Been there twice. Loved every-time. There are lot of interesting historical things to know about inside Ellis museum. Easily takes 2-3 hours.

Truly breathtaking. You get to see THE STATUE OF LIBERTY! Worth every cent I spent. Such an amazing view from any angle. There s food and gift shops right on the monument. The boat stops to show a few things too. You get to take a lot of photos and they all turn out amazing from any angle. Highly recommend to visit, and visit with friends and family if possible. You get to see such amazing things and have fun.
The statue itself was a bit of an anti climax, but the visitor centre is great. They have a fascinating audio visual presentation on the construction and history of the statue which really is very well done.
I have been to the statue many of times. This was my first time leaving from the New Jersey side. It was great. Non stressfull.
One of the landmarks to see in NYC. Definitely worth the visit but do know this: This place gets BUSY. Go early, because so many people want to see Lady Liberty, and before you can even step foot on the island, there is a screening process, so I cannot over stress you to arrive early to beat the crowds, less people to screen. Once you get on board one of the boats, it maybe a rough ride, so if you are prone to motion sickness, take dramamine before hand. Enjoy yourself.
Took a guided tour and really enjoyed it. Highly recommend using a guide instead of trying to figure it out yourself. Awe inspiring and unbelievable experience. The work involved and the story makes you proud to live in the United States. All citizens should go.
Awesome place to go, was super could when we were this mid January, we loved it.
Spent three hours between the Statue and Ellis Island and we , a family of 4 with 1 teen and 1 adult child, had a great time. As a national park, they keep the grounds beautifully. The museum was refreshing and informative. They do have American food, snacks , water at NYC prices. Felt safe in the boat which passes every 20 minutes. From purchasing tickets to entering the boat it took us exactly 40 minutes including safety check. We arrived at 11 am and by 11:40 am we were boarding. Takes about 10 minutes to get to the Lady of Liberty. Please, only use the national Park water transport called Statue Tours and not private vendors which pass as 'legit but will scam you badly!
I wasn't feeling the freedom but the Statue of Liberty was interesting to see, that's why the 5 stars...
My lifelong dream.......the staff was very helpful.
You'll need to get tickets a month or more ahead of time if you want to enter the base or climb to the crown. Don't let that dissuade you from visiting. Your ticket includes an informative, self paced audio tour. There is a brand new museum opening in 2019.
Loved it. Definently a place to visit if you're in NY
Great landmark, just be sure to reserve crown tickets early as they book fast. Even without crown still a neat location. The new museum is must and very informational.
Absolutely loved it! You can't miss it! The voice guides they give you with the ferry ticket are definitely worth using!
It was marvelous! Super great and a one in a life time experience!
Nice view of new york, go early itherwise you will have to wait for at least an hour
Brilliant experience. A must for any traveler to USA
Very interesting & inspiring - beautiful ride over too, especially on a clear day.
Great experience! The ferry ride was the best. The only way to get good pics as well. The gift shop was cool
Simply awesome!!! (Visited 2nd week Oct 2019) A "must" place to go if you ever visit New York. A little chilly in October tho!
Take the good and leave the bad and there is mixed news here because while the renovation still looks fresh from 1986, the crowds have tripled and you'll go through security, airport style, twice before you get to even ascend to the pedestal, which you must reserve in advance if you plan to see.
Don't bother going to the crown because it's the same as it was in 1986 which is a claustrophobic circular staircase experience where someone's behind is in your face the whole way up. And the view from those weird-shaped tiny windows in her crown barely give a view of anything.
Naturally Lady Liberty is beautiful but the real treasure on this tour is Ellis Island and that's where you need to spend your time.
Amazing and beautiful one, it was great time for us, unforgettable.
It was an awesome experience visiting the statue of liberty.
Always love going to the liberty island. It's always amazing!!!
Great place to visit. Clean and quiet and it has a great view once you get to the island.
This is amazing and so full of history. The statue cruise boats begins at Battery Park in Manhattan or Liberty Park in Jersey City. You have to select this ahead of time when you purchase your tickets. First stop is Ellis Island and definitely recommend taking the 30-minute tour. The NPS Rangers are full of interesting information.
