UCCU seems to be going down hill fast. I've previously thought highly of them but it seems like they are not wanting to adapt and improve and it definitely shows in in a number of areas, such as their online banking portal, their customer service, and their inability to compete for business against other credit unions or even banks. They seem to have become increasingly uptight and restrictive and mistakes are being made on a regular basis. All of my interactions over the past 2-3 years with their employees have been negative when they were easy opportunities to provide a very positive experience and build loyalty. One particular experience with a girl named Brittney and then with Todd Kelmer left me in awe of how little they would do to make things right when issues with their system led to a big miscommunication of information and an employee error. I discovered that funds were transferred by an employee of the bank (Brittney) without my authorization, then I wasn't notified about the situation until 10 days after it had caused an issue when I should have been notified immediately, if not at least as a courtesy. All I was told is that they can't be responsible because by law they didn't have to do anything. Who says things like that and expects to keep the confidence of their customers that they provide great service and that they have your best interest in mind? Not the vibe you get from more competitive and well run organizations. Part of what happened very well may have been illegal but it's not like I'm going to go hire a lawyer to fight them over something small like that but its just one example of the type of experience and the nature of the interactions that I've had with UCCU over the past few years. Needless to say I'm planning on closing out my account and I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually went out of business because a lot of people I know are sharing similar experiences. I love the banking apps and have had a good experience. I work with a small car dealership and I ve noticed uccu is more picky than most credit unions as far as getting loans. They tend to give higher rates or ask for more down payment than other ones. DO NOT link your Venmo in the linked accounts part online. I now get 3 security notifications from Venmo every time I log into uccu. Tried both uccu and Venmo customer service and neither could get rid of the problem.Im not saying don t use Venmo with your account, I use my uccu account for Venmo. Just don t link it to see your balance on uccu, like I do with a credit card with another bank.

We had a personal and auto loan here and multiple times they messed up our payments and paid the auto loan when I was trying to pay the personal loan and the personal loan when I was trying to pay the auto loan. So we were just out that money that they messed up on. Don t bank here. Go bank at Mountain America

They do not even deserve one star and should not be in business with their breaches of customer care and security. There is no recording of phone calls for quality control and so their employees can say whatever they like to you and be able to get away with it. I have a personal experience of being lied to by Todd Kilmer, director of their collections department along with being harassed and hung up on. He refused to listen to my concerns and recorded only his opinion of the conversation instead of what actually went on during the phone call, in the phone call he first said he never makes exceptions for people in collections to make half payments and be in charge of their own payments to his knowledge, he gave no definite answers but then admitted later on in the phone call that he had in fact made exceptions before. He was extremely narcissistic, kept talking over me, and just concerned with his own ratings instead of being concerned about a long time user of UCCU. He ended up hanging up on me instead of addressing my concerns. I highly recommend looking else where and staying away from UCCU with a 10 foot pole.

Love this bank!! I've been banking here for over 30 years! They just did my construction loan on my house while I built it, and it was great and easy the whole process. John and Teresa were awesome! I'll keep banking here for sure. I've had horrible experiences every time I've had to deal with another big bank. The only thing is I wished they would put a bank in south salt lake county.

Worst customer service. If you suspect fraud like how I got an email notifying me of someone trying to login to my account that wasn't me. You can't call and do anything if it's outside business hours. You have to wait until they open to report it. In the meantime you can't get access to freeze your account or stop your cards so your money can be stolen just because you have to wait for them to open. Not to mention they cancel cards without telling you they are cancelled or why. They also tell you your card is activated but when you go to use your new card it doesn't work so you have to go back to the bank and tell them to actually activate it this time. Ridiculous place and getting out as soon as possible.

Brett linked me up with Jeff Porter with UCCU who pushed my loan through and made sure every milestone was met. From application to closing, Jeff made sure every aspect of our home buying experience was addressed and taken care of. Responsive, personable, caring...I'd work with the Jeff and his team at UCCU time and again, they're that good!

I can not believe what has just happened. Last week UCCU ran my daughter's loan through a manager and says that as long as she puts down 10% she is approved for $7,500. A week later they tell us now they want 15% down. What a joke! So that tells me that depends on the day and the manager it can be whatever they want. Don't UCCU have guidelines that they follow? I am amazed and can not believe the lack of system that is at UCCU.

25 years with them and they completely drop the ball on us with loans in the last month, repeatedly. 7 calls over a week period and its like talking to a wall. In the last two years their performance has slowly disintegrated. Changing banks.

