There was sufficient parking close to the venue. The security did a great job checking people for drugs and/or weapons. The music sounded great and it was a very enjoyable experience. They had a nice beer selection and a few bars to order from. The bathrooms were clean and had a few stalls. I will certainly return!

Went to see Dorothy with my girfriend and another couple and we did not have a good experience. We had general admission tix and the floor was so crowded that it was nearly impossible to get to the bar or the even the bathroom. It seemed like the show was probably oversold.

Detroit's Best intimate venue for the Biggest Acts around plus local bands and tributes the upstairs balcony is great way to see the stage & now with Live Nation claiming it as theirs we're getting some really great renovations, keeps getting better! Have alot more pics but here's a few

I LOVE this venue. Saw Elbow here and Guy Garvey said the wrap around balcony up top felt like "a hug". Adorable. Small enough to feel intimate, big enough to really pack in a nice sized crowd. Unfortunately I heard that if they oversell tickets they bump it up to the Filmore or something like that so be aware.

I went there for the Residente concert... first the sounds was awful, all you could hear was the drums and nothing else.... then they had some dj playing as an opener which was not announced... then when we finally get to see Residente, he is only allowed on stage for an hour and 20 minutes... they cut his microphone in an attempt to get him to finish the concert, and they wouldnt allow him to give his fans one more song....

I got really sick there and the staff was amazing, they got me water and orange juice and keeper checking up on me,they sat me down in the lounge area. It's rare to find people this nice these days, would decently recommend to everyone.

Went to a show in the first week of April. Online it said their coat check was seasonal from October 1 - April 1. It was pouring rain that day, and much to my surprise the coat check was available. That would have been really helpful information. With a sold out show, and wet people smashed in like sardines, the venue quickly began to smell like a foot. The AC wasn't turned on until after the opening act, and that helped with the humidity and smell.

The layout of this venue is really bad. The room is longer than it is wide, meaning less space in front of the stage and more rows of bodies. They have their bars along the long sides of the room, which means with a full house it's almost impossible to maneuver to them without people yelling at you for trying to cut in front of them.

The saving grace for this venue is the balcony. There is an upcharge to go up there if you have general admission tickets, but it is a world of a difference. There's a private bar with lounge-type seating in a separate room, then two staggered rows of chairs for viewing the show in a horseshoe shape around the stage. Even the worst seats up there are pretty good. There are also private bathrooms, but the women's only had 2 stalls (and very little moving space).

Overall, this is definitely not my favorite venue, but if a great artist came here I would probably suck it up and get seats upstairs.

First time at St Andrews and won t be the last. Amazing sound and building. Was in the balcony with your semi-own private bar and bathroom. Great experience and can t wait to go back.

All the parking attendants nearby are scammers. Tell you one price then another. Don't let them get the best of you. However the venue itself is amazing although 20 to sit upstairs is a bit ridiculous

One of the best venues in Detroit. More intimate than the big arenas and bigger/more professional than the smaller Detroit venues. They also redid the bathrooms and The Shelter downstairs is a landmark known worldwide ever since 8 Mile movie came out.

An old church that has been converted into a small concert venue. The sound is very good because the place is so small and intimate. The main floor has a full bar in the rear, and standing room only for the shows. There are seats up in the balcony that wraps around 3 sides of the room.

The band and acoustics were a 5 star.. st Andrew's a 2 star. Almost $30 to stand for 3 hrs. 1/2 hr in line to get in 1/2hr wait, 2 hr show. No seating (a few upstairs for a lot more money.) Overcrowded main floor with no seats. 2 people near me spilled their drinks, one on my pants and shoes. Too many people talking loud, holding their phone up to take pictures and video . Lots of pushing and shoving. Hard to see the stage. Very scary that the city of Detroit allows such a large number of people in a small cramped room. No food. Parking $10 to $15.. not bad considering most places in Detroit charge $20 to $40.

Small (which is a good thing)and crowded (which is a bad thing) this venue was still great to see a band in. The main floor looked like a horribly crowded place to try to see a band from, get a drink, or maneuver out of to go to the bathroom. That said I had opted to pay an extra 20 dollars to get access to the second floor.

