Excellent hotel! The location and the price was the best.
Stayed there for a few days on my biz trip for a training in my company headquarters nearby. Near the Square and very convenient.
Location was ok, but staff was rude and we were talked into upgrading to a falsely advertised luxury room on the 18th floor. The room was much smaller than we were led to believe, we had to run the shower for 10 minutes for hot water to flow, and the phone numbers for customer service went unanswered most of the time.
room always in place good service.and also breakfast.
Don t let their online room pictures fool you - bait and switch at its worst! The entire hotel is run down and dirty - rooms and hallways. The AC in the room hardly works and everything is damp from humidity. The hallways are hot and uncomfortable. Carpets are dirty and worn out. Gross bathrooms with mildew and stains in shower/tub. Will not be back.
Friendly staff. Hotel bit dated. Very noisy but thats New York
For the $300 that we Paid it to stay at this hotel you would hope they would have a door knobs, and that there would not be holes and stains all over the walls from where pictures used to hang and dirty fingerprints! In addition it is clearly marked all over the hotel to lock up your valuables in the safe provided in your room however there was no door to the safe. Not to mention the dingy and dark hallways that look like the power has gone halfway out. Thank goodness we were only there for a short time.
The rooms are outdated for sure, but clean. Considering the price compared to others , it s a good deal
Dirty hotel and very outdated. I would never book the hotel again and unfortunately can not recommend it. The location is very good but also very noisy as the windows are very old and you can hear everything from the street. Cleaning is a foreign word in this hotel and that is the worst part. The elevator, the corridors and the rooms everything just dirty and no bother. Everywhere in the room you will find remains of the previous guests. Mold in the bathroom, as there is no ventilation and the front desk is totally overstrained and not helpful. Is more like a 2 star hotel, which would be ok if it were clean. DO NOT BOOK, there are better and cheaper hotels nearby.
We had a nice experience while at this hotel. The beds were very comfortable, the staff is friendly and the hotel itself is on 7th Ave just 3 blocks from the M&M store.
A Parking garage is available on the property. I'd say it was affordable and definitely convenient as free parking in New York City is often hard to find.
Given the proximity to Broadway and the many attractions, this hotel will be our goto hotel whenever we choose to stay in the city.
Always clean and ready for service. I've been invited here a few times and never been disappointed. If your going for a night out the night, make sure you book a room with The Manhattan!!!
My friend and I traveled to New York December 12/13 to tour and see a show and a nice dinner. When we arrived the clerk said to open the windows something about a pipe system. We took our bags up to our room and it was hot. After having a great evening in the city we came back to a room that was hot. When I called the front desk I was told that the a/c is shut off till spring and they have no fans. The lady at the front desk then told me to open my window to cool the room down. We had to sleep with the windows open and the New York city traffic honking in the background and still hot as hell. Also with the hot room the bed was terrible and the room was moderately clean. We took showers to find the towels were paper thin and very small. It is a pricey hotel for what you get, I will won't stay here again nor will I recommend to anyone.
There is no Free Breakfast. The Google site says there is but there is not. And the staff/manager will argue this point to no end.
There is coffee, a few pieces of fruit, and pastry for purchase in the lobby. This hotel is perfectly located a few blocks from Times Square, Central Park, Public Transit, and Theaters. Rooms are in need of updating and air freshener. Call Hotel direct for best rate.
We have been at this location twice now and it's awesome!!
Shout out to the front desk that made it possible to check in early when we got there early.
The location is close to everything you can think off. You can literally walk to where you want to go (shopping, Starbucks, train stop, bank, etc).
For the money there are better places to stay. In The City. There was waterlogging under the shower floor so it felt like you were standing on a water bed. The was mold and mildew around the tiles and shower knobs and hair stuck to the shower walls. The bed was decent and the pillows were nice. It was a bit loud despite being on the 14th floor buy I guess that NYC for you.
Quality price you can not ask for more very spacious rooms
It was nice and clean. However, there was little trouble with the Wi-Fi connection
Bad service. The hotel leaves a lot to be desired. The staff's attention is bad. The only good thing is the location.
