I was treated very courteously and even though I was a walk-in the wait time was short. The staff member that assisted me gave me some really good advice and was super helpful in correcting an error. Thank you!!

They website had most information. But I hated when I called and it said nobody was available call back later and hung up. Its impossible to get a hold of them.
I brought in all the proper paper work for a direct deposit check change for my mother who could not make it there. And a month later still no direct deposit has been made to her banking account. Who dropped the ball?
I initially went to the downtown location. WRONG CHOICE! I had already waited 1 hour and still had 13 ahead of me. So, I chose this location. AMAZING CHOICE! I got there about 8:50 a.m., and left by 9:20. It is a lot calmer office and they called numbers on faster and more regular intervals. Went to window C, and were treated very well. Great work!
I don't understand how there could be so many reviews saying the wait time was minimal, or even reasonable. That was certainly not my experience.
In my first attempt to speak with someone I waited for over 30 minutes before overhearing someone else talk about her wait time of nearly two hours. I couldn't wait any longer and left. I tried again the next day, arriving 09:03 AM and was surprised and disappointed to see the waiting area already nearly full with line of about 10 people in front of the Check-in computers. I waited a full hour before getting my number called to see someone. Since all I had to do was give them a check and receive a receipt it took all of 5 minutes. For which I had to wait over an hour. :o(
So beware that you need an ID for a NEWBORN. And the birth certificate does not count. I sent an application through the mail and they sent it back with a denial and didn't say why it was denied. I go to this office and that's when the guy asked for my infant's ID. He tells me I need a medical record. So I ask what it needs, like does it need his DOB, a doctor signature, etc. And this guy just says "I don't see why it's so hard just to get a medical record". I am beyond fed up with this place and the process. PLEASE PRINT EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING I NEED TO BRING IN WITH ME BECAUSE I AM SICK OF DRIVING ALL OVER TOWN FOR THIS. I have read the list of acceptable documents, there needs to be something added saying you can use a medical record and what it requires. Also, your employees need to work on their attitude.
I phone the South Jordan office to find out about a new s s card. They were very helpful and gave great directions and other information. It is too bad that he didn't mention that they closed at noon! We go there at 12:30 and the guard came out to let us know they were closed. A wasted trip.
Yes, social security administration computers have a lot of glitches, so they say! But I feel very differently about the so many glitches they have. I wouldn't say all there employees are ignorant, but they do have a small few that I have met with,. That small few, turned out to be the dirtiest most ignorant people you will ever meet.
I talked to the case worker for my disabled daughter's case over the phone on Tuesday, he tells me come in tomorrow at 1:30pm. I show up and the office is closed but I caught a worker outside smoking and she would tell him I was there. 20 minutes later, he came out and told me he had said tomorrow. I replied back I couldn't do that, my disabled daughter was getting her cast off that afternoon. He said he had no other open spots, so I said alright next week then and left. Another man was there as I was talking and he was pissed off that the website says the office is open until 4pm and he drove off yelling "I pay taxes! That's the government for you". I don't look forward to actually having my appointment now. :/
Everyone with less than 5 star reviews pretty much called which is pointless, they can't help you over the phone or they had to wait to long. Cry babies. personally had a great experience. Takes alot of patience to be an employee at this building from the people ive seen.
A little wait but when I met with the employee he was extremely helpful, checking on another matter. Would that all government employees were as helpful!
I went to the SLC SSA office earlier this week but there was some sort of incident and the police were there. I decided I might like to go to a smaller office. I arrived at the South Jordan office fifteen minutes before they opened and was about sixth in line. The security guard was kind enough to let us all inside out of the hot sun. I signed in and was helped within five minutes. The woman helping me was nice but also efficient and knowledgeable. Very satisfying experience with a government agency:)
I went right at 9am when they opened. About 30 other people had the same idea (which wasn t too bad. It could ve been a lot more people). I waited 50 minutes until they saw me, turned in documents for a name change on my SS card and it only took about 5 minutes (it helped that I came with my marriage license and the SS card change form already filled out ). So I was in and out in less than an hour, not counting drive time. Also the lady who helped me was SUPER nice and friendly. EDIT: 12/3/19 got my replacement card and they didn't change my middle name. Still happy with how quick everything went and I received the card sooner than the 2 week prediction they gave me, but now I will have to go back to fix the mistake and take more time off work...changing 5 stars to 4.
This is ridiculous! When you call a government agency, and they try to force a "survey" on you, Is this another run around or are we being forced to listen to commercials from our government? After completing the survey you are instructed to call another number. Why does this have to be such a circus? What a waste of my time! And taxpayers money!
