We enjoyed our overnight stay here at the Manhattan! It was clean and the staff were very friendly and efficient! We were in a large group that had to wait for a bus to take us to the pier so we all congregated in the very large lobby. The staff were not flustered in the least and remained pleasant and helpful! We loved the location and would definitely stay there in the future!

I really enjoyed my stay this past weekend. They allowed me to check in earlier and everything was clean. It s close to Times Square which is awsome. Tbh I was terrified after reading most of the comments but I was content when I seen my room. We were on the 19th floor, although the room does need renovation I wasn t long enough in the actual room itself. Your out and about all day and when you get back you just want to rest. Our room was clean, view was beautiful and everything worked. I booked on their website, I believe $98 a night.

Great location, good price and great value for money. The building is old but well maintained, the rooms well organized and spacious, it has good cleanliness. The view of the city from the window of some rooms is wonderful. It has a great gym and a snack bar downstairs with good breakfast.

I've stayed in a lot of NYC hotels, and in fact, I've stayed in this hotel (it's been a half dozen years since then), and I will never stay here again -- and I will make sure none of my friends stay here again either. The front desk check-in process was the only thing that wasn't rank about this experience; every other staff experience was awful. The room was disgusting -- mold in the wallpaper, mold in the grout in the bathroom (LOTS of mold), ceiling falling apart in the bathroom, mold in the room, mold in the wallpaper in the hallways -- and this was an "upgraded" room. When I spoke to them I was told they couldn't move me, and since I prepaid, I couldn't move to another hotel. the carpet was so dirty I had to walk around with shoes on, and the air conditioning barely kept the room livable. I will post pictures here of the bathroom. I really don't understand how this is up to NY state standards, and I will be contacting their health inspector offices.

The rooms smell like mold and the bathrooms are falling apart, broken tiles, clogged sink, toilet caulking, tub... More like a cheap motel. Let's not forget the bed bugs. Contacted guess services about the room conditions and they made it seemed as if it was normal. They said we can sent someone to caulk around the toilet and drain the tub. Putting a band aid on the problems doesn't fix it. Oh I forgot, the ice maker on the 20th floor doesn't work. I have stayed at other hotels within a block or two and a far better quality. The only good thing was the service at the front desk.

I was in this hotel a few years ago and I really liked it. the location is fantastic. For this reason I decided to return this past April, but due to the state of alarm, we were unable to go. The hotel has treated us wonderfully and has returned our money without any problem. They again deserve a score of 10. Thank you

The Elevator was not working properly you could be waiting 10 minutes to get on it. Also the bell boy was rude he asked for a tip, which he would have got without asking for it. When we were leaving I paid our service fees which amounted to 160 dollars. But 185 euro came out of my bank account. I don't think there should such a difference given the rate of the dollar. I am aware there would be some bank fees, but this seems extremely high. Location of the hotel is going for getting around.

We recently stayed at the Manhattan for our honeymoon. Hotel needs lots of updating. We booked through groupon and thought we got a good deal but the hotel added lots of unexpected charges that they sprung on us on our last day so it was no deal at all. They said the charges were because we booked through groupon. Why didnt they tell us about these charges when we arrived? We've stayed at the Sheraton across the street for the same cost this turned out to be but the Sheraton is worth the cost as the rooms there are really nice, sadly this hotel isn't. My family contacted the Manhattan prior to our arrival as well with a gift for us. The hotel promised the gift would be in our room waiting for us but even though the gift was delivered to the hotel for us, the hotel did not deliver it to our room as they promised they would. When my family called to question the whereabouts of the gift and ask why they didn't deliver it to our room, the hotel staff lied to them, we never got the gift. They had no care or concern for the cost of this gift, the thought my family put into sending this gift or the fact that they promised my family they would have it in our room waiting for us. So unprofessional, we will never stay at this hotel again. Do yourself a favor, book the Sheraton.

This is by far the worst hotel I have stayed in my life. If I could give it zero star's then I would not hesitate to do so. The experience was appalling, the condition of the room and bathroom was comparable to a drug house and lastly the elevators and hallways smelt like urine. Not to speculate but I am convinced that the type of client's this hotel accomdates are questionable and unsafe for families. On the contrary the location is excellent but BEWARE.

The rooms and overall cleanliness of the hotel are poor. The bath drained very slowly so we had to shower standing in water. The staff was friendly especially John and William St the breakfast bar. The location was excellent as it's only a few minutes walk to Times Square. Next time we'll pay a little more for nicer facilities.

This is my 2nd time in NYC and my first time at this hotel. The exterior of the hotel is very nice and the location is is awesome. But after spending a lot of time in Las Vegas I was expecting better service. I know check in isn't until 4 but they wouldn't check us in early even though rooms were ready. I tipped the bell man when we got here, I tipped them when they stored our stuff and they wanted me to tip them to get my stuff. How much do I really have to tip? The room room was big, for NY, but the room needs a major upgrade. It looks like the wallpaper is from the 60's and then towels are from the day the hotel opened. Either get new towels or put fabric softener to freshen them up. The bathroom was very moldy and looked rusted. One major plus is our room did have a balcony which made it convenient to get fresh air. Would I stay here again? If the price was right.

