I did not sign with them. The sales person at my door insisted to see my bill. After repeating 3 times I would hear his offer, but without giving or showing my bill to him, he left. His answer was :"The only thing I can do with your bill is to pay it". It doesnt matter. It is my personal information and I dont want to share it. So what? I can say they have at least awful customer service.

I had an interview with the call centre supervisor aj grill at 5pm and had arrived 15 minutes early to show my promptness. I ended up meeting with him at 6:30pm! How does a supervisor schedule an interview and end up doing it 1.5 hours later? There was no excuses or forthcoming clarification from him on his lateness. Needless to say this shows how incompetent the call centre is and I will not accept the job if as it reports into this supervisor. I thought this company didn't exist after my experience with the interview, by the way which was NOT a real interview. If you post on craiglist and you only ask me 3 questions that lasts less than 10 minutes how are you interviewing me? Shady supervisory who is on a strong power trip.
If this company took the time to explain their contracts no one would sign them unless if you need a new unit that you can't afford to purchase. The prices are high especially their carbon offsets promising to help the environment when no one in the call center can answer questions about it when I signed up 3 years ago. I realized it was easy to get out of a contract by changing the name on my gas bill. I got no letter or calls to reinstate the contract. That's the only good thing about this company is they don't follow up on this.
Wow, I wish I knew their bad reputation beforehand. They burned me into getting a water heater, and then tried to burn me into getting a new furnace by red tagging it. I am now familiar with the "red tag season" deal that these companies pull off.. ironically it all happens during winter season. Mike is a liar in the customer service dept. This industry has many people with NO conscience or guilt
One day Summit salesgirl came to our door posing as an Embridge representative. She asked for our electricity bill and assured us that company s products will save us a lot of money. She also assured that that there will be no charges at all. But Summit duped us. They are fleecing innocent people. Now they are asking $150 per month for 10 years... which is way too much..... I am going to complain about them at Ministry of Consumer Affairs. I just want everyone to be aware of these thieves. Don t let them into your houses.... STAY SAFE
These guys are a bunch of scammers. I agree with all the other bad reviews on here. All the 5 star reviews on here are complete BS. First of all you will not save money with them. When gas prices go down, which they have been, you will be stuck paying the higher prices. Also they wanted a letter from my attorney showing that I had moved or else threaten to send the closing contract fee to collections. The fee was over 200 dollars. Avoid this company like the plague. I'm surprised they are still around.
I honestly don't know how this company could ever get a positive review. Let me start off by saying that I am not the type to just go out and slander companies. I leave tons of great glowing reviews for businesses that deserve it. This company is about the worst I have ever dealt with. Their door-to-door salesmen lie and will say whatever is needed to get the sale. My husband was tricked into verbally agreeing to something at the door which locked us into a several-year contract. During this time we were paying over 30 cents a cubic meter while the natural gas rate was closer to 11 cents. Our bill was more than double what it would have been without this contract. I paid them faithfully for 2 years and never complained. I just moved a month ago and my new property doesn't have gas - just propane. I cancelled my contract with Summitt because it's the law that they cannot charge me if I can't get gas at my new place. I received some threatening calls from Summit within the first month I moved. They needed proof that my new house didn't get gas. I am personally astounded by this because all you need to do is call up Enbridge - the company their charges appeared on, and they would confirm this. But I sent them the documentation they asked for and they stopped calling me. Then I hear 2 weeks later from a collections agency. Yep, they sent me to collections. At this point I was livid and called and they said the tax bill, receipt/details from my lawyer on the house purchase, and the bill from my alarm company at my new address were apparently not enough evidence. They needed a written letter from my lawyer confirming the new place didn't get gas. They never called me or notified me that they needed this, just sent me to collections. I can't believe a company gets away with this type of behavior and will use the ability to threaten someone's personal credit score as a way to get money. I will be sure to warn everyone I know - online and offline to never give this company a dime of your hard-earned money. Just search what people have to say about them - the truth is out there. I am one of just many victims. I have no idea how their employees sleep at night.
