Cheap rooms. A bit dirty even for the price, but can't beat the price.
Cheap rooms. A bit dirty even for the price, but can't beat the price.
The Front Desk was amazing and extremely helpful, our room was larger than most New York hotels. The bathroom was beautiful as well as the room was very quiet and beautiful. The pillows were amazing I slept like a baby!
If you re visiting New York as a tourist this hotel is good value due to its location. Far from luxurious though the rooms feel like they ve not been touched (other than cleaning) for 20 years. The staff were nice and helpful and if you re only in the room to sleep or don t care for luxury it seems one of the cheapest in a central location.
Bed was comfortable and our view was OK. We went on a very warm day and were looking forward to a cool room. The AC did not blow cold air much at all and it took 6+ hrs to get the room to a minimally comfortable temperature. Very nice staff tho. Go in the cooler months!
We made reservation for a room with two beds. Never was ready at first night, so we stayed with one king size bed for one night for 4 of us. They promised for 2 beds for second night. It was never ready and they forced us to stay at one bed again for 4 of us. We will not come back here to spend another night. Poor communication and poor service staff.
Got 9th floor so I could see the Ouside quite a bit. Very nice view. It is also close to time square, just hop outside and walk a bit and you're there! The gym room is rather small. Didn't use any other service.
Enjoy this gem in the heart of everything!
My daughter & I had a wonderful stay at The Manhattan At Times Square for US Thanksgiving & we had a fantastic time while in NYC!!
They say location, location, location & this hotel has it! You are in the heart of everything!! Steps from Broadway, Central Park, MoMA, Rockefeller Centre, Radio City Music Hall, Times Square & many restaurants! And only 2 blocks to 5th Ave & a short 20 min walk to the Empire State Building etc!
I had read some of the reviews & was concerned, so emailed the Manager ahead & decided to pay the upgrade (which was still a deal compared to other hotels) & was not disappointed!
Our 20th floor room was perfect in every way!! Completely renovated, smelled great, modern, clean & in excellent working order! We very much appreciated the Manager's personal touch upon our arrival & throughout our stay & were extremely pleased to enjoy an impeccably clean room with the high end qualities, most comfortable "pillow top" bedding & ultra modern bathroom!! The little extra's with the 'swan towels' & modern fixtures did not go unnoticed!! Room & floor was quiet, no city noise & came with new mini fridge, coffee maker, blow dryer, clock radio, wireless internet & personal safe. There was no microwave but we didn't need one!
Everything in our room & in the hotel was in perfect working order (hot water, TV, elevators etc) & the hotel staff were always pleasant, helpful & attentive!! Yes, the hotel is a little older (isn't everything in NYC?) however, I found it well kept, clean, nicely appointed & if you are in one of the newly renovated rooms you will not be disappointed! The renovated rooms are very 'chic-boutique-like', the bathroom is a small modern boutique style & I would not concern yourself with any of the negative reviews. The car park is directly 'attached' to the hotel & just around the corner & very conveniently located. Parking is additional to your stay, but it is at all hotels! There is a very helpful concierge desk in the lobby that can help you with most anything! We did not use the Fitness Centre or Grab'nGo Cafe.
I have only the utmost positive reviews & recommendations to give & I will definitely return to this hotel!
The Hotel & Manager will forever be remembered by both my daughter & myself for 'going the extra mile' & taking the time to ensure 1,000% customer satisfaction - especially in light of some of the not-so-good reviews! Our stay was perfect!
Again, the upgrade was a little more than I initially paid, but it was highly worth it & you will not get a better location than this, for the price!
Enjoy this gem in the heart of everything! I never give perfect ratings but this one deserves a 4+ out of 5!
Great place.
Nice and friendly staff.
Wallpaper and decor slightly dated. But other than that lovely hotel.
Beautiful place and great stay. Clean and we'll maintained
I recently stayed at this hotel, i was on the 14th floor. The hotel was a little dated yes, but i liked that, it had more of an appeal to me if I'm honest. It was very clean, the bed was so comfortable, not that i was in it much as i was in a city that doesn't sleep. lol.
The view from my room was magnificent, much so that i was addicted to looking out the window.
