Worst company ever. Sent them notice not to renew our account two different ways. Still charged the annual fee to renew even though they show we asked to close the account. Say they still charge it until the account closes completely. They are a joke and a total scam.
Zero stars should be an option

High Scam Risk.

High Scam Risk.
I Wish I could say ZERO stars about this fraudulent company.
HIGH SCAM RISK - AVOID***

After no less 8 emailed back and forth between Lisa Caroll, Anita Ellis, and Wendy Addison- I have continued to be defrauded by their business practices.

Despite sending in all appropriate information to my payment processor, and additionally having the customer WITHDRAW their incorrect dispute- these bad actors insist on not returning all of my funds from the now retracted dispute, case 02149831

Do not do business with these scammers.
The do not care about you, your business, or even doing their jobs for that matter.

The refuse to return my money.

Horrible Fradulent Company! They are money hungry crooks. Their sales agents tell you one thing to get your business & before you know it you'll be cancelling their services. Then they demand an early term fee that the sales agent clearly stated there wasn't one! And they go as far as putting it on your credit! There isn't any understanding with this company, they want your money by any means!!!

Harassing tactics, lies to intimidate you, false accusations, threats against your mortgage(from Kassey). Time from your day taken to resolve these issues by getting other parties involved.
Update: Got my sales Rep from Eliot Management Group involved as well as the owner of my building. Kassey hung up on my sales rep refusing to talk to him. And also refused to talk to the owner of the building even though we were all on the same plan.

STAY AWAY....very deceptive.... live and die by contract law not service. All they have to do is get you to sign and good luck after that. My stomach turns when ever I think of these jokers....
Beware of blue rhino merchant services as well! They are a private merchant service that get kickbacks from people they get to sign.. Bill and Dawn Beattie in coral springs Fl.

Company uses theft by deception. They do not deposit funds in a timely manner unless you call and complain. You also sign a release to give them full access to your bank account. DO NOT USE THEM

CURRENT ALERTS FOR THIS BUSINESS
Pattern of Complaint:
Based on BBB files, First American Payment Systems has a pattern of disputes concerning sales practices. Consumers allege they are not informed of monthly charges and/or terms of the contract. Further consumers allege sales representatives misrepresent the contractual agreement for services as preliminary paperwork to get a quote for services. Consumers also allege they have difficulties canceling contracts signed with First American Payment Systems.

On January 13, 2020, First American Payment Systems responded to BBB that it utilizes Independent Sales Organizations, and has limited control of what is said at the time of sale. First American Payment Systems main role involves back-office processing including setting up of the account, account approval and handling merchant services for credit card transactions.

First American provided BBB a copy of its contract which fully discloses rates and fees. The company states the contract and its terms and conditions will be combined into one secured and bound document. Further, they have added multiple acknowledgments in the Agreement where a merchant must confirm receipt of the Agreement and reading its terms. First American Payment Systems emphasized all electronic agreements are available at any time. Merchants can go back and review, print or read the Terms & Conditions or call their 24x7 customer service with the number provided for a copy.

The business has put the early termination fee language in bold and includes it in the signature page of the Agreement to make the terms clearer for the customer. The Agreement also states consumers are filling out an application for merchant processing and related services.

Additionally, First American Payment Systems states they have addressed sales practice concerns with the specific sales office generating complaints.

First American Payment Systems emphasized business owners must take the time to read and understand their contract before signing.

For more details regarding disputes received by BBB, please visit the complaints tab of this business s BBB Business Profile.

If I could give them zero stars I would..... they are liars and nothing they tell you is the truth!!
Alex Suarez will tell you anything to get you to sign up then you will never hear from him again. I tried to cancel and they claimed I agreed to an early cancellation fee. I have proof that Alex waived and initialed my contract showing that it was waived.... i'm waited for their reply.

Do not use this bank for credit card processing. ...