A young girl came to our door and identified herself as representing this company. She came asking for information or otherwise trying to get inside the house to allegedly find the information herself. I think that is completely out of place, nobody should feel entitled to ask for any kind of information or suggest they can find it out if you let them in. She came back later and we had a long conversation. She assumed I knew a lot of things, so I had her explain quite a lot of things. She was polite and apparently in good faith. She even took notes of my questions and concerns. However, there was no way I was going to trust her and I let her know. She left in good terms, or so I believe.
WARNING. DO NOT WELCOME THESE PEOPLE INTO YOUR HOME. DO NOT SIGN ANY PAPERS THEY OFFER YOU.
Yesterday afternoon will have been the second time that we've had a door-to-door sales rep from Summitt Energy visit trying to persuade us to sign papers.
The first time was a woman, who, to her credit, was in professional clothing, but nothing with logos or badges indicating who she represented. After lying to me about representing a company "part of the government," she asked to see my paper bill to check if I qualified for a discount on my energy bill. I asked her SEVERAL times what company she was with, as I wasn't just going to hand over any personal information without knowing. She evaded the question every time by asserting that she just wanted to check if we were eligible for this discount. I ended up getting curt with her because she was not answering my question, and was not forthcoming about anything I needed to know. I told her that I don't get paper bills, and I get all of my billing via email. What did she suggest, but to SEE my digital bills, in my inbox, ON MY CELLPHONE. Are you kidding me? Yes, that makes perfect sense... I'm going to hand my cellphone with my email open over to a complete stranger so she can look at my energy bill. So I flat out told her no, and sent her on her way.
Yesterday, my husband was home alone and received TWO more visitors from Summit. Two young twenty-somethings dressed in their street clothes, grubby, unkempt, unshaven, completely unmarked and unrepresentative of any company they might work for, except for a business card (Rep. No.: BL 2043 / Rep. Name: Chris C). They went through the spiel to try and get our billing information, but my husband explained that I took care of the bills and I was currently not home. They pressed on and on, with my dog barking at their intrusion in the background. When my husband had had enough, he again told them NO.
But here's the kicker... before they left, they asked to "bum a smoke" off of him. Seriously?! We later saw them footing it around town, looking as unprofessional and dirty as ever, likely trying their luck with many of our neighbours.
Summitt Energy, get your grimy "sales reps" off our front porches and off our streets.
They scammed my poor mother into an overpriced energy contract locked in for 5 years. Thankful for the Ontario Energy Board who closed our complaint and got our contract cancelled. When you call Summitt, they pretend their phone lines don't work, that they can't hear you, and their door-to-door sales are forceful and make vulnerable elderly persons sign contracts where they show false market prices and false provincial benefits. During COVID, as its a energy reseller, there were no offsets and my mother was paying even on regular instances more than twice of her neighbours who were with a direct provider. She has been overcharged for more than 5 years, and had no idea. Avoid at all costs, and please work directly with the Ontario Energy Board to get out of these absolutely unethical contracts. Consumer Protection should shut these guys down.
Absolute Nightmare. Liars, scam artists, they hire young people to go door to door. You call asking for help, they ignore you, they argue with you or they give you attitude. Renee at ext. 2022 was the by far the most disrespect, rude employee i have ever spoken to. Customer service my ass. They can't handle speaking to calmly to anyone. Please people. I am begging others to stand with me and boycott this company and run it into bankruptcy. This company needs to be shut down immediately before it steals from others. Im a single mother that worked full time and was never home and yet i had 400 bills each month.
How the hell does that make sense. Please help my shut this company down
Summitt Energy is a total scam! Do not let them speak and just wait for your provider to send you an official mail. P.S. Negative five stars and it is not 1/5 stars.
They showed up at my door at 7:15pm with no notice or invitation. Claiming they need to confirm something on my Hydro bill, 2nd or 3rd page. I asked why that couldn't be checked on the back end from an office and he seemed stunned. I asked for a card and he handed me a blank card with no rep name or rep number. Cleary a scam.
