5 STARS! Noah, our technician had one helluva task to complete due to a major leak in our a/c unit. With temps into the 90's (and abt 100% humidity) Noah remained professional & attentive and made magic happen.
Don't question this first class operation (Genz-Ryan). We are more than pleased from start to finish (even came with shoe-booties!).

If anyone is even slightly considering buying a ho...

If anyone is even slightly considering buying a home with Cal Atlantic (formerly Ryland), I am warning you now - the warranty on these homes is an absolute joke. The warranty for the plumbing by Genz-Ryan only lasts two years but right after the two year mark is when issues started to occur. We had our first pipe leak 6 months after the warranty expired and now we have another leak! Since all these issues are after warranty we are the ones stuck with the bill. Genz-Ryan fixed our first leak, charging us $500 and they were here less than an hour! I personally think they use cheap parts and know that after two years issues will occur. We aren t the only ones in our neighborhood with issues. Our neighbors just a few months ago (before their two year warranty) had a leak behind the refrigerator that resulted in the entire kitchen floor being replaced. We are EXTREMELY disappointed with the quality of our home and the type of work Genz-Ryan did/does. Honestly, we are afraid of what could happen next and fear that we may have the same fate of our neighbors! Extend your warranty if you feel like you do quality work. Thumbs down for both Ryland and Genz Ryan.

Tyler came the same day we called (on a 95 degree, so I m sure they were busy!), and was able to repair our A/C unit within an hour of diagnosis! He was very honest about the cost/benefit of different tiers of repair & replacement, which made me more confident about our choice. We will definitely request him again when our A/C finally kicks the bucket.

To sum up our experience, genz Ryan is all about communication, being up front, and good quality work. In my following (long story) I will explain each of those points, and why they got a 5 from me.

Our furnace went out in the dead of winter (of course). We scheduled an appointment online for the next morning.

The following morning they called us and confirmed the appointment window between 8am and noon. At about 10am they called and said the technician thought they would be there around 12, and if that was not early enough they could send someone else sooner. We confirmed that we were fine huddling around our fireplace, and noon was fine.

The technician arrived within the initial window given, and this was the second appointment I had with this technician (Ryan). He remembered me and we said hi and chatted briefly before getting down to business. We explained our problems and that we were trying to work with a home warranty company and used them as a third party repair.

The tech said that they had done this before, laid down their experience and level set that home warranties generally only covered what was broken, and that genz Ryan as a company tried to fix and do preventative work as well. Depending on what was found he would give us options on how to proceed.

Within 30 minutes we Ryan had found 3 things that were wrong: the blower which caused the furnace to shut off, then the sensor was on its last legs, and the humidity control panel was not working. He said in his experience the warranty companies generally only covered what was broken (the blower) and the rest they wouldn't.

He then laid out plans, from the bare bones of getting the furnace running by replacing the blower, to fixing all the other red flags, to plans including upgrading the blower to be more energy efficient (and saying it generally pays for itself with electricity savings for our house), to one including an upgraded thermostat since we mentioned on the previous visit that we hated ours and wanted a replacement.

While my wife and I discussed the options Ryan called our home warranty company. After getting the work approved, we moved forward with a plan. With all the work we gave him, he still completed before his estimated time to finish, and always had time for questions along the way (not only for us but also the guy he was training as well).

We went with the new thermostat option and he even took the time to program it to our specification and showed us some other cool features of it.

This company earned a 5 in my book because I would use them again. They have good quality (and guaranteed their work for multiple years), and we're up front about multiple options, cost, what each package included or didn't, how the home warranty would play into this, and even showing us that we could save money by signing up as members (which includes an array of other benefits, like furnace filters delivered to our door).

The only slight complaint I would have is that they seem slightly pricier than some other options (one other quote) BUT I know the quality of their work and parts because on our package we got a 5 year guarantee that if it breaks they come back out and fix it for free. So while it may be more up front, for a long term investment like a house, I think that is worth it.