It was my first trip to New York and i absolutely loved it!!
This hotel is in the heart of everything that you would plan to do. e.g Broadway shows, Central Park, Subway to lower Manhattan. Just everything.
And of course the staff, i thought were very friendly, helpful and polite.
So yes recommend this hotel 100%
The rooms where very nice...The mandatory fee for internet and TV use was a bit over the top. Needs a little updating in the hallway areas
(Please read full review!) Upon checking in the service was good, and the lobby was clean clean and pretty. The location was amazing being so close to time square and Central Park. Other than that the rest of the hotel was dirty and not well-maintained, the rooms smelled liked smoke and were seriously unkept! The bathroom was extremely small with rust on nearly every fixture, no fan for exhaust, the ceiling and water damage and looked like it was going to fall down and the tub would not drain!!! I don t even want to think of what was clogging it and possibly coming back up the drain and now sitting it the water my feet were soaking in, gross! Now as if That wasn t bad enough, when we were packing up to leave, my friend, (who was staying in the hotel with me) noticed her TOMS shoes were missing. Not like she left them at home missing, like someone went in her luggage while we were not in he room and took them missing ! I couldn t believe it at first but we searched the whole room and everything... no shoes! I know she had them, she wore them there and I watched her put them in her bag before we left!!!! So frustrating !!going to customer service and telling them they didn t seem shocked, didn t offer any condolences, answers or anything! They handed her a form to fill out and sent us on our way, have yet to hear anything about it!! we will never stay there again and recommend that you spend the extra money to stay elsewhere !!!
Family spread among four rooms. One room had a foul smell, a toilet that would not flush and no air conditioning and we had to wait for over an hour to even see a manager at 10 pm. At first refused to change to a new room. A real Hassel. Another room had the bathroom ceiling crash into the bathtub at midnight. Shower drains did not drain and none of the rooms had air conditioning that worked. No air
throughout the hotel and the place was overall run down and dirty. Not worth the price regardless of location. Avoid this dump.
First the good: the hotel has an A+ location close to Times Square and all it has to offer. Public transportation, activities, plenty of restaurants, etc. are all just a short walk away. Also, the staff that we dealt with were very professional and courteous. In particular, Allison at the front desk could not have been more pleasant!
Unfortunately, the management of this hotel does not display the same level of customer service with the way they nickel-and-dime their customers. The "free continental breakfast" that pops up on their website is not free, it is a package which one must reserve, and it is not included if one reserves a non-refundable rate package. The hotel also adds a mandatory $20 facility fee/night to the reservation, which is not uncommon, but nowhere was it mentioned it would be included when we made the reservation through our credit card rewards program. Front desk staff, to their credit, did remove this when we complained. However, management should think twice and consider if the unpleasant surprises are really worth making your hotel seem marginally cheaper when doing a web search.
Finally, as others have pointed out, the hotel is on a system where the entire building is either running heat or A/C. This is not unusual for a building of this age, but it is something to keep in mind when planning an early spring/late fall stay. Unfortunately during our stay we went from near 80 degrees to below freezing during a 48 hour span, and the lobby was unbearably hot during the warm weather.
Location Location Location. The best thing about the hotel is its location only.
Hotel employees who are reception staff are right for hygiene, their morals are narrow and they cannot stand the question.
The room's furniture is very, very worn out, the bathrooms, may God bless you, are dilapidated, and the sink does not drain the water.
Its value is high for the services it provides.
This is the second time I live in it and the same notes.
And if you came back to New York again, you would have lived in it because of its most wonderful location.
I had heard really awful things about this hotel before our stay. I expressed my concerns and we were moved to the executive floor as it had recently been refurbished. This was at an extra cost to us but our resort fee was taken off so we didn't mind. I can't vouch for the rest of the hotel but we loved our room, modern and clean! The lobby was beautiful and its an attractive building at an excellent location. 5 mins from times sqare but not so close that it's heaving with people. On checkout, we asked if our bags could be stored for the day and picked up later. We went to a man who escorted us to the store room, he lured us in (while we carried our own bags) and asked what time we'd be back. We said 2.15. He then said that the service was free but didn't include tip and that tip was due there and then!!!!!! We were gob smacked! We paid the man his tip. We returned just before 2pm and the man was still there but he finished at 2. He clearly knew we wouldn't be back in time to tip him on our way out so he charged us then, and then we had to tip the very lovely man who brought our bags out. We felt the first guy was very seedy and to basically demand his tip in advance was disgusting, especially since we walked our own bags all the way to the room and then he made us go in so no one would hear him tell us we had to pay him! I'd like a response to this.