I was with them because I signed with them not knowing how much of a scam they really are never again! They came to my door last month because my contract was over and they wanted me to sign a new one ....I told the guy no but he stood at my door for a half hour arguing with me . I pay way less now that i am not with them!
Google should allow giving 0 star to companies like these. Complete scammers, cheaters and liars. I guess that is why they have zero online presence. I am going to file a consumer complaint against them. The agent impersonated an Enercare agent and misled me in signing documents. Horrible horrible company.
extremely rude people coming to the door. enter our property, try to shake us down then take it personally when we say no thank you. and then they walk away cursing at us. if any rep from this company or any subsidiary of this company ever sets foot on our property again we will be charging them with trespassing and harassment. this is your first and final warning!
and this will not let me post without giving a rating of stars. i HAD to give it 1 star so it would post. it is a false rating, i give them NO STARS!!!!
just because you have a shirt with a logo that matches your paper doesn't mean you are legit. this guy wore disgusting lime green shorts...not professional whatsoever!
We just got our first hydro bill with summitt and it's double what we pay normally from hydro one. So much for being a company that supposedly tries to help people save money, cancelling immediately.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. Nothing but a joke of a business. They are a scan and their employees are the rudest people I have ever spoke with in any customer service industry.
I have never seen such a poorly run company. They took us out of town for sales work. I had to share a double bed. In the morning no one was on time to get started because our manager was to busy picking up hungover employees around town. They lie and mislead customers. Glad I quit and took a bus home.
Well, what can I say? They deliver what the promise, and they do it very efficiently. The customer support is great, they answer calls quickly and are willing to listen to you which is what makes me stay with them. I will recommend them to anyone, happily!
Stay away from thesis guys, Total scam. Their guys came knocking on my door, pretending to be an official government employee, by asking to see my bill and convincing me that they are here for my own benift, by "protecting me" from the high rates. anyway, I fell in the trap, and since then my hydro bill is growing higher and higher. the huge scam is the guy didn't tell that I have to pay around $200 for the cancellation fee. be aware, just control your hydro on your own.
New Water Heater Installed Summit installed my new water heater on June 11, 2018. It was a fantastic experience. I was able to schedule installation for next day morning after noticing my old enercare water heater was leaking . Very happy and would use them again.
A salesperson went to my grandpa's house at the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic and went INTO HIS HOUSE (they shouldn't have even been near a man clearly past the age of 60) to sell him cameras for his home. My grandpa had just gotten a smartphone because my brother set him up and showed him how to call people on it. Meanwhile these people try to set up a whole surveillance system when he doesn't even have wifi in his home anymore! He tried telling them that he couldn't use the system but they insisted. What good is a home security system when you can't access the footage? I am beyond angry that a company would be so irresponsible not just during a pandemic that could kill my grandpa but also to take advantage of an older man who doesn't understand technology such as this. My mom had to go through calling the company and telling them not to continue servicing my grandpa's house and that once this pandemic is over they can come collect their cameras, etc. I highly recommend never using this company as they clearly don't have ethics.
Scumbag showed up at my house unannounced. Throws Enbrigdes name around implying he represents them. Wants into the house to "inspect" the hot water tank. When questioned his relationship with Enbridge he got all defensive (rude) and tried to change the subject . Went through his BS and I basically had to kick him off my property. Nice try Edward Kudjeski you piece of sh...
They are in Ottawa now! BEWARE!! Show them nothing! Give them nothing! Don't even open your door if you see "Summit Energy" on I.D. or a binder cover conveniently shown like some sort of pass or something.
SCAM SCAM SCAM Run far away. They tell you it will save you money. They tell you that the Global fee is already on your current bills its not! My first bill doubled. They are heartless individuals. When I asked how they slept at night they said very well. They give you the run around when it comes to management first saying they don't have any so when I ask him then who signs his checks he says no ones available. Then they try to give me the run around by saying I am talking to a manager but its their co worker. Now they want $500 from me. I have no idea how they sleep at night knowing they are ruin peoples lives. How can you work for a company, how do you not feel guilt for what that company stands for. That CEO the employees and everyone in there you all have no souls
I got a call from my aunt who lives in St. Catherine s, about a Summitt Energy salesman that came to her door on Monday, July 13th. My aunt is 92, legally blind and is on oxygen 24/7.
