claims (five?!!!). I ask to rundown each claim, turns out 3 out of 5 are zero dollar claims where we simply called to ask a question/inquiry. For example, there's an old tree on a public street that could fall on our house. My wife called to ask in the event of a bad storm if this fell would the city cover it or them? They marked this (and two others) as claims that were closed due to lack of interest from customer. They filed it as a Weather Damage claim.

I feel extremely conned, we have never missed a mortgage payment. We've paid our mortgage early every month. All other insurance providers cannot insure us based on the amount of claims we have. I feel Home Site has kicked us out of our home. Registering zero dollar claims is illegal in some states, but not ours. Take it from me, AVOID Home Site at all cost.

Ugh, I would not recommend this company to anybody...

Ugh, I would not recommend this company to anybody. I recently purchased my first home. The house had some older wiring, so most insurance companies wouldn't touch it. Weeks before closing, I was calling different insurance companies to get quotes and confirmation that they would cover the wiring. Everyone I talked to pointed me to Homesite as the only company they knew that would cover it. I called Homesite, and the customer service rep couldn't answer any of my questions. When I asked her specifically about the wiring, she just referred to the buttons she was clicking on the screen as she was asking me questions about the house. She had zero knowledge of what the policy actually would cover. Then, at the end of the call, she proceeded to give me a policy number and asked for the escrow information, which I did not provide. I was a bit astonished since I had mentioned several times that I was only looking for a quote. She told me not to worry, that I could always cancel the policy before closing and I wouldn't owe anything. I tried calling back later in the week to ask a couple of other questions, and spent at least an hour and a half on hold before giving up. I ended up getting the wiring replaced so that I could use the insurance company of my choice. Luckily it was easy to cancel the policy I never actually signed up for online, as the phone call to cancel was another hour on hold with no answer. Stay away! They weren't even the cheapest insurance company I talked to.

Worst insurance experience ever!! Disappointed that Geico associated their selves with this dishonest company. I called Geico to attempt to lower my insurance premiums. They directed me to Homesite and claimed they would be lowering my cost. Two weeks later it turns out that they have INCREASED my monthly cost by $200!!

I have Homesite bundled with my Geico Auto. We had wind damage on our roof were a few shingles blew off in different spots. I called Homesite claims and the CS agent was very pleasant thorough. Adjuster came out 2 days later and approved partial roof replacement. He explained to me in detail which my contractor agreed why he cannot approve a full roof replacement.

I received the insurance estimate via email the very next day and another email for electronic claim payment. I followed the link for payment and filled in my bank info. Payment was in my account in 3 days.

I decided to replace my whole roof and supplemented the money that Homesite payed out. After I got the final invoice from my contractor, I emailed it to Homesite at 5:30pm Wednesday to get the recoverable depreciation. Received the approval and electronic claim payment at 6am Thursday and the money was in my account Friday.

After a month, I received my policy renewal and my rate increased a whopping $9 bucks.

Overall, I got outstanding service from Homesite.

Wow! There are a lot of 1 star reviews! Fortunately my experience was very different (although I have yet to see if my rates increase due to my claim). I have renters insurance and back in June my storage unit at my apartment was broken into and I had to file a claim. The adjuster I worked with was very nice and professional and helped to guide me through acquiring receipts and pictures of the stolen items. Once submitted I received a check to start replacing items. She explained the process of reimbursement so I was fully informed. I've recently finished replacing all the items and submitted the second round of receipts for depreciation value. Again the adjuster was great to work with. Gave me clear instructions on how to label the receipts and again once submitted I received a check. My experience was really a great one! The turnaround time from submitting receipts and getting a check was less than two days. At this point I'm very happy with my experience with Homesite Insurance. They made a traumatic experience easier to take.

I hate to leave a negative review, but this company is truly terrible and should be avoided at all costs. We have used Progressive insurance for our Auto, Travel Trailer, and Home for over 10 years. I've never had any issue until our Home Owners Policy became underwritten by Homesite. Homesite Insurance has had more than $2k of our money (refund for overpayment) in limbo for over 2 months. Their floor supervisors say there is nothing they can do to get us our money, and there is no higher authority there who can help. They literally do not care about their customer experience. Don't make the same mistake as us and stay away from @HomesiteInsurance at all costs.