My review only pertains to the experience I had with the sales team, and so I can't speak to any other process. I asked Genz-Ryan to give me an estimate on a mini-split system, and was given a window of 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. They didn't arrive until 3 p.m., by which time I had an estimator from a different company at the home who was measuring the main floor. When I showed the team upstairs, they remarked that, "If all you're looking for is the lowest price, then I can tell you right now we won't beat it and you're wasting our time. We're more interested in building long-term relationships with clients." I invited them to stay and justify their pricing/service, and they seemed like they were going to stay. But a few minutes later, they left without saying a word and drove away. It seems as if they were upset by the fact that I was getting multiple estimates. This raises huge red flags. I called the office and talked to a customer service rep, who was very polite and apologetic, and handled my call very well (and why I'm still giving them two stars). Based on my conversation with her, I don't believe this is the normal level of service. However, my experience with this particular sales team was so concerning that I believe it was worth noting here.

The tech that came out was thorough and friendly at first, and gave several options as to how to get our A/C going again. But when I wanted to think about the options and discuss them with my wife, he kept pushing me to "at least" recharge and seal the system for $900+ dollars. He suggested this even when he told us the system needs replacement. Why would I spend $900 today when I'll have another $4k on top of that when we replace the system? I would avoid this company and their pushy tactics.

My central air conditioning quit working on July 2...

My central air conditioning quit working on July 2nd during extremely hot weather. I was very happy that the Genz-Ryan folks were able to provide me with service on July 3rd, even though this was the observed July 4th holiday for most businesses. The technician, Steve Major, identified the failing compressor very quickly and was able to schedule installation of a new system on July 4th!!. Steve is a very qualified, professional and personable technician.

I would never recommend this company to anyone. I called them after my furnace went out. The service tech. puttered around for about 45 minutes, then gave me a list of about $2000 worth of repairs that needed to be done, or I could replace the furnace (between $4,000 and $6,000).

The next day I had a second company come in to give me a second opinion, and, surprise, surprise, all that needed to be replaced was the flame sensor (under $200). They were able to spot the issue in less than 10 minutes, and had my heat back up and running under 30 minutes. Clearly the tech. was completely inept, or unethical. Either way, save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for heating/cooling services.

I phoned to have 1 toilet fixed. Just 1 toilet. Bill B. examined both toilets in condo, showed how 2nd was at end of life and convinced me to have both fixed. Cost was more than anyone imagined, but glad to have both updated and less likely to fail. Bill B. was through and quick. I will call Genz-Ryan again.

We had been considering replacing our 15 year old furnace & A/C due to some performance issues. I had already received two proposals for the replacement.
When Jeremey came from Genz-Ryan, he presented a proposal with several solutions from high to low prices. One of the options was a refurbishment of the existing furnace. (None of the other two vendors had given me that option)
Jeremey pointed out to me that the furnace heat exchanger was still in good condition and had a 20-year manufacturer's warranty. With that information, we decided to go with the refurb option. I was pleased that Jeremey did not try to talk me into a more expensive option and that his honesty convinced me to do the refurb.
I asked about scheduling the work and he said he could do it that day after obtaining the necessary parts. He returned about 4:00 PM and worked diligently on the task until he had the furnace operational about 7:00 PM.
His professionalism and persistence in completing job were really appreciated.
If this is the level of customer service to be expected from Genz-Ryan and their employees, I would not hesitate to call on them again and would have no problem recommending them (and Jeremey!) to my family and friends.
We also decided to purchase their yearly maintenance program which was reasonably priced at $10 a month. Included in the program are a spring and fall checkup and a year's worth of furnace filters. I considered this a plus as they will automatically schedule the checkups and I don't have to go to the hardware store to find the correct furnace filters.

Simply one of the best services I've gotten in a very long time! Jake Pyles was a professional through and through from start to finish. He arrived on time, came with his own over-shoes cover, talked me through every detail of his inspection, made helpful suggestions and answered all of my questions ... and more! His experience and knowledge of HVAC and other home related appliances astounded me, but, the fact that he was willing to take the time to provide me with valuable feedback was over the top!! Jake's sincere demeanor, honesty, helpfulness, and positive attitude about his work and the company he works for gave me confidence that I had made the right choice in hiring Genz-Ryan.