My aunt has been using Direct Energy for many years for her hot water heater rental and maintenance contracts and has had a comfort level for years that they would meet all of her heating, hot water and cooling needs.
The Summitt Energy salesman led her to believe that she could no longer use Direct Energy for her hot water service and that he could supply her with a new hot water heater rental. My aunt was very upset with this news and felt she was in a bind.
He then told her she needed to sign a contract for an Evergreen Program and that he needed to call the office to complete the order. At that point he asked her age and when she told him she was 92, he worried her even more by saying that because of her age, the order might not go through. He went on to advise her not to mention her age on the phone and if asked, he advised her to be vague and just say she was getting up there.
My aunt was quite upset by this point and followed this salesman s instructions, again assuming that she had no choice. She signed the contracts.
When I contacted Summitt Energy on my Aunt s behalf I was stonewalled for 5 days by different customer service agents. I finally reached a Manager who insisted that her caregiver and my Aunt had to call in together to get the contracts cancelled. Finally we got the contracts cancelled.
Summit is awful, they fraudulently gained access to my Enbridge account and signed me on to their service. When I demanded they stop, they acknowledged their sales staff member's actions and promised to release me without penalty. Two years later, without hearing anything since then they ruined my credit rating over $200! Money that they promised me they wouldn't charge me in the first place. Trying to get this rectified now and report these con artists.
Avoid this company at all cost. We signed up with their Sales Rep hoping for a better rate on our Electricity ended up paying more due to what I call "punishment fees" from federal regulators, etc on our bill for getting a discounted price. Summitt Energy will not disclose this piece of information. Do not trust the 5 star ratings here. They are all fake and done so the overall rating shows as good. Avoid Avoid Avoid this company.
If there was an option to sign it as negative stars I would choose that. They signed up a service from someone who is not the account holder and over the phone when asked so if the neighbor down the street was at my house and said yes sign me up for service you would add it to my account? They said yes
Do not even speak to this company. Everything they offer is a trick that will cost you more in the long run. They are extraordinarily dishonest. The fact they're allowed to stay in business is testimony to how ineffectual our Ministry of Government and Consumer Services is.
Trying to get ahold of you to pay my fee and no one is answering. I am calling the number on the letter and no one is answering the phone for the past week. I am only getting an answering machine that fails to tell me which company I have reached and if my call will be returned.
Showed up at our apartment just after 9:00pm on a Friday. Was very pushy, wanted to see our bill, made it seem like we were already with them but needed to sign something extra. Kept pushing to see our bill and we refused. Ridiculous, clearly a scam.
Two years ago they had two salesman s came to my door and said I can install my thermostat for free and a home monitoring camera $10 each month for just one year term. I thought that was a good deal so I allowed them to installed. Now this company is still charging me $40 from Enbridge and nonstop! Someone please help me stop their scamming!
Sales guy came to my door today. He was polite but it quickly became clear he was trying to scam his way into a new account. He insisted he see my hydro bill and that he is bound by "government protocol" to see if I qualify for savings. I asked him to leave some literature so I can read and guess what, he "didn't have any". SCAM. I suspect he'll be back to key my car. A polite scammer is still a scammer. Why are they still in business?
Pond scum scammers calling themselves "sales people". If you fell for their sales tactics, you have 10 days by-law to cancel your contract - as per gov of canada legislation (specifically meant to deal with scum like this company).
From their sales representative through their customer service guy, EveryoneI worked with did an exceptional job, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and took the time to answer all of my questions in great detail. Reasonable plan. Been using their service for years!