First off I would have gave this place a one star but the customer service here was amazing. This was mine and my wife's first time in New York so we decided to stay in time Square. The lobby was definitely misconciving Compared to the room that we have got. It was very old, needed major updating and was just dirty. We had called the front desk to see if there was anything to do. If any of the higher ups at the Manhattan at time square are reading this, know that Jackie at the front desk is a real keeper. She was completely understanding of our situation and switched us to a newer and updated room at no charge. She even took the time to show us the two rooms avaliable in person . That's truly awesome customer service. Because of her I would stay here again!
Great location!! Staff extremely friendly and helpful. We LOVE the gentlemen that work the little coffee shop in the mornings. Rooms were nice and clean.. this is an older hotel but again, very clean. Beds super comfy!
Good place to stay if one is coming to take tours of lovely Manhattan city, good lobby which has good staff and some cafeterias to fancy a cup of coffee. Rooms are value for money, but all i will say is i was little disappointed with the corridors, carpet was old, dim lights, dull and dark.
Never go there. No work space in the tiny old room. Very bad service. They lost... an Amazon order it has been delivered with proof. Very rude and unprofessional management. Never again.
Gross. Hairs everywhere. Rotting wallpaper, dirty corners, moldy caulking, just gross.
Everything everyone is saying is absolutely right. The entrance is very staged and well put together and the rest of the hotel is drab and depressing. Would not stay here again. The parking garage they are partnered with are absolute crooks. They charged us for the 24 hours we parked there and then for 2 extra hours they doubled it. The concierge told us to dispute it, but the man at the garage didnt wanna hear it. To top it off when they brought our car around it reaked of weed. Will definitely stay somewhere else next time. All that money for one night and everything is subpar.
We were VERY disappointed with our stay at this hotel. The room was half the size as described in the description and the bed was barely a double but the room was listed as a queen. We didn't even spend the night in the hotel because it was so uncomfortable. I left clothing items in the bathroom and called the hotel immediately the next afternoon and I have called repeatedly - each time they tell me that nothing was found. I am very disappointed with the way they are handling the situation. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Service was excellent. Rooms clean. Housekeeping on point. Can't wait to come again!
I get it's a busy city, but not everyone is used to the fast paced style of NYC. Staff seemed inconvenienced when asked the process for dropping off/picking up car. Beyond this, our room keys didn't work twice. Both times we had to go back to the front desk for correction. Concierge members were the kindest and most helpful of everyone we encountered. Kudos to them! Once in our "newly renovated" room there was mold and sewer flies in the shower. When calling to inform, we were hung-up on twice before someone actually stayed on the line to speak to us.
La ubicacion es perfecta. Todo lo encuentras cercano. La noche muy movida, a 200 mts Broodway, todo muy seguro.El Hotel comodo.
I'm suprised a hotel can be so disgusting and filthy it smelled horrible in the 14th floor and the curtains with stains the rooms packed with dust and I thought my room was the only one with issues but NO...my other family member that was staying in another room in floor 16 had the same exact issue. The receptionist super rude and receives you with a attitude. If i could give no rate at all I would. Do not recommend this hotel and most of all I recommend they close it because it is not a place that serves good service and a good hygiene environment for people.
Calling the hotel to confirm my reservation was extremely difficult - the phone lines were almost all unmanned and it took several tries over two days to get through. The 4pm check in time was inconvenient and getting into our room earlier cost us an extra $50. We were also talked into upgrading to a new "luxury" room on the refurbished 18th floor. This cost an extra $50/night, but the brochure we were given was deceptive. The room was far far smaller than pictured, and the shower had no hot water. A technician had to be brought in to fix it. Staff was not particularly polite or helpful. Our stay at the Manhattan was very disappointing and we wouldn't recommend it at the high asking price.
UNBEATABLE location! From the hotel door you can see Time Square. Spacious rooms, although not very new. The breakfast included in the price, improvable, pastries to choose, fruit and coffee or infusion.
Location Is the best part of this hotel. Check-in seems to run about an hour behind. Concierge is very helpful and welcoming. Nice breakfast selection for on-the-go pace. Room was larger than others for the area. I would stay again.
