We have been pleased with our experience at Tom Light Chevrolet. Phillip Culp, the sales representative who helped us was very knowledgeable about the Traverse. This is our first vehicle with all the new electronic features and Phillip was clear and thorough in explaining everything and helping us get it all set up. They didn't have the interior color we wanted at the dealership, but they arranged to get one there the next day!

Had my Chevy towed here last year and couldn't be more disappointed with the service. I called multiple times trying to figure out what they thought was the issue, a time frame on how long it would take to fix or an approximate price, any information whatsoever and they refused to tell me anything. It's important to note that I am a college aged girl but I do know things about my own vehicle. After days of them having my car and not giving me any information I had to get my stepdad to call and inquire for me and magically they knew what was wrong with it, how much it would probably cost and how long it would take (he called minutes after I did). Sold my chevy a couple month after this and will never go back. Unbelievably disrespectful to me and the worst service I have ever gotten. I am the owner, I am the one paying for the repairs so why do I have to get someone else to call in order to be given any information, whether it was done consciously or not it's disappointing and something to be aware if it applies to you.
Still the best of the best! I've been going here for years, I bought all my trucks here, all the maintenance here, and I'm just ever so proud to have Tom Light Chevrolet here in my home town! Thanks guys, yall are awesome :) I recommend you guys to everyone I can!
If you are a Chevy fan, it's THE place to go. Friendly service, front of the house, all the way to the service writers! Best experience I've had at a dealership.
I purchased a used chevy vehicle at another dealership and was able to bring it to Tom Light Chevy to get checked out. They gave we a report and found an issue that was covered by warranty. They took care of the warranty work and I will be bringing my vehicle back for any thing else needed.
I took my car to be serviced by Tom Light Chevrolet three times. The first time I took it there they did not fix the problems I had with my vehicle, the second time I took it in they said they "could not duplicate the concern", the third time I took it in I went on a long ride with the service writer Cole. I showed him all the problems and he wrote them all down. I leave my car there overnight and the next day I get a call saying everything is normal and they diagnosed it as the rear differential making noise, which I was told was "normal for a performance car". The next day I take my car to Caldwell Country and they took a look at it and fixed the problem which was not a rear differential problem it was a front steering issue like I explained to Cole all three times. I took my car in today to get brakes checked out because they have been making noise when I drive and Cole told me that they were not going to work on my car because I gave them a bad survey. Maybe if Tom Light knew what they were doing and fixed my problems the first time I wouldn't have gave them a bad survey. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT GO TO TOM LIGHT!!!
Awful service. Made an appointment online to have open recalls performed on my car. Apparently, you can only schedule oil changes online (even though there is definitely more than an oil change listed as an option). I got 2 different emails: 1 saying I had made the appointment, and 1 saying that they would call me and let me know that the appointment had been confirmed and it was in their system. Nobody called me even though I scheduled the appointment 5 days in advance. I called Friday morning and was told that having recalls worked on is done on a first come, first served basis and that the appointment I made, was no good. "If I had shown up for my scheduled appointment time, they would have turned me away." Nobody had bothered to call and I was told that it was because if the service guy doesn't check his email on time, he doesn't see that the person has made an appointment. I tried speaking to someone about getting an appointment but was shot down, because "their service department doesn't work that way." I was told that I would have to drop my car off and they would get to it when they could. The problem is that I work at a place that opens at 6:30am, closes after 6:30pm, and requires me to be there at 9pm sometimes. Their shuttle is useless to me as it does not operate during those times. And currently, my roommate is out of the state. I was told I would have to wait for her to get back and bring my car in when she could give me a ride. No one tried to work with me about getting an appointment, even though it would take a very short amount of time to check out those recalls. Sadly, this is the only Chevy dealership in a 30 minute radius. I've highly considered going to Caldwell in order to work with someone else.
Service department review- Very pleased. Made an appointment, dropped my car off for warranty work, got a called a couple hours later the same day, car was fixed and ready to go.