Well located in downtown Manhattan, nice staff, American breakfast, packed breakfast, small breakfast room, few elevators, dirty hall layout, clean rooms, clean linen change every day. I'm expensive at the price. You can find the needle locations at lower prices and with the same conditions. Ex. Pennsylvania Hotel.

Very close to Times Square, outdated hotel. Breakfast is Spartan, best around the corner and you have a large choice to eat out ..... A lot of noise from traffic at night, so best to book on higher deepen if you want some sleep ....

This hotel gave me the WORST EXPERIENCE. first of all it was disgusting... very old not updated at all. Pictures do not do justice. But I wasn t super upset about that part. What I was mad about was I canceled the rest of my stay due to a emergency and they refunded me the last few days no problem. They ended up taking the refund back and charging me TWO SEPARATE transactions that I did not authorize. They are very shady and not helpful at all. I asked the lady at the front desk to transfer me to management so I can resolve the issue and she would not. She told me that I had to hang up and call again. She was very rude and not helpful what so ever. I will never stay here again or recommend this place to anyone. I cannot express how unprofessional this company is.

Price is good, but the hotel is not all thar great. But don't let the entrance fool you. It looks nice and fancy in the entrance of the hotel. Has a coffee bar, looks good. Then you get in the elevator and the doors open, and you see the old crappy hotel tan wallpaper, half peeled off. Looks like the scene from The Shinning. There's no room service, no mini fridge in the room, bathroom is tiny. Great for price, but not a pretty hotel.

Beautiful Lobby but horrible standard rooms! Check-in was very good, the front person was very nice; they hold your bags like most hotels until the room is available. However! I agree with other reviews, the room and bathroom smelled very bad and they were very old; one of the doors in the room had a punch. I honestly had to open the window most of our days/nights. I also had to call the front desk to change the bathroom curtain because it had mold, there was no toilet paper and towels. The cleaning lady I spoke with was very nice and I could see she made an effort to keep our room clean (22nd floor).

Website states, "Renovated Executive Class"! well I just wish they would also invest money and effort into the standard rooms; I was extremely disappointed.

On a positive note, I can say that this hotel has a perfect location and nice staff (from my experience).

The rating does not match the conditions of the hotel. The lobby and location are great. The elevators were dirty which set the tone for the dreary hallway and the run down room that did not have properly working air condition. Did not spend the night because we were not comfortable, booked another hotel for the night.

The hotel's location is just perfect, it's a mere walking distance to times square, Central park, and many other locations. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very awesome. Beds are comfy and the view is great.

It was an amazing place for drinking some beer and eating American food. Comfortable place with asequible prices and good services. Relaxing time with friends and family. I really do suggest that this place is nice for hanging out and visiting.

Unfortunately there were serious booking issues on the part of this hotel..we booked dorectly through thr hotel and our charge of $1400 (purchased months ago) for our stay is being raised to nearly $2200 for taxes and fees ..front desk was not willing to explain why such an exorbitant raise in rate. Not happy about this at all.

It is a hotel basically in Times Square. When I came here with my reservation, I had to wait 7 hours just to receive my room. I also called for my mores pillows and blankets, but they never came. Overall, it was bad service.

Very clean rooms, comfortable beds. Nice people. The only thing the hotel is old and the corridors were not renovated, at least the floor we were in (11). The hotel has a gym (boy) for those who use it, nice.

Not great, not horrible. For what you pay it's ok. Rooms are lacking sufficient electrical outlets and the ones they do have are so worn out everything falls right out of them. Hallways could really use a coat of paint and some new carpet.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. FALSE Advertisement online and lobby. Should have read the previous reviews.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location, and the reception. I came do this hotel for my birthday, and should have for sure read previous reviews. The elevator is dingy. The hallways dirty and old. I got into my room it was outdated. Don t get me started on the bathroom. The tub was stained yellow. Roof was peeling. The bottom of the curtains in my room were stained, moldy. Table next to my bed was dusty. I really truly think this hotel only gets clients because of its location. The receptionists were Superb. The concierge were always walking around, at one point I had to wait over 5 minutes. There should be two at all times. I could hear noise, everywhere, next room, the hallway... everywhere. Facility fees, for what exactly? The pictures online and the videos they show in the lobby are all false advertisement. I completely wish I didn t book my stay here. It s embarrassing now this hotel claimed to be a 4 start hotel. This hotel should be 2 stars. I wouldn t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Good location but needs an update for sure. Rooms are big but can't help but get the feeling that someone inherited this place and doesn't want to be bothered with anything except fixing what is absolutely necessary and counting the money at the end of the day.

Very pleasant stay for 5 nights; read some bad reports & was worried after booking: but hotel basic & could do with a bigger bathroom but staff were friendly especially the maids & the rooms were spotless.

I came with a group of family and we had three separate rooms. The rooms weren't very big, and the bathrooms had just enough space to turn around in and that was it. The toilet would keep running unless you adjusted the handle, and despite the fact that our room was non smoking it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke when we got there. The room was also very warm despite turning the thermostat to the lowest setting; the fan didn't seem to blow much air even at the highest setting. It only had a breakfast bar that you had to pay for. The staff all seemed very friendly and willing to help, however, and the doorman recognized us because my grandmother was in a wheelchair and would jump to hold the door for us whenever he saw us coming.