Do not use this bank for credit card processing. It has been hell on earth dealing with these shady people. It is now May 28, 2020 and I have been trying to use them as a processor since February. I have yet to be able to process through the virtual terminal, because apparently my sales rep filled out the wrong paperwork for a MOTO account. They did, however, send me a cc terminal as well and I was able to do a few small transactions. However, whenever I try to run large transactions for $10,000 or more the bank captures my money for several days, until I fax, email, or snail mail documents for each transaction. I do not have the time or the will to be mistreated and embarrassed in front of my customers while I don t get my funds and the customers don t get their furniture. Stay far away from this processor unless you are a glutton for punishment.

We were contacted by a sales rep with First American Payment systems. He told us that they could process credit card payments for a tenth of a percent plus $15 per month. He said there were no contracts. We decided to sign up with them. Within a two weeks of signing up they billed us $87 to process one credit card payment of under $400. When we called to see what was going on they told us that there was all these other fees and that's it was stated in the contract. We told them to send us a copy of this contract that we had no idea existed. They sent us a contract that we hadn't signed. We told them we want to cancel our service with them and they told us it would cost $500. We said we wouldn't pay that and we put a stop payment on our checking account for anything that came from First American. Then under a different identity (their in house collection company) they stole over $600 from our account. Not only that, they dinged my husband's credit to the point that he can't get a credit card now. The only reason they have an A+ rating from BBB is because they pay for it. Do not work with this company. They are dishonest and fraudulent! Oh, and the response from the company that comes up after bad reviews is just a canned comment that pops up. They aren't doing anything to try to resolve the issue.

Worst Credit Card processing ever... they stole $300 from my account after being a customer for 3 years. As soon as I realized they had been ripping me off with their awful fees, I cancelled and that's when they took money from my account. I had also bought my machine outright. Don't deal with this company! Stay far away from them. They lie, they will automatically renew your contract and you cannot leave the company period without paying termination fees. They make it impossible. If anyone starts a class action suit against this company. Please include me because they should be arrested because of criminal business actions. Do not give them access to your account, they will steal money from it!

Buyer beware! Thinking there's enough of us for a class action lawsuit. Contact me at melissarubin1970 "at" outlook "dot" com let's stop them!
Here's what happended to me:
I was contacted by Brook an employee of Eliot Management Group. A subsidiary of First American (they have at least 8 names they go by....hmmm creepy). She solicited me to use their phone slider instead of propay (propay is very much like square). She told me there were no monthly fees or annual fees and that only fees were those directly associated with the cards I ran which varied from 0.59% to 1.59% of the amount charged and processed. She had me sign up on her ipad where there was only a tiny window in which to sign. I was not allowed to read a contract nor was I provided with a copy. Once my slider was activated I was charged $63 before I had used it. Brooke got that reversed and said it was an error. I believe the only reason this first charge was refunded was because I had referred other clients to her and she didn't want me disrupting her business with them. After that, random charges kept coming out of my account without any explanation (I would text Brook and she would say she would get it refunded but that did not happen). I called First American when Brook stopped answering texts and I was told that there was no set monthly fee...that fees would vary and they could not tell me why or how much they would be - the charges are completely random. Brook stopped answering my calls and more random fees kept coming out of my account. On one of my calls First American told it would cost $400 to cancel with them, then when I canceled they sent me collections bill for $617, then they drafted $592 out of my account months after ending my relationship wit them - all these numbers are vastly different and there has never been an itemized bill to me explaining ANY charges. They seem to feel they can just take whatever they want from your bank account and then threaten your credit should you not comply. It feels like a fininacial rape of my account. I feel violated and I will NOT stand for this. As an example of how unethical first American is in how they train their reps... Brook showed up uninvited to my brother in laws home (I had referred him before I myself realized it was a scam company) and handed him a card processing machine....then she tried to hand him $100 cash (which he did not take), she said the machine was free and a leftover from some return....of course then random fees started coming out of his account and ue never used the machine she gave him. Get this....they have A+ rating on BBB. They have 13 reviews on BBB....12 of which are bad and 66 complaints. They are not in any fashion a better business in any way, shape or form.