I didn't find what I was looking for here unfortunately so I did not make a purchase, but I found myself repeatedly saying in my search around dealerships if I could just take their awesome salesman Omar at Chevrolet and have him sell me this car over here instead of this guy, it'd be awesome.
My 23 year old daughter worked hard and diligently to purchase her a used yet DEPENDABLE car for herself. She explained her financial situation and her need for a dependable car as she didn t want to be stuck alone on the side of the roadway with a baby. Within 24 hours of driving the car starting acting weird so daughter called salesman immediately. The problems continued to escalate and she was back up there the following Monday, within 72 hours of said purchase. At this time she was told by the salesman that she would have wait until the 18 for her extended warranty to cover the repairs. While waiting until the 18 the problems continued to escalate, car has now been dying while going and almost gotten her rear ended several times. When she went back up there as instructed on the 18 she was then notified her extended warranty didn t cover the issue. This AM I am left to feel grateful as my daughter and granddaughter could have been seriously hurt or worse as the car stalled going 55 mph with a loaded down gravel truck behind her. As a mother I thank God for putting his arms around my babies and for the truck driver who very attentively got his loaded down truck in the shoulder to avoid hitting my daughter in the rear end. The manner in which Tom Lite has treated my daughter and her situation is inexcusable to say the least. I am thankful to be writing this review and not a eulogy. Being in the customer service industry I would never be able to practice with the lack of customer service, compassion or care that this car has and is a major safety issue that has put her life in danger on multiple occasions. Tom Lite s has no empathy, refuses to help her in any fashion or form even after talking her into buying the extended warranty. To you Mr. Manager I ask, how are you going to feel if something tragic happens to my daughter and granddaughter, how will you be able to sleep at night? What if this was your daughter, wife or mother? I pray no one ever takes advantage of you the way your dealership has and continues to treat my daughter.
The service department is a joke. I scheduled an appointment to handle a current recall on my car but when I brought my car into the dealership I found out that they never ordered the part necessary for my recall. Now I will have to come back on a later date to finally solve what should have already been handled. Along with this disorganization, the cashier who checked me out was incompetent. When I walked up to her window, she had to take out ear buds and get off of her phone. She asked me for my last name and when I gave it to her she couldn't find my paper work. She continued to blame the problem on me, saying that I gave her my first name instead of my last name. When I corrected her, she then insisted it was the service consultant's fault for how he filled out the paper work. Over all my experience with Tom Light Chevrolet's service department was disappointing. Over priced parts and labor, lack of motivation to be at work, and a waste of my time.
Fixed my issues but their attitudes made it seem like I was inconveniencing them just by my being there. I'll travel the extra half hour to Allen Samuels or Caldwell Country next time.
Good service overall, but somewhat condescending staff. They seemed to expect a lot of knowledge about the vehicle that if I knew, I wouldn't need to bring it in. Great shuttle driver though.
Tera Blake, Service Consultant at Tom Light Chevrolet, was very helpful by providing an estimate months before I actually had the service performed & arranging a ride to & from the dealership. She is accommodating, professional, & friendly. Very good experience.
Recently bought a 2009 Silverado ltz from this dealership. They where quick to try and throw me in the truck even before I was even sure I wanted it then when I get it checked out I find numerous problems and so I call 2 days later and they tell me sorry u already bough the truck all we can do is trade it in .i said do WHAT I've only had the truck two days is there anything u can do and there response was sorry but other than trading it in no.... Also they claimed they did all of these get ready sevices like oil change, air filter ,belt ,wipers and, mirror . Upon further investigation I find that they've not only did not change the oil but did not change the engine mount air filter or wiper blades , the transmission needs to be replaced has major oil leaks that they cleaned up balljoints wore out and number of other things moral of the story check every vehicle use that you get from the slot they seem crooked and seam in a hurry to try to throw you in a vehicle
I have purchased multiple vehicles from Tom Light Chevrolet, as has most of my family and our business throughout the years. On every occasion we have been treated respectfully and with a caring attitude. They are able to listen to your needs and work within your budget to find a vehicle that fits you. Larry Terrell is an excellent Sales Representative and knows how to take care of his customers. For this reason I always refer friends and family to Larry. Also, if for some reason you ever need to speak with an owner, they are always readily available, as they are still locally owned!