The customer service is absolutely deplorable. I was calling on behalf of my neighbour during the evening time and was assured the account will be cancelled but I wanted to find out more about why an agent would sign up a man that english is his second language and in a wheelchair, I requested to speak with a supervisor. I was transfer to an another employee who was not a supervisor when I pressed further for his name and title. I hung up and called back another day and I was told there were no supervisors and I would have to call back in the morning to speak with one. REALLY!!! I pressed my luck and called another day and again I was told there was no supervisor in the evening to call back tomorrow. How are you running your call center when there is no supervisor to take calls in the evening?
Update for Owner. Thanks for your caring but you obviously don't have a clue how your call center is being managed as I have been asking for a supervisor call back for the past 4 months and no one will call me back in the evening.
Had two young sales reps come to my door in St. Catharines stating they needed to look at the white pipes and tag on our rebuilt high efficiency furnace. I had recently bought the house with no information about this company they said they wanted to make sure I was getting a rebate, why couldn t this be done over the phone as looking at a furnace will not translate into confirming that rebates transferred into my account. After seeing a lot of reviews and noting that the house I bought was owned by an elderly man it seems like this company is looking for easy targets for expensive and contracts. Just the fact that these guys came in close contact with my and my girlfriend during a global virus pandemic shows some kind of disregard for the wellbeing of others. Anyways maybe this was a scam as I asked to see their business card and the guy showed me an ID card saying he is is with Google nest , no direct cards affiliated with summit energy, very strange.
Awful company. Sent in my changed address 3 years ago and now my account is in collections. They claim I never sent the nessicary information to cancel which isn't true. I will be making a complaint with the peel regional police in regards to summitt energy and their fraudulent behaviour. I encourage anyone with and issue to do the same.
I called summit energy and the supervisor could not answer any my questions, why has my gas increased by 63% in ten months and my hydro by 30% in ten moths. Everyone avoid summit energy they going to suck your back account, I payed to summitt in the first ten months of 2017 more then $1.300, when with Enbridge I payed $740 in the first ten months of 2016. How much Enbridge can increase 10% every year? that means for me around $90 every year, in 5 years is $450, i already payed $560 increase to summitt in 10 months. I have to put 1 star to post my disgusting situation with this company, but i like to put a -10 stars. and at the end if you want to cancel before the five years you have to pay a early cancellation fee, who is going to refund me for all the extra money i payed?
Scam artist if you cancel and don't pay they will take your tax money avoid like the plague this is the worst company going we provided change of address so that we wouldn't have to pay the $250 and they still took our money!!!!
Would give no stars if I could. Extremely pushy door to door salesman who wouldn't take "I'm not interested" for an answer. Protip to Summitt: Train your staff to accept a "No" without any push back. A simple response of "Thank you, have a nice day" would not have resulted in this review.
Scam!! There door to door sales rep don't tell you anything about contracts makes it sound good by saving money then you sign up end up paying more on gas bill for cheap garabge filters & light bulbs. $300 to cancelle they should be banned, they are the biggest scammers and get away with it.
Big time scam. First summitt charged us without even confirmaiton on the contract. on my complaint to enbridge they returned my money and put the case to collection. we further took the case to ministry of consumer affairs and they are now consumer beware list at ministry's website.
Worst company ever, you are paying more after you signed the contract and called thousands times no one pick up the phone can't even cancel the contract. Don't ever sign with this company!!!!!!! I'm going to tell all my friends and my neighbors to avoid summit energy.
DO NOT SIGN UP they are out scamming the community. Taking advantage of the weak and slow. Wow ... I think it's time some lawyers get together an look into Summitt energy.
My house was broken into earlier this year so I got all these cameras put up, now i feel much safer! These guys came in and installed all these amazing cameras. Thank you!
The reason I gave them a five star is because of the excellent customer service I have received since I switched to summitt. I hate it when I was put on hold for more than 30 minutes to correct errors on my bill and it happened numbers of times with my old hydro company. I m glad that I can now reach customer care easily and the price is reasonable. What more can I ask for right??
I had no issues so far. For whatever minor questions that arise, the customer service reps are quick to answer and solve them. I am satisfied with the dual energy service so far, and I highly recommend Summitt Energy.