Great location right in Times Square, Comfortable Room
I've stayed at multiple hotels and this has to be one of the worst hotels I've ever seen. The room is old and out dated the wall paper is falling off the carpets look dirty (hallways and in the room) the front lobby is the only thing that looks decent but it is not worth the money. The bathroom is tiny and so is the room. I wouldn't even call this a hotel it seems more like a motel than anything else.
Very well located
Comfortable room
Do NOT.. and I repeat, DO NOT waste your money on this place. My friends and I booked this hotel for a girls trip this weekend and everything was great checking in. When we got to our room it was DISGUSTING. Stains everywhere, NO A/C.. it was at least 87 degrees in the hotel and our room. We paid $1,000 for 3 nights and it was disgusting. We immediately went downstairs and told them we were not going to be staying there and they didn t even argue it, they just refunded it with no questions asked. We stayed at Hilton Garden Inn 2 blocks over for way cheaper and SOOO much nicer. Even the man who brought our luggage to our room saw us when we were leaving and asked what happened, when we told him that it was disgusting, he said, I do not blame y all at all, it is not what is advertised online. Only the downstairs is renovated and nice, the halls and the rooms are absolute trash. Do not spend your money on this place.
EXTREMELY RUDE, OBNOXIOUS, AND HORRIBLE SERVICE IN ALL DEPARTMENTS. FRONT DESK, BELL DESK, MANAGERS, EVEN THE GARAGE WORKERS. DISGUSTING AND UNHELPFUL ATTITUDE. THEY LOST OUR PACKAGE AND REFUSED TO LOOK AROUND AND EVEN TRY TO SEE IF MISPLACED. BLAMED US FOR HAVING A PACKAGE SENT TO US AND THAT ITS NOT THEIR FAULT IF SOMETHING IS LOST OR STOLEN. LITERALLY WOULDN'T EVEN TRY AND YELLED AT ME WHEN I WAS NICE AND CALM AND WASN'T EVEN BLAMING THEM, JUST WAS ASKING THEM TO CHECK. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANY PERSON TO STAY HERE AS NO HOTEL IS WORTH STAYING AT, WHEN CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE LOWEST PRIORITY. SERIOUSLY HORRIFIC AND HAVE STAYED IN NY TONS OF TIMES, NEVER AGAIN WILL I TRY A NEW HOTEL. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT ATTITUDE AND NASTY FACES THROUGHOUT YOUR STAY TO RUIN EVERY DAY THERE.
Room was good. Wording of some of their amenities were a little confusing. We did enjoy our stay.
Great location, large rooms. I'm looking forward to their new look. They were in need of an upgrade. Felt like a senior living assistance home.
Fantastic location. Clean rooms, even if a bunch are still needing renovation. Courteous and prompt staff. Room keys are absurdly sensitive, had to issue new ones twice in less than 12 hours.
The location is excellent for its proximity to the Times Square and Central Park only but the rooms are old furniture from the George Washington era apparent and the moqat is running on time intermittent and depreciated and the price of the room is expensive for quality furniture
It is an old hotel w badly kept. Peeling paper on the walls and dirty carpet. Never seen so much degradation in a hotel in New York. Do not go there.
Great hotel. However, advertises with very different photos than what the room actually looks like.
The room is nice but the cold water in the sink is locked and cant be opened and I need to chance the hairdryer wich was quick replaced
In the new york standard. Friendly staff. Medium rooms. Business center, exercise room ... Central area.
Very comfortable, polite & helpful staff, centrally located!
I've been raised to never judge a book by its cover but this time, you should definitely judge this book by its content and cover. Analogies! But, for real. We arrived early, at about 11 in the morning after an incredibly long flight. Tried to check in, couldn't. Said our room wasn't going to be ready till 4 but we could leave our bags. Left our bags, took like 2 minutes to put them up and another 8 to get us a ticket. Came back at 4 to check in, got the executive specified elevator; got excited. Opened up the room - definitely wasn't the room we paid for. Not saying it was bad. Just only 1 bed for 2 people. Had marble floors leading up to the room, everything was fresh and clean, etc. Went back down stairs and stated we were in the wrong room and that we NEEDED 2 beds to which they responded, "Well, we upgraded you so why would you want to go down a floor to our OLD rooms?" Because I booked for 2 beds and you gave me 1. After a 15 minute wait, they begrudgingly "downgraded" us. Why not, since you're inconveniencing someone, give me a room on the same floor with 2 beds?