Avoid this shady company. I'm convinced that the positive reviews were done by employees. My bank account went into the negative because of a clerical error on my part, First American Ripooff Systems closed their account with me because when they went to withdraw their money, I had a negative balance. They then charged me $500 because THEY closed account, not me. When I called to straighten this out, I had the misfortune of talking to Crystal (ext 9163), who hated her life let it show through her phone etiquette. No willingness to help, hateful and rude. Type "First American Payment Systems Complaints" in Google. I plan on writing a more in depth review on ripoffreport dot com. I'm also joining the hundreds of other business owners by reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Enjoy that $500 you crooks!!!

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY

First American are con-artists. Tried to sell us a product that didn't work with our software. We then sent it back to them and they charged us over $1400 in fees. They then blamed us and said it's because they didn't get the machine. I have the tracking numbers and their signature receipt. When I provided those details, they stopped accepting my calls and wouldn't return my messages. CON ARTISTS! Thanks for charging $1400 in services we never used and had no ability to use.

Upon receipt of my email to First American, they then claimed they would send us the $495 cancellation fee back. Oh Thank you! Thanks for charging us every month for a product we DIDN"T HAVE. We sent the worthless machine back to them. And yet, they charged us for it!

I will continue to fight for what is right as a business. You will not treat us this way, nor should you treat others this way. What a horrendous way of doing business.

CON ARTISTS!!

Absolute nightmare of a company to deal with. They have been attempting to discredit our company, Music City Dream Cars, by adding random charges/debits even after our account was closed. This is one of the worst companies I have ever had to privilege to interact with. The customer service is a joke and they make it virtually impossible to cancel services with them. I was on the phone with 6 or 7 different people and none of them knew what they were doing. They do not care about their customers at all. They care about how much they can nickle and dime you. They represent what business looks like when it has no moral compass. It is obvious they train their people to use stall tactics and over complicated procedures to frustrate people into staying. Ending our account with them was more difficult than trying to quit a gym membership in the 90s. Enjoy the $495 bogus cancellation fee you took from us. Everyone else, please do not do business with them.

Update: After posting my review I was contacted by a woman named Rosa from First American and they will be refunding the $495 cancellation fee. I wish I would have been able to speak with her the first time I contacted the company! I am raising my review to two stars because they did work to resolve the matter. However, I still cannot recommend their customer service or retention departments.

HI, This should be a negative -5 star rating. The sales rep told me there would be no charge if there were no sales. I had no sales but they continued to charge me monthly fees. When I tried to stop these fees they told me I was under contract and could not cancel contract. The money was taken out of my account automatically and I could not stop it. I closed my account to stop the bleeding. Stay far, far away from these liars. They are not a friend of the better business bureau or any legitimate business. They prey on the small business. The one star means "Hated it."

Do not do business with this company!! A paragraph of my contract was signed by one of there representatives stating that I would not be charged any early termination fees should I choose to cancel services. After 4 years with them, I sold my business and requested that my account be terminated. These criminals charged me $1400 in "early termination" fees..Really? I called and talked to David (the guy who originally signed me up) and he told me that "in the contract I agreed that no one could alter the agreement." WHAT? It was him that altered it. Stay Far away from this company, there are many honest merchant service providers to choose from, just not First American. County Court is my next stop.

This company totally ripped us off. I cancelled my account with them, after they tried to charge me more money for transactions, and a so called early termination fee for an automatic renewal that I never agreed to. When I cancelled my account the rep on the phone never informed me about this fee, when common courtesy would have warranted it. The collections rep on the phone that works directly for the merchant was extremely rude as well. I would not remommend this company to any small business ever.

I really wish that I had read these reviews before deciding to use them. The best part of this company was the "owner" Matt, everything else about this company is AWFUL! I met Matt at a small business expo where he boasted about being the ideal choice for the little guy. Low fees, quick response time, free CC processor machine, && amazing customer service. EVERY SINGLE CLAIM WAS GREATLY OVER EXAGGERATED! He promised no fee the first month. Not True. He was able to get the fee reversed, although it took 3 weeks to receive the money. Then their LP department holds $3,000 contract in escrow pending verification. Once verified they decide that they didn't like the terms of the contract between myself and my client. WTF? Now I am trying to leave because I finally had enough of the fees, long turn around times, and all around shenanigans AND WHAT DO I FIND OUT? They put me in a no bail out 3 year contract with a $600 cancellation fee.

DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS ME! Now I am stuck here for 3 years with quite literally the WORST COMPANY IN DFW for Merchant Services!

**I WILL KEEP THIS HERE UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED**

First Payment Systems (FPS) has failed to provide ...

First Payment Systems (FPS) has failed to provide my business with any services as deemed within sales agreement and contract yet they have continued to charge me a monthly fee for over 20 months. I'm embarrassed to say that I'm just now catching this on my monthly bank statements. In 2013 when I first signed up I used the QB INTUIT POS system which could not be used with any 3rd party merchant services. FPS said since I signed the agreement to perform the rate comparison analysis, it ultimately served as a contract for services. I had to mail in a form to cancel, which I did within a week of signing the contract. I assumed that I was done with the company. They claim they never received the appropriate cancellation form and no, they didn't bother to call me about it.

FPS continued to debit my checking account for services NEVER rendered. FPS is in clear violation of breach of contract and used bait and switch tactics in accordance to Texas laws. When I called them, the woman was EXTREMELY rude. She acknowledged that my account was dormant. She also read their company notes where it stated my system was not compatible with using their merchant services, yet she keep going back to "you signed a contract....you still have 2 more years left on it" She then threatened me with "If you cancel, you will have to pay $495 cancellation fee".

After looking them up on the internet, I could see the hundreds upon hundreds of complaints that have been filed against this company for bad business practices. Last look it shows at least 300+ complaints with the BBB. I will be filing complaints with the Texas State Attorney Generals office, Federal Trade Commission and all other regulating agencies both state and federal. All those affected should be doing the same. You would think that the FTC would already be investigating them given the number of complaints.

Any lawyers out there reading all these reviews and are interested in launching a Class Action Lawsuit, you have my support. I believe there are hundreds, if not thousands of FPS victims out there that would love to be a part of this.

Last thing I will say on this subject. It's obvious the "positive" comments are fake comments posted by the company in an effort to skew their ratings. I know someone from the company will be reading and writing a response to my comment. To this I say, God takes care of His own. That would be me.

According to James 4:17 - So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. 1 Timothy 6:10 - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

The 1 Star Rating is actually a negative Star Rating and should be a "0". Google needs to add that one to their list.

All I can say is READ the fine print and do not believe what is omitted or told verbally. I just found out I am now LOCKED into paying them for 36 months whether or not I use the merchant processing. Also, you can't just "cancel" the service, you have to wait until 90 days before your anniversary date. Also, has to be in writing stating WHY you are cancelling or you pay out the whole amount up front. Thanks for screwing the little guys.

First off, to the anonymous "A Google User" (note how the ONLY anonymous comments are the positive ones. Coupled with the comicial masking attempts like "well take one star off, yes 4 out of 5 looks legit.... no Harry look at our company raiting of 1, do 5 stars ... shut up John I scam people for a living i know what im doing"; its pretty obvious who wrote them. )

the comment, "Not sure why I'm seeing such bad reviews here. I'm assuming those are isolated issues" ... well when 90% of the reviews catagorcially disagree, its not isolated.

Its a scam run far away if u still can. I help my friend that owns a business and all previous comments on here 100% are true!! He asked me to look over the contract and explained what all happened. I would give zero stars, if possible. I was told to wait to be contacted over and over. I even asked for a different number or e-mail that I could initiate further contact and was never given one. This lasted for 6 MONTHS. We wanted an updated terminal, so given their poor customer service, we went with another provider, just to find out that we are still on the hook for an additional year because the contract automatically renews per year outside of the initial 3 yr term contract. NO ONE TOLD ME THAT THE 6 MONTHS I had correspondence with them! Yes I should have read the 16 page fine print Terms and Conditions, but that does NOT excuse the lack of customer service. They knew what I was doing and should have talked to me about the termination conditions BEFORE it was too late. Now our business is paying them hundreds for absolutely no transactions until we are up for termination.

