Great experience at Greenlake. Walked in on a Saturday morning, and made my way to the back where I knew the road bikes were. I was greeted 3 times before I got there. Khris helped me out, set me up with a test ride very quickly. He knew all about the bikes I was interested in. After the first ride, I asked to ride another, and he obliged no problem.

In the end I didn't buy the bike, but there was no pressure from Khris. I talked with him about what I liked and didn't like. We talked through some options. All in all, a really good bike shopping experience. I will go back.

I first visited Gregg's in Green Lake for some service help, and was disappointed. The staff came off aloof, abrupt, and tired. I then visited another Gregg's for some mechanical help, hoping for a better experience, and found the same sort of manner from the staff.
I was quite pleased to find complete opposite treatment from their sales staff. In looking for a new bike, each staff member made themselves very available. They didn't try to oversell me, and they provided me with relevant, accurate information. But it was Erik who finally helped me to make a bike purchase. He worked hard to help me find the best bike, reserving some for me and having some built that weren't on the floor yet. He used tape measures on various bikes trying to understand my comments after test rides and direct me to what I liked best. When I was finally ready to make my purchase, Erik was pulled away for another customer, and Kat did a great job finishing up the purchase. She answered my questions, and was friendly and energetic, and had the best manicure of all the staff! :) I'm glad I took the time finding my new bike. After 2 weeks of commuting, I am glad to say I got the right one!

Gregg's is my go to for professional service and friendly attention. I've never had a bad experience with them. I came in needing a new bike after a theft, and Tony took excellent care of me. His knowledge and expertise were just what I needed to get over the frustration of having my ride stolen. He gave me excellent attention and helped pick out a great bike for my budget and needs.
Gregg's, and particularly Tony D. get five stars and a hearty recommendation.

Been going to this shop off and on over the years. I've always had great success even the times where I just walk in with minor issues to fix without an appointment. A couple of years ago I started to have serious knee pain after buying a new pair of shoes and decided to get a complete bike fitting. Nate was great and the fit was totally worth it knee pains never came back.

Understaffed and Understocked. I entered the store twice to purchase a bike and each time I was not helped by a sales person after a fifteen minute period of standing next to a bike I was interested in.

Service was poor and they were very rude with me because I wanted to get a quote on tuning a bike they don't feel is worthy enough (a Giant Cypress, a very common low-end bike). Despite living close by, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

I began my bike search in May 2012, and after 7 months I bought the Specialized FSR Comp 29er. Andrew spent many hours over many visits educating me on the various styles of riding and what would work best for me and my goals. I cannot stress how friendly and knowledgeable Andrew was during the entire process. And when Andrew was not working the day I visited, Robert, Leif, and Collin were equally knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions. Never did I feel pressured to buy or unwelcome. I am thrilled with my purchase and the after-purchase support Gregg's has given me. Andrew helped me setup the suspension on my new purchase and now the bike is perfectly dialed in. For the price there is no better value in Seattle! These guys are the pinnacle of customer service!

I wanted to buy a new bike for my husband's birthday. I went into the store and nobody came to help during the 20 minutes I was there. I'm pretty sure that a couple of sales guys saw me but they were busy talking to each other. Certainly I could have just asked for help/info but it was clear they had other priorities at that moment.

Lauren was so helpful and patient when I went to buy a bike pump today. She even helped demonstrate how to use the pump on the kind of valve I have. Great customer service at Gregg's, thank you!

I have been to Gregg's Greenlake Cycle many, many times over the years, beginning in the early 1970s when I purchased my first bike there so I could commute to the UW for classes. Over the last couple of years I have purchased a lot of equipment through Gregg's, including a Specialized Tricross and a Specialized Roubaix as I added biking to my running regimen. I have found the customer service throughout to be splendid, including knowledgeable and responsive staff. And I've especially appreciated the occasions when I would drop by unannounced in need of an adjustment or advice, and staff would devote 10 or 15 minutes of their time helping me, often at no cost.