I went in just to see a friend, and Christopher (Chris) Terrell was impressionable enough to get my attention. He was able to put my wife in exactly what she needed, and the process didn't take long at all. I appreciate Chris, Alex Aguilar and the whole Tom Light Chevrolet Staff for everything they did for my wife and I. Thanks again. Customer for life.
I bought the used car in here. It has some problems when I stop the car and it did not have cup holder. It makes my car looked broken.
So, dealer said they can provide cup holder with discount price and they can fix my car with cheap price. But I can not get cup holder. And also they tried to fix my car but failed and recommend that I can go to Ford. At this time, I paid 40$ with nothing.
I am still said about this. Don't go to the chev in College station. They don't care after selling the car.
The cable connecting my gear shift and transmission (?) broke and imy car needed to be towed to Tom Light dealership on a Friday afternoon. I thought I would have to rent a car for my weekend plans out of town but Mike in the service department managed to get me in and out of there in a couple of hours. I'm thrilled!
All roads due lead to Tom Light Chevrolet!!! This is the 2nd time We've gotten a vehicle through them. We went last week to trade in my Chevy Cruze and wanted a Chevy Trax. We went to the same sales rep Quade Philbeck and he was able to make it happen for us again! I can't say enough about the amazing staff there at Tom Light. The finance manager Luke Holland was very thorough in going over the contract. He is very friendly and down to earth. Quade knows his business when it comes to cars. We told him what we were looking for and what we could put down with the trade in and just like that, we were approved for a 2020 Chevy Trax! Thank you Tom Light Chevrolet!!!
Louse at the service desk is really helpful and i highly recommend. i will always go there as long thee are good people like him there to serve. Thanks
Dealership seems to be cutting corners in the service area. AC was barely working and it was very warm in the waiting room. Their WiFi used to work but has not worked the last two times I was there. An employee told me they turned off customer access, because it was bogging down their own use, but that does not seem to be the reason, because the WiFi still shows up on my phone and laptop; it's just that after you connect to it, it is useless.
We just bought our second Traverse from them and had a great experience. Octavio was our Salesman and he did a great job. Seth got us the exact financing we wanted. We felt comfortable during the whole process.
Friendly and helpful staff. Knowledgeable and catered to our needs. The folks made us feel at home and made it a pleasurable experience! Thanks y all and GIG EM!
I had an excellent experience with Tom Light Chevrolet. They have a terrific group of people to make your next vehicle purchase hassle-free. I would definitely buy from them again.
Initially that day a well mannered and professional employee called me to schedule an appointment-he was warm and willing to help even after I told him my credit was not all good..he did not change..So I scheduled ..Philip Culp called to confirm my appointment. I arrived P Culp came out and was so efficient and accurate and professional...I can go on and on..After taking my app..Another professional and friendly face arrived to talk with me..After receiving news all was well..Last but not least the finance manager friendly and professional sealed the deal..These were their normal ways of acting..nothing fake.. I TOLD MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS GO THERE IF YOU WANT AN EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE AND OF COURSE A CAR OR TRUCK....Thank you all from the bottom of my !!!!! Kgonzales
never shop from this place don't trust them world. it is frustrating after week taking with them and make appointment I drove all way from Hoston to Brayn,tx with my wife and kid the buy car from them they have calling me everyday making sure I am coming till day ten minutes befor I get to the dealership they called me saying the car is on hold I talk to the manager and he just gave bunch of excuses and blam me for everything and while I called me two time since I start heading them way to give them arrival time.
Sales staff was very helpful. We drove from Houston to get an Equinox and they were extremely responsive with what they had in stock and fair with the price. The team stayed late working out our financing options and everyone was friendly. I ll be making the drive again in the Spring of 2018 to buy another vehicle from them. It seems there are plenty of mixed reviews but I didn t experience one negative element at Tom Light Chevrolet dealership. Bryce was my salesman and he was very professional and knowledgeable.
