Megan Brown Review of Homesite Insurance

I wish I'd done (or, been able to do?) more homework prior to signing on with this company. I've had a fine experience with Geico auto insurance so decided to bundle for simplicity's sake. I didn't get a choice as to which underwriter my policy would be through. As others have mentioned, my policy was canceled less than a month into its effective date and communication was poor. I actually have to laugh at the absurdity of the reason - I have "dangerous" limbs overhanging my (new) roof. My 35 lb dog could chew them up if that tells you anything. Someone had already been out to address the tree per the inspector's casual recommendation prior to closing on the home. The information contained within the letter from Homesite was difficult to locate, honestly. I have a graduate degree and I think the level of writing would be too complex for many to successfully comprehend, which is bothersome. No helpful steps are outlined - it's just, hey, we've canceled your policy and here's how to contact the reporting bureaus! Customer Service is disengaged and unhelpful. All in all, I think I dodged a bullet and am glad to be escaping Homesite before finding myself in the position to need to post a claim. Beware.
