Christel Nonnenmacher Review of Animal Emergency & Referral as...
If your pet needs a neurologist, take him/her else...
If your pet needs a neurologist, take him/her elsewhere!
Zero stars!!!!
The neurologist on staff, Dr. Massicotte, is there not to help your pet but for the money! She took one look at my dog and decided he needed immediate surgery. She handed me a hefty estimate which I said I couldn't afford. That's the last bit of real conversation I had with her. She ended up keeping my dog for 3 days and 2 nights - for a huge price tag.
She "calls" owners once a day: you better pick up her call when she calls you, or she'll let you know she's pissed. Oh and she has an untold 3 minutes 3 questions limit per conversation! And she discourages any visit. Too bad if you're interested in knowing more about your pet.
She wasn't there when I picked up my dog, and the lovely ER vet who tried to answer my questions seemed as frustrated by Dr. Massicotte's lack of care as I did.
It was written in the notes by Dr. Massicotte that my dog was able to pee on his own; false: he was incontinent - not exactly the same thing.
I was invoiced for X-rays - none were actually taken! I repeatedly asked for the results of these X-rays, but two techs told me separately there was nothing in the files. Oh and it's written on the notes to my regular vet that no tests were performed due to financial concerns...
After his release, I called twice because my dog was reacting badly to the loads of meds she had prescribed - Dr. Massicotte never bothered to call me back.
I tried to reach the manager - to no avail.
Oh and by the way - my dog - who Dr. Massicotte claimed was not to be saved without this expensive surgery - is walking again after only two sessions of chiropractic/ cold laser treatments with a caring vet!
So my suggestion to you if you unfortunately need a neurologist for your pet: run away from this place as fast as you can!!!