We were selling our car and called UCCU to pay off our loan and get the title for the car. They informed us that they moved all titles to a random location that has to send the title to a bank location upon request. We called in and payed off the loan and were informed that the title would be sent to a specific branch. A couple days passed and we didn t see the money leave our account. We went to the bank location and were told that the transfer was never processed and that the title was not sent to the branch location. It was so frustrating that we had to tell our buyers it would take another day or so to get the title. I wish UCCU would take people seriously and would be more professional in getting things done in a timely manner. Awful experience.

My wife and I joined UCCU in 1993 and kept our accounts active, and accumulated a significant savings balance with them over more than 15 years. I'm sure we were quite profitable for them. Since the end of 2009 we have maintained our membership by keeping a small balance in our savings account. Earlier this year they started charging $5 a month for inactive accounts that were below a certain balance threshold. When we noticed the charges and asked UCCU to reverse them, they acted like they were doing us a favor by reversing some, but not all, of them. Even with the reversals, the effective savings rate on our account dropped from 0.01% to -60%. We have closed our accounts, have no plans to use UCCU again, and recommend others stay away as well.

By the way, the tellers in the Highland branch and most of the customer service representatives (on the telephone) are extremely friendly and helpful. Management is not.

The closing time for this branch is clearly listed online and on the door of the building as 5:30. The only reason I come to this branch is because they are open later. I've never had a good experience. I was always rushed if it was after 5. Today I drove across town so I could make some transactions before they closed. I arrive at 5:10 PM to find the doors locked. If you want to close at 5, LIST YOUR CLOSING TIME FOR 5.

Soon after I married my wife, I changed from Alpine Credit Union to UCCU. I asked to be added to her account so that we could establish a joint checking account. After one year we both decided it was time to get a credit card. A few years later I found out that I was not added to the credit account, I was basically added as her son. UCCU was not reporting on my credit report. We went to get a home loan to purchase our first home and the agent helping us told me that I didn't have a credit score. My luckily my wife had an outstanding credit score and enough income to still get approved for the loan. I'm currently on the title but not on the actual mortgage loan. This whole experience has brought about a ton of stress and frustration.

They've been going through a lot of changes recently, but have always maintained excellent service! As far as rating the credit union overall is concerned: Wish they had a location closer to SLC :)

WARNING!! DO NOT BANK WITH Utah Community Credit Union (UCCU): First, a short time ago, did you know they sent my husband an email loaded with all of his personal information in it, out of nowhere? They claimed that it was an accident and that it wasn t sent to anyone else. How do we know they aren t lying to cover getting in bigger trouble? We just had to take their word for it. Second, we just paid off our credit card, and they secretly lowered the limit by $1200! My credit has gone up 20+ points continuing to rise, and we have been keeping the other account low and they still did. No warning, no notification. So if you have a credit card with UCCU, watch out, cause apparently they can just lower your limit with out any warning whatsoever, AND WILL. You can bet we will be leaving UCCU immediately. They are not a safe bank. They are unorganized and reckless with not only your money, but all of your personal information they require from you to even set up an account.

I have been banking here for 30 years, nothing but praise for the first 28, then it started to change 20mo ago, the last year has been really terrible. I just spent 28 min on a call to talk to the right person that could stop paper statements since it wasn't working online. in the last 3 months I have had multiple staff encounters and was given blatantly incorrect info by staff who just didn't know what they were doing, polite, just not trained. It caused a host of issues and resulted in the bank refunding 3 different amounts due to their errors, should have been 4, but wasn't worth the time to get the correction done.

I went into UCCU yesterday, 11/20/2013 to refinance my car loan that I had with a different institution. The woman who helped me was very competent and thorough. She walked me through all the paperwork, explained any questions that I had with patience, and I even got the advertised interest rate. I was very impressed, so I asked her to open a checking account for me alongside the savings account they require you to open when you get an auto loan. Getting good customer service doesn't rely on just one party. YOU have to be a good customer and make people want to help you.

I've been banking with uccu for about ten years now, i think there service has been pretty good. I think the company as a whole has a lot to improve on with accessibility and user friendly software. But today I would like to spotlight one of their employees at this branch who was very helpful/ professional and overall fantastic at doing her job. Her name was Brooke and she wore an appropriate professional green sweater for St. Patrick's. She was patient with all of our questions and did her best to answer them and made extra efforts to make sure people were taken care of. One of the employees working with her disappeared from their post and there were other customers waiting. We saw the need and told Brooke we would be happy to wait while she filled in for the absent co-worker. She promptly (hustling) took care of what needed to be done and came right back to helping us. She was happy and focused and determined to help us by any means necessary. At the end of all of our questions we had one measly $4 check to deposit that we have to her that we had accidentally forgotten to sign. As we were already in the parking lot and getting into the car we noticed her running out of the building towards us with waving us down with the check. We apologetically thanked her and were on our way.

This is the worst bank I have ever had to deal with, every single time I know I have to pay a bill with them or use the mobile app or just interact with them as a company as a whole I dread it.