The only reason I rated 4 was because the lack of ADA assistance and compliance. Once you get to Ellis or Liberty Islands there are ADA compliant ramps and entry ways. Although, nothing for getting on and off the boats. There is also no assistance for those with disabilities.
ADA compliance at the Statue of Liberty is good up to the pedestal. (Just not getting in or out of thur boat) They also have a limited number of wheel chairs available at the information center. The staff was very courteous and helpful with helping us bring our Uncle to the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty. Would be nice to see more ADA improvements at the boat, waiting in the line and assistance with loading.
The Statue of Liberty is a must-see National Monument. On Liberty Island there are lots of spots to take pictures with the NYC skyline and to have a bite to eat with an amazing view. Visitors can climb to the top of the statue (provided you got the ticket that allows you to do so).
Make sure you buy a tour guide with priority que access. The waiting line is huge! I would not bother with Ellis island but that is just my opinion. The statue of liberty is definitely a work of art for which you appreciate more in person.
Very cool experience well worth the time and money .. Thanks to the team's and crew members for making a all around great time
" America's famous Historical landmark in New York -Statue of Liberty".
With the nearly half-a-million pictures already posted, we wanted to add something that was, hopefully, a unique and new view. This photo was taken with a GoPro and, before getting a warning from the park ranger, a hand out one of the crown s open windows! Please note the nice clear view of the tablet s cover.
Just an amazing feeling to see history up close. From the boat ride to the walk up the statue it was great. Glad we went when it was a little colder because it wasn't too crowded. Gave an opportunity to really enjoy the visit.
Great tourist attraction to see in the city of New York. It is located on an island, but that just makes it even better. When you come to New York via a cruise, one of the first sights you see is the Statue of Liberty. Admission to go inside the statue is not too pricy. However, the crowds kind of downsize the experience. Other than that, my visit here was pretty enjoyable.
14 Times in New York! Yes seen the Statue of Liberty from the harbor, but never visit, this time walking around on the piers, we jump on a ship, to get some air, a beer and see the statue up close. Nothing more to ad! 17,546 reviews on The Statue of Liberty, so plenty to read :)
Awesome..may your light be the path to freedom.. God bless your souls
One of those things in life you just have to do if you visit New York, it was interesting to go and see and read some of the info about the statue etc, I'd advise anyone who's going to invest in the fast pass as the queues are ridiculously long otherwise, we got through in about 15 mins which wasn't too bad. Snacks and drinks can be bought on the ferry and are fairly reasonable.
Awesome experience. I have been there many times and it always gives me the same feeling of liberty, pride in the human race and the good part of the United States.
Loved it but would not advise any one to go in peak winter.
Nice to this awesome gift from France with the naked eye just standing beneath it!!
It was an honor to meet such a BEAUTIFUL lady that holds an astronomical amount of meaning in her arms. The meaning of her I didn't truly grasp until I met her. I cried. The feeling is real .
Such a cool monument to go and see. I really enjoyed going to this monument. And to think that France gave it to us so long ago and it is still in good condition. This is a place that I highly recommend.
It's a must-see if you go to New York. But be ready to spend more than half of your day there. Long lines, suggestion: wear comfortable shoes. Plan your trip in advance, so you can get a ticket to go up to the crowd. Wonderful experience! I would definitely go back.
Like Lady Liberty, loved it when I saw her on a boat tour
The views are amazing. You can't have a better day out for the money. Amazing
A beautiful statue to look even closer. It was a memorable moment for me on capturing some good shots.
Amazing. You do have to pay extra to go into the statue. So we just walked in the freezing rain around her. But it was worth it.
Had a great time! 1st visit, took the boat tour $18. Stopped at Ellis Island & the Statue of Liberty. Very good attraction.
I have wanted to come here for years and it certainly lived up to my dreams. The Statue is beautiful and perfectly formed. The patina is truly spectacular.
