NOT EVEN ONE STAR

NEVER AGAIN!

We were given the completely wrong information about our Chihuahua. He was hit on the head and had a LARGE bump and was so swollen. He then went through seizures that night which is why we went here. We were told over and over and over a TRAUMA could NOT cause seizures.

We were then told we should go to a neurological center since theirs was on vacation.

We considered placing our Chihuahua on anti seizure medication right away, or putting him down since the trauma repeatedly asked and then received the response with - ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Our Chihuahua is older and has a small heart problem as well, never once had a seizure before this incident. We just wanted our poor thing out of pain. We were told that SHE WOULD NOT FROWN UPON US PUTTING HIM DOWN.

My mother and I were there for countless hours trying to figure out what was best for our baby. The poor thing did not have any seizures while there, but had at least 6 or so before we arrived. We truly were considering putting him down just because he looked like he was in so much pain.

I asked if we could have an emergency shot to stop a seizure if we took him home. We got one (THANK GOD) and left hours and hours later. Next morning my mom took him to the local vet. He looked right at him and said the poor thing is so swollen and in pain. And our vet said the seizures most definitely were from the bump on the head. Our vet then gave us the right medication and he is doing a million times better.

I then wanted to talk to the staff about what happened. My mom and I both called and sent e-mails back in December and we were told that the head honcho was going to talk to the girl who helped us and get right back to me ASAP... still nothing. UNPROFESSIONAL!

Way overpriced & nasty. Spent 7,000 dollars No diagnosis & my precious dog died. They did every test one could imagine just to cause the bill to be higher. I will Never bring a pet there again they have No compassion for pet or owner.

The doctor that saw us basically did the barest minimum at the highest expense. Went to 2 other vets the next day who totally disagreed with their course of action. Had I listened to their advice, my kitten would be dead. Definitely don't waste your time or money here.

Extraordinary vet care and compassion. We have a large dog (briard, 12 years old) and a small dog (miniature dachshund, 17). Large dog had liver cancer approximately 6 years ago and small dog had very large cancerous mast cell tumor over two years ago. Both dogs survived without additional radiation or chemotherapy.

We are so incredibly lucky that someone recommended us this clinic. Our cat had an emergency and the care that was given to him was incredible. Dr.Coogan took him away in her arms like it was her own cat (I don't think anyone non-parent More

Had an incredible experience dealing with AERA.

Had an incredible experience dealing with AERA.

Our puppy was stricken with an extremely rare bone disease called Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy, which was causing him lameness, extreme pain, and high fever. We had previously brought him to our vet and he was not properly diagnosed.

After about 3 minutes of examining him, Dr. Coogan made the immediate and correct diagnosis, which is impressive considering the rarity of this disease. Our pup was treated immediately and spent 6 days at AERA. The team of techs and vets led by Dr. Johnson provided him the extensive care he required, did it warmly and with affection for him, and were patient and extremely considerate with us, calling each day to give us any updates, answering the same nervous questions we repeatedly posed and assuring us that he was in the best hands.

HOD is a disease that can caise permanent damage if left untreated in a case as severe as presented in our puppy. Thanks to AERA's skillful, competent treatment, our puppy will grow to be a healthy adult dog. We are forever greatful and wouldn't hesitate to enthusiastically recommend AERA to anyone in need of an emergency vet, or anyone with an animal suffering from a rare, undiagnosed/misdiagnosed condition.

The only drawback to this experience was that they are quite costly, but when it comes to medical care you tend to get what you pay for. We still use our regular vet but have AERA on speed dial for emergency situations.

Thank you so much AERA! From Sulla and the Eckrich family.

I think the staff could use some more training. I picked up my 2yr old Rottie who was there fore MRI and spinal tap for seizures. Get there and the tech comes out with my dog full of eye boogies and hands me a bag with his new meds. Did not take the meds out and review with me until i requested. When i asked when was his last dosage, she had to go back inside to get his chart. When i asked when was his last bowel movement, she didn't know. Regardless of the fact i just spent 5k+ or even if it was 500, the staff could have presented him better and been more prepared to go over his medication. Scary knowing she was watching my baby.

This tech definitely needs some more training. Front staff could be a little more friendly as well and not just focus on collecting payments. Nobody wants to be at the hospital. It's stressful and nerve racking.