This is by far the lowest of the lowest company. My lawsuit against these bastards is going to be so huge until it will reach CNN and all the other National news stations. Back in November 2016 my spouse started to receive letters from the IRS stating that he owed over 8,000 in back takes. After carefully investigating and talking with the IRS We learned that these scam artist had reported that they payed us over 27,000 dollars in credit card transactions that we did not pay taxes on.. The year they say we earned all this so called money was in 2014. It is true that my spouse had his own small business. It is true that he utilized this credit card machine. What is a ball faced lie is accusing him of not reporting merchant income. You see this business closed down in 2012. So how in the world if we closed down in 2012 did we make this money in 2014. God is going to judge each and everyone of you leaches for all the false accusing that you've done not just to me but to all of the people that shook your hands and trusted you.Your salesmen came out to our establishments and flat out lied to us all. Evil, Evil, Evil. That's exactly what this company represents. Guys better fix this mess and you'd better fix it quickly.

NO STARS IF POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!

NO STARS IF POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!

(Altira Advisors, Merimac Capital & First American Payment Systems 3, sign you up with each other total SCAMMERS)

The representative that signed me up lied straight to my face. Sergio Millan for the record. I was told there would be NO contract later to find out he signed me up for a 3 year contract. I have this service for 2 month and I am being charged ridiculous amounts, when the machine is not being used.
So they charge 25 minimum fee plus another 30 plus insurance for the machine. That is at least 55 dollars a month.
When you talk to him, he tell you everything you want to hear. NO contract, cancel whenever you want, with no penalty.
Just to find out that the cancellation fee is 495.00!!!!!!!!! After you call corporate and explain to them what is going on. They do not want to hear it and will not let you speak to anyone else! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHAT SO EVER!
They tell you its all in the fine print. But who reads the contract now in days when you have the representative in your office telling you, that you cancel when ever you want. He told us to sign all the documents and never gave us a copy.
A total scam. They nickel and dime you for every little thing. So basically we are paying about 100.00 for a service that is not being used.

This SCAMMERS want to steal a total of $2,500 for the blind contract Altira Advisors walked us into.

The first words that come to mind to describe this company and its 3rd party re-sellers is scum. This company apparently can't make revenue the normal way like its competitors so they deploy devious sales tactics, forced sales, don't provide the contract, say the terms are month to month with no cancellation fees. So when everything the sales person said above First American Payment Systems in the sales pitch turns out to be 100% lies and you try to cancel they come after you with vengeance....termination fee, lost revenue, equip fees (even when i had my own equipment). They are claiming over $5000 in lost revenue and cancellation fees. I've tried to be reasonable with them in getting them to go away, however they just want their fees. No wonder the company has 1.6 stars on google, rip-off reports all over, merchant blogs and reviews with hundreds of complaints.
Final words of advise: Run, Run, Run as far away from this company as you can.

On 10/30/19 we received a phone call from First American Payment Systems saying on 10/21+10/22 there were many VISA attempts that were declined all coming from the same IP address. Over 600 charges were attempted all were declined. 600! This was the first I was notified about the problem. We ONLY accept credit cards on line, we have NO TERMINAL in our possession so we had no idea these transactions existed. FAPS indicated I had two options, contact my Rep which had been Bill Beatie or close my account. I tried contacting our Rep, however was told he had since left the Company. I then decided to follow through with the second option writing and emailing our letter to close on 10/31. I then got a very abrasive phone call from First American Payment systems saying to close our account we would be expected to pay an Early Termination Fee of $495. The person calling indicating we had missed our anniversary date by a few weeks! Now we were expected to keep our account open for an additional year or pay the fee. WE HAD BEEN WITH FIRST AMERICAN PAYMENT SYSTEMS SINCE 2002. I was furious. I then took my frustration to Facebook of which prompted a call from Rossa Nichols FAPS Relations Specialist on 11/1 at 2pm. She agreed we had been longtime good customers and she would be happy to wave the termination fee and emailed us a letter stating that. The letter indicated
**Your account now reflects a zero ($0.00) balance and is closed in good standing.**
However on 11/3/19 a charge/fee of $339.50 was sent through anyway! I then contacted Rossa Nichols again, she emailed back saying the charges were the regular October EOM (End-of month) fees of $110.67 and a $228.83 charge was an IP Tran for VISA which is the authorization charge for all the Visa attempts being made by the person who was trying to use what had to be stolen numbers. She indicates supposedly those charges were for the end of the month and were not on the account prior to her letter. Only her letter was written on 11/1/19 at 2pm clearly if those charges were valid they would of already appeared on my account. Again her letter clearly states on 11/1/19
**Your account now reflects a zero ($0.00) balance and is closed in good standing.**
Friday January 10th, 2020 we receive a letter from Scott Morrison reading if the balance of NOW a NEW TOTAL of $1064.50 isn t paid by 1/13/20 First American will recommend legal action.

