We had a wonderful experience at the Statue of Liberty. I went online months before going to NYC and purchased crown tickets. We arrived round 8:15 on the morning of our visit at Castle Clinton at Battery Park and picked up our crown wristbands at Will Call. We then went to the security line. It was very long but moved extremely fast. We then had to wait to get on the ferry and were able to get on the second one. Total wait to board and leave was about 20m or so. Getting off of the boat at Liberty Island was easy and fast. We went immediately to the pedestal and went through additional security. At this point we had to rent a locker to store our backpack as they are not allowed into the pedestal or crown. It was $2.00 and was easy. We then went into the pedestal and took an elevator up to the main viewing area (stairs are an option). Finally we waited about 10m and were allowed to start walking the stairs up to the crown. The walk up took about 15m and we stayed in the crown for about 5m or so. Rangers were up there to give us history about the statue and to answer questions. This is such a neat and unique trip and I would recommend for anybody who is able to walk up stairs and is okay with small (not tiny) spaces.
