Great place to stay, close to the main shopping and Arts area of Boston
Super friendly staff, clean big rooms and a superb location. I'll be back.
Recently my family stayed at the Colonnade because my oldest son had an audition at NEC. The entire hotel staff was so supportive and welcoming. The concierge arranged to have a ballroom be available so that my son could practice before his audition. The doormen were giving my son encouragement and telling him to smile. I cannot speak highly enough about the hotel and its staff!
Great location. Short walk to/from Copley Square where the Logan Express drops off and picks up. Super convenient and a good value for Boston.
Will be a better place to stay once the refurbish is complete. Great location for back bay area. Very nice staff. Overall a bit tired and in need of the upgrade that's underway.
Clean, nice room, convenient to the green line. Restaurant/bar ridiculously expensive but hotel is nice. Make reservations at giacomos around the corner and breakfast at Thornton s to save some $$$
Excellent hotel, clean and up to date ammineties. HD TV with free wi-fi. Comfortable stay, excellent staff and room service.
We have stayed at The Colonnade for many years and after our most recent stay (8/10-8/12) we will not be back unless many changes are made. This hotel has been our go to because of its location, service and rooftop pool. Unfortunately, the property looks tired and is in need of a complete renovation. The lobby is blah, restaurant and bar is boring and uninspiring with a limited yet very expensive menu. The hallways are dark and old looking. The rooms still look okay however, the HVAC system is horrendous. The hallways are either too hot or cold and the same holds true for the rooms. They have an old noisy clunker system in a box that is very noisy depending on the room you get. Lastly, the roof top pool, which has been recently renovated has been the biggest disappointment. We come here to specifically enjoy the only rooftop pool in a Boston hotel only to be met with massive crowds that are not guests at the hotel. They sell day passes to non guests which overcrowds the pool from when it opens til closing. We have not been able to get a seat in the last 5 times we have stayed. The management needs to stop selling day passes to non guests when the hotel is at capacity, especially Thur-Sun.
We decided after this weekend we have had enough. The rates aren t cheap and even when you get a good deal it really isn t worth the frustrations I have mentioned above. There are many other properties that are much nicer. What a shame because we really liked this property.
Such a beautiful and comfortable hotel. Conveniently located directly across from the Prudential Center- literally across the street. The subway entrance was right outside the main doors and parking was very easy. The doorman was the nicest man and it was really nice to be greeted so warmly coming and going. The room was comfortable, great pillows (I always bring one but that wasn't needed here). Showers are powerful and HOT! Will definitely stay again when in Boston.
Hotel was great, but construction going on right across the hall made it impossible to sleep in. Had they mentioned the construction on check-in we would have asked for a different room. Instead we were woken up to the sounds of hammering that felt like it was happening on our front door. Not a great experience.
Rooms and service we're very nice. Staff was friendly.
On a more recent visit the hotel was nearly empty. I did change rooms from the Huntington Ave side with loud traffic to the South Side neighborhood view, which was more quiet. Oddly, my upgraded, larger room did not have a sitting chair. When I traded for a room across the hall, while smaller, it had a comfy chair. The front desk staff didn't seem to even know about the sitting chair. All very confusing.
Review from my prior visit: Great location, comfortable rooms. However, if you are any sort of a light sleeper kiss your night's sleep goodbye. Room doors are loud when neighbors start moving about. One a weekday after about 7 am it is near impossible to sleep.
Great location and service. Clean, comfortable and quiet.
I'd stay here again just for the roof top pool. Great spot and great Central location. Excellent staff, very clean.
After dealing with an extremely personal medical issue in which the hotel violated privacy, I get my brand new car back from valet with major damage to the wheel. After security in person aggreeing the damage was obviously fresh, the hotel denied all responsibility and is it owning up to the damage. Filing formal complaints with proper companies as well as leaving a review on all available platforms.
Great location with easy access to the Prudential Centre, walking distance to Fenway Park and has a Trolley Tour stop right out the front. Although the walls are very thin though so could hear the noisy neighbours very clearly. I would stay here again.
Update, with two added stars: The general manager reached out to me not because of this review, but because of the customer satisfaction survey post-stay. That is important, and they did what they could to make me feel valued as a customer. I respect that, and it was done in the best way possible, and for the best reasons. I truly believe they will act to make sure this doesn't happen again. Please note that they did NOT ask me to change this review, nor do I know if they've even seen it.