Absolutely the worse payment processor we have used to date. Fees are ridiculous. Monthly "Charges" are part of their fee system. It took 3 letters, I'm unsure how many phone calls and over a month for them to finally close the account. Horrible customer service and very costly fee wise while using them. Businesses beware!

Run away. Run away quickly and decisively. They will rip you off, ignore your calls, switch your account representative without notice or communication, and sneak in as many additional charges as they can. They do business like petty thieves. Find someone else.

Zero stars. I signed a 3 year agreement in March 2013 and bought the processing equipment outright. After three and a half years of being a loyal customer, I decided to change banks and use that banks more competitive processing service. I was advised that my contract "automatically renewed" after 3 years, and I would owe $495 for early termination. When I disagreed with the rude, condescending associate about the terms, she told me "your credit score is gonna go down 170 points if you don't pay us that money by January 27th". Rude, threatening, and snide associates, hidden fees and shady automatic renewals are only a few of the EXTORTIONIST tactics employed by FAPS and their associates.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH FIRST AMERICAN PAYMENT SYSTEMS! YOU WILL REGRET IT!

I never will do business with this company based on the negative reviews. I received a call from a sales guy asking me to send him my current merchant account provider statement so he could compare prices. I advised I was not interested and he continued to ramble off. I gladly hung the phone up and If he calls again I will not be as pleasant. Thanks everyone for the reviews.

The worst company to cancel an account. Have sent in paperwork twice, now on third time, was given a fax number that is always busy, their favorite words are "we can't send an e-mail, because e-mails are traceable", have had to pay a bank fee to keep them from drawing money from my account. After 8 months of them stealing my money, this was a small price to pay. Had to give 1 star because you can't leave a no star review

I WAS TOLD TO GOOGLE THE COMPANY THAT THEY HAD AN A PLUS RATING WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU BUT THE FIRST THING I SAW WAS ALL THESE NEGATIVE REVIEWS AND THAT WOULD MAKE A PERSON HESITANT I AM GLAD THAT I RESEARCHED A LITTLE FURTHER AND FOUND OUT THAT ANYONE WHO FEELS CHEATED HAS THE POTENTIAL TO WRITE A NEGATIVE REVIEW THAT DOESNT NECESSARILY MEAN THEY ARE TRUE. MY EXPERIENCE WITH FIRST AMERICAN HAS BEEN NOTHING LIKE WHAT I HAVE READ. THEY PROVIDED ME WITH GOOD CUSTOMER SAVINGS, DROPPED MY RATES AND GAVE ME EQUIPMENT FREE OF CHARGE EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO GET ME BACK INTO COMPLIANCE WITH THE INDUSTRY STANDARD OF 2 %.PLEASE PEOPLE DONT TAKE YOUR BAD DAY AND DISCOURAGE OTHERS AWAY FROM A GOOD COMPANY.

We use them for our government clients. It was a bad mistake to use this company. The level of incompetence is mind blowing. In my 30 years of working with vendors of any type, this is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. Do not use them. You will have problems. We are moving away from them.

First American Payment Systems does not conduct proper business practices. You could label this company as a scam in many ways. After settling with our merchant account, we received threatening letters months later involving damaging our personal credit. After paying years of fees and dues without even using their services, they continue to demand high fees. What kind of company charges you outrageous fees after you have not even been using their services for years? STAY AWAY. See the outrageous fees below!!