I'm not a big fan of the extra charge but it was more than worth it. You get your own bartender up there that was never swamped. Bathrooms with much shorter lines. There also isn't a bad view possible from the second floor. Great time and great option for if you want an easier experience.

Everyone was very cool and respectful. Had a great time at the Steve Earl show. Shout to Antonio who offered me his hand to make sure I got down the stairs to the outside safely! He was not the only one either. A nice worker did the same for me at the end of the show but I didn't get her name. Thank you all who work at St. Andrews for all that you do. I hope to be back.

This may have more to do with the band performing than the location itself, but I had 0 problems with getting in (that I didn't cause myself) and they booked my absolute favorite, so it was totally worth the distance and time to get there. The price was phenomenal, too!

This venue was perfect. If you want a relatively close view of your band or act you are seeing all while having a good drink or two? This is the place for you. I was able to see one of my favorite bands here and the experience was worth the time and money to go. 100% will see shows here again. Plus the staff was super awesome as well.

Was there for One Ok Rock, that would be normally 5 rating automatically, just wish for standing room there was at least maybe two or more levels or sloped floor like some other venues I have been to. The stage was lower so if you were middle or back of audience and average height pretty hard to see over peeps. Sound quality was good and staff I did interact with were very nice and professional

Was here the other weekend for a show, St. Andrews is a great venue in terms of size and acoustics. I have seen many shows here over the years. I have heard of people having their cars broken into when parking for a concert, I would recommend taking a cab, being dropped off, or even parking in a watch / gated lot, or a parking garage and walking. It's not in that bad of an area, positioned right next door to Jacoby's and Sweetwater Tavern.

The venue itself if 4 stars, it's the below that makes it 3 stars.

By far the biggest complaint would be the bar / drink service. The short bar only usually has 1 bartender, who literally moves down the line and starts over again like some sort of human typewriter. The big bar, which is about double the size, only has 2 bartenders working, who like the 1st bartender function as a human typewriter, going slowly down the line to the middle and then starting all over again. It can take FOREVER to get any drink; water, pop, beer, liquor. You name it, you are at the mercy of this slow understaffed system.

Great

I purchased tickets online to attend the Grits and Biscuits event at this venue on Oct. 21 and was not allowed entry because the Fire Marshall mandated that the building was at capacity as they oversold the show. I was told by the working manager that we would definately be able to get a refund by contacting Ticketmaster if I purchased tickets online. In attempting to contact Ticketmaster to receive a refund I was told that no one from the venue filed a report for this incident and therefore could not process a refund to me. When you attempt to call the venue you are just left with the frustrating task of trying to navigate their automated directory which leads to many non-working extensions--Absolutely ridiculous. Think very hard before attending this venue as you run the risk of paying for a show that has been oversold and being given the run around when trying to get your refund. I had friends who traveled in order to attend this show with me and even though we purchased tickets we were not able to attend the event.

Came all the way from Houston to see Missio in the motor city and we were not disappointed. Great venue and high energy show. Don't believe the fear mongers about Detroit. Whether 2 in the afternoon or 2 in the morning we never felt any concern for safety.

Parking was alright, overall space wise was unimpressed. Had lines waiting for concert out in the rain! Like a maze inside to get where we needed
When I got my ticket the ticket stated there was seating. Stand up general admission except balcony.

This was our first time at St. Andrews Hall. We went there to watch "The Devil Makes Three" (bluegrass band). We ended up having to leave very early into the concert. They severely oversold the event and the venue was so packed that I had people literally pressed into me on all sides to where I could barely move. I've never been to a concert so packed with people. On top of it, the venue intentionally hid the actual start time of the concert so that they could pack people in and sell a lot of drinks well before the event actually started. We ended up waiting for two hours after the advertised start time on the ticket, and this resulted in almost everyone in the venue getting completely wasted by the time the artist was ready to play. So imagine being crammed into a small space like sardines and mixing that up with all of the sardines being drunk and high. This might be fun if you're somebody that is treating this place as their local bar, but it's not fun for people that are actual fans of the band and were excited to see them play. It's really too bad because I bought these tickets for my wife as a Christmas present and the evening ended up being pretty bad. I wish that we had waited unit the band played in Cincinnati the next month so that we wouldn't have had to deal with all of the drunks.