Really overpriced, with an overpriced mediocre French restaurant. My room had a broken do not disturb button that was never fixed (despite calling the desk), a room that was cleaned despite asking both service and the front desk to leave it alone, a fire alarm that went off in the middle of the night with no indication that it was a fire alarm and no indication from staff that all was clear when it was shut off a few minutes later, and finally a leak in the ceiling dripping onto the carpeted floor. At that point they moved me for my final night to a suite, and acted as if I should be overjoyed to have a night in a large (unsold) room with the same size bed to sleep in (it was already 9 pm). The front desk was apathetic at best whenever I called, except about the leak. Oh, and the rooftop pool was closed for the season (it's in the 80s every day still, with lows in the 60s at night....).
Excellent service with friendly staff. Nice views and easily accessible to public transportation. Very clean rooms and complementary items were placed in there. Overall positive experience
Great hotel in a great location. Easy to get to any part of the city from here. Room was pristine, very comfortable with a great view of the back bay.
Decent place, not as great as I was expecting. Breakfast not great, pillows flat, whole place could use renovating.
Booked the Colonnade at the last minute for a weekend away, largely due to the excellent reviews. It was a small simple room, a little worn (wallpaper and bath fixtures) but alright. The bathroom was a disaster! The grout in the shower was entirely black and pink mold and mildew. The shower itself didn't drain well so the first shower left us standing in 3" of water. The bathroom's fan didn't work at all so there was nowhere for steam and smells to go besides into the room. And while we were able to connect to the wifi we were completely unable to use it even for simple internet browsing (maybe because of the proximity to the elevators?). When we notified the front desk of all this they cleared the shower drain a bit but didn't resolve the issue fully. The grout was still filthy and the fix for the fan was apparently just to open the room's window. We had no further advice about the wifi and no apologies for our troubles. Would not recommend.
The rooms don't include a microwave or fridge, but everything else is good.
We had a great experience with the hotel staff. Norman, provided excellent service by suggesting restaurants, and entertainment. My parents went with us and Norman went out of his way to greet them and answer all of their questions. He was the highlight of our hotel stay.
The manager, Chris Howe, and Miah, at the front desk, provided excellent customer service.
Thank you Norman, Miah, and Chris for making our first trip to Boston so enjoyable. We look forward to seeing you all soon.
Sincerely,
Rachel Garza
Rooms desperately need updating. Beds are actual doubles not queens. Overall very overpriced for what you get.
Great room, large and good decorated. If the hotel was close to Downtown it would be perfect.
Staff was friendly and humorous.
A very pleasant stay. Hotel room was excellent, front desk and other staff very nice and helpful with directions and advice. Housekeeping did a great job each day.
Was here for a wedding; seems like a place to host smaller events since there is not that much space
Great service. Rooms are clean. Convenient and central location in Boston. They even left a cheese/fruit plate in the room for us on the second day. That was a pleasant surprise even though we have had too much food outside already to fully enjoy this plate. But nonetheless a nice gesture. I'm just disappointed that the outdoor swimming door is not open until Memorial Day. But I understand their reasoning. I would come back to stay.
I visited The Colonnade for a site visit. The rooms looked very spacious with floor to ceiling windows. The wedding ballroom has its own secluded area from the hotel for all things needed for the reception.
Came for a brunch. Food was awesome. Restrooms were private.
The location is really great but a few things in our room were broken. The parking was also very tight and expensive. Next time I go to Boston I'll be staying somewhere else.
The service here is beyond excellent! The staff is great and the rooms are super comfortable. I highly recommend!
The location is really great as it provides easy access to the Prudential building and the Prudential subway station. The rooms are on the small side, especially the bathrooms. The service has been poor. Many of the employees are rude and slow to assist.
One of Boston's best hotels considered value for money, location, subway at the door (don't forget the extreme cold and snow in winter). Modernized and large rooms.
I was not very pleased with check in at this hotel. I was also a little upset when check in had processed my payment twice. The accounting department helped me quickly, thankfully. The reason why this hotel is getting 5 stars from me is that the support staff were amazing. I interacted with concierge, bellmen, engineering, and housekeeping and they were all great. The amenities at the Colonnade are great: K cups, water, tea. The toiletries are of very high quality. The sheets and towels are soft to touch. I had to spend my last night in Boston at another popular hotel with my family member, and sadly I felt cheated and longed for the Colonnade.