I was offered a fair deal on both my trade-in and for the car I bought. My salesman Clint even gave some good advice on spray-in bed liners versus bed mats as he himself is a truck owner. I financed over 5 years and wanted an extended warranty to cover the whole financing period. Luke, the F&I manager, was patient with me and walked me through the whole process. It was a pleasure to do business with this dealership. No hidden fees and it was a very open and honest process. I would highly recommend to friends and family that they buy their next car from Tom Light Chevrolet.
I purchased (with cash) a used car in January of 2014. Before I purchased it I requested the window switch be replaced (it has to be pushed hard instead of lifted up to roll window up) and was told it could be. But when I went back 2 weeks later to get my tags and to have it fixed I was told the issue didn't make the window inoperable and they couldn't fix it. I also mentioned at this time that the passenger floor board was wet, and was told that the previous owner was a personal friend of one of the salespeople and had not had any issues, so someone must have "spilled" something, it would dry. Every time it rains my floorboard gets soaked and today my key broke off IN THE IGNITION. When I called the service department to get a quote I was put on a cycle of holds for 15 min at which time I hung up. I would not buy another car here if it was 50% off retail!
Open your eyes people! These amazing "5 Star" reviews are all perfect, all written in the same style and all within a couple of weeks of each other. 9 satisfied customers in the last 2 weeks of August last year, then none since... well damn, that seems legit.
If you want a new Chevy, I highly recommend a drive to Hearne.
Amazing! Amazing! Service. Robert Brown at Tomlight is the guy you want in your corner! Amazing service, awesome attitude, and great guy all around. I went to dealerships all around town and didn't think twice before going back to Robert and making my purchase with him before the rest!
From the get go the salesman didnt seem like he wanted to sale a car. Sounds strange, I know. We purchased a car from here about 3 years ago and the place was AMAZING, that's why we went back even though its 3 hours from home. We will go somewhere else when we are ready to purchase.
Extremely not happy with the service. Have had to take my 2015 Colorado in numerous times and the problem will never get fixed the first time. Have had to escalate issues to GM and OnStar for issues with module because service would not replace the module the first time. It took Executive Relations to tell them to order the new module for it to get fixed.
My left turn signal was rapidly blinking and showing on message screen in truck (right signal was normal) and all they said was that it "works just fine". Come to find out they didn't even bother to look at it. I ended up popping the housing lamp off myself with a Philips head and saw it was just a loose wire. A perk of purchasing a NEW chevy with still only 16k is that I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PERFORM MAINTENANCE MYSELF. All they did was flick the turn signal lever and call it an "assessment".
I don't even want to get into the issues with my wife's 2013 chevy sonic. You go in for an oil change and drive out with the steering wheel shaking out of control. They told me I needed to go pay for my own balancing, even though they were the ones that rotated the tires and caused the shaking. And that's just one of many issue with that car.
In all, I wont even take my truck back here anymore unless its something powertrain. I don't even want the free oil changes from here anymore. Too much of a headache to get service from workers who will only scratch the surface and not look deep into deficiencies. But hey, at least the reps are friendly and put up with my PTSD, so Ill give a star for that.
Our car transmission went out on the way from Fort Worth to College Station and these guys are awesome!! Car was ready in 3 days! Was told could take up to 2 weeks. Pleasant employees and awesome service!
Good car buying experience, but very poor service and parts department. I called about getting a replacement part for my truck. The guy put me on hold to finish his conversation about a TV show with his coworker. I guess he forgot to put me on mute. What a lazy SOB! Y'all need to fix your people. Also, my wife was interested in buying a new Tahoe Z71, but nobody ever got back with us. You'd think for someone interested in a 60k+ vehicle they'd call you back. Nope! Taking business elsewhere!
Last week, I decided to go look at the new Camaros. They're supposedly amazing cars, per multiple auto reviews and magazines. I am 24, a young professional, and I currently drive a car that is similar in cost to a new Camaro.