At this point I m desperately trying to clear my debt with them in an attempt to never have anything to do with them again, but currently can t even make payments for some foolish reason, this issue by the way has been a recurring one I have struggled with the entire time they were my bank.

Every time I have worked with UCCU, they have been very helpful and knowledgeable. I went in to get a signature loan, and without my even asking, the loan officer looked at my 2 auto loans and told me that he could do a 1 time re-adjustment from my current interest rate (which I think was 4.99%) down to 2.99%. Within 5 minutes, we saved hundred of dollars on our auto loans! The tellers are all very friendly. I have been with UCCU for 5 years now and will stay with them for a long time to come.

If I could rate a half star I would have. This company has no clue what customer service is about. Everytime you call you will get a different answer to a question. They have zero concern for the customer and always find ways to charge you. In my entire life I have never missed a payment, but yet if you call to pay 2 days before the due date they wait to process the payment until after the due date and slap a charge on your account. They charged me 1,500$ for not having insurance for my car when in fact I have yet to drive 1 mile since I was 16 without insurance. Its taken a week to get it all ironed out.

Failed twice to update my contact address and information after a military move. This led to a 0.66 cent overdraft that accrued over $75 in overdraft fees and I was never called until it went to collections because they mailed statements to the wrong address. I paid and immediately closed the account. And they are contesting my credit report dispute. Avoid at all costs.

UCCU cannot be trusted. They sent out a survey and asked for candid responses. I filled out the survey assuming it was confidential but after a couple days, I received a phone call from a branch employee asking for more information about my survey. He had all my responses to the survey and my name and phone number associated with that survey. An institution that can't be trusted to conduct a survey confidentially certainly can't be trusted with your money. Go somewhere else where the institution will treat you with respect and confidentiality. Shame on UCCU for being so devious an dishonest.

I have been with UCCU for many years and finally have had enough! This place is an absolute joke! I applied for a home loan with Linda Nichols at the 800 South Orem Branch, and she was very unprofessional throughout the whole process(even when I go in there for daily transactions I feel like some teenager is helping me.) Linda miscalculated my info multiple times giving me inaccurate information. She kept bringing up options that would cost me more and would be horrible idea but might close the loan faster here and get her paid faster. To top it all off, she ordered an appraisal without any approval and then after we had told her that Mountain America could much more for us and had their head on straight, she tried to charge us all of these fees. I talked to 3 different lenders which is how I could compare here to the others I worked with who were above and beyond.

On another occasion at the Provo Stadium branch, went in to pay of an auto loan and had to pull teeth just to get a memo stating that the loan was paid off. They said that it shouldn't be needed, even though that is what my loan officer at another institution required for my home loan. Again, if your looking for a piggy bank than these guys might get you by, but if your a responsible adult who cares about his money, and interest rates, and wants a bank that has your best interest in mind rather than their own selfish interests in signing up just another account, or locking you into a poor loan and holding back the savings to up their commission, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN OUT OF UCCU! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Would have given 5 stars if it had not been for a problematic mobile app. It scans checks, accepts them, but then the checks sometimes do not get deposited due to the poor image. So I do not use the mobile app and just take my checks there in person. This branch is on my running route anyway.

I read all the negative reviews and thought "this credit union can't be that BAD! Boy was I wrong! Sign up for a checking account just two weeks ago and they've shown their colors as clear as day!

First of all, I was sceptical because of all the reviews so I've been using this as a side account. Signed up and was approved for an overdraft line of credit. However, over the weekend when several charges were presented, UCCU decided to charge me three $25 courtesy fees" even though my account clearly had plenty of money in it. They neen charged another fee which then caused 4 other charges under $10 to incure another 4 fees!

When I just called support, the rep transfered me to another team that said they couldn't even help because I called right when they were closing! Thanks for proving your customer service is as terrible as your banking system! Now I'm stuck fighting fees on my money and they are refusing to refund anything Thanks for showing me that you earned your poor rating in the first two weeks of our relationship! Do yourself a favor and find anywhere else to bank! Makes Wells Fargo look like choir Boys!

I used to work for UCCU about a decade ago. They were harsh towards their employees then, low pay, poor benefits and overworked managers. Now ten years later I can see their cancer had spread to how they treat their members. I'm getting "periodic finance charges" totaling over $100 this year on my credit card, "collateral insurance charges" randomly charged on my camper loan 3 times this year of $65.00 each and no answers. This credit union is all about dirty business. As soon as I can I'm pulling all of my finance operations out and moving to another institution. Shame on you UCCU.

I am paicent and know there are bugs to work out. But my bill pay never goes though on time or when I'm trying to make online payments. I have to call a branch all the time.