This Emergency Room is EXCELLENT. Dr. Justin Strauss and the staff at this EMERGENCY Hospital are extremely helpful and to the point. The reviews of this business DO NOT reflect the hospital at all. I dropped my 18 month old French Bulldog, by recommendation of my Primary Vet, to remove a foreign object stuck in his stomach. He was constantly regurgitating eating and not going to the bathroom. Upon arriving at the Hospital we were immediately admitted and had our pup on an IV for fluids being that he was dehydrated as well as medication to try and have his stomach empty. He was observed for the night and went for a procedure the next morning to see if they can extract the object, which was too big to pull out. I had seen the X-Ray before at my Primary Vet first and the blockage in the stomach was unable to be determined. The procedure was to see if the object can be broken up and removed without surgery and it was not. After the surgery they produced what they removed and it was ENORMOUS. Upon picking him up Dr. Strauss was handling a CARDIAC ARREST EMERGENCY, and we were waiting for about an hour before were were able to speak with him. Our pup is home safe and back to normal recovering. Dr. Strauss was very nice and informative once he had his patient stabilized and I wouldn't expect any less.

PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ROOM, NOT A REGULAR VETERINARIANS OFFICE. THEY ARE PRICEY AND VERY RUSHED AT TIMES BUT WOULD YOU EXPECT TO PAY THE SAME IN AN ER AS YOUR PRIMARY DOCTOR. NO. But they staff their ER with 24 HOUR EMERGENCY STAFF. They are very professional and informative. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my pets there again or in the future.

THANK YOU TO THE STAFF AND DOCTORS AT the Animal Emergency and Referral Associates.

The techs and support staff at AERA are incredible, but -- with the exception of one doctor -- the veterinary staff were cold, clinical and seemed to be working off a checklist. We were fast-talked into invasive surgery (and a $15k bill) that exacerbated our cat's medical condition when we should have been offered palliative care to ease her into her final days. Overall, I was deeply disappointed and am still struggling with the agony our cat faced before she passed. Do your research and be your pet's best advocate.

We had to put our dog to sleep in an emergency situation. They gave us the most incredible service and care for our little Bella. Thank you to the entire staff for being extremely professional and helpful during a very difficult time. We are lucky to have this place so close to home in an emergency.

These people saved my dogs Kody s life. I can t thank them enough. They are literally a full blown hospital. They may be expensive, but they have top shelf doctors, and state of the art equipment. If your pet is like a part of the family and has an emergency they will know how to save their life.

Yes, it was expensive. But we felt like our cat had top notch care while at AER. Dr. Strauss was very quick to return our calls and was very available to us. Dr. Strauss also saved us money by checking for alternative causes of our cat's issue before performing an expensive treatment (that it turns out would not have solved the problem). They (both Dr. Strauss and all of the staff) were also incredibly considerate when we had to euthanize the cat due to aggressive cancer. I hope not to have to go back to AER but if I do, I know my animals will have the highest quality care.

Rushed my maltipoo due to vomiting & not himself on Sunday afternoon. Staff was attentive and responsive. Although very busy with other cases coming in, Dr Scelba answered all my questions as we discussed treatment options. I called early the next morning and was given an update by the overnight dr. My little guy is home doing well. I highly recommend AERA! Thank you all!

If your pet needs a neurologist, take him/her elsewhere!
Zero stars!!!!
The neurologist on staff, Dr. Massicotte, is there not to help your pet but for the money! She took one look at my dog and decided he needed immediate surgery. She handed me a hefty estimate which I said I couldn't afford. That's the last bit of real conversation I had with her. She ended up keeping my dog for 3 days and 2 nights - for a huge price tag.
She "calls" owners once a day: you better pick up her call when she calls you, or she'll let you know she's pissed. Oh and she has an untold 3 minutes 3 questions limit per conversation! And she discourages any visit. Too bad if you're interested in knowing more about your pet.
She wasn't there when I picked up my dog, and the lovely ER vet who tried to answer my questions seemed as frustrated by Dr. Massicotte's lack of care as I did.
It was written in the notes by Dr. Massicotte that my dog was able to pee on his own; false: he was incontinent - not exactly the same thing.
I was invoiced for X-rays - none were actually taken! I repeatedly asked for the results of these X-rays, but two techs told me separately there was nothing in the files. Oh and it's written on the notes to my regular vet that no tests were performed due to financial concerns...
After his release, I called twice because my dog was reacting badly to the loads of meds she had prescribed - Dr. Massicotte never bothered to call me back.
I tried to reach the manager - to no avail.
Oh and by the way - my dog - who Dr. Massicotte claimed was not to be saved without this expensive surgery - is walking again after only two sessions of chiropractic/ cold laser treatments with a caring vet!
So my suggestion to you if you unfortunately need a neurologist for your pet: run away from this place as fast as you can!!!