The worst company ever. Don't sign with those guys coming to your door behalf the Summit Energy. Just kick them asses way. They are a scam, thief, and layers. My bill went up double right way after I sign with them. From $150.00, $170 .00 aprox in 2 months I start to pay $290.00 to $320.00 in 2 months. Beside that you will have trouble to cancel it. The fee is $250.00 plus tax for cancelation. The government of Canada should take steps against that company.
I had an upgrade for my attic insualtion, and smart home. Company representative did an amazing job at bundling my current plan with the new plan. I would recommend this to my friends
A woman from Summit Energy came to my door, basically pushing her way into my home. I DID NOT invite her in, flashed me her little name card, briefly explained about hydro prices spiking and the fixed rate with summit and after pretty much pushing me through the sign up process she had to phone through the application and flat out said "I need your phone as I don't have any signal here" What an Fing joke this company is. Comin later at night trying to push their way into my home and saying if it's not a good time now I'll come back...don't Fing bother!!!
Responsive, very competent and absolutely lovely people to deal with. Eddie, the service technician is just terrific. Highly recommended. Thank you Summitt
SCAM ALERT! The guy came to my door this afternoon, I was half asleep and had a very cranky toddler in my arms... He gave me the impression that he was a representative of Enbridge. He asked to see my bill - fortunately all my bills are through my email and my internet wasn't working. He didn't tell me anything about monthly charges and made no mention of a contract. He kept going on about an energy savings tax incentive the government was offering and made it seem like I had to sign with them to get the savings. I even asked him if there were any charges and he said no and started talking about the government incentive program again. So I signed. Then he called the company so i could confirm that I signed, at which point, he told me to lie to the rep on the phone by saying he had left, while he was still standing in my doorway. As soon as the rep on the phone mentioned a 5 year contract... that's when I realized I was being duped and I immediately canceled the whole thing. I will be calling tomorrow to confirm the cancellation! I will also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection. This is NOT OK! Summit Home Services should be ashamed of themselves! DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING, DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION AND DO NOT ALLOW THEM INTO YOUR HOME!
My 16 year old sister was at the door to our home when these cockroaches rang the bell. The identified themselves to her as somebody "from the gas company". Asked her to sign a few papers since the home owner wasn't around. She said no, and they tried to push their way in to the house "to see a hydro bill". She immediately threatened to call the police and they left.
I picked up a plan that insulated my attic and gave me a pretty nest thermostat. No issues with installation and the sales guy was pretty decent. I'm hoping to see some energy savings and $$$ savings as a result... we'll see!
SCAM. That is all you need to know. They are slimey and aggressive. Do not waste your time, close door and be thankful of the minutes you saved talking to these shysters.
Worst company I have ever delt with. They have one guy working at customer service and keep telling me the supervisor/manager not here. Avoid this company at all cost!!!
A fraud. Be sure to report them. Few people report and they count on that. They knocked on door unsolicited, offered discounts, asked for bill then changed their tune and said they came to inspect. Glanced at furnace. Not an inspection. You can file a report at Enbridge and the anti fraud centre
Complete scam and terrible customer service... Ya sure you pay for a protected rate . Where they get you is global adjustment charge .10 cent on top of every kWh. This costs can vary and essentially brings your bill above what you where paying before. Here's how to break it down.
I have a nice flat low rate of 0.0695 cent per kWh + .10 (global adjustment charge) equaling 0.1705 per kWh. Peak usage billing is .175 per kWh. On average I pay .8 to .10 cents more per kWh. In short I m paying peak usage rates all the time! Having a locked in low rate means nothing with Summit Energy.
Just like any service you want to buy directly from the service provider. I want out of my contract however they have a ridiculous penalty! A company with some integrity would let someone out if they were truly where unhappy and hope that they would someday return. I ll never go back with these crooks and tell everyone to stay away. Buyer s remorse. Needless to say I found out afterwards they are NOT accredited with the BBB.
Don't trust anything they sell you, billings all wrong, missing installation and no follow up or call backs. call sale rep = call forward to voice mall with no returns.