The 18th room and the 17th floor have 2 different standards. 18th looks like a typical 4 to 5 star hotel. Not bad. 17th floor is like a crack motel in downtown Los Angeles; scary. Disgusting floors, showers with hair already in it, dirty towels, molded walls and ceiling. Air condition says it's at 65*F but feels like 80*F+ so outside feels better than inside. Even the showers don't properly drain. Like, if you're going to renovate only the 18th floor and give crappy rooms to everyone else; shut down.
Also, 34$+ for "wifi and other amenities". That's a joke if I've ever heard of one. I've lived in Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Italy, etc due to work. Never been charged 34$ extra. Especially wifi that lacks.
It's 2018 people - not 2006 where reviews hardly got posted. Close the hotel doors, spend a couple million remodeling, and make it a pleasant trip for your patrons.
Gorgeous location !!! Dated structure and suffers a little, but overall valid.
Location is perfect! Staff is very nice! I thought the rooms would be a little better. The bed in my room is worn out and very hard. I couldn't sleep good. My room is right beside the elevator so needless to say I hear it everytime which kept me up. It's so hot in my room, a.c. didn't work. If I ever come back to NYC I would definitely stay somewhere else.
Although, I like how close I was to time square I didn t really care for the room. It was in the 22nd floor. Bathroom wasn t clean, part of the ceiling in the room near the tv was badly patched. It almost look as it was falling apart. The bathroom floor, tub needed a nice scrub. corners of the bathroom seemed dirty. It had layers of dust. The bathroom itself looked run down. I was expecting a room like what I saw on the website. Hallway was dark smelly dusty and warm. Glad the room had AC. The room itself and hallway outside smelled moldy. I was constantly stuffy and sneezing. Bed was comfortable. The time in NY was fabulous.
Central hotel, close to everything. Large and comfortable room. The TV is huge and with a thousand channels.
Pros: Great location and the hotel staff were helpful and polite. Cons: Our bathroom smelled rank. We would have switched rooms if we could. There were daily convenience fees which aren't included in your reservation. This hotels needs some serious upgrades (rust on bathroom pipes, stained hallway carpet, and peeling wallpaper). The rooms looked NOTHING like the pictures on the website. The housekeeping is a joke. When we called to address the rank smell in our bathroom they offered to "freshen" it up vice clean the bathroom. When an housekeeping staff did come up he had some Odor Ban, sprayed the bathroom, didn't say a word and walked out. Plus there's visable cobwebs in the hallways.
The welcome and availability are excellent. The rooms are not very well kept but are cleaned regularly every day even if you are late leaving the room, soap and shampoo are provided and there is a hair dryer. There are free water dispensers on each floor that are convenient for filling your own bottles and drink dispensers for a fee. In the room there is the coffee machine (obviously American) and tea filters are also provided. The location is perfect one minute walk from times Square and the nearest subway stop. Highly recommended to see Manhattan but also other neighborhoods like Brooklyn or Queens. Consider that in Times Square there is noise and light at every hour, there are blackout curtains but unfortunately nothing can be done about the noise, but I believe that in the central area it is impossible to find a silent accommodation.
Perfectly located, 18th floor rooms newly renovated, and the desk was more than friendly. Mohammed made us feel welcome and really took care of us during our stay. It's that extraordinary service that makes a difference. I didn't get a chance to go to the gym here, so can't say about that. Continental breakfast can be included with many room packages, as can parking. I'll definitely stay here again.
Nice hotel, clean, bright with very good service. Great proximity to Times Square, Central Park and many other must-see places.
Fine stay but terrible service. Front desk and billing was quite rude over the phone.