A must see attraction in NYC representing the freedom and opportunity sought by the immigrants that helped build and form this country. I suggest making reservations for the crown before your trip because without it you'll just be walking around the grounds outside the statue on Liberty Island. All in all a fun trip regardless! Hope you enjoy!
Coming to this island is too special. Everything is beautiful. The view you have towards New York is beautiful too.
Great place, but unbearable amount of tourists... the main pain point are the ferry waiting lines to get to the island and then get back. On the way in consider purchasing tickets online that allow to skip a considerable amount of waiting both for the ferry and for the visit to the statue itself. If you plan to visit the crown of the statue make sure to book months (5/6) in advance.
The island itself is very nice with awesome views, and the little statue museum is also quite enjoyable.
Make sure to pack some water and snacks (or lunch) because options are limited and expensive.
On the way back keep an eye on the ferries arriving from Manhattan to try to get to the top of the waiting line without waiting too long.
Anyway done once but probably never again... :)
Overall a good experience - the ferry, walking around the island, going up the pedestal, inside the statue etc etc. The views from the pedestal are very good, make sure that you book well in advance.
We had the best time on the Hornblower dinner cruise out of NY. To be up close next to the Beautiful Lady, Statue of Liberty was amazing.
It was a really cold morning but the trip was well worth doing, the city pass meant we could go to both islands on the tour; liberty and Ellis, both were very good. Better to get there earlier I think as there is limited space on later boats.
We took the boat from Battery Island over to the Statue of Liberty and then to Ellis Island! It s a nice walk around the statue which took longer than I thought. Definitely a have to do when in NYC!
Beautiful day, and amazing cruise service to the Statue of Liberty. First time and I loved it so much. I enjoyed my first time on a boat and at the same time being at the Statue of Liberty it feel surreal. It s a MUST.
Museum at Ellis island was very interesting and well laid out and the lady herself is beautiful
This statue is one of the key elements, you think about, if you think about the United States. It was the first thing many immigrants in the past have seen, before they came to Ellis Island and may had to go home, if they aren't accepted.
This Statue represents the value of freedom and liberty more than anything else.
It's overwhelming when you stand in front of the statue and realize how big it is.
It's something you absolutely have to visit if you are visiting New York city.
Amazing. Just be careful with scammers outside of the subway exits. Tickets can be bought directly at the national park ticket station.
You have just got to do it.
Go find the Liberty Museum wall and Enjoy. The best bit of trip.
Incredible to see her up close and we learned so much on the audio tour
Stunning, Statue Cruises are fantastic. Reasonably priced and professional.
What an awesome visit! Very impressive in person. Liked the museum displays inside the pedestal. A must-do for any visit to NYC.
This is wonderful tourists attraction point which has several attractions inside this building itself. The people can reach up to its crown.
This being my third time around, I enjoyed it as much as the first. More construction being done to offer even more in the future.
Beautiful monument but we could not access the statue or pedestal.
Beautiful place, I'll come back.
Me encanta y regresare!
Loved this place. But be careful at ferry stop. Lot of fake people trying to get cash just by saying you arrived late and tickets got cancelled don't believe them
A great place to visit. The Audioguide on the island is a must. There is a lot of information to be taken in, and the guide really helps you to know more a bout the history and the symbolism this statue represents as well as many interesting details. Depending on the time of year the weather can be harsh, but the experience is beautiful nonetheless.
Very cool it was freezing when we went the museum is pretty amazing get to see the different designs and prototypes they went through before completing the statue and how it was moved and built also get to see molds and replicas of 1:1 size of the statue
Great fun with my 10yrs old. Watch a kid learn true US history at liberty island and Ellis island.
Best way to see the statue is on one of the big sailboats that will take people on a tour of the harbor including The Statue of Liberty. Best time to take a sailboat is from early spring till late fall. Hour long ride and not that expensive.
