Ugh, I would not recommend this company to anybody. I recently purchased my first home. The house had some older wiring, so most insurance companies wouldn't touch it. Weeks before closing, I was calling different insurance companies to get quotes and confirmation that they would cover the wiring. Everyone I talked to pointed me to Homesite as the only company they knew that would cover it. I called Homesite, and the customer service rep couldn't answer any of my questions. When I asked her specifically about the wiring, she just referred to the buttons she was clicking on the screen as she was asking me questions about the house. She had zero knowledge of what the policy actually would cover. Then, at the end of the call, she proceeded to give me a policy number and asked for the escrow information, which I did not provide. I was a bit astonished since I had mentioned several times that I was only looking for a quote. She told me not to worry, that I could always cancel the policy before closing and I wouldn't owe anything. I tried calling back later in the week to ask a couple of other questions, and spent at least an hour and a half on hold before giving up. I ended up getting the wiring replaced so that I could use the insurance company of my choice. Luckily it was easy to cancel the policy I never actually signed up for online, as the phone call to cancel was another hour on hold with no answer. Stay away! They weren't even the cheapest insurance company I talked to.