Adequate hotel but very dated, and in desperate need of refurbishing
Lobby had the most overpowering air "freshener" scent ever. The hotel has not been updated in likely over 35 years. Carpets are dirty, hallways are dingy. The beds we're at least ok but I'm hoping I don't have to stay here again.
I would never recommend this place to anyone. The rooms you stay in are not the ones they advertise online. My room was very dusty & very dated. It really needed a good scrub & re-decorating. There was a lot of children there in school uniform, so I'm thinking previous comments about housing people on benefits is right.
You could improve coordination and service, there was a day that the room was not cleaned because they had not checked that we were there
It's practically on Time Square, but the accommodation itself is awful, worse than I still read the reviews and wanted to give it a try. They need to renovate the rooms urgently, the value is the same as better hotels.
Exceptional location next to Time Square, a dated hotel to improve
$70 room for $300. You could tell the sheets used to be white and the carpet used to be, you know, carpet.
Very good location but the attention of the staff is very bad !!
Nice location near times square. Rooms are not nice at all. Wallpaper coming off of walls, mildew in bathroom. Had to get febreeze to get smell out of room. A/C does not work. There for 4 days, had air set to 65 degrees. Never got below 72 degrees.
I used to live across the street when it was a well runned Sheraton. Now rooms are cheaper but rooms and linens are not clean. I cleaned bathroom. Will NOT go back.
I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!
1ST THE DESK PEOPLE WERE COMPLETELY INCOMPETANT AND DID NOT HONOR OUR RESERVATION OF A 2 QUEEN BED ROOM FOR 4 PEOPLE. WE LATER FOUND OUT THEY GAVE 2 BEDS TO COUPLES SO 4 UNMARRIED ADULTS HAD TO SLEEP IN A QUEEN BED WITH A JANKY ROLL AWAY WHILE COUPLES WHO WANT TO SLEEP TOGETHER HAD AN EXTRA BED.
THEN WE WALK UPSTAIRS AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE STAGE OF " BATES MOTEL" THE WAYYY OFF BROADWAY PLAY...PEELING WALL PAPER AND DIRTY CARPETS.
WE GOT TO THE ROOM REALIZED THE HEAT DIDNT WORK AND WE TRIED TO TAKE HOT SHOWERS AND WHEN ONE OF US GOT IN WE QUICKLY REALIZED THE TUB HAD A CLOG AND DIRTY WATER ROSE PAST THE ANKLE AND STAYED IN THE TUB FOR 40 MINS AFTER SHE GOT OUT. WE CALLED THE FRONT DESK AND THEY SAID THATS JUST HOW THE HOTEL IS BECAUSE OF THE TRAIN SYSTEM BELOW -_-
UNLESS YOU LIKE THE FEELING OF CAMPING OUT FOR $176 NOT TO MENTION PAYING FOR A ROLL AWAY BC THEY GAVE YOUR ROOM AWAY FOR $25/NIGHT...STAY AWAY!!!
2 stars because I got to check in early. The lobby is deceiving because it's nice. The room and bathroom is not clean. The hallway has stains on the wall. The carpet is coming off the floor. There is a weird stench. Would NEVER stay here again. Not worth the money. The only 2 good things is the location and view from window. If it wasn't for the lack of availability of hotels due to the snow storm, I would have left. I do not recommend this place. Save your money and go somewhere else.
The location can't be beat, but room was dirty, staff rude and not helpful at all and the price was sheer usury!
The staff were not very friendly or helpful
The room was quite shabby with a lot of wear and tear .
There was an extra charge per day for extras such as the internet which we were unaware of .
In the good side , it was in a good location and we had good views
But all in all I wouldn t stay there next time.
