Did some good service on my bike that came from there 30 years before. I would recommend this place.
Did some good service on my bike that came from there 30 years before. I would recommend this place.
Normally I have good experiences with Gregg's but the last couple of interactions have not been so good. I bought my mountain bike here last year, they didn't have my size, not that big of a deal nobody did. But Then when the bike was supposed to be delivered it was delayed and I had to keep calling back to find out what was going on. I totally understand that they don't control what the manufacturers do. Several months pass and the bike finally became available. On the plus they were very apologetic and helpful. And overall the experienced turned out great. I love my bike.
I called just recently to ask about dropper seatposts. I got someone in service and he tried to tell me that I needed to go do research on the internet and check the forums. The guy was not even listening to what I had to ask, he just talked. I was so turned off that he wasn't listening to me I told him it had been a terrible experience and I was disappointed. He didn't even know that I bought the bike there.
The service people probably need more training for how to deal with people.
I can obviously buy a dropper post online and install it myself but I wanted to talk to someone about the options for my frame and I am happy to have someone else do the work, as long as they are willing to help out. This kind of behavior is what pushes people to do their shopping online.
Pretty disappointed
Stopped by Greggs to get a repair estimate after my bicycle was damaged during shipping. Service center was very busy with a line outside but the staff was patient and throughout checking out my bike and helping me out.
Great bikes and there are people who will help you with anything you need to know about buying a bicycle.
Great to have a pleasant and well-stocked neighborhood bike store.
I haven't bought a bike from them (moved nearby fairly recently), but they've been good for tubes, tune-ups and the like. They even found some new helmet foam for me when my helmet had a piece fall off the Velcro.
Busy per usual. Nice staff tho. Just give yourself a little extra time if you need help.
I went into Gregg's this week in search of a new helmet. I was very pleased with the selection available and the customer service I experienced. The salesman who helped me was incredibly friendly and really went above and beyond to seek out the correct information about the helmets that I had questions about. His name was Zach. He was an excellent hire by the team at Gregg's and I recommend requesting him to work with you if you go in to the shop.
I walked out of Gregg's with the perfect helmet and I will definitely become a regular customer from here on out.
Charlatans and frauds. While their selection of bikes is great, their clothing selections are quite limited and they really don't have good options for decent road biking shoes. The real problem is the service department. The people out front are quite helpful and usually knowledgeable. The problems I have had are when I have left the bike to have it serviced. When I purchased the bike, I also spent $400 for a "Platinum" service plan which means the bike should be fixed within 48 hours if parts are available. They can almost never get anything done in this time period. The members of the service department appear to never communicate with each other so calling the service department is a reliably comedic experience. I have had this bicycle for almost 2 years now and regret purchasing from Gregg's but mostly I regret paying for the service plan. Addendum: I just had my annual tune up. My front derailleur needed replacement. They charged me $100 MORE than the MSRP for the part and I was able to find the part online for $180 less than what they charged me. But the receipt somehow says "You saved $250." What?! I emailed them to complain and rather than actually dealing with the issue they told me I was not allowed to "to make any future purchases here." Charlatan and frauds. A horrible service department and store. Another addendum to the above: 9 months later, the chain/derailleur was making a noise. I took it to Montlake Bicycle shop and found out that Gregg's had installed the chain backwards as well as the master link. More reason to avoid this bicycle shop and especially its service department.
This is not 1st time when this happens to me at this store, so it is possible it is my look/race or accent to blame. So after the new waiting in line, I came prepared with a list of stuff to get from store at about $300 worth in total. While stuff was looking for accesories for my bicycle, they changed/switched like 3 times. I could complain more but the main thing I am upset about happened at the end when I was ready to pay for all items, the person who was billing me and who mostly took care of my needs, for some reason decided I am not so important anymore as some other dude served by other stuff. They start talikng ignoring that I am waiting to pay, even after I let him know he still decided some other person is more important. This looks like racial motivated. I am truly dissapointed, because I liked this store. It seems the bigger the business becomes, the more it lacks in customer service.
Great store, Awesome staff (Morgan). Morgan gave us a patient walk-through of all the ebikes and more. Thanks
Really helpful and not pushy. A nice bike lane outside allows you to test the bikes comfortably.