It took me 10 minutes of walking around the lot and the showroom to get help, only to be offered help after making eye contact with a salesperson, who reluctantly got out of his seat and took me to look at the Camaros.
Keep in mind, I was not buying that day unless they were to take me into the office and make me some outstanding deal. I asked to drive a Camaro, and the salesman flat-out refused, saying he would need to do a CREDIT CHECK just to even test drive the car. I pointed at my car, which I bought new 4 months ago, and said "that should be credit check enough." The salesman (I wish I would've gotten his name) said no, we couldn't drive one then.
Needless to say, I will not be looking to purchase a new Camaro from Tom Light Chevolet. I don't appreciate being profiled as a "young kid who wants to joy ride," and I certainly value my credit more than letting some small town car dealership ruin it with inquiries that are not necessary whatsoever. It's a Camaro, not a special-ordered Z06. If Tom Light values their business, then they'll discourage these types of tactics. Shameful.
Will not recommend this dealership to anyone . Lied to by every one spoke to, from sales department. Management included. Complete waist of time. Weather your a cash buyer or needing financing please go somewhere else. This dealership has no respect for your time nor financial wellness. Would not have given the one star rating, but had to to make this post
The salesman was fine but Luke in the financial department wasn't so much because we wasn't going through their finances. He wanted to argue that we couldn't put truck in our name and our sons Finance Company carry was going to carry the note for son. Since our kids are paying for it for our Anniversary. Had to make 150 mile extra trip to get it fixed the way our son wanted it. First time there and will be our last. Oh almost forgot to add. We didn't even get a jack with our truck and no windshield wiper fluid. Their make ready department isn't up to stuff. The truck wasn't very clear on the outside either.
I have been to Tom Light Chevy several times for oil changes and battery replacement. This most recent time, I took my car in because I am going on a 1300+ mile road trip and wanted to make sure my car (a 2008 Equinox) was safe for the drive. I explained my situation to the service advisor, Cole, and he was so diligent and professional, and he went above and beyond to make sure that everything in my car was thoroughly looked at. I had a list of 10 things that I wanted to check, and he and the tech, Hayden McMurray, were amazing and were able to get to everything I asked about. They were honest about things that didn't need to be replaced or done, and they even noticed that my front hub hearing was very worn, a problem that I wouldn't even think to ask about but would have caused serious problems during the trip. Cole was extremely thorough and patient in explaining everything to me. I sincerely appreciate all the help that Cole and Tom Light Chevy gave me, and I feel a lot better about making such a long trip!
Hilarie in the service department provided excellent customer service. I called on a Monday morning needing help and she arranged a time convenient for me. The service department diagnosed and fixed my problem.
BUYER BEWARE!!! DO NOT COME HERE!!! Do not take your business to a dealership who cares very little about customer service. My interaction with management was painful. I purchased a leased vehicle and after my least matured I turned that vehicle back in. I wanted to buy another car from them but after the horrible service I received from this local dealer I just wanted to turn in my vehicle and be done with this company forever. I will NEVER go back to this local dealership ever again. My brother had issues with this place and I had my reservations but I have it the benefit of the doubt but never again. Just take your business down the road to the one in Hearne or go a dealership who values customer satisfaction like Douglass Nissan.
In the past 18 years my family has bought 6 vehicles from Tom Light Chevrolet. Each experience has been fantastic! The sales staff is very helpful and they were able to get us the best deal possible every time. Recently we took our '07 Suburban to Tom Light to get the A/C serviced. The Suburban had to stay over night and without asking, Cole, the service manager, gave us a 2015 Equinox with no charge! Love Tom Light Chevrolet and will continue to buy all of our Chevrolet's from them for years to come!
Prompt service. Even during this pandemic. Had an appointment for 2, but I had to drop it off early at around 12:30 to get some things done for company coming. They called with it finished at 2:25. I was very pleased, and the fact that the oil change cost half of what places charge was just icing on the cake!
