Bought my first pair of skiis and boots here today...

Bought my first pair of skiis and boots here today and so happy I did. Christian was so awesome and knowledgable, seasoned skiier and you could tell he loves what he does. I have been blowing off buying my own skiis just out of fear of spending money on something that I won't like or grow out of. But Christain walked me through it and made sure my boots were perfect and listened to all my concerns and took the time to think through the problems I was having with different fits. There was a different gentlemen fitting me for my helmet who was also awesome and friendly. If they're busy, take the time to wait, it's worth it. Also, looking online, the prices are on point, but you get that expert fitting you perfectly. Can't wait to ski this season with my own equipment!

I bought my skis here mid season last year and had a great experience. The salesman helped me a ton and got me exactly what I wanted. The service was quick getting she bindings on and everything. Since I bought them there, I get 4 free machine waxes a year and well as 20% off of other services on them. I took them in a week ago to get a wax and clean up the edges and when I picked them up today they looked worse than when I brought them in. The tops are all dirty and have some sort of sticky film on them and there are two large gouges in the edges that definitely weren t there when I brought them in. To top it off, they tried to make me spend the whole amount before I had to remind them I bought my skis there. Then they gave me $3 off of a $40 service. Not sure what kind of math they are doing but that doesn t add up to 20% off. I would rather pay someone to wax these in the future instead of getting a free wax at this place. Less than impressed.

Sales guy spent close to an hour with me, finding the right ski boots, adjusting the fit, and had me stand and walk around to see how the fit changed over time. We tried a half dozen boots and ultimately added 5 different inserts to get the boot just right. It was such a better experience than I've ever had buying boots before. Fantastic.

Found what I was looking for. But I had to find it, no one was available to talk to me.
I was also very interested in one of the Kona gravel bikes or one of the Specialized AWOL but even though two clerks saw me looking at them they were too busy I guess and did not stop to ask if they could help. Very disappointed by their attitude. I don't know if they were just too busy or if it was my Marine Corps tee shirt that made then just walk by me and not even acknowledge me. I will assume that they were too busy for now. However, they did miss out on the sale of a 2,000 bicycle.

Bought a bike here and asked for it to be set up tubeless. Bike was great until I got two small punctures (one front, one rear) and the sealant didn t plug the small punctures. When I removed the tire to put in tubes I saw that there was only enough sealant to seal the air into the tire. I am disappointed and won t be returning any time soon.

Took my bike in for a ANNUAL PRO MTB SERVICE got it back and felt like nothing was done. The derailleur still did not shift right, brakes were still spongy and whole bike was squeaking, I am sure they did not check any of the bearings. Also just before I sent my bike there I had my friend go check out there bikes. he bought one and a mile in on first ride the peddle fell off and completely shredded the threads, there fix was to glue on a sleeve. They used to be have a good bike shop, but there quality has gone way down.

Update too one star after took my bike to another shop and come to fine out bike was squeaking because my bearings were in need of service and derailleur hanger was bent causing my jumpy shifts. But not why down graded to one star also told my shock is in need of service. So not even sure did that. Or did a check of everything.

Sports systems has been one of the most helpful places that I have found as a new snowboarder. The staff is very helpful and has in depth expertise in their departments. One of the most helpful staff members that I've had a very pleasant experience with is Blake from the rental department. He is always willing to help and any questions you have about snowboarding and skiing he can give you the answer to. He is one of the staff members that brings me coming back to sports systems.

Purchased a new snowboard set up last year. Lots of personal attention and knowledge from the Sport System staff with picking a great set-up for the conditions I ride most.

My wife was ready for her first pair of skis / boots / bindings this season. Even though a very busy Saturday for early season shoppers, the staff was SUPER helpful. She was custom fit for new boots within an hour and was able to select from several great options on bindings and skis to suit her skill level. The ski shop was done a couple of days earlier than promised with mounting bindings and a fresh wax. Could not have been a better experience.

My review is based mainly off the running shoe department but I plan to come back because of the great experience! The store is large and has areas devoted to several different sports and I plan to come back to check those out.

The gentleman who helped me pick out new running shoes was knowledgeable, patient, and attentive. He spent time with me and did a thorough foot analysis, discussed my shoe preferences, running style, and recent running injuries. He was genuinely interested in assisting me and gave me some excellent tips. Price was standard but there was a promotion with my purchase so that was nice. I will be back!

Ski rental service is very bad. There was only one person working despite a large line, and the service was extremely slow. We waited for ~20 minutes (the line hadn't moved at all) before I decided to ask if they'd let me use my own boots instead of the crappy rentals, and they said no. We left to go to Sports Systems, a much better option.