Like many reviews before, they decided to raise my insurance by $1000 for 2020 because I bought a new car. Huh? Have perfect credit and zero claims. I have had your insurance for 6+ years and have dealed with the increase in price every year. Found another well known provider for way cheaper with the exact same specs. No loyalty to their long running customers.

The worst customer service experience ever with the claim process. Sadly, I didn t realize Geico partnered with them for my home insurance until my first claim, which they denied after a quick phone conversation with the adjustor, without even taking a look at anything it tells you a lot there though I m told they could reach out to the contractors I used to replace my roof that I paid out of my pocket to ask them questions etc. and thought they could potentially review the report by a well-respected independent inspector I hired, which contained plenty of photos taken for my roof. Fortunately, my home issue was not that bad; I would imagine worst case and I had to deal with this...

This company underwrites my home through Progressive. The customer service is good, until you ask some non sales questions. On the phone with Carrie Carter the supervisor now. After hours spent on the phone she has confirmed that the cost of dwelling rebuild goes up $45000 if you have crown molding in your living room. This is based "cost of material and labor."

I'm cancelling my policy, along with the rest of my Progressive bundle and going to Erie.

I called to change my insurance from homeowners to landlord and they said no problem. They said they had to cancel my homeowners insurance first before setting up the landlord insurance, so I went through with cancelling the insurance. Then they transferred me to sales which told me they don't offer landlord insurance in Washington State. Now I'm scrambling to get insurance coverage before midnight tonight. I was able to get insurance through Liberty Mutual but I lost $200/year discount because my current insurance through Homesite was ending tonight at midnight. Thanks Homesite for the total mess up and loss of $200!

Homesite inspector came to our house, hopped on a ladder to the roof, didn t notify us they were doing a home inspection, didn t look inside, took 5 pictures and then said we were uninsurable because of the roof. Homesite inspector should have notified us they were inspecting our home. It s the safe and proper thing to do.

Kept cancelling my policy without my say so. They wanted me to replace the roof on a house that had been replaced 7 years before. The roof had nothing wrong with it. They wouldn't budge, switched to USAA and they're so much better. Don't go with homesite.

Tornadoes touched down in Dallas in late October and the wind ripped shingles off my house causing a leak due to the rain. This company decided 100 dollars would be enough for the damages. Hail damaged our roof they sent a small check to a roofing co. that tried to cheet us by doubling the money we had to pay after we made the deal. The check in our name and theirs.Homesite put a stop on the check when we told them we were not using this roofing company. Now they are not paying nothing .

This company is the worst. I got a policy with them and they were not able to coordinate with my mortgage company (despite myself and the mortgage company calling multiple times) to get the payment from escrow. I was lied to by the agent selling me the policy multiple times saying they would handle it. And trying to use them for insurance ended up costing me an extra $2000 because of their poor communication and management of the policy. I would stay as far away from this company as possible. I can only imagine how poorly they would handle an actual claim.

Extremely unprofessional customer service. Was double charged for the sum of $721 for homeowners insurance on a home I ve owned for literally 6 months. Customer Services lies to me on the phone and they re supervisors are of no help. Won t mail me a check says they have to give it to the Title company. They have said they mailed a refund check twice and zero checks have reached the Title Company? How can a company get way with stealing hard earned money. Lawsuits need to be filed against the company and civil suits against they re employees. Would never recommend Progressive or Homesite to anyone. Stay far away and go without insurance before you ever consider either company!

Beware! We have had progressive Homesite for a few years now. We put our first and only claim in that was under our deductible. Homesite retracted the claim because it was under the deductible. So Progressive Homesite responds by dropping our policy. Worse part is they did not notify us of the cancellation and we had to find out from our mortgage company. This is the reason you can't trust insurance companies. They take your money for years then when you make a very small claim, which I get was dumb on my part for making a claim under my deductible, they drop you. We will be removing all of our policies away from this company.