Great shop. Kind people. They have everything from cool socks to high end bicycles.
great customer service and a very large inventory. prices are a bit high but they're service makes it worthwhile.
Went to Gregg's some years ago after many years of riding and seeing the store advertised. I was in the market for a seat, and thought that it would be a good opportunity to see what the store was like. Big mistake. I stood in the store for what seemed like forever. No one came by to help. I finally checked in at the service counter and was addressed in a snotty, arrogant tone. It was as though I was unworthy of their consideration.
I'm old enough to where I don't need to clean my plate. I don't need to be home by 10. And I sure don't need to put up with this kind of crap.
When you call the shop and you're stuck on hold, you have to listen to all these tiresome commercials about how wonderful Gregg's supposedly is. Makes it impossible to think or get work done. Too bad they don't show a little consideration for their customers and play soft music instead.
I bought my bike yesterday and I was pretty impressed with the selection, professionalism, etc.. I want to give a special shout out to Andrew who went out of the way to walk couple of blocks to where I had parked my car to set up the bike rack. I will definitely recommend to my friends.
Super helpful staff, tons of selection of bikes, gear, etc. A little pricey but worth it!
Don't pay attention to the negative reviews! Amazing shop. All the mechanics are very helpful and considerate. Check out the sales floor when you stop in; tons of new and top of the line bikes!
I am a new customer to Greg's, and already I know that their customer service is exceptional.
I just stopped by for a check up on my site is which I had purchased not too long ago. Fritz the man was awesome! Totally helped me out in every way. I would definitely recommend going to Greg's cycle!
Hey to all you folks at GGC, sure do appreciate the bike I just received. It originally came from your store.
I am stuck in Stockton,CA and was in dire need. It came through a program with the local churches and now I have some wheels.
Again, thanks to everybody involved.

Nice location near green lake. Plenty of parking at the shopping center. They have a lot of selections for bikes, jerseys, helmets etc. Staff is helpful.
My wife just bought me a shiny new Specialized Carbon Fiber bike for my birthday from Gregg's Greenlake. I went there a couple of times to test various bikes to see what I had liked and each time the service was great, even when they were really busy. Great staff, good selection of bikes and equipment, and just an overall great experience. I'd totally recommend Gregg's to others.
Worst customer service I have encountered so far. Would definitely recommend the trip to Speedy Reedy or Recycled Cycles to save the hassle. My two encounters were:
-I was looking into used bikes and asked if Gregg's would take a look at one before I bought it. The response I got from the person on the phone was that "Their job is to sell bikes." Great way to build a business. Two other bike shops both looked at bikes for me without charging.
-After caving and going to Gregg's for a tune-up, they asked if they could charge me for a new chain, and I told them that I own one. When I asked them to put it on because I didn't have a chain tool, they said it was a $15 service fee, not covered by the full tune-up that I was about to pay for.
If you want to go a chain bicycle shop without customer service, go to Gregg's. If not, check out Speedy Reedy or Recycled Cycles, and go to a shop that actually cares about its customers.
Super helpful in dealing with a warrantee claim with Trek. This shop is awesome.
There are SOME helpful people here, but ultimately I have had bad experiences. Like when they adjusted my brakes, didnt attach the the tire properly, and it fell off when I carried my bike downstairs that day. Or when i got a tube changed, and the tire immediately went flat on my ride home. The servicer tried to explain how his was somehow my fault, because my tire was dirty, or because i moved the tube trying to patch it before coming in...yadda yadda. Im through with this place. Again, some nice folks, but mostly incompentent people with little to no social grace. Bleh. Go to JRA by Freddies.
I'm always impressed by each employee's excitement and enthusiasm about their job. The servicing is exceptional with great attention to detail. I purchase about 75% of my biking items from here primarily due to their customer service. I feel that it is important that support these establishments and keep high quality service around.
Keep it up Gregg's!
Went in knowing which bike we wanted. We were rushed out and told we didn t need anything else and that we could find better deals on eBay if you re on a budget . Left without a helmet, a water bottle, holder, lock, gear, anything. Totally unready for a first ride because we weren t worth their time. Service on the bike has been slow and they don t seem to know what s going on when we call. Extremely disappointed in the treatment from this place since it s a Seattle staple and we bought an expensive bike (they don t have any cheap ones). We are just getting into cycling and would have been lifelong customers. Shame this place is only interested in you if you look like a stereotypical cyclist.