This is my experience, based on four decades of visits to Gregg's Greenlake Cycle.

Love Gregg's cycle. I think the Green lake location is the best. Everyone is super helpful and friendly. Josh was awesome pumping up our tires and straightening out the valve on the tire.
He also helped us with a lot of our questions.

I went in today to buy a new road bike. The staff (Ray and Jake) were SUPER knowledgeable and patient. I took a couple of bikes out for a test ride and then spent a significant amount of time picking their brain and learning about bikes, wheels, trainers, etc. I really appreciated their patience and not feeling rushed or pressured.

Great place to buy and get your bike serviced. I went in today to get my bike that I bought from Greggs a year ago tuned up and was amazed that the salesman who sold it to me remembered who I was. The service member who looked at my bike noted that I have taken great care of my bike and only charged me for the services that were nessesary when I had originally come in for a more expensive service. Overall an amazing place!

I used to be a very loyal customer at Gregg s. I b...

I used to be a very loyal customer at Gregg s. I bought an e-bike online and they helped me add extras like a pannier rack, etc. I had various repairs which they performed without any issues. However, I recently had both my tires go flat. I use my bike to commute so I needed a repair ASAP. I brought my bike to Gregg s like usual, but this time they said the only way they would fix my bike is by paying a $50 up-charge for an e-bike. This is because the e-bike is heavy to lift onto the repair rack. I m certain there are ways to lift a heavy bike that don t require employees to risk injuring themselves. Gregg s Cycle needs to invest in these tools for the sake of their employees. Charging extra money for repair of an e-bike is essentially discouraging people from buying e-bikes (even though Gregg s cycle actively sells e-bikes at their shop). E-bikes help remove cars from the roads, decrease congestion and pollution, and fight climate change. Discouraging customers from commuting to work each day on an e-bike would be absurd, so why charge more to repair those e-bikes? I recommend everyone else to shop/seek repairs elsewhere to send a message to Gregg s Cycle that discouraging e-bike repairs is no longer acceptable.

Very Disappointed about their policy and services, I got to purchase the bike before I could even try on it, as the seatpost is too high for me and I got to pay full credit for the bike so that they will cut the seatpost for me and after I take the bike home and realized that the bike doesn't fit, I could not reach the shifters on the handlebar and I bring it back to them 4 days later to cut off 2 inch on the handle bar and they charge me $55 for that, $10 for new cable and $40 for labour, I am okay with the charges on the cables but not the labour, I owned 4 bikes from other stores in Seattle area and this is the worst experience I have ever had. Please do not go to that store if you are looking for a new bike, I would suggest you to go to Center Cycle or Trek Store near your area for better experience. I would never go to the store again !!!

Bought my bike there, spent a fair amount of money on gear there in the last couple years ... and the sale staff are super friendly even tho they ofter have limited stock. However the Service dept is very hit or miss. Occasionally you get a helpful guy but often you get sour faced, grumpiness. I really want a good relationship with a local bike shop but I think I probably have to start trying other local bikes shops if I want to find that.

I am shocked to read all the negative reviews of Gregg's posted here. I don't know if they went to a different one of their stores, but every time I've gone in there to look at bikes, buy bikes, or get repairs (probably about 20x), I've always left happy and wishing that other bike stores were as knowledgeable, friendly, and accessible as Gregg's.

For example, I went to Recycled Cycles ysterday and had to wait over 10 minutes to talk to someone, and that was with me actively trying to find someone to help. I had to wait even longer at REI. At Gregg's today, within 30 seconds of walking in, someone asked if I wanted help. They're the best bike shop I've been to in Seattle (of the 15 or so I've visited).

They over charged me on the initial purchase of the bike and from there things went downhill. When I can back to pick up the bike they didn't have half of the accessories I had ordered. They told me I could make an appointment to have the accessories installed when they arrived. When I tried to make the appointment I was told they Do NOT make appointments for installing accessories - its on a first come first serve basis.
Was not impressed with the service.