Do not EVER stay at this hotel. The room was disgusting, there was mold on the walls. It looked like it hadn t been cleaned in months. There was only 1 plug that worked. The ac was broken, we had to open a window in 30 degree weather to stop sweating. We asked to hang our rooms because of the mold. They denied UNLESS WE PAID TO UPGRADE!!! For a clean room???? Seriously??? Were denied a refund so we couldnt change hotels so we were stuck there for our trip. No nights were comped, no fees were taken away after 2 managers agreed to waive fees. The female manager that worked 1/31 in the morning was extremely rude and would not take the fees away. Started raising her voice at us even after we explained what 2 other managers promised us. The dirty rooms seem to be a huge thing with a lot of people and they don t look anything like they are advertised in their website. I could ve stayed in a way nicer hotel for less money!
Perfectly located in the Times Square area and with several metro stops also nearby. The rooms well, counting that is almost all day outside to take advantage of the city. Staff well, they let us out an hour after the checkout without putting even a glitch
We had a spacious room. Good mattress and good pillows. Abundant hot water in the showers. Wi fi free. The bad: there is no refrigerator in the room. Bathroom sink locked. But when calling reception they sent staff to fix it
The girl who looked after us did not seem eager to inform us
Very nice hotel. Staff were great. Rooms are very old though. No room service and breakfast is very very limited. But good price for area.
Hotel super well located, close to main points of NY, with good accommodation and service, but pay attention to the check-in time on the day of arrival, which starts at 4pm, so you may need to pack your luggage in a trunk and leave for the first day of fun without having spent in the room.
Cheap great hotel ... Had it booked in Germany..right cheap ... Top location on Times Square ... there is also free WiFi throughout the house and calls to Germany are free ...
Clean bed. Nice sized room considering the location which is great btw! Room itself is a little dated and dirty. Mold on the ceiling above the tub and flaking pain on the ceiling in the main room. Elevators are a little slow and always has a line. Nice helpful staff.
Great hotel staff are friendly rooms ok need a bit of an update
Perfect location and very friendly/ helpful staff but the hotel is run down and needs updating. Great for an overnight stay when not using the room for much other than sleeping. Good price for location.
They charge a $30 per day "facility fee" in addition to whatever you paid on your booking. This fee is compulsory so the only reason it is not included in the booking price is to make the hotel seem cheaper than it actually is. This is an awful business practice that more and more hotels are starting to implement. I suggest endorsing hotels that don't use this type of pricing.
Aside from that, the hotel is ok. Great location just a few blocks from Times Square and the South Side of Central Park. Small Rooms, no breakfast.
Zero star
The only positive point is the position of the hotel
Otherwise very very very dirty! The sheets don't even seem washed! With the presence of hairs on the sheets!
It stinks !
The bathroom a disaster
To flee
Excellent location, close to the main tourist spots. Good accommodation despite being old, and good service. The hotel charges taxfee, check in time is 16:00, check out 12:00. I arrived around 12:00 and I didn't want to wait so I paid an extra $ 50.00 and got in early. There's a little Starbucks in there, but it doesn't work all day.
Loved it .....only thing I wish was that there was a Fridge in the Room
Great location...comfy bed... room wasn't ready when arrived on check in day but they did give us a discount... concergie prices are outrageous but it is a hotel... room was decent size but wasn't a fan of the see through bathroom door and no lock...overall clean and good
Very accommodating, professional, held luggage after check out, amazing upgrade into a huge upgraded room, gave us 1 vs 12:00 check out. Great location!
The hotel is getting a bit old. The rooms are generous for NY. The location is perfect in every way.
Nevertheless, I think that the hotel would benefit from a soft renovation. The carpets are getting on in years.
If you don't have very high expectations, the hotel fits. I wouldn't book it anymore.
We were put in a room that came with a balcony and you can have a view of the time square. Room is really decent too.
Excellent hotel 100 meters from times Square good prices for the location where it is located. Don't let yourself be impressed by the carpeted hallways the rooms are spotless and welcoming very courteous staff
"The worst mistake I made in my vacation in NY" I do not know why they say it is a 4 star hotel when, due to my experience, I would not give it one, the rooms are in bad condition and have a terrible smell, the beds sound like old car, I asked the manager to change my room and change me to another equal or worse. I really wanted to make an effort and give my wife and two children a spectacular night near Times Square and what we got was a bad experience with the bad night in that hotel. Exceedingly expensive for what it is, I do not recommend it at all.