We booked a premium double room for my family - two adults and two children for three nights. It cost over $2000 and two of the lights i the room didn't work, the room itself was cramped and there were major issues using the pool. There is a small rooftop pool which was one of the main reasons i booked The Colonnade i booked - we'd travelled a long distance he week before from Niagara Falls - and my 12 year old deserved a hotel with a pool. If you are a hotel resident there is no policy to allow you access to sun loungers. Non-residents walk in, go straight to the lifts and occupy all the seating without even paying. This is not managed by hotel staff. On the third day we eventually complained and we received a complimentary drink as compensation. I asked for a late check out and was offered one hour. In retrospect I would definitely have booked somewhere else. Door staff ere fabulous.
One of the few rooftop pools in Boston, making this hotel worth the price any day.
Outstanding location, walking distance to South End for dinner, back bay for shopping and Fenway for a Sox game.
I will stay here again when I get the chance.
Had a pool party here for my birthday. Rented a cabana. The cabanas are super duper expensive and they have a minimum food/drink spending rate.
But again it was a birthday celebration, specifically mine, so it was worth it and it was 104 degrees that day
- Excellent location in Back bay (beautiful residential neighborhood), metro 20 meters (Line E Prudential) and Prudential Center mall opposite.
- Room with well used space, coffee maker, minibar and the best bed / pillow I had in a hotel
- In the reservation it was not detailed but there is free breakfast (which for them was little) that included: Coffee, tea, water, juice, yogurt, fruits, cookies and muffins (For me it was perfect)
- Last but not least all the employees are super friendly and helpful, they also let us check in 2 hours before free of charge and check out 1 hour later.
Just wanted to thank you for making our stay very enjoyable in Boston. We enjoyed the view from the room and the special atmosphere at the hotel. Thank you again
The Colonnade was a great hotel for my purposes which was business. Very convenient to public transportation. Restaurant in hotel was good for a quick breakfast. Nice sized room with two office chairs for good sized work table. Nice TV and choice of channels. Easy check in and out. Clean. Lots of restaurants in the area. Great place to walk around - feels very safe. Would stay here again for business and perhaps for pleasure.
Perfect location in a lovely, top shelf hotel. If you are coming to Boston for a Red Sox game (or for any reason), then the Colonnade is a perfect choice for your hotel stay. It is an easy walk to Fenway, and directly across from the Prudential Center, so there are many easy options for food and shopping. The hotel staff were professional and very helpful and the rooms have floor to ceiling windows with great city views. Parking is on site and easy. In short, a terrific place to use as your base while visiting Boston.
Courteous staff. Relaxing setting and nice, clean well appointed room. Nice bathroom and good coffee.
Has very good quality rooms, beds, tvs, towels, etc. Quick check-in, elevators, services. Parking on premises with in/out privileges for $50/day.
Parking was not paid. It was $48 per 24 hours. Small rooms. Bathroom shower and sink backed up when used. Toilet bowl kept running all night and day. No free breakfast. For the pricey cost of the room, one would think there would be basic accommodations like paid parking and breakfast. Wasn't impressed.
The Colonnade Boston Hotel was a bit disappointing. The bathroom was oddly cramped despite the marble sink creating the illusion of class. Contemporary decorating could not make up for the small uncomfortable beds, unopenable windows and lack of available power outlets. However, the staff was an absolute pleasure, and the bar (while expensive) turned me on to a spiced rum that may be my new favorite.
Except in a world of handheld devices there are barely any outlets in the rooms to charge them.
We felt comfortable staying here even in this time of Covid. We liked that housekeeping wasn't entering our room and we needed something it was left at our door. The morning wrapped snacks and coffee was a welcomed surprise.
Good hotel - all the rates in Boston are too high, but the staff and amenities at this hotel made the fee bearable... close to Hynes Center and the Prudential Mall walkability rating a 9.5
Wonderful location with a friendly and professional staff that goes out of their way to say yes and enhance their guests Boston experience. Rooftop pool was very lively. The food and drinks were great and not unreasonably priced. We had a Luxe king facing Huntington on a high floor so no noise from street but hallway noise did seem to penetrate room more than most places that we have stayed. Bathrooms were a bit small but overall room size was very adequate and room amenities and furnishings were good quality. In room Keurig was a particularly nice feature. Housekeeping was friendly and our room was super clean on arrival and kept that way for our 4 night stay. The best part for us was the location. It is perfectly located and made our stay so easy to enjoy the best of Boston.
The service is awesome. Super friendly employees who are knowledgeable and responsive. Disappointed by the size of the room and the bathroom may as well be a closet
Beautiful room. Well lit, clean, modern. The parking fee is almost $50 fyi. Other than that, great stay.