Andrew 5-stars. He was friendly, thorough, and understanding when we didn t know exactly how we wanted the work done. We felt safe while he was in our home. Scheduling office 3-stars. When I called to schedule a consultation, the first appointment was 2 week out and was told I d get a call the day before with the time the electrician would arrive. The day before my service I didn t receive a call and on the day of my service no one showed up, the first communication from the scheduling office was at 4:30pm letting us know no one could get out today and the soonest appointment is in a week . Service appointments require home preparation and to schedule *soft* appointments was disappointing.

The service rep "Mike" didn't seem to want to stay to complete service. He ended up doing the work, but after he left, the furnace no longer worked (it worked fine before he arrived). I found out a couple days later after we got home from an out of town trip. Fortunately, they were able to get another rep out to fix the problem. Apparently he installed some electrical part correctly, but didn't adjust it so that it would function. After the new rep corrected this, it seems to be working fine.

Hot and humid with no AC, I gave them a call and within a day, they were out. Tyler checked out our issue and gave us options on what we could do to a. just get it to work, b. Get it to work and find the leak, c. Get it to work and fix the leak. After reviewing our options we decided to replace and he gave us several choices there as well. We felt confident in our options and decisions. His expertise was helpful as we were able to schedule replacement at a time that worked for us.

My heat went out on the coldest day in 20 yrs. I called at least 6 places and they all said tomorrow morning at the earliest. Genz-Ryan said they could make it that day. I got a call an hour later from Noah saying he will be there in 10 minutes. He warned me right away that my furnace was old and they quit making parts for it 6 yrs. ago. But he would try and fix it in hopes of not having to get a new furnace. He was able to fix it in short order. Also told me exactly what he did. Nice kid. The best part is they did not gouge me when they could of. He just charged me the regular service price. I will be getting a new furnace and air conditioner from them in April for sure.

If I could give them less than one star I would! These guys were misleading me by telling me that I needed a whole new venting pipe to vent my hot water heater. It would involve ripping out my sheet rock. I spoke to another plumber and he said it was not required by code. Furthermore, another company just vented my new furnace without changing my venting pipes. After repeatedly asking Genz Rayn to provide the code that states new venting was needed, they could never produce the documented code. I wounder how many others they have taken advantage of by telling them they need all new venting when it is not required. They gave me quotes between $4,500 and $11,000 to put in a water heater! Absolutely crazy!! You can buy a water heater at Home Depot for $1,000 and pay a reputable plumber under $500 to install for a lot cheaper! They refused to give me my money back after trouble shooting the issue and were unable to fix it. NEVER USE Genz Ryan! They will mislead you and charge you crazy prices! Very poor customer service. I am so sorry for anyone else out there that fell victim to having your sheet rock ripped out to put in new venting that is not required. Go get your money back!

Scheduled for a furnace tune up as my furnace has not been feeling at 100% and had to wait 3 weeks until the first appointment was available for any time slot. They called me hours before the service time to reschedule another day as the technician was no longer available for today. The soonest they could have someone out was another 3 weeks out. I had already had to take time off work to work around their schedule and they couldn't even do that for me for the second time around on their mistake. Very poor service.

Communication wasn't great.

Didn't offer any choices on anything.

Price seemed a tad high for what we had done.

Work quality was OK.

They snapped off a square foot sheet of 40+ year old paneling in my mom's bedroom and didn't tell me.

Wish they did dry wall.

Now I have bare studs and 40+ year old insulation *in* my shower.

I really, REALLY, **REALLY** wish I would of went with a general contractor instead.

I definitely learned my lesson.

Matt was a professional all the way. He diagnosed our problem with our dishwasher leak, fixed it promptly. Cleaned the mess left underneath the dishwasher by whomever installed the dishwasher originally. He documented the process well so the warranty department would be notified of the damage to the wood floor and the mechanical piece that was broken. He is a great representative for the Genz-Ryan company.