I can not express how I feel! My Athena was very sick. I know my Athena was not the only one that was sick. Dr.Stein made me feel like she was the only one. I can t thank you enough for treating my baby Athena as she was your own. You and the staff are amazing. I can t thank you enough.

I came to Dr. Levine and her assistant Deb after months of searching for someone to help with my reactive dog. They're over an hour away from me but I was desperate for help. $800 later I got Prozac, a game to play with my dog (find it!), and I was told to avoid growling situations. Big shocker! I'm not a behaviorist but I figured that out with a quick Google search and the reasoning was much more in depth than what I received at this office.

In addition I was told I would be charged $140 for a follow-up over the phone by Deb, went to the office and was charged almost $350. I mentioned to Deb that she had told me the wrong rate and I didn't even get a "Sorry I was mistaken" instead I got an acknowledgement that she did say it would be less and then a blank stare as to why I was questioning that it was more.

Despite all of this I still intended to use the office, because I can understand people making mistakes, but then Dr. Levine was out of the office and no one on staff could send a fax to my boarding facility saying that my dogs were okay together. I spent $800 on behavior assessments and couldn't get a one sentence fax saying the dogs wouldn't kill each other.

I'm never going back. Customer service sucks and rates are high! If you want a behaviorist try Dr. Peter Borschelt, can't write as too his treatment yet but he is very responsive which is already one step in the right direction and his rates are lower. I believe it's about $600 which covers the entire treatment plan whether it's 2 hours or 10 follow-ups.

Felt like I was asking to many questions for the neurologist. She would get unsettled every time I had a concern. Seems like she didn t have much patience for dog moms like me that worry to much. When it came down to the bill it was a lot higher then I expected. I questioned why it was so much. She got upset and said I was told the total. I told her she explained to me the breakdown for the 2 choices I had and that one of the exams wasn t on the list of what I chose. She then got upset and walked out talking out loud and yelling for all of the staff and other customers waiting in the room to hear about how she was upset and talking about me while I sat in the room listening. I thought that was VERY unprofessional on her part to do. She walks back in and turns it into a charity case saying because she cares about the dog she will not charge one of the exams. I couldn t get any more answers from her and I had to walk out with little questions answered about my dog. I will never go back there again.

I had an absolute awful experience here and it s not the first time. Dr. Bell is rude, condescending and not compassionate. My dog and I were put in a triage room early since he is such high energy. I m fairly certain we were forgotten about. He had wounds that were triaged but not fully seen. Dr. Ilardi was helpful to us and our triage technician was very nice. There is an overall lack of compassion there. I have had bad experiences there before and can truly say I ll never go back. I only gave one star because that is the lowest you can choose.

My York was sick. After a lot of test they said he had congestive heart failure and no.meds.could.be given. They said he needed a pacemaker but he had a collapsing trachea that could collapse a month from now a year. Another surgery would be needed eventually. He gave us the option of putting him down. When you hear a vet say that you think the dog will live suffering. He also said the stent for.the trachea is an invasive procedure. He put a lot of pressure to make decision in an hour. He said because my dog was suffering. I wanted to.get a 2nd opinion but he made it seemed so urgent and like he couldn'tleave hospital without treatment bc he was suffering.

We put him down. Later for whatever reason I ran Into a veterinary friend of a friend. Yes dogs can be given medication for congestive heart failure and pacemakers are done all the time. With quick recovery. The stent procedure for the trachea is not invasive.
I feel like a murderer.

I called because my dog decided she wanted some chocolate. They said to monitor her but that she would be fine and I didn't need to bring her in.