My Social Security retirement benefits were suspended because the Social Security Administration doesn t have a sufficient character limit for my address. Really. I have received numerous letters & notifications from SSA even though Dr. (Drive) was eliminated from the address. In fact, the notice that I was suspended came to me addressed that way. I called the 800 number & was on hold for over an hour. The representative said it would be fixed & my retirement restored. So did the second representative. And the third. The fourth, Kathy, told me that if I wanted the character limit to be addressed I needed to contact Congress. Apparently, this issue is of such magnitude that Senator Mike Lee, Senator Mitt Romney, and Representative John Curtis need to personally intervene. Ok then. She also said that I needed to appear in person at the South Jordan office to prove my identity as someone in that office had flagged it in such a way that that was the only option. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor eventually called the office and, presumably, my benefits will be restored, however my next payment shows as 0.00, which is considerably less than a lifetime of good faith payments dictates. The supervisor called South Jordan again. Presumably, if the date of payment passes with no deposit, I am to call the South Jordan office and they will (uh huh) put through a critical payment which will take up to five days to process. So to recap, this entire fiasco, spending in excess of four hours on the phone with SSA representatives (8 phone calls so far), having my benefits suspended WITH an in-person, identity verification caveat, is because of an inadequate address character limit (and a complete breakdown in the ability of 800 representatives to adequately comprehend and correct the problem). It s almost funny. Almost.
The GUARD there was kind and helped get through the process easily by providing the documents that I needed and I was called up in 5 minutes when I was there at 3:30 pm. They handled it quickly. I was satisfied.
Really really poor services people not friendly at all and really rude. I called to ask about the Social Security Card for my parents waiting in the line very longer time and when the representative answered the phone no greeting or anything. She doesn't answer the right question and even hang up the phone. Rude and poor service.
terrible office.we had questions to ask and wanted to schedule an appointment and the lady on the phone was very rude and said they don't schedule appointments that we needed to just come by and hope they have time to see us. Also, there was a mistake on our SSI made by an employee we have been trying to get it fixed for months. We talk to someone they say they will fix it and it never gets fixed. SSI is supposed to help families get back on their feet but instead they make life worse for needy families. I am in nursing school, my husband is getting is masters and We have a child with special needs. We just need help for the time being, but they don't want to help us because my husband has a job that pays barely anything. The worst part is that no one wants to fix the problems.
Wait time was 45 minutes. Not bad. A week to get my new card. Not bad. THE WRONG FREAKING NAME ON MY CARD?! REALLY?! I don't trust this place for a second chance at changing my legal name, as stated on the application and court documents. #wasteoftimeandgas
It was a great experience going here. The guard was very kind and friendly. The staff who facilitated my application was very accomodating and explained everything well. I just don't remember his name well, maybe it was Aaron or Eric. Anyway, it was very pleasant overall.
So I came in last week about my benefits. I was never notified I needed to submit any documentation. In fact when I came in and specially asked about submiting that specific document. I was notified I no longer needed to. Received a letter in the mail. Stating due to not submitting the previous specified document. My benefits would not be paid this month until I submitted the said document. This morning I came in to get the 6 question document. Fill it out, submit the documents. I came in. Asked the security guard what options I picked. Since only one some what matched my personal agenda..... He advised me to pick a option and I guess jumped me to the front of the line. (I didn't know it would. I was just happy it was fast). Got called to window D. This young woman treated me HORRIBLY. I kept attempting to explain it was an honest mistake. I had asked for help, and she continues to interrupt me while scolding me. Her voice was so loud the waiting room turned around to see who was shouting, and why...... This was the most embarrassing experience I've ever been threw! I understand everyone has bad days, but this was completely overboard......... If I could give no starts I would
I applied for retirement benefits online. That went well. But, the next day, I decided I wanted to change one of my choices and could not make the change online. And I had some questions. So, I went into the SSA Office in South Jordan not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Had to wait about 20 minutes and then they answered all my questions and gave me the name and phone number of a person I could call direct (in Pennsylvania, I think) and get the change made. That person requested the change and then called me back when it was completed. I wish I had gotten peoples' names so I could commend them. I could not hope for better treatment.
What's the biggest lie in the English language? "I'm from the government. I'm here to help you." I'd waited 45 minutes on hold and when it was "my turn" they couldn't help me over the phone so I made an appointment to meet with them. I researched my issue on my own and figured it out. Out of courtesy I called back to cancel the appointment. Another 45 minutes on hold. They wanted proof of identity before they would cancel the appointment. I should have just no showed the appointment. I can honestly say I feel dumber having had them "help" me. So grateful I only retire once.
I am impressed! I had planned for a 2-hr wait here, for my SSC service, but I was out o door in 15 min. Arrived at 8:55 am, checked in and waited for less than 10 min before my number was called. The staff was friendly and efficient.