Morris was so helpful! We purchased my first bike as an adult here and so I had a lot of questions. The process was easy and I m so excited to pick up my new bike.
Super helpful staff, well organized, COVID compliant, and found what we wanted at very reasonable prices.
Great service and overall knowledge of bike and ebikes
Exceeded my expectations. Great guys. Thanks for being awesome at what you do! :)
This is the type of place that gives bike shops a bad name. They treat you like a number, have the worst mechanics and never actually fix your problem. I was a glutton for pain and sadly gave them my business for years because there weren t any other options for Trek bikes near me. NO MORE. I will gladly drive elsewhere and spend my hard-earned money with more appreciative shops that actually value their customers. I had a faulty bike rim sold to me by Greggs and despite coming in week after week (after getting stranded due to flats) they choose to ignore the facts and instead of warrantying the Rim like a decent business would do, they replace the tube and leave me to go get stuck on the road again. Don t be fooled, consider yourself warned. Never again.
Had and unfortunate experience at Gregg's Cycles. I went in for a repair and they were patronizing. In addition, Aaron - a mechanic, did not believe that I was an avid rider, installed the incorrect type of break-pad onto my bike, and told me I needed to buy a more expensive bike. When I tried to call multiple times for a refund they did not pick up. Definitely not going back there, and I do not suggest that other femme's go to this store for repairs.
Terrible. Arrogant, know it all, fixie hipsters abound. The first thing the guy said was "how much are you looking to spend, it's going to be at least a couple hundred bucks to fix this thing." False, unless it's that much for a generic 1988 mountain bike rear wheel and a truing of the front wheel. They've now had the bike for a week and it still isn't done. They hung up on me the first time I called and transferred me to the wrong department the second time where the guy had the nerve to talk down to me for reaching the wrong department. For every 1 good employee there are 5 others who have an elementary school attitude and the fashion sense to go with it. I agree with other users, go get fitted there but buy somewhere else. These guys are too arrogant. I'd rather have the Jimmy Johns bicycle delivery guys working on my bike.
Gregg's Greenlake Cycle is a great place to buy a bicycle. I bought my 2012 Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disk from the in late 2011. I had to special order the specific model I wanted but what impressed me about Gregg's is how much stuff they have in stock. It makes it fairly easy to look at and try out stuff at the store. I knew that I wanted to custom build the bike for world touring and Gregg's made it easy for me to start that process and pick the bike that was best for me. At this point (2018) I am half way around the world and the bike is sitting next to my desk. We have now ridden in North America, South East Asia and Northern Europe and the bike is running better than ever, I think mainly because of the great start I got at Gregg's Greenlake Cycle.
Has everything! Equipment, clothes, repairs and bikes for sale. Knowledgeable staff.
Service is extremely slow and unfriendly. Went for a tune up and it took one hour of waiting to assess the state of the bike, after finding that a component holding the pedals was about to break, they suggested a gold tune up (which is more expensive than the bike itself) and to keep the bike for 3 weeks. Since it s my only mode of transportation, I had to schedule a time-up appointment in 3 weeks, leave a deposit, and go back with my bike still broken. Today I came back for the appointment and waited for another 40 minutes to just leave the bike.
Classic Seattle bike shop with the best selection of apparel, gear, and parts for people who still like to buy stuff in person and keep their money local. Staff is friendly, helpful, and unpretentious. I use my neighborhood LBS for maintenance, repairs, and upgrades, but it's worth a trip across town to pick up a new rain jacket or cycling shoes.
Each time I've been to Gregg's I've received courteous, prompt and excellent service from the Service n Repair Dept. On 09/03 I was in line at register waiting to check in for repairs when a Tech overlooked me and asked another customer in. Though the wait was longer this seemed to have worked out. The next Tech went above n beyond n checking my bike out for problems. He was knowledgeable, polite and problem solved a handle bar issue on the bike. Don't know the Tech's name but he's not the tall one or female . Very happy.