When I brought my sick cat to them several months ago, they treated him with care. Eventually he passed away, but they were very caring and I am glad they are available.

Wish there was an option of no stars instead of one....then I'd put 0 stars!
Firstly, I apologize if this sounds dramatic, but I'm very upset and everything I say is all true...no exaggerations either.

Worst hospital ever!! Dr. Strauss is one of the worst and rudest doctor I have ever met, and I have met and seen plenty (my maltese suffers from liver shunt, kidney stones, blindness, and more- but my baby is a fighter and we were told he wouldn't past 3 months and he's 7 years old with the help of God!!).

Back to the review....after Dr. Justin H. Strauss learning that I was not willing to allow my dog to be experimented with and pay thousands of dollars, he was so rude, didn't want to talk, and even cursed at me!! I was furious!! And the front desk...forget about it, I don't even want to go there!!

And when I sent to get him (i did not call to let them know i was on my way) The front desk called the back end to get him...i heard him scream really loud (yes I know my dog's bark and cries) and when he came back he was all wet, and mute!! Just imagining what had happened gives me chills! Most likely he had poop allover and she rushed to wash it off before i saw him. Because he is blind, he sometimes steps on his poop if I'm not home and that gets him sick- I'm pretty sure any one would be sick. But he's suppose to be check on constantly especially with the fact that my dog went there because of respiratory issues and knowing he wasn't breathing right, you'd think he was being checked enough times...obviously NOT!! I also specifically told them that my dog had a special diet, including no meat and sure enough they fed him hotdogs!! Worst meat to eat! And of course, my dog was sick. Can you imagine mixing hot dogs and dog poop to a sick dog!?!?

I would never take my dogs there again! BE WARNED...and don't make this mistake! (Unless you are extremely rich and have money to throw in the air...and if the doctors know that, you'd probably get the perfect treatment and your dog will be given the best care ever) -____- But I'm pretty sure that's not the case to many, including myself.

The Vet and staff were extremely helpful and kind When I brought my Pup Little Girl there Sunday 6/14 night. My Pup was suffering from two separate cancers and the Vet and I agreed it was time for my girl to leave via euthanasia. Because of the damn plague the place (like most) is being run with pets being taken from parents outside and communicating via phone. They made an exception for me to be inside with my Pup. It made all the difference to me. I don't know if I could have gone through with it without being with my girl. I have a long (11 years) history with these folks as both my pups (from the same litter) were born deaf, nearly blind and with other health issues. I trust this organization completely.

Pricey, but they fixed my cockapoo on Christmas Day and were very professional and thorough. She had a reoccurrence of Anaplasmosis and would not walk on her front paw. They diagnosed her right away and x-rayed her foot to be sure of the diagnosis. Unfortunately, this diagnosis would have cost 1/2 the price at my vet, but there is a cost to convenience.

Rushed my cat there in Jan. He was having trouble breathing. Turned out he had Cancer in his mouth and nose. They let me have all the time I needed with him and let me hold him while they put him to sleep. That meant so much to me, He was 23. Viper was his name.

Unfortunately I have had very poor experiences with this animal hospital on multiple occasions. Most recently i brought my dog in for a hurt paw which he could not put weight on. After about an hour and two x-rays we were told by the vet that there seemed to be no breaks or serious injuries and to just take him home to rest. She did however point out a spot to us that she said was arthritis and commented on how odd that was given how young he is. (he is 3.5 years old and 140lbs so getting him to the vet was no easy task). $600 and NO SOLUTION later we were on our way home. They did not give him a splint or pain meds - just sent us on our way. Now after sending the xray to our vet and a real vet radiologist we have found out that the spot that was said to be "arthritis" is actually a fracture and probable ligament tear. Which will require surgery. Our poor dog has been suffering for almost a week now because this hospital is doing an extremely poor job doing their jobs. Although i had had other poor experiences here i figured i would give it another shot - but after this i will never return to this hospital and will tell everyone that i know to do the same.

If you love your companion animal, this is the best place for advanced medical care. Their specialists are devoted and top notch. My dog just finished chemo; the oncologist is amazing. (Dog came out with a bandanna that says Wagging for a Cure!) Internal medicine is astonishing in the scope of diagnosis and care--I wish they could be my doctors. The surgeons , neurologist and orthopedist are superb--over the course of many years, I have needed them all. You cannot do better if you can afford it. Note that the Emergency Care doctors are perhaps not on the same level; I suspect they are young and still learning.