I just had one of the most delightful and helpful interactions I have ever had with a government employee. When we came with a new work authorization card and asked for a social security card, we met with David at the South Jordan office. He processed the application and said we could return tomorrow for the number if we needed it for an employer. He had us laughing and responding to his appropriate humor. As we left I asked him why he was so kind to us and he replied that it is his job. Thank you, David for turning what could have been a stressful situation into the best thing that happened to us that day.
This office was must faster then the salt lake location. The security officer was very friendly and the lady who assisted me in my name change was very quick, happy and funny . .
I walked into the office and the security guard immediately started explaining the procedure to me. I appreciate him explaining in detail. Highlighting the sections I needed to know so I can get my son's Soc sec card. He pointed me in the right direction!!! I am waiting for my # To be called a I got here at 930 am and its is now 946... and there are. I'm u only 4 numbers left to be called before
If you expect the wait time at any government agency to be less than 30 minutes, then you have unreasonable expectations.
I was there a little past open time and there was already about 20 people ahead of me; however, my wait time was about 15-20 minutes probably because of the type of service I needed. The woman that helped me was super nice, friendly and professional.
Make sure you fill out an application for whatever business you may be doing there before your number gets called...just fill it out even if you think you may not need one. Bring a pen because there is only one at the application desk.
Some dude waiting to be serviced let me borrow his pen, he walked out of the office to go use the restroom and did not realize there are restrooms at the facility...FYI...
Upon arriving my wife and I were promptly assisted by the wonderful Mr. Caddy, a security guard at the front desk. It's not every day you meet someone so full of life, he really made the rest of our day. We were in and out with the same last name in about 25 minutes, but seriously, please make sure you keep Mr. W. Caddy at the front desk.
I don't have a problem with this office but SSA in general. It is a bureaucratic nightmare applying for SSDI, We are forced to pay into the system yet have to wait years to get a hearing. People with missing limbs are denied yet someone who has a hangnail is given full benefits. It's frustrating....
Seriously amazing humans work here. They answer fast, they know what they're doing. And the one time someone didn't, they didn't hesitate to get help from a supervisor and did so very professionally
Very judgmental about my son pete he disabled and still tried to work he reported everything then 5months later some lady called asking him how much he was making and it was 44bucks a weak then she said he made to much u believe that That is A MIzzily 176a month they just seem to WANNA make it worse for the disabled
I have come to expect and know that the Government is pretty bad at organization, systems, process, and overall ability to maximize and run any business - AND, this office and system takes that cake as absolutely terrible. To me, I do not mind having to jump through a few hoops and abide by the "rules" of a particular organization, but when the organization fails to make you aware of the requirements and makes you wait ov er 2 hours to speak with anyone... well, that is less than 1-Star in my book. I first went to their website, thinking that I could get info or maybe an appointment or a way to expedite getting the Social Security Card for my new child. There was no way to get through the website, and the data that was there had nothing to do with my need; which I am pretty sure I am not the only parent who has ever needed to get the social security card off new baby. Then, the phone call was EVEN WORSE. After dealing with the automated system for 10+ minutes they finally say that they will connect me to an operator, with a wait time of 55 minutes. 1 hour and 20 minutes later I finally speak to a person, but they are not helpful because they are the national office and not able to help - so they direct me to the local office. Once at the local office and a 2 hour wait, I have my Driver's License, Passport, Birth Certificate, and Social Security Card, but I only have a Birth Certificate for my child - which, what else COULD I have??? Well, they do not accept a birth certificate, and let me know that I need a certified letter from a Doctor signifying that my child is alive and a person. Unbelievable. All that, and still nothing.... YUCK
I Was there today and of course I had an appointment at 130 I thought it was pretty fast if you do have an appointment..not many seats for all the ppl that do come in that office.
This place is slow and inefficient. It s run by the government so what do you expect? Well I can tell you what to expect. You will be here for 2 hours waiting to see someone!
I adopted a child and needed a new ss card for him, after waiting for over an hour I gave them all the pertinent information and she proceeds to tell me her computer had a glitch and she would put the info in later. I called back after a month to find out where the ss card was and they said they destroyed it. They then told me they would send for another, and once again I call back after a couple weeks to be told they have no information in their system for a new card. What does one do now? Oh I know, start over because our time means squat.
My experience with this office was excellent! The representative, Brian, was very helpful, knowledgeable, and courteous. Thank you for a job well done!