Great bike shop. Repair team works hard to get things right. Jules and Chuck and the rest of the staff offer great service. Had an annoying noise in my rear wheel of my new road bike that was systematically inspected and solved! Highly knowledgable and friendly people at this neighborhood business.

I really tried to support this bike shop but unfor...

I really tried to support this bike shop but unfortunately I can't recommend it any longer. There seems to be serious internal issues in the service department. So far they've struggled with simple jobs, botched bigger jobs, lost my orders, and charged WAY more than quoted. Find a different shop.

Most recently, I figured I'd support my local shop and asked them to order new shock hardware for me instead of saving money and ordering online for cheaper. After a week and a half of no news, I walked in and asked what was going on. They had apparently received my order, forgot to have someone call me, then lost the order somewhere. No big deal, things happen. They ordered everything again.

A week later my replacement order comes in and I drop my bike off to have the new shock and bushings installed. A simple job that I'd be happy to do myself if they handed me the wrench. Remove two bolts, drop the new shock in, replace the two bolts. They say it'll probably either be free or $25, the minimum labor cost. The quote says they'll call if it's over $0.00.

The next day, my bike is ready! The bill: $75. They say it took 45 minutes of labor to remove and replace two bolts. No one called me to advise me of any troubles. Apparently the quote we both signed meant nothing. The mechanic was very rude and blamed me for not explicitly asking for a second note to be added for the maximum job cost. I'm very worried they did something wrong or broke something if it took them that long. Youtube videos show people doing the job in 2-3 minutes. I called around to other shops and they all confirmed replacing a shock is something they could do in a couple minutes while I waited.

I had very similar issues when I brought my bike in for the highest level service: their "Platinum MTB Tune." After the service I picked up my bike, took it to the mountains, and realized it didn't shift correctly anymore. I brought it back, they said they'd make things right.

Ages later, I walked in to see what's up. They had lost my contact info and didn't know who to call to pick up the bike. It turns out the original mechanic had installed the wrong type of shift cable for my drivetrain. For the amount they charge for jobs like this, mistakes piled on mistakes is unacceptable.

Don't come here if you aren't willing to deal with issues. I've given them so many chances but sadly I have to find a new shop.

Gregg's has been my favorite shop in Seattle for some time and they keep impressing. Recently I had a warranty issue on a bike I purchased there in 2016 and Steven in their service shop deftly handled the problem and went out of his way to present me with a number of options. They are the only place I recommend to my friends/family

I was very disappointed with the service I receive...

I was very disappointed with the service I received at the store. I have not biked in a long time (about 15 years) and was really excited to come in and purchased a new bike. I came in with an idea of what I wanted, an affordable hybrid bike, similar to the one I used to have that served me well for years and lots of miles. Prior to coming in, I looked online and saw bikes similar to the one I had previously starting around $399. The website shows stock availability and it showed they were in stock. When I got to the store I realized that in stock didn t mean at both locations. I understand that the bike I wanted was likely in stock in Bellevue and not Greenlake. The closest comparable bike was around $500. When I first got in, a very nice new guy (sorry I don t remember his name but had a tag that said he was new) was helping me but didn t know what was in stock. At this point someone else started to help and this is where my experience went downhill, fast. I had a budget in mind when coming in (accounting for a bike, helmet and water bottle) and when I realized the bike I wanted wasn t in stock I decided to add to my budget. However, the sales guy was pressuring me into getting a bike at double my initial budget. I do not ride often as my primary physical activity is marathon running and I only wanted a bike to use for cross training. When I asked for the difference between the two bikes the only major difference was weight and number of gears. For my needs this didn t seem like a big enough of a difference for me to double my budget. I almost felt like I was being bullied into a more expensive bike and when I purchased the less expensive one, felt judged. The gentleman helping me wasn t listening to my concerns. I ultimately purchased a bike because I was keen to get out and ride. After leaving however, I honestly regret purchasing my bike. I do not recommend purchasing a bike from Gregg s Cycle to a friend, nor will I be making any purchases from here in the future. Adding insult to injury, the bike seat height was not fitted correctly and is too low, so I will now have to go to another bike shop in order to get tools to fix it myself.