I went in to Tom Light JUST looking for a vehicle within 5 minutes I already knew which vehicle I wanted. The salesman Bryan was really helpful and Mr. Light himself is a amazing guy. If and when I do buy another vehicle it will be from this dealership
I took my 2014 Corvette to the Chevrolet dealership to have the air dam in the lower front replaced ( a simple job just bolting on a few bolts) and an oil change. When I arrived to pick it up, I looked at the bottom of the front quarter panel to see the fiberglass was busted and white powder flaking off. When someone who I assumed was the service manager was summoned, he just said 'Fix it and get him something to drive'. (He never introduced himself or spoke to me.) The only person involved who seemed to care was the porter who drove the car back and forth - never so much as a word from the manager or even a 'Sorry' from management. They kept the car to repair, ( I think it was about a $1,000 repair job but that ticket was kept from me also) and I was told they did not have any cars for me to use for that long. I picked it up the next week repaired. This was my 5th Corvette over 30 years and I was hoping to keep this one undamaged. ( I originally tried to order it from this dealership where I live, but they were exactly $10,000 more than the dealership I ordered it from.) While I was sick that they damaged it, I know things happen, and I would have accepted it if they had an honest and customer-friendly attitude.(The cover-up is usually worse than the crime.) If I had not seen it, I would have driven away with no way to prove to them that they damaged my car, since they did not self-report anything. Luckily I discovered it before they passed it off to me without saying a word. I have now given this place several chances for my business, and I will take all further work to the GMC dealer across the highway, where they provide great personal service for my wife's Cadillac.
I had my first 'bad' experience at my last visit, but it was resolved quickly and courteously, so I'm still giving a 4 star rating, because the guys at Tom Light have always treated me very well, especially Cole and Alex.
I receive too much information after the fact. I complained of my tires wearing and when questioned I was informed a tire rotation does not include balancing. Therefore the tires went 14,000 miles and were not balanced. I had previously taken my truck in with excessive wind noise.....after keeping my truck all day I was informed that it was acceptable noise level. The next day I took the truck to my local body shop and the guy corrected the problem in less that 5 minutes with a screwdriver.....he didn't even charge me. I did not purchase the extended warranty the dealer was pushing and I bought GM extended warranty so it looks like I will have the go to another tow when/if the truck needs repair. Not a satisfied customer.
If I could rate less than zero I would do so. Bought a used car from them, ran fine for around the block test drive. Was told it had was had always been maintained at the dealer. Signed the paper work, drove about 10 miles and brakes started sticking on. Finally got it home called the dealer and the sales rep said he would check on it. A week later still no word. Woke up next morning, to find the inside of the car flooded, heater core was damaged and leaking. Over 2 thousand dollars in repairs and had not driven it 100 miles yet. Called the manager and was told there is nothing they can do it is as is no warranty.
I'd give it 0 stars but not an option. Worst customer service ever. Chris dial at Tom light Chevy told me he did not want to work on my truck they don't deal w theft recoveries and that it would b very expensive and I asked what his justification was tip not wanting my business and he was not helpful in explaining y he wouldn't have my vehicle towed there or help fix my vehicle. I told him it was not a recovery that I already had my vehicle but the thief sabatoged my vehicle and when I stopped and turned it off it wouldn't start back up. I told him my situation and after repeated attempts to understand y he couldn't work on it and after he said well if u insist let me get a pen and paper and I'll take ur information. I said I'm not insisting on anything if u don't want my business I will take it elsewhere.. This was after he asked if my Insurance was paying for it and I said no That I would and he didn't want anything 2 do w it and Just kept telling me how expensive it would be to fix it and he didn't want to. Had me so upset wondering why Chevy wouldn't help fix my Chevy that I was crying on the phone w him. I've already been through enough looking for my stolen vehicle for almost a year and I finally get it back to have the thief hurt me more. Horrible horrible customer service that I wouldn't expect from a Chevy dealership. What are they there for if not to fix cars for their customers? I paid almost 40k for my truck maybe I should switch to a Ford.