I took my dog here on a Sunday for emergency services. God how I wish I had taken him to Paramus instead. He died within three hours and these people think that charging $1600 is perfectly ok. The original overnight estimated bill was $1370. I was told the bill would be adjusted to $527 since he was only there for 2 1/2 hours, instead, $527 was added to my bill. I'm so furious. I called trying to get the issue resolved, I spoke to the doctor that initially saw my dog and was told that it didn't matter what the front desk person said. What?! So basically, I was bs'd so I would leave without arguing. Wow. Just wow.

Our dog tore his ACL and we had a procedure done at another local vet which our dog didnt recover well from and did not get better. We brought him here to AERA and Dr. Hunt is amazing. He took the time to explain all of the procedures and which one he recommeded and why, he also explained why the first surgery was not successful and how this one would be different. Their post op videos and instructions are great and we have learned a lot. This recovery was a lot more enjoyable and less taxing on our dog than the first vet we went to. I highly recommend Dr. Hunt for any orthopedic surgeries. Our dog is recovering nicely and we are optimistic of his upcoming 2 month check in.

Our Ella tore her ACL, and her vet referred us to AERA. Dr. Hunt was great and we got in on the ground floor for a procedure that would take less down time and the company that provided the piece of equipment that would be inserted paid half the cost. Unfortunately, she tore the other ACL and will have to have surgery again.....it will cost the full price, but she is worth it to us.

Oncology department at this place is very incompetent. They prescribed aggressive chemo meds for my cat without checking if his kidney are strong enough to handle it. They already knew that he had diarrhea and dehydration for long time. If you want better treatment for your pet, go to AMC in New York City. There are enough studies online that kidney levels should be checked prior to administering adriamiycin. They never bothered to read these studies nor did they provide alternatives to us when we brought our cat to them. Shame on you for not valuing pet's life.

While our dog had two episodes of bloody stool in the waiting area, it still did not seem enough for him to be taken back to be cared for. He later threw up while roaming at the mouth and still was not able to see the doctor. As a small dog we were very concerned that he could become dehydrated. After 3 and a half hours we finally got in to see the doctor. Will never come back to this place ever again. My dogs safety and health was put in jeopardy. Many people left after being told the wait would be 4-5 hours long. We were not the only ones who seemed frustrated. Many other people stormed out. We could not afford to go to another place at the time because we did not know what was wrong with our dog.

I am so extremely disappointed with this hospital....

I am so extremely disappointed with this hospital. I had rushed my dog here from another emergency hospital because that other location was not 24/7 and was closing at 8am. I had to make a decision to either bring him to Red Bank which was an hour drive away or bring him here. I wasn't sure if he'd make the long drive so I brought him to AERA based on the good reviews. The check-in process was fine, and I was even okay with having to pre-pay for services just to try saving his life. After check-in however everything went downhill. The Dr. told me upon initial examination that my dog would need to see a cardiologist, and unfortunately theirs was unavailable at the moment. She said she would contact the cardiologist and ask if she would be able to come in as an emergency request, since my pet was in critical condition. I did not hear back from her until 6 hours later. I had called at least 3 times during that window to try and get an update, and also made it clear to the receptionist that I was trying to get a cardiologist appointment elsewhere so I needed to know whether AERA's cardiologist would be able to come in as an emergency request. By the time the doctor called me back, I had already missed every chance to get my dog to another location to get his echocardiogram done so I had no choice but to leave him here overnight since he was oxygen chamber dependent.

This was infuriating, as he was literally on the brink of death, and his condition was worsening by the hour by staying at AERA without getting the right treatment. Not only was the lack of communication from the doctor unprofessional, but so was the behavior of the receptionists. I had to literally beg for an update, and every time I called (only 3x within a 6 hour period) was told "well, we're really busy with walk-ins right now so...". How is that an acceptable response? I would understand if my dog was admitted for a broken bone, but he was in a critical state. After receiving my first update after 6 hours, it then took another 6 hours to get my 2nd update. I can't believe this is how they operate. I understand that things can get busy, but there should be more than 1-2 doctors on staff during the same shifts if they know they always get busy.