My boyfriend has gone in there at least 10 times to resolve an issue and they always lose his papers. It's ridiculous that he has to keep going in there over a mistake that they made over not filing the correct paperwork. He has been dealing with this issue for a couple of years and they keep telling him that he is right and they will fix the mistake but he never hears back from them and they have only let him speak to a manager once in all of the times he has gone in there. I think they like to try to take advantage of people who have disabilities. Maybe it is time to get The Office of Civil Rights involved for discriminating against a Deaf individual.
I think this office was incredibly fast and to the point! I really enjoyed my visit and will always make this location the office I go to for now on. I thought Will Caddy the security guard up front was so nice, kind and extremely helpful! This office is lucky to have him as their guard! I highly recommend going to this office they are great, thanks Will!!!
I just spoke to Shawn at this office as a last ditch effort to get my Mother's Death Underpayment for a payment the bank sent back after she died, but she was entitled to. Shawn was a breath of fresh air and was extremely helpful. Though it has been a year since we originally contacted the Provo fiield office and we are virtually unable to get a human to answer the phone there, I have faith that Shawn is going to make this happen for us. He offered a follow-up plan and was just extremely upbeat at what sounds to be a pretty difficult job. I appreciate Shawn's professionalism and great attitude and I hope that we see this money in the very near future. Thanks Shawn for your excellent service.
What a joke. The place looked like a welfare office, and we waited here longer, than I have waited at some motor vehicle registries!!! Also they need more locations for this growing area.
I just hung up the phone with the Social Security Office main number and realized I forgot to ask a question. Since the hold time was very long, I decided to call my local branch instead. I had no hold time and spoke with a friendly and knowledgeable man who gave me the answer I needed quickly and did not give me the "it is how it is so deal with it" attitude you so often get from government employees.
I still need to go to the office in person to finish my task, but I now feel like it will be a pleasant experience rather than a dreaded one.
I spoke to a guy trying to help a lady get some questions for her medicare and he HUNG UP ON ME! I waited for 50 minutes. 50 MINUTES! I'm now bound and determined to help this individual lose their job! What a Jerk!
Usually very helpful and knowledgeable. I called in with a simple question, today, and the guy s accent was so thick that I couldn t understand a word he said in his completely unfriendly tone. Was actually afraid that the phones had somehow been hacked by Indian scammers.
The people that work here hate their jobs, lives and family. They are SOOO RUDE AND SLOW. A quadriplegic could get something done faster than these people. Never talked to such a negative staff anywhere in my life. Even McDonald's workers ask how your day is!
There is not much parking available, but it is free.
The wait times are often 1-2 hours
Most of the time the office does not even have enough seats for the people waiting (a lot of whom are disabled and older). If you get a seat they are tightly squeezed together so you are touching shoulders with people next to you.
The workers are rude and yell over the loud speaker to fill out applications. Also it depends on what office worker you get as they are inconsistent with required documentation.
Went into Social Security office today to get help with Medicare stuff. Got there around noon. Wait was only 10 minutes. Assigned to Mrs. Webber. Very professional, friendly, but most of all very helpful! Good job SSA!
People are extremely rude and disrespectful super long wait times, they hang up on you or fail to answer the phone and just all around unprofessional 0/10.
I was on hold with them for almost 15 minutes, then got disconnected. So I call back and am on hold for 20 minutes, at which time I get a recorded message saying that they're "sorry" that all the operators are busy and to try again later. Seriously?
Thanks, government. Can I have ALL of my taxes back?
Came here to get my daughter social security card which got lost couple months ago and the reckless cited my car giving me ticket for nothing I can t imagine this place is worse than worsting one star is enough for you guys you don t consider customer!
I had to wait FOREVER to get thru to someone on the phone. I guess I just need to remember that social security is with the federal government and remember they don't do anything very fast!!!!
I got there at 9:07am and left by 10am I thought it would take longer but thankfully it didn't. They called the numbers fairly quickly and the woman who attended me was extremely nice. Got what I needed and was out the door.
I get really upset when I setup a call back and you people call me from another state when I called from a local number. Also your automated system keeps thinking someone spoke when there wasnt any sound, and I cant call the callback number back, I'm not gonna sit and wait for ANOTHER HOUR! FIX YOUR EQUIPMENT!!! dont call me from Texas when I called Utah, cause too many scams these days, I dont answer out of state numbers cause of scams, too many. I had a call back and the thing just automatically did whatever it did and hung up on me I cannot get through to somebody with the Callback. This is BS and somebody needs to fix their system
I've been waiting almost 2 months for just an easy letter that if you guys were open it would have taken no longer than 3 minutes!. I'm extremely disappointed in the way the Social Security Resident Service Agents treat people like me!! I hope the office agents will notice my situation and lead me out of this! As a student, it's really hard for me to get to school without private transportation. Thank you