I bought the home insurance, like everyone else, bundle with geico auto insurance. After one month, the home insurance get canceled without notice, we called homesite, and have been told cause the little branches above the roof so then canceled the insurance. Then we called tree service company to see the trees. The people from tree company told us the tree is healthy and branches above roof shouldn't be a problem. So we called Homesite, Homesite does not take any word from the professional tree service people, cause they are more "professional" than everyone else. After all this, i searched online realize this company is a worst company for home insurance, i called geico, told them it really disappointing that geico would work with such terrible company. We will switch both auto and home insurance to other company. I realize how lucky i am to get the homesite canceled, so we can leave this terrible company away.
___________________________________________________________________
Follow up with the Homesite cancellation. I cancelled the Homesite home insurance immediately after i figure out that it sucks. I also cancelled my geico car insurance a week later. Now i received geico auto insurance refund, but still waiting for Homesite refund. And today i checked online, Homesite has already deleted my account prior to refund me. I don't know if i still can expect refund from Homesite. Poor service!

I had to file a claim for my home. This company is absolutely the worst, everything from the inspector that came out to the point of contacts from Homesite. No one can give me a direct answer and they always refer me to frequently asked questions page. The representative from the company could barely write a complete sentence.

If I could leave no stars that would be ideal!! Unfortunately I experienced a severe thunderstorm at my home! The powerline surged the house frying the furnace and multiple other things at my residence! After filing a claim which they made me feel like they were fully on my side and would take care of me and my family. They sent a claims adjuster Mark Dutra out to my home who needless to say made us feel like criminals! After a full investigation through multiple companies they supplied! And would not believe anybody else s word but only the companies they work for directly! It was determined to only be worth $700 to them! For the sake of your home and your family s protection please steer clear of this company!!!

I would give a zero if that is possible. I canceled my insurance with them and it has been over 54 days and I am still waiting for my refund check. I have made multiple calls and on each of those calls the agents told me that my refund is in the mail. The last agent I spoke to said his name is Quincy and would not pass me on to a supervisor but would have a supervisor call me back.

Dealing with Homesite has been a horrible experience thus far. We had sump pump failure which we are covered for. I filed a claim on Saturday ---it is now Tuesday and we still haven't had an adjuster come out. Servepro can't continue work until an adjuster comes out so I have water sitting in my basement which is doing more and more damage as time goes on. Additionally my house now smells horribly like mildew and I have 2 young children and my wife is pregnant.......They are completely unresponsive to phone calls and the only person I can ever get in touch with is a "claims specialist" whom isn't qualified to answer any questions I have had. I preciously had SafeCo whom were great when I had to file a claim about 10 years ago. I switched to have my homeowners and car both be through Geico and I seriously regret it. Stay away from Homesite. My policy expires in August and I don't plan to renew with them or Geico because of how awful they have been to deal with. Overall terrible experience.

Unfortunately my condo needs fire mitigation, long delayed given the fire was at the end of August, 2018..I need a decision about $ for Recovering my ceiling. I have told 4 customer service people my story, and have yet to speak or get a reply to voicemails, emails. Yikes.... I m a victim again.

Started policy in March of 2019 and was satisfied with rates. 2020 renewal documents arrived and I was floored that my rate went from 1956.00 to 4852.00!!!!!! Reason being that I bought a new car so my amount of used credit increased. What does that have to do with my homeowners insurance?

Policy at renewal went up 325% after 10 years with company and zero claims. Was told it's because TransUnion had an incomplete file on me. Spent a month writing 3 separate letters to TransUnion to get correct address on file, each time they requested more information.

After it was finally changed I had Homesite re-run the score and it came back worse tier from 20 to 21 (was tier 4 previously). Explained to homesite multiple times that we had payed off all our debt about 15 years ago so my credit report is empty (no negatives stuff on it either).

They were completely rude and basically told me they were not going to investigate the problem with the " third party" they use for insurance scoring, that this was the offer so take it or leave it. We left it and got insurance through another company for less than my original policy with homesite.

Filed a complaint with the insurance commission about the bad faith policy they have of penalizing people that are debt free, it must be doing something becouse because I got a call from them the day after my policy expired asking what they can do to fix the problem. I ignored the call but kept the voicemail.

If the state commission agrees that Homesite violated Maine insurance law Title 24 (as it clearly has) I will request the highest fine applicable and then consult an attorney about filling a bad faith tort lawsuit.

I don't want to see my parents or your parents or other elderly treated like they are some sort of criminal or a risk because they responsibly paid off their debt.

This has to be the worst company that ever existed as far as home owners insurance. I was in the process of getting a refinance, the underwriter stated my roof was hazardous and would need a new roof in 30 days or my insurance would be cancelled. Got another insurance company (at a lower rate) and no mention of needing a new roof after inspection. Also had inspections on the roof and no mention of the roof being hazardous. DO NOT GET THIS INSURANCE UNLESS YOU WANT NOTHING BUT HEADACHES.