After realizing my dog would die if left him there over the weekend, I checked him out immediately and rushed him to Red Bank. The check-out process was a disaster as well. I had called 2 times prior to checking him out to let them know I'd be coming at a certain time, since it was urgent for him to be ready as soon as I arrived. Not only were they not prepared upon arrival, but after leaving the facility they still had not sent over his paperwork to the other hospital until I had to call and remind them. Guess what their response was again? "Well, I was busy with some other patients". I really trusted this place based on the reviews, but I cannot believe the horrible experience I had. I will never bring my pet here ever again or refer any of my friends and family here. My dog only survived because he left this place and got the proper diagnosis and treatment at Red Bank Animal Hospital. If you can make the drive, then definitely go there instead.

Our 9 year old mixed breed went into Adisonian Crisis and respiratory arrest in November 2010. Our local vet (Animal Care Center in Landing and Flanders, NJ) revived her and recommended AERA "STAT!" Dr. Larry Kantrowitz met us with respect, calm, compassion, sensitivity, and professionalism. He went over the plan to confirm the diagnosis, then the treatment options for recovery, the risks of residual damage, the short-term (a few nights there) and long term care. Dr. K has always made himself available. Our dog is now 13 years old and appears completely normal, with the help of bi-annual bloodwork, daily 1/4 pill Prednisone, and monthly injection of Percortin. Except for the occassional receptionist who forgets the importance and the power of a smile, the staff and Dr. K have been absolutely outstanding. I am very sorry for some of the other reviews- there is no excuse for rudeness or unprofessionalism, even when us panicked pet owners let our own emotions get in our way. We saw none of this. AERA and Dr. K are the greatest in our book!

My son and I brought our critically ill dog Casey in yesterday and we were immediately taken into an exam room where a technician asked us what happened. We explained the situation and we proceeded to the waiting area while Casey was examined and was greeted by a very kind lady at the counter so she could register Casey. About 20 minutes later, Dr. Tusa came out and discussed with us Casey's fragile state in a very calm and gentle way along with the options of proceeding with additional examination or consider euthanasia. We then decided as a family on a conference call to choose euthanasia so as not to put our dear Casey through any more potential discomfort. I want to compliment Dr. Tusa and the other staff members for their caring, gentleness, compassion, and professionalism during this very difficult time for our family. If you are looking for gentle and compassionate care, this is the place to bring your beloved pet.

Our dog Gracie had a lateral tear in her ligament. She had surgery to repair the damage at AERA and she healed completely. She had 4 or 5 followup visits to check on her progress which were all covered under the contract amount. Dr. Brophy and the staff were very pleasant to interact with and we wouldn't hesitate to use their services in the future.

I took my son's cat there. After approximately $1000. in testing, they gave the cat some fluids. Three days later we took the cat to the Veterinary Center of Morris County. They told us the cat had kidney and liver failure. We put the cat down. That visit, with all testing and everything else, only cost $357. I strongly recommend the Veterinary Center of Morris County. They seemed to know exactly what to do.

Excellent. Straightforward. Honest. Had to take my dog as he was in pain all day. The vet immediately knew what was wrong and did not suggest extra testing. He was treated and discharged in an hour. He is feeling much better today. Thank you!!

I came here on a week night because I had an emergency with my puppy. Everyone working here was super friendly and kind and calming with me. The building was very clean and organized. The doctor was very informative and sweet with me. Everyone took very good care of my puppy and I am happy I found this emergency center. Hopefully I don't get another emergency but if something did happen to any of my dogs, I would definately return here.