Taking our business elsewhere moving forward - the...

Taking our business elsewhere moving forward - they don't support manufacturers warranties. In April of 2017 we had Genz Ryan install a new combination sump pump system (main pump with secondary back up pump with battery). The manufacturer warranty for this system (which was over $2000) is 3 years. This year with the saturated spring we've had is the first year the pump has been activated. There have been intermittent issues with the pump - main pump is activated, removes maybe a half inch of water and shuts off. Once the main float kicks on again most of the time it will luckily remove all of the water at that point. Our battery back up/secondary pump has activated a few times as well - likely due to this issue. I even shared video of the issue. In order for them to troubleshoot, you get charged the gammit as if it was a product they didn't install. In speaking with another LARGE plumbing company in the metro they actually take time to call the distributor and warranty their work that aligns with the manufacturer warranty. Lesson learned for us! Stick to the bigger companies.

Tom Ronia came to our home to replace the hardware on our kitchen sink. He was very kind, offering a range of options, including one allowing my wife to leave him unattended in our home while she left to purchase the hardware herself, which he installed. She felt very safe leaving him there, despite having just met. And, he cleaned up after the work was completed, so it was a spotless transition. I am extremely grateful for this, as my wife is a vulnerable adult. Also because Genz-Ryan was thoughtful and kind helping to accommodate us with the bill afterward.

I purchased a furnace inspection/tune-up on Groupon, Kevin called ahead to let me know he was on his way (nice touch, actually), arrived on time and introduced himself upon arrival.
I joined him as he did his inspection and asked many questions along the way. He was courteous, informative and helpful, always answering my questions. I've actually never had someone as helpful and informative as Kevin, nor has anyone ever tested my system for efficiency. Nice to see it was working as well as it was after 25 years!
He did an excellent job, was extremely informative and very personable.

Steve was very patient and knowledgeable. I have an AC unit from the late 80s that started causing some water problems in my basement and he was very helpful. He was thorough in explaining what and why it was having issues. It is important to me to understand the what's and why's. I felt I was in good hands now and when I needed to replace my 30yo furnace last year. Highly recommend.

Completely professional! I received a text reminder on the day of my appointment, which included a picture and the credentials of the technician. He wore a mask and shoe covers during his visit. He made several electrical repairs during the appointment. No pressure to do additional work and he did not try to up-sell any services. Will definitely use Genz-Ryan in the future!

If you are reading this please do not use Genz Ryan. We have been scammed from them from the start. Steve said we would need a new furnace for $5,200 -$8,000 for the best one. Then we did not feel right about the price or the quote and had a second person from Genz Ryan come out and said nothing was wrong with the furnace. The furnace makes a loud noise when it turns on but seemed to work ok. Mike had come out to see about the noise and and tried to sell us a filtration system for $1,100 and said that might fix the noise. By this point we realized that they try to sell us products that are way to expensive and they do not back their work since we originally had them put a honey well system ($3,000) in to regulate our heating better but this did not fix the noise either. In the end we cut our losses since they did not fix our furnace and tried to upsell us there various programs and schemes all designed for them to make allot of money off their trusting customers. If we listened to them we would of had over $10,000 into a furnace and their extras for a small basic town home with a simple Bryant furnace.They take advantage of people who do not understand furnaces and push extra services like duct cleaning, filtration systems, computer systems etc. gauging their customers. Our furnace is working fine but still has a noise that was never diagnosed correctly. For people who are suppose to be experts we were highly disapointed. I think the Better Business Bureau should be contacted to keep people like this from preying on people who are stuck with a failed furnace. We were lucky in that our furnace was still working. Their pricing is outrageous and they try to get you signed up for various monthly plans to keep you coming back so they can upsell you more of their unneeded products. We were very suprised that such a big company like this has such poor practices. Look elsewhere for honest furnace service.