They are so bad. Ask your car insurance company who they work with before you bundle. If it is Homesite do not use. They raised my rate for no reason. When I had a claim (tree fell on my house) they fought me tooth and nail. They refused to pay. Eventually I needed a state agency to help settle the dispute. With my new rate increase I am going to file a complaint with the state and work to pressure Progressive (who has been fantastic) to not partner with them.

We recently had our roof replaced after having wind damage. We had a great experience with Homesite and had zero issues. Their estimate was appropriate and they paid for additional charges the roofer requested. They issued checks and returned calls promptly. We were expecting this to be a difficult process and we were pleasantly surprised how easy and stress free it was!

I wish I'd done (or, been able to do?) more homework prior to signing on with this company. I've had a fine experience with Geico auto insurance so decided to bundle for simplicity's sake. I didn't get a choice as to which underwriter my policy would be through. As others have mentioned, my policy was canceled less than a month into its effective date and communication was poor. I actually have to laugh at the absurdity of the reason - I have "dangerous" limbs overhanging my (new) roof. My 35 lb dog could chew them up if that tells you anything. Someone had already been out to address the tree per the inspector's casual recommendation prior to closing on the home. The information contained within the letter from Homesite was difficult to locate, honestly. I have a graduate degree and I think the level of writing would be too complex for many to successfully comprehend, which is bothersome. No helpful steps are outlined - it's just, hey, we've canceled your policy and here's how to contact the reporting bureaus! Customer Service is disengaged and unhelpful. All in all, I think I dodged a bullet and am glad to be escaping Homesite before finding myself in the position to need to post a claim. Beware.

Beware... check with your insurance company make sure they are not 3rd party company for your home insurance they will find away not to pay or make it seem like everybody out scamming. Had to give 1 star and that more than they deserve.. Spread the word stay away from these crooks.

I wish I could give no stars. I cancelled a month ago and am still waiting for a refund after their customer service refunded it to an old card that was closed. I am at a loss that it could take 30 days to cut a check? This is basic customer service kids. Get it together.

Waste of money. I placed a call to file a new claim, right after it said they were connecting me with a rep. I was hung up on. 3 more attempts, same thing. Cancelled. There eager to take your money, but see what you get when filing a claim!

The WORST home owners insurance company! They didn t cover anything. Our damages were estimated to be about $6000.00 and they wrote a check for $1500.00 (which covered the cost of their guys company out and doing some damage control to the water damage that happened). I am def changing my company. They looked at the by laws (since my house is a condo) and found some loop hole, so they wouldn t have to pay anything. The agent that came, was so fake. He made us feel comfortable and we thought we would be ok, until he figured out a way NOT to pay. Don t get suckered into getting them.

My experience with homesite is pretty much the same as most of the reviewers here. My home policy on a house I bought was cancelled because I had a chimney cap missing (which was under the contract to be fixed by the last home owner). But the company did not communicate or made me aware that the policy is now cancelled? Until I received a letter from the mortgage company that I have been without joke insurance for 2 months and need to get one ASAP!

Run Away, find someone else. Do your research!

Awful company. Went through them for my home insurance and they told me they were cancelling my coverage in 15 days for a couple of damaged asphalt shingles. I am getting the roofing repaired as soon as the winter is over but they did not even give me chance to get it fixed. Good prices but what a terrible company.

Had a Homeowners policy through Progressive, the policy is by Homesite. On my last recent renewal, they raised my premium by 32%. I called Progressive and inquired, they stated it was due to a state and county-wide audit and not a policy-specific issue. Went to several other major competitors for a quote and saved 63% (~$2,000) for the same exact coverages and deductibles. How can you expect to just slide-in a $1,000 premium increase on a renewal with no changes to coverage or deductibles? On top of that, your competitors are ~60% LOWER for the same exact coverages and deductibles at the same time. If I had not bothered to look into it and just paid the mortgage escrow difference, they'd be getting away with this.

Terrible service and underhanded dealings. We received word after closing on our home that our policy would be canceled in two weeks unless the entire roof was replaced. We spoke with customer service who suggested we write an e-mail asking for an extension with signed contracts for the work and we would hear back in 24 hours. A week later I'm told that they're system doesn't even upload e-mails for 24 hours which still doesn't explain why it wasn't unloaded 3 days after we sent it and still have no response. This is a terrible and untruthful company.