My girlfriend and I visited Gregg's Cycles to find what would be her first bicycle in over 15 years. We needed a guide that would help us get back into cycling and show us what to look for in an introductory bike.
Tony filled that role, with both patience and knowledge. After identifying the type of biking we would do (Burke Gilman trail biking, etc), he presented a few options that had a couple distinctions between them. Tony presented many concepts about biking in a way that was easy to understand as newcomers.
I went to Gregg's because it is the closest Specialized dealer and I needed a specific bearing ordered from them. Weeks came and went and each week I called, begging for information, only to be told they don't know where the part is and hopefully it'll arrive the next.
The third week I call at the end of the day and they tell me it came that day. Could they not have given me a call to let me know? I go down IMMEDIATELY to get the part and it takes them 10 minutes to even find it. I pay, and ask if they'll push the bearing cups in.
"we don't have time"
You don't have the 5 minutes it takes to press the cups into the frame? Awesome.
I will never work with Gregg's again. I will drive whatever distance to any other Specialized dealer.
2 stars for a couple of the mechanics being cool guys.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff who easily transition between helping beginners and experienced cyclists
I would like to knowledge Hagen & Hunter for there customer service and knowledge of the products and made my visit great as for my first time in the store . I would like you to recognize Hagen . He was very nice and pleasant give me options. What the right shoes to choose and the and cleats as for easy to demount the bike faster . I would say the same for Hunter which assist Hagen with my transaction. Please let them know that I was happy with there customer service and knowledge of there products. I will continue to shop in your store.
Hagen & Hunter Thank you!
I was disappointed with the service. I purchased new pedals and had the mechanic adjust the brakes and shifting to make sure it was usable. My son reports that the shifting is inconsistent and the brake modulation is not great.
It was my fault for not test riding the bike after the adjustments were made, but I was in a hurry to get back downtown on another errand. Since I'm not local to Seattle, I can't really resolve this with the shop.
Great local bike shop with friendly knowledgeable staff and seeminly below MAP pricing!
I have been in here many times and the service staff are very talented and have helped maintain my primary bike, and the sales staff have been helpful and accommodating with out of warranty issues which were entirely my fault. They have a great selection of new bikes and I would recommend anyone to check out what they have.
The selection is great and the staff is very friendly.
Staff supported me to choice the cyclocross bike and accessary. I have brought the bike to Japan and enjoy the cycling.
Ordered some tubes online. Was under the impression that they were a stock item. Nope. They had to order them, get them, and then send them to me. I got them 2 weeks later. Plus, they shipped via UPS when USPS would have sufficed. Slow. Just use your local bike shop, or just about anyone else.
Gregg's Cycle more like Gank Yo Cycle. The seemingly knowledgeable staff spewed misinformation. The result of Gank Yo Cycle's poor recommendation is costing me $145. Not to worry, I will not be relying on Gank Yo Cycle's expert staff anymore.
very unhelpful patronizing attitude, we had to explain what kind of bike we had in mind but the guy stopping us by the door paid no attention at all, and we couldn't get pass to look at any of the bikes.
Came in looking for a new bike and after couple of hours of test riding, Jake helped me narrow it down to two awesome contenders. I had to take a day to mull it over and came away with a rad bike the next day. Highly recommend the store with great selection and knowledgeable staff!
Brought my bike in to get an old rusty FUBAR shifter off, and bought a helmet that fits! Will update when I get the bike back as it needs some TLC and C4.
Nice people, very helpful! Reasonable prices and service plans for the bikes are good value if you use them. We bought a balance bike for 2 year old daughter. Also bought a cyclocross hybrid bike here recently.
I want to thank Will for the great help he gave me when I bought a bike. He was patient and knowledgeable. While he was getting my new bike set up other people in the store made sure I could get help if I asked and they were not overbearing. I also liked the choices I had for accessories. Some shops have limited stock. I had a great experience. Only downside is parking. Once I got to the store I saw a sign that suggested another place, perhaps put that on your website?