STAY AWAY - We chose this hotel because of the location and on how nice it looked on the website. The location is indeed convenient but the hotel itself should be closed and completely renovated. Room are dang and dirty. Bathroom had mold and dripping faucets. Towels had stains and were paper thin. Huge burn hole in the rug from the iron. We waited for an hour for our luggage only to have the wrong suitcases delivered to us. I then went down and brought up my own bags. Called management regarding the room and was told that all the room were like this so changing room wouldn t help. Not what I would call quality customer service. We have stayed in plenty of different hotels in NYC but The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel has been the worst. Our only hope is that this review saves a family from major a disappointment on their vacation. STAY AWAY!!
Hotel location was great .. but it s a hotel for the homeless .. they stay on the 6th and 9th floor . Not a Safe hotel . Wouldn t recommend at all and we have stayed in some bad hotels !!!
The staff was kind and the hotel was very clean and professional. The location can't be beat, it's so close to times square.
Specific staff member was very rude. Had to go down to the desk for fresh towels and toilet paper twice. Key cards randomly stop worked several times. Room has no fan in broken, no microwave, no mini fridge. TV remote didn't work. If we didn't use all our time in the city and spent more in the room it would have sucked.
Needs a maintenance contract. I had higher expectations than I probably should have.
The reception service very good in general all the staff but the very old room needs to reform
Awful experience dirty bedroom, no hot water. Had to check into another hotel at 1am. Unhelpful staff. Read the reviews before going. I wish I did?
This hotel is tiny bit satisfactory.
Positive - the location is a huge plus, being very close to stores and restaurants, the staff was very kind and helpful, shower had good strong pressure, elevators were quick n clean, heat/AC is easy controlled
Negative - bed has yellow n stained pillows under the case, shower curtain is stained and dirty at top, windows are dirty n can barely see through them, paint is chipped or coming off wall near inside window area, bathroom smells n have sprayed perfume several times to mask it, WALLS ARE NOT INSULATED so u can hear from people talking to doors slamming to someone whistling at 3am, very few wall outlets to charge a phone or plug in a laptop, paint or style of rooms are old fashion, closets r small, mirrors had scratches or permanent streaks
Location- fantastic. Close to many subway lines and of course, the action.<br/>Hotel - nice lobby, great bellboys. This was the only 'updated place in the whole hotel. Room halls- carpet 14th floor dirty and raised/unglued, and bumpy. Room itself tired , and furniture outdated and some in poor condition with scratches, mold in bathtub grrr! (My pics were deleted!!)Bathroom floor dirty, lamp broken x1, phone handset broken ( had to use speaker) no towels for our family, we had to call for them [ and for the safe to be opened and they were disgruntled about it]. I give it two stars because of location and Carlos, our bellboy who directed us to the right places to eat... I would not stay again, unless by myself (big question mark). Again, you get what you pay for.
Only the location is very good. We had to change rooms because the offered was with the wallpaper unglued with mold and much to be desired. At a great cost they switched us to a slightly better one. Poor reception service, terrible cleanliness and even the cable of my cousin cel.da. The water machine on the floor didn't work. I do not recommend this hotel.
The good location of the hotel stands out. Bad treatment of the staff towards the guests.
We arrived around 10pm local time after a long flight from The UK as family of 4 just to be told that the room with 2 double beds we have booked is not available and they have changed our room. when we went upstairs to our room it was a room for 2. How do they expect all 4 of us to sleep in one single bed? is this a joke?
My wife went downstairs to sort it out but the staff is incompetent and cant really do anything not even a sorry. by then we have actually made the payment and even tipped the bellboy.
After a while we were told that there is nothing they can do as they do not have the room. Then we had to look for a suitable room in other hotels in the area which we found one in Sheraton.
One of the worst hotel experience ever considering being up with 2 young kinds for almost 24 hours straight and all we needed is that a good sleep on arrival. Totally unacceptable.
Also the room wasnt clean at all and it was dated. carpet was filthy and the whole room smells like ashtray. the whole room as well as toilet and bathroom was tiny. Glad we made our way out soon. Just across the road Sheraton only slightly more expensive for a much better experience.
Stear clear.