Wow. I have to agree with some of the more recent reviews claiming the store associates treat their customers like a number. It s true and even worse than that.

I used to love the customer service here, but that s changed. Both over the phone and in person - store associates are pretentious, selfish, rude, and down right condescending!!

The one store associate that helped me was so afraid to even let me use his multi-tool to quickly install a water cage on a hot day. Kept giving me weird looks like I was some sort of criminal (profiling). Like, I m not going to steal your tool dude... He only let me use it after he realized there were no more tools left to sell me... smh.

I know, everyone is on edge from COVID-19, but when you re already only letting a few customers into the shop, I d expect better isolated customer service. Nope.

Even over the phone I got a sarcastic and condescending good luck with that instead of some actual useful advice.

I do not feel welcome here anymore. And I do not exaggerate when I say I felt more than unwelcome. I felt hatred towards me and other paying customers.

It genuinely saddens me to write such and awful review towards a business that I once greatly respected and appreciated.

I just hope there is enough feedback to strike change in this shop. It is time to retrain your employees on how to treat customers, or higher new ones ASAP!

Make the trip to Bike Gallery in Portland OR, if you can. MUCH better experience. Worth the drive.

I've visited a (bakers) dozen local bike shops in the past few weeks looking for a new MTB. These folks are the best. They let me pick their brain (for information, not lunch) for an hour, were incredibly attentive, and gave me honest advise (which I knew was correct). This is the best shop in the Seattle area, hands down. Although the employees are clearly gear-heads, they deliver information in a non-condescending tone. To the folks with gripes: I blame your parents.

Great service! Came in looking for a helmet. Rob helped me find the best fit for me, and when it wasn t available in their store, pointed me to a different vendor (and gave advice about getting it from them) so that I could get the best helmet for me instead of just trying to sell me something from their store for the profit. Very helpful & was attentive to my price range! Will definitely go back for future needs!

We bought 2 bikes here. My son fell and bent his front brake and part of the shifting mechanism. I brought the bike in and they started working on it right away. 15 min. later I walked out with the bike repaired. Service always speaks loudest for me. I really appreciate how they take care of us and will keep coming back to them.

So, let me start by saying I m a middle aged dad o...

So, let me start by saying I m a middle aged dad of two young kids. I needed a bike to rally around with the fam on and my road bike was just too much bike. So that put me in the position to pony up for a new do everything bike or bust out my old 1997 Schwinn Homegrown hard tail (that was purchased from Aurora Cycle new in 97). As most of you know the pickins for a new bike are slim to none during these days of pandemic. So I decided to bust out the ol Schwinn. BUT I couldn t ride it as is cause not only was it out dated it took at least 15 years of hard Mt riding abuse. So now I was on a mission to find someplace or someone who was willing to help me dial it in. I went to about 5-6 different bike shops around the city (all were less than helpful, able, or willing), until I ran into Travis at Greggs in Lynnwood. This guy s a gem!! He not only was willing to take on the task, he spent the extra time to help me find replacement parts, even if I couldn t buy them from him. And an added bonus, he actually seemed genuinely excited about the idea of reviving my classic bike. So I left on a mission to gather parts and bring them back to him to install. Two weeks later I had the parts, called him, and was in the next day. A couple days later I had my bike back with a Gold Tune, new front end and pedals, and I was as good as new!! He took the time to make sure everything was dialed in to my (updated dad) body geometry and to my satisfaction and sent away a very happy customer. I took the bike on a nice 15 mile ride with my daughter today and liked it as much as if not more than the day I bought it. All in all I spent a bit more than I would have for a cheaper brand new bike of like kind (with better components) but the experience and the results were well worth the extra money.

Cats like Travis are hard to find these day, so if you re ever in need of a bike repair I would highly recommend checking in with him, and the rest of the staff at Greggs. Everyone there was very much customer service oriented and really friendly.