Great customer service! I'm not necessarily a new biker but it's been several years since I've owned one. Also, this is the the first time I've had to consider the needs of someone commuting in the city (Seattle). I came in looking for a new commuter type bike and was helped immediately. Bri talked me through some options and price points and helped me pick out something perfect for my needs and budget. Aidan helped me find some obligatory add-ons (helmet, lock, light etc). And Dylan assisted me in making the purchase. He also facilitated the installation of my extras and setup of the bike with their techs. Overall a wonderful experience and I am a very happy customer!!
The staff were nice i don't know what the negative feedback is about.
One of the best bike stores in the US. Great service and selection of bikes and clothing. Staff is very knowledgeable. Great place to bike nearby.
Possibly the best selection in stock. Prices are reasonable when compared to other local shops.
We sent a customer to them for some repair work as they were a partner of ours. The manager publicly yelled at our customer and told her to get out of the store. When I called to intervene he hung up on us. They are no longer a partner of ours.
Great service, tons of product, knowledgeable staff. High prices? Is retail high? Yes, you can buy cheaper bikes, but if they roll out of a bike shop, they should be serviceable from that bike shop, meaning NOT "throw-away" bikes. Pay out a little more upfront and get something that will last is my advice. This is the store to use!
I was just here today interested in buying a road bike. I talked to an employee at the front of the store about what I was interested in and she pointed me to the back room where the road bikes were located. There wasn't a single employee in the road bike room and no one came back there as I walked around for 20 or more minutes. I would have liked to buy a bike today, but no one at Gregg's wanted to even try to sell me anything.
Also, they weren't even busy. When I finally got fed up and walked back out the door, I passed two employees who appeared to be chatting casually and they said nothing to me as I left empty handed.
I have been going here since I was a kid, growing up in the neighborhood. For several decades it has been a fantastic bicycle toy store, with bikes, accessories and a friendly staff to explain it all. I am always looking for an excuse to go back.
Great service. New road bike buyer and they had two salespeople helping me. Very patient and helpful. More expensive than some online retailers but very competitive. Totally worth it for the service in my opinion.
Sent in my bike to check on noise that appeared to be related to peddling. Picked it up and rode a century with the noise persisted. Sent in again and was told the chain needed to be replaced but the cassette was ok. Then was told over the phone that they could not find out the source of the noise after replacing the chain and bottom bracket. Needed the bike and took it back. They didn't charge for the labor. But the bike was in a worse condition: chain skipped and wouldn't go to the highest gear on the back even the shift is electronic. Didn't dare to send it back again and had to choose a different shop. The staff was always friendly and willing to help. But I was very disappointed that less than two weeks before STP my bike was not in a good condition.
I agree this group of mechanics is the friendliest and most helpful around. Needed a quick shifting-skip diagnosis this evening, and was prepared to "need" a tune-up, and instead, after 5 minutes of conversation, a little cable-tensioning, and cleaning and lubing the chain, I'm off and riding again - thanks guys! No wonder I return and buy parts all the time....
When I lived close by I would bring my bike there for maintenance. They always took care of my bicycle and were very quick with their turn around.
I typically am a DIY sort of person, but every once in a while I have trouble finding the time to get something done on my mountain bike (tubeless this time). I've taken a few things here and each time they have been prompt, offered good advice, and have gone above and beyond a few times.
I don't expect the last bit every time I come in, but I do feel that in general they do care and provide solid service.
Most helpful bike shop in town. They are often busy because of their good reputation and location. If you come in on a nice weekend day you may have to wait, but you can trust you will find an excellent product or that your bike problem will be solved. I recommend coming in Wednesday or Thursday midday. I am usually coming in with two small children and the staff are friendly to them as well, treating them like people and the experience is pleasant for all of us. This store always has a lot of skilled employees on hand which tells me the owners are certainly customer-minded. I have also been helped free of charge for small fixes often and I've been offered odds and ends from the shop to fix a problem economically. This means a lot to me as a regular customer. Being given a free part, even a small one that just happens to solve my problem, is what keeps me coming back to purchase the big ticket items here when they come up. --(And, we are very happy with our new bikes and the new narrower trailer model from Burley, the Minnow!)