0 STARS to start I arrived at the hotel with my family at 5pm had two reservations one of the rooms was ready but mine wasn t the lady told me I had to wait two hours because it was not ready even though my check in was at 4 o'clock I wait Two hours with my two little girls after that time I went to the front desk to know about my room and the answer was that it was not ready yet I had to wait two hours more after I complained they sent me to see another lady who finally managed to get me a room I rode in the elevator I went up to the 20th floor doors opened and that's when the nightmare began the carpets are disgusting the walls need urgent painting the doors of the rooms are embarrassing when I opened the door of my room the thing it was worse the bathroom looked like a public bathroom when you take a shower the water does not go you have to shower as if you were in a pool the air did not work I had to sleep with the windows open to not die of heat this hotel is a nightmare nothing to do with the photos they have on the page should give them shame to cheat on people that way I recommend you never go to this hotel my family and I will never go back
The location, views to the 7th spectacular bird. Very clean and without odors, very suitable for family. It is close to everything, ATMs, shops, pharmacies, churches, theaters, parks ... We go every year since 2010.
It was rundown! Wallpaper was peeling in the rooms. The bed was lumpy and old.
Bathroom was dinghy and dirty.
I completely agree with all of the others that say false advertising. What you see online is not what you get. The bathroom is horrible, the room, hallways, carpet's dirty. Couldn't use AC because they said the city monitors that, which I've never heard of in my life. Only good thing is location. The beds slant and are not comfortable at all. They should not be allowed to falsely advertise their rooms. Absolutely horrible. Would not recommend this hotel.
Hotel lobby area very nice on arrival, sone of the staff were helpful others utterly useless.
Good location. Rooms very basic and in need of decorating. Got moved rooms twice they put is next to the lift shaft and was noisiest hotel room I have ever witnessed then gave us a room with a broken bed!
To top thing off it s been two weeks and they still haven t refunded my security deposit which they said would be returned once we check out.
Stay here again? Very unlikely despite location.
The covers and room smelled very unpleasant. The service guy gave us an attitude because he had to come up because the lights in the room wouldn't turn on. The room was a joke. Don't stay on the 17th floor!
A big Thank you to the manager for his rudeness (Mr. Choy). If you're having a bad day, remember 1 thing, do NOT take it out on anyone.
The ONLY nice thing about this hotel is how close it is to Central Park and Times Square. Other than that, I do not recommend it.
I have to say that the hotel is Mega Central. You go out and stand in the crowd of this metropolis. The rooms weren't great. One looks in vain for the restaurant and for breakfast there is something to take away from the "hotel bar". The staff was very friendly and the rooms on the whole clean.
Only the location gets the hotel four stars.
Maybe I'll book a room there again for the weekend.
Old rooms with old linen. Hard pillow. Delayed elevators. The only saving grace is the great location.
Great place. Can get a little busy (it's NY, so), but great service.
Pretty rundown, and in a part of town that only tourists would want to visit. But it's cheap, clean enough, and convenient to the subway.
Our large suite was filthy, paint, mold coming off walls. Thick dirt build up base boards counters, tub & sinks won't drain. Outdated old furniture. Oldest ,dirty microwave, with mini fridge, called full kitchen. Old carpet, wallpaper peeling, etc. Staff was very defensive.Wish I could post my gross pics of so called Suite. Don't waste money, run down!!!
Great hotel in central NY. Ideal for every tourist.
Great location. The renovated floor is the best to stay on however the walls are thin and you will be able to hear your neighbors full conversation.
Simply a disgusting hotel. They post pictures of their one floor of remodeled rooms. Unfortunately my wife didn't look through reviews before booking. Like many others have said, it is just blatant false advertising. They know what they are doing, don't believe the canned responses to reviews. Front desk wasn't very friendly and you could tell they deal with the same complaints constantly. I heard several other guests complaining about it as well. Floors, hallways, and rooms were dirty. Stay away. Here are pictures of what awaits you in the rooms, mold and dirt.
Seems quite well