A swarmy salesman showed up and next thing you know $ is deducted every month. I even remember him peeking over my shoulder at tax documents to get more information then writing it down. I asked him what was up with that and he brushed it off. Guess my fault in the end. What a ripoff. Never even used them ONCE. Told them I didn't want to go forward and we were going to stick with square. I cannot believe this is happening. Hoping for an amicable solution. Check back for updates.

This company has scammed me out of hundreds of dollars. A smooth talking representative shows up to your business, tells you lie after lie, has you sign a contract, and vanishes. They do nothing on their end to hold up the agreement. The fees continue to go up, and then additional charges start showing up on your bank statements. Once you close the account, a manager will call you, be disrespectful, and make threats. I did not use this service a single time. I called on three separate occasions to find someone who would fix everything so I could use the service. I would never hear back. They only call when it means they can no longer take your money. Get a lawyer if you signed with them. It is better to pay a lawyer for service provided than it is to pay out of a contract by giving money to thieves.

I called to inquire about First American removing money from my account. The lady I talked to was so rude, I was in shock. I asked for her name and she refused to give it to me. I asked to be transferred to someone else or a manager and she said they wouldn't help me. As I tried to understand the situation of why the company was stealing from me, she hung up on me. I have no idea how this company is still in business. The company stays in business by committing fraud, stealing from its customers, lying, and hiring employees that have worse manners than my toddler.

UPDATE, 08/07/18 - 1 STAR CHANGED TO 2 STAR:

UPDATE, 08/07/18 - 1 STAR CHANGED TO 2 STAR:
After posting my review I decided to email the Merchant Relations team, as suggested by First American's response to my poor review (see below). They offered to refund me if I removed my review, but I opted to simply update the existing as both my experiences were very poor. They DID take care of the situation in the end, but both times it was not easy to do. The first time around it seemed a combination of the third party reseller (Elliot Management) and First American that caused issues. This time around, the reseller (Equity Holdings, DBA: Go Simple Pay, Shield Payments, etc) was the main problem. First American was quicker to remedy this time, but only after a poor public review AND them asking me to remove it.

------
ORIGINAL REVIEW , 07/26/18 - 1 STAR:
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.... I got screwed the first time around with First American Payment Systems using Eliot Management Group in Salt Lake City, UT. They promised all sorts of savings. In reality, I spent 50% more than I would have using PayPal to process all my cards! After I cancelled the account, I kept getting charged for some time and it took months to get resolved!

The second time I gave this company a chance was using Equity Holdings in Salt Lake City, UT (DBA: Go Simple Pay, Shield Payments, etc). Whatever the name these guys chose, Todd Velis and Bob Stubbs were NO HELP at resolving issues they created. They promised a better experience this time around with First American and proceeded to sign me up for it. They signed me up for website and in-person transactions which apparently means two separate accounts and twice the charges. After some delays on my part and theirs to finish integration, I found out I couldn't even use First American with my eCommerce platform! Again I had to deal with cancellation getting dragged out and my money still being taken. This time around I spent $740 on a product I never got to use. I finally called First American after a year of chasing the reseller and was told that I could not get a refund because First American did everything according to their contract and nothing wrong on their part.

This would be a 0 star review for First American Payment Systems, if possible. In my experience, the third party companies selling First American Payment Systems' products are just as much crooks...

Never again.

This company engages in enabling fraud and should be investigated. They knowingly entertain fraudulent merchant charge backs. Their charge back department (who until just last year insisted on us faxing documents) is mismanaged, and staffed by people who don't understand the wide variety of merchants and the services that merchants provide. I would stay away form any processing company that uses these guys, they simply don't understand modern merchant challenges and have an archaic system of reviewing and evaluating charge back submissions.

Promises, promises.... Wish I had read all these before I was signed up with First American, but i didnt even know the name of the processing company they were switching me to even do the research on. By then it was too late. Terrible relations, lack of transparency and entrance into 3 or 4 year agreements you know nothing about. When you request your Merchant Agreement in writing it will take 5 business days to get it sent to you in the mail so you can finally review all that f*ckery first hand. We all have sacrificed years of our lives to struggle to own the businesses we do, and these skimmers just come grab a piece and hang on for the ride. I am with these other people just trying to stay afloat, get a LAWYER.