I can t begin to express my thanks to the staff at Animal Emergency and Referral Associates in Fairfield, for the outstanding care they provided to my dog as well as the overall experience as a pet owner. My 7 year old Welsh Corgi suddenly and rapidly lost all movement in his back legs, seemingly out of nowhere one day. I took him to AERA and he was triaged through their emergency services. The on-call Vet was thorough in her assessment and expressed empathy towards me as she explained that he would need to be seen by the Neurologist, Dr. Massicotte, in the morning for a full evaluation. Dr. Massicotte was thorough and compassionate from the moment she first evaluated my dog throughout our entire journey, which has been over six weeks at this point. My dog s MRI results showed a ruptured disc and hemorrhaging on his spine. Dr. Massicotte presented several options for treatment, provided her recommendation, but never pushed me to take any course of action. Ultimately, I opted for the surgery, which Dr. Massicotte performed wonderfully. It has been six weeks since my dog s surgery and he has progressed beautifully with a very positive prognosis for long-term recovery. From the moment he was initially evaluated, Dr. Massicotte was communicative with me as a concerned pet owner, taking the time to answer all of my questions. Also, the technician working with my dog during his immediate recovery from surgery, Patrick, was knowledgeable and compassionate each time we spoke, and took the time to take my calls in the days following the surgery. Yes, the procedure itself was expensive, but there is no price tag you can place on the life of your beloved pet. Ultimately, the care and compassion my dog received from Dr. Massicotte, the technicians, and on-call Vet has been invaluable. If you are ever in a situation that you need to visit an emergency hospital for your pet, be assured that you will receive quality care and compassion that is worth every cent you pay at AERA!

Outstanding staff! Caring, efficient and nice. INCREDIBLY expensive $$$$! I understand it costs a lot to run a 24 hour clinic and I appreciate that they are there. But $650 for a quick exam of my kitty and the decision to euthanize?!

This place is evil. Seriously. I felt it as soon as I arrived, before I even got out of the car. Avoid this place at almost any cost. They are ruthless, full of BS and only care about $$ $$ $$. They would let your pet die while they happily run one expensive test after expensive test after expensive test. At least that was my $1,200 experience. My dog didn't have to die. And they were shockingly dishonest and disgusting about a bunch of things still stuck in my nightmares. Other pet owners may have had a more positive experience there, but I'm vastly understating the devastating horror they put me though.. I would sue them if I could afford the necessary expensive lawyer, but, due to lack of remaining evidence and the small print I signed upon arrival in distress, it would be virtually impossible for me to win damages, let alone put them out of business. I'm not one to pray a lot, but I pray no pet-loving person goes through what I did there. I hope they rot for eternity, and, if there's really such a thing, I'm certain they will.

Way over priced, they try to force you into doing procedures not need will tell you your pet will die if certain things are not done just to jack up the price. Most vets who practice there is just what they do practice!!! Some very nasty, had to use them a few times only to find out I knew more than they knew. When your at your lowest and worried sick about your pet they suck as much out of you as they can. We need a caring emergency clinic in our area that does not go the bottom line MONEY. Will try the one in Randolph if I ever have to use a emergency clinic in the future. Or end up fighting `tooth and nail about getting ripped off.

I rushed my 6 month old pup Bryan to Fairfield emergency veterinarian , Bryan was having trouble breathing & started dry heaving. After getting Brian to the emergency to my shock they confirmed he had a diaphragmic hernia, his whole stomach went into his chest wall , his intestines everything was strangling his lungs. I ve never heard of such a thing ! nor did I know organs could go in to a chest wall . It mostly happens from trauma I found Bryan in the DR & knowing many dogs need adoption here. I couldn t see Brian ever having a life there he was very sick puppy when I found him ,he overcame distemper. I thought the Worst was behind us. I had him one month in the states before his diaphragm tore, when Brian arrived my vet saw him & I kept telling him I didn t like the way he was breathing and he dismissed that saying he was fine ! He wasn t fine he was actually dying slowly every day . He wouldn t eat I hand fed him so he would get something down and everyone said when he s hungry he will eat ,a dog will not starve itself . Please if you see the signs there something wrong take it further . If not for the wonderful staff at Fairfield emergency and Dr. Chris Hunt , Bryan would have died. Dr Chris Hunt is a surgeon to be admired . Dr Hunt Couldn t promise me Brian would survive surgery , like with any surgery anything could happen , but yet he brought a sense of calm over me I knew Bryan was in the right hands . And I don t calm down easy! I can t say enough about the team over at Fairfield. They saved Brian s life & for that we will for always be thankful. Brian at 6 months old has has never been able too play or eat like a puppy should. He is a special pup & deserves to run & play like other pups, Bryan is so blessed That Dr Hunt was the surgeon that performed his surgery, I seriously feel if not for Dr.Hunt Bryan wouldn t be here today. Thx U. The Giorgio s