The Colonnade states this is a 4-star hotel. The Colonnade does not live up to this. No hot water one night (Engineer states this is due to the boiler not on). Only having cold water was an unpleasant surprise, especially when I wanted to bathe my tired baby but all I had was cold water. It took about an hour to get hot water. We weren't offered any help with our luggage when we arrived. Room service ends at 11pm. Wallpaper falling off the bathroom wall. Room service gave us stale potatoes with our breakfast. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. I was expecting a 4-star hotel and my stay definitely did not live up to that expectation.
Gross bathrooms bad stafff outdated and overpriced .... best word to describe.. ICK
Disappointed in our stay. I pulled up at the hotel and the bellhop kind of rudely asked if he could help us then vaguely pointed to the parking lot and said to go to the second floor but no signs for the hotel at parking and not clear what to do until I called the front desk and they told me to park anywhere and take the elevator down. There had been no offer to take our bags into the hotel for us before we parked.
The front desk staff were very nice.
My friend who was traveling with us found her room dirty. They did promptly move her but then that room (on the 11th floor) smelled like chorline.
On the plus side, our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable and the fluflly robes were nice. However, the sliding door to the bathroom was not working and kept opening up.
Overall I did not think this hotel was worth the $300/night sticker price
Excellent hotel! Rooftop pool was amazing! Staff was friendly and service was great!
A very comfortable hotel with a very pleasant and helpful staff. Very well located (shops, metro, restaurant, ...). And to finish, a very good bed.
First rate experience in every way. Very helpful staff.
Great stay, especially if you are going to the Museum of Fine Arts. We just parked the car for 2.5 days and walked. Great place.
Best bed and room and best staff we encountered in our 21 day tour of Canada and New England
Great experience at the rooftop and pool/bar. Would highly recommend.
I stayed here during the summer but didn't even have time to visit the rooftop, so don't hold that against me.
Internet access was pricy, unfortunate considering that the rooms themselves also prohibit any sort of cell phone reception, so I couldn't even use my MiFi to circumvent the reception issue.
The rooms are a bit dated, though mixed in upgrades and the hallways are a bit dark, which doesn't fit with the fun vibe they seem to want to portray. All in all, rooms were clean, the front desk was helpful and the location can't be beat, but I just wanted more after all of the rave reviews from friends.
Friendly staff, except the room was becoming run down and there was a slight layer of dust.
Rooftop pool! That's all I'm saying. No, but the rooms are nice, great floor to ceiling views of downtown, and courteous staff. It's pricy though.
Not the 4 diamond experience the hotel advertises. Old rooms, uncomfortable beds, poor service and even uncompassionate about my experience.
It would have been a great experience if not a bad first impression with the gentleman checking us in on Thursday evening. He was abrupt and not very friendly.
Very nice accommodations. But honestly over-priced. I think this is driven by location, location, location.
Friendly and helpful staff, I got the royal treatment and so did my dog. Room service was friendly and not too long a wait, the food was excellent and it's right next to the Pru. Highly recommend.
Having read the reviews that talked about the renovations, I was more than a little apprehensive about staying here but as it turned out, this hotel is great.
The rooms are spacious and clean. The fittings and furnishings are modern and there are plenty of places to charge your devices. The television is large and provides a lot of options including device connection via HDMI and casting.
The shower is great with fine needle point jets and the beds and pillows are very comfortable.
The desk staff are very helpful and were happy to book and print tickets for us.
The hotel location is ideal. Close enough to walk to town but far enough to avoid the noise. It's very centrally located, just 15 minutes drive from the airport, with a metro station directly outside and a very large shopping centre across the road. It's about 1km walk from the beautiful Boston Public Park and there's a pharmacy and supermarket across the road.
The pool is open in the summer months only and the restaurant is currently closed due to renovation but there are plenty of other places to eat close by. There is no dust or noise from the renovations and you won't even notice them.
Disabled access is good, though the room doors may be a little heavy.
Highly recommended. I'd absolutely stay here again.
Staff was beyond helpful when I left my computer behind. The housekeeping staff secured it and had it overnighted to me the next day. Very professional!
I was there for business and only had to stay one night but it was a great experience. Clean, newly renovated, friendly staff and great location in the Back Bay.
Excelent location and very good room and bathroom! Great experience.
I stayed at the Colonnade for a conference at the convention center and had a great experience. Friendly staff and lots of little perks - free wi-fi, free bottled water in the room every day. And the best breakfast buffet I've ever had in the hotel restaurant.