This is the best place I have been to in my NYC trip. It's on the liberty island which is accessible by ferry from battery park. There is a security check just like airport hence please make sure not to carry any food item apart from water bottle. You can purchase ticket before visiting island . There are two types of tickets 1.pedestal view 2 . crown view
You can purchase crown view ticket which provides amazing views of the city through statue's crown. However it involves climbing a lot of stairs inside.
There is a new museum started on the back side of statue. This museum is awesome
Any trip to New York should include a trip to see the Statue of Liberty. For those on a budget, the Staten Island ferry is free, although it doesn't stop at the statue so you will only be able to see it in passing. Otherwise those wishing to have the chance to visit Liberty Island and learn more about the statue can go to Battery Park and follow the signs along the path which will take you to the ticket stall inside of the historic Castle Clinton courtyard. One of the cheapest ways to reach Battery Park is by the subway, which the green line #4 or #5 will take you directly to it. Note that there is a security checkpoint and all visitors planning to go to the statue will be screened so be sure to check online and leave behind any prohibited items. Alternatively visitors can take the same ferry tour from New Jersey. There are various tickets with different prices and which will allow visitors different levels of access to the statue itself. Note: Some tickets such as those with crown access need to be ordered online, months in advance.
The ferry from Manhattan makes its first stop at Liberty Island where you can stay for however long you choose. Ferries arrive at the island every 20 minutes. On Liberty Island there is a gift shop and a small cafe where you can get a bite to eat, although it's cheaper to simply eat beforehand and just pack a few bottles of water in a backpack, otherwise food and drinks (with the exception of water) is not permitted on the island. For the best photos on the ferry ride, be sure to sit on the side nearest the dock when leaving Manhattan (the right side) and the side furthest from the dock (the left side) when leaving the statue, if you want to be able to see the statue from the water. Most people make the mistake of boarding and immediately rushing to the side nearest the statue while still at the dock in Manhattan, however this will only allow you to view it clearly while at the dock, after which there will be several people in the the way as the ferry approaches the statue.
After boarding a ferry to leave Liberty Island you will then be taken to Ellis Island where you can walk around and tour a museum. Visitors can stay for as long as they like, with ferries scheduled to arrive every 20 minutes, although some will arrive sooner. In total, plan to spend a minimum of 2 hours with a basic ground level statue ticket if you plan to disembark and walk around both Liberty and Ellis Island for a quick visit and brief glance at the museum. Both stops are included in the same ticket and both sites have park service guides who can provide visitors with additional historical information.
The Statue of Liberty National Monument is a great day attraction when visiting NY. First you get to go on a ferry ride, then you have the whole island to explore. Depending on the season you go ( Better in the summer) you can enjoy the green areas and have a nice picnic. The monument itself is pretty cool even though I thought it was going to be much larger since it looks so large on tv and movies, however it is quite large and it gets its high from the large base it sits on. Inside the statue is pretty cool and if you get the opportunity to go up to the crown that's ever cooler, but few people get this opportunity. Over all there is a lot to see in and under , and around the statute.
It's nice to go on the island and view the statue up close rather than just buying the boat tour. You get beautiful views of New York from there. However, if you want to go up on the actual statues pedestal you have to book tickets about a month in advance.
It was a wonderful experience for me to visit this place with my husband. Lots of fun moments there
I went first ferry over. Crowd was minimum and it was easy to take photos both from ferry and on the island. There are clean bathrooms. The gift shop and the food cafe gave respite from the heat. Construction did not tarnish the view. I did not go inside Lady Liberty.
Got a VIP tour and went up to the pedestal. Amazing views and enjoyed walking 360 deg around. A lot has changed since 9/11 so be prepared for long lines and plenty of security checks. Well worth it to see such a spectacular national monument.
A beautiful view of Lady Liberty. Be sure you get tickets in advance to visit the base of the statue and to go up the crow.
A great view of Ellis Island, the Hudson River and New York City skyline.
You can access boats to it from the New Jersey side and Battery Park.
They give Senior Citizens discounts for tickets to Liberty Island, the base and crown of Lady Liberty. Be sure to get tickets in advance from their website. You are also then able to visit Ellis Island and the Museum there.