After a year of having insurance with this poc company, I was dropped for an inspection that showed my sons little John Deer tractor and go kart was beside one of my buildings. I had been working in the yard and had some rakes out and a rose climber I was installing, it started raining so I had to stop. An acre and a half away from my home I have a new storage building, well i guess you cant have a grill stored beside it, smh. The sun shining on my roof made 3 of my shingles show a little lighter so they said some were missing, I explained by the pic, you can obviously see that the shingles are there, the gravel look you can see and theres surely no black under paper or wood showing. Also, if I have shingles showing than I need to make a claim. The inspection prior they did, the roof was new! After I would turn in what they were complaining about that was fixed, they came up with more. Like, a tarp being over my chicken coop, that is a half acre away from my home. I offered to have them do another inspection, they denied, but they want me to have a copy of a receipt showing I paid for a "building contractor" not a roofer, to come out and inspect my roof showing that the shingles are there. My pics arent good enough, but they were weeks ago. Also, 1st when I called the lady said, "I dont see any shingles missing. I'm going to request for someone else to look at this". Then, the back of the house where they hangover, some were cut off. I showed they were not cut off, they were bent. Now, they show me a new pic with 3 different shingles that they see are missing, smh. It's been a headache and craziness. I've never had to deal with anyone like this before but I will be going back to Amica!

Worst Customer service I have ever dealt with. They can't find electronic payments, cancel policies with out notifying you, and are horrible people. they will not let you speak to any supervisors

Like so many other customers, I regret ever signing up for this policy. I had never actually needed to use my home / rental insurance policy in the past, so I signed up for this ultra cheap policy to be bundled with my car insurance.

As luck would have it, this is the one time that I actually *needed* to have a good insurance policy; my interstate move turned out to be with a disreputable moving company and many of my belongings were "lost" (I believe stolen) by the movers on the way.

The customer service I received from Homesite was abysmal -- at one point I spoke with a rep who insisted I didn't even have a policy with them (uh, yes, you charged my card and I had a policy number and paperwork in hand).

You've probably already guessed that they did nothing to help my losses and they actually closed my claim, even though I had the requisite police reports and everything lined up.

Anyhow, I hope that if you're considering getting this policy -- and, like me, never really thought much about home / rental insurance before -- you will take these comments to heart.

WORST INSURANCE COMPANY YOU COULD EVER DEAL WITH. I'M A ROOFING CONTRACTOR AND I'M ABSOLUTELY BAFFLED AT THE LACK OF CARE AND DISRESPECT. WORST EXPERIENCE MYSELF OR THIS HOMEOWNER HAS EVER HAD. THANK YOU PHILIP MARTIN FOR HANGING UP ON ME AND BEING A ABSOLUTE JERK. THIS COMPANY IS FRAUD

Its incredible how easily they'll find you after you move to send you a bill or how it easy it is to add coverage online but if you want to cancel your policy forget about any plans you've made bc the wait times are incredibly long. I've waited 45 mins for someone to answer but instead of getting someone on the other line they hung up! So heres to round two of waiting so i figured i'd leave a review during this time... Also Im not surprised about homesites google reviews, if its this low its usually a good indication to stay away.

I called "after hours" to report a claim and the lady I spoke with was VERY unengaging. Sounded like a robot and had a bad attitude. Most companies when you have a loss they at least PRETEND like they care. This woman said nothing like "I'm sorry for your loss" or anything. These days people just hire anybody whose willing to take the pay and hours. Hopefully the claims adjuster and the rest of my experience gets better.....

This company does not value customers time or state protocol! I filed a claim communication is HORRIBLE! The email process does not go to your adjuster it goes to a company email that has to be sent to your adjuster. My adjuster kept saying she had everything and then would say she needed something else a week later. She would only call me if I called her and little to no update on the process. Denied my claim on the last day over something I asked them to take off on week 2. I WILL NEVER USE this company again. Please use a real insurance company like Farmers or Liberty or Nationwide! This company will do nothing but call frustration!

I was immediately denied insurance because of my dog's breed. He is a well trained & loving crossbreed Rottweiler-coonhound, no signs aggression AT ALL! Agression is not in the breed, it's taught from people.