I've had an ongoing issue with a bike I purchased, and the staff at Gregg's have worked very hard and been extremely diligent in their efforts to resolve it and make things right. The problem is with a manufacturing design flaw, nothing caused by Gregg's
I've bought a few other bikes from them and had no previous trouble, but it's good to have trust that the after-sale support will be there if something does come up
I needed some spokes for a wheel that I ordered the wrong length spokes for. Justin helped me recalculate the proper spoke length but came up with the same answer I did. When I found out I was using the wrong ERD, I returned to get new spokes. They didn't have enough spokes to string a whole wheel, so I asked Alarin to cut my old spokes to length and he did so free of charge. They work great on my newly restrung wheel. I will be replacing them with new spokes soon though. These folks are proficient, offer the appropriate amount of help, and are pleasant to work with.
The staff is cool and knowledgeable. Took my bike in to have my brakes installed and adjusted and have the bars wrapped. The job was done really well and I am happy with the service. The downfall is the prices are a little high. Yet, I'll pay a small premium for the service and convenience near home. Ive been back two times since for purchases and the team there is happy to help and recommend things that I am looking for on my bike.
Bike heaven. I just needed to grab a new helmet and some gels but ended up staying for an hour talking with their knowledgable and helpful staff. And if you're looking for Specialized bikes and gear I think they've got you covered.
Staff was extremely knowledgeable and helped me get the right bike for my needs
I've had to come here on many occasions because for the longest time, it was the only place to go when we were riding the dirt jumps at lower woodland park and needed something. I would highly recommend, if you can, going somewhere else. Evo isn't too much farther now, still not the best shop around but miles ahead of Greggs Greenlake.
I will add however, Greggs lynnwood is fine, never had a problem with those guys.
All I asked for was a call back on some parts I wanted to see if they could order to perform a repair on my suspension - three friggin times. This shop was better when it was smaller. Go support your local bike shop.
Super helpful and friendly. Needed quick tune up and new cleats - done in less than 30 minutes!
Jake was so patient in helping my 12,14 old & myself find some new wheels!!!
Outrageous prices and poor customer service. Was not acknowledged once. Ignored due to bmx bike i had.
Great place to shop for e bikes, Also, employees are very knowledgeable about e bikes.
I got a bike from the Greenlake store after a few test rides. Adrian was helping us to choose a bike and the accessories. He was super helpful, friendly and funny, selling the stuff but not in a pushy way. Everyone in the store was very helpful. Thank you for such great service! Would definitely come back if anything else is needed for my new bike!
I bought some bike accessories and had a tune up. Friendly staff.
Prices are a bit high but they're service makes it worthwhile at Gregg's Greenlake Cycle.
Tim, the sales associate, was exactly what I was looking for, someone who was knowledgeable and spoke from personal experience, not as an upsell. I was very impressed by the overall service, especially since the store was incredibly busy. Not only did I purchase a great Trek bike but I will be taking it to Gregg's for all my service needs! Great deal with service package add on since it apply's to all 3 Seattle Gregg's locations!
Really bad service. I was in town after racing nationals in Oregon, and needed some help fixing something that broke during the race. Most of the staff talked to me like I was 12, and then argued with me in regard to what was wrong with the bike. First and last trip to this shop, I now live in Seattle and pay to have my girlfriends bike worked on rather than use the service that was included with purchasing her bike there.
A few weeks ago I had a very bad day when I realized my bike frame was cracked! I ride a trek I had bought in another state so gregg's greenlake was the closest authorized dealer to go through the warranty process with, and I am very lucky they were! Stephen walked me through all my options while dealing with Trek and even got me a bigger size frame that would fit me better (which I've noticed a huge difference with). The frame came in and they had the new bike assembled even faster than they estimated which I appreciated. When I went to pick up the bike, one of the service guys (I think Jules was his name but I'm not sure), spent a good amount of time with me helping to find a new spot for my lock because it sat differently on the new frame. This is such a small detail but he really put the effort into helping me find a new configuration. I did have some issues with my rear brake after they were installed on the new frame so a week later I brought them in to have a look, and even though they were very understaffed, the service manager and Oliver, and Stephen (again, sorry if i'm forgetting names) made it a priority to make sure they worked properly, bleeding them several times, making adjustments, and eventually replacing them for me, spending 4+ hours during a very busy time for them to make sure it got done. It is riding great, and I could not be happier with the service I received. You can 100% trust this team with your bike and know that they really care about it. A++++