Probably the most unprofessional company I have ever worked with. Be careful of a company that has direct access to your funds, has ambiguous legal terms and conditions, and customer service representatives that speak as if they have no education. We ended a relationship with his company because their fees increased, service decreased. The process was time consuming and expensive. Do yourself a favor and look for alternatives.

RIP OFF!!! They couldn't figure out how to install their software on our shopping cart so they blamed it on us and said it was because of slow internet (impossible). I cancelled because of breach of contract because they could not provide services. now they are trying to shake me down for $900.00. my attorney told me that he hears stories like this frequently from people that have been ripped off by the many companies that are affiliated with first american, like appstar. they have a terrible reputation so they hide behind affiliates so it is harder to determine who you are dealing with.

STAY AWAY from this company. They have a lot of hidden charges and to terminate your lease will cost you thousands when the device is worth a few hundred. There are companies that will GIVE you the equipment and are much more honorable then this company. They also have you lease equipment you will NEVER use. They also force you to use a cc reader for these new chips they told me 2 years ago would be here. NOW 2 years later and hundreds in lease payment and NOT A SINGLE CHIPPED card has come through my doors. In collaboration with APEX Merchant services they will handcuff you for YEARS. Make it easy on yourself and go somewhere that wants to work for you not trap you into funding them.

This is the worst company every. They charge outrageous fees and lock you into a very long contract with a large cancellation fee. They offer no support and followup. I have been trying for over a year to get a new card reader so I dont have to pay the extra fee to key card number. They NEVER call back as promised. They fees are so high that its much cheaper to pay cancellation fee. Wished I had an opportunity to review they before but they work under several company names.

We used First American for our business for 15 years. They are no longer competitive with other CC processors. When attempting to cancel, I was charged $495 to close the account. The last agreement I signed with them was a decade ago! They have been charging my account $109 per month for a year now and I have not received a single piece of e-mail or physical mail from them. Look at the BBB review of them and I'm sure you can make your own decisions.

I would love to give them zero stars too. Absolutely bad customer service. Horrible contract. Long processing time for all transactions... Every out of state sale that we've had, they put a "hold" for days on the transaction, requiring us to PROVE to THEM through documentation that the sale is valid before they deposit the money. Was with IMS for 5+ years and processed hundreds of thousands in sales...but THIS company requires us to validate a $5,000 transaction. We even had to have our own customer call their credit card company to validate the sale before they released the hold. Ridiculous.

Would recommend other small businesses to avoid this company.

Terrible customer service, lack of urgency is ridiculous!!!!!!
8 years without a single charge back, its been 1 week since I batched $6788.87 on 12-27-19 today 01-02-20 still none of the batch has gone to my bank. on 12-28-19 I received a call from first American needing invoice verification for charge amount $4912 (I EMAILED WHILE ON PHONE AND CONFIRMED THEY RECIEVED IT) and was told it was on review and would take 2 more days. I spoke to first American again today 01-02-20, was told they didn't have time to review it yet because they were on vacation 4 days. When I asked why the rest of my batch $1888 from several different charges has no been released to me if only the 4900 charge needed to be verified, was told again be cause they were on vaca. I am a small business that takes pride in my customer service and promptness to resolve problems. This company does not care about its customer service. Its clear that all they care about is the all mighty dollar.

I used to have a great credit card company but Jason told me that Sundance would save me a bunch of money so I swapped. The credit card machine would never work. I literally spent over 12 hours over the course of a week on the phone with their technical support. Nobody knew how to work the machine. I had to cancel and get a new company. Jason told me there would be no further charges. I am still being charged $50 per month right out of my bank account. When I called the retention department I was told Jason didn't work there anymore. If I cancel my service, they will automatically draft $495 out of my account. This is so unfair! You couldn't process credit cards... why am I being punished???

Edit: 5/20/19

I was called by Amber, who is in the merchant relations department. She was very friendly. I can tell she actually cared about my problem. She quickly closed our account without fees. I blame most of the issues on the machine itself, not the personnel. There are good people working for them, despite what many reviews say, but unfortunately I didn't find Amber until it was too late.