Hank and all the employees were amazing. Of course, we waited until Christmas Eve to go in and was treated as if we were the only people there. Hank also gave up a pair of rental skis that he was saving for himself for us to use, very selfless. Thanks so much for operating such a great business in Albuquerque.

I forgot to get the female's name who was great. I like the selection for bindings and boots. I am a little thrifty and the clothes can be hit or miss on prices.

As soon as Megan Jackson started assisting me in selecting new ski boots I sensed I was in good hands. I was there with a friend who was also buying ski boots. After a few minutes of overhearing Megan advising me, my friend, who is a podiatrist said to me, she really knows her stuff.

Megan cheerfully and patiently worked with me for well over an hour and ultimately got me in the perfect boot for my physiology and skiing ability. I don t remember dealing with any sales associate that was as knowledgeable and professional as Megan.

Fantastic staff. Scott in the ski department really knows his stuff and was a huge help. Why buy online when you get the same price locally, but with a knowledgeable staff and your money stays in the community.

Megan in the ski shop is hands down the best boot fitter in Albuquerque. So helpful and friendly, endlessly knowledgeable and always goes the extra ten miles to find you the perfect boot - even someone with crazy, challenging feet like myself. Love her!

The ski shop at Sport Systems does not install alpine touring (AT) bindings. I waited a week until the due date to call them to check the status only to have them tell me that they do not install AT bindings and that I would have to either go to REI (month+ wait time, which is why I brought them to Sport Systems in the first place) or go to Santa Fe. This was frustrating as I could have taken my skis someplace else initially if I had known they do not do AT bindings but no one at the store told me this, nor did they call at any point to tell me this during that week. I'm giving a 1 star not because they do not install AT bindings, but because no one called me to inform me of the situation.

I will be hesitant to go to Sport Systems again in the future.

In a resent visit I found the staff to be very knowledgeable. Megan, one of their associates has great knowlege of skis bindings and is a master boot fitter. She has used many of the items she discussed. The management has done a great job selecting and training staff. Will defenitdef shop there again. They provide prompt service. A well run store .

Walked into SS with my son for the first time this...

Walked into SS with my son for the first time this past weekend. We were immediately met by Jerry with a warm welcome. I informed him it was our first visit and that we were looking for bindings for my boy's snowboard. He gave me a brief tour of the facility on our way to the snow board department. He handed me off to Dillon who did a tremendous job of finding exactly what we were looking for. I felt the price was more than fair considering the support we received from the staff.

When I got home I realized that we did not have all of the hardware, necessary to install the bindings, in the box. I was more frustrated with my self than anything, for not checking this in the store. I called to let them know what had happened. They were extremely apologetic and asked that I bring in the board and bindings when we returned. My wife went in and was completely taken care of. In addition to getting the hardware, SS installed the bindings and waxed the board for free, to make up for the additional trip we had to take to the store.

Very impressed with the knowledge and support of their staff, even more impressed with the way they responded to the mistake that they made.

Over the years I've had the worst experience with getting boots to fit me well. Last year my mother-in-law introduced me to Sports Systems, and my horrible ski equipment past was finally turned around for the better! These folks KNOW their stuff! Their knowledge & skill set continues to amaze me. Just this week they helped me with getting my new ski boots to fit just right. They take their time with you and really do everything to help you walk away happy & satisfied. They are the only ski shop I go to in Albuquerque. Shout out to Rick...he not only knows boots well, but also is skilled at working with/on them.

Very helpful over the phone in fulfilling my order, my only disappointment was their shipping and customer service. I asked for a Saturday delivery which said they could do, but didn't happen. I received my package on Monday, I called them to inform them of the delivery. They instructed me to take it up with USPS, I informed them that they would have to make the contact since they imitated the shipping. They insisted in me making the contact and as stated the USPS informed me that I could not do anything since I had not initiated the shipping. I sent Sport Systems an email over a month ago and it has gone ignored.

I went looking for a new saddle for my road bike, and received excellent advice and service from team member, Will. He gave good recommendations, measured me for the best fit, and installed the saddle on my bike for me even. He went out of his way to clean the top of the seatpost too to insure a proper install. I appreciate this level of service very much. For local purchase of bike parts and accessories, I will be returning to Sport Systems for sure. Ask for Will with help with your bike!

Ok to buy ski equipment however it would be best to do your research on your own and know what you would like to get before going. Would not recommend browsing. Tends to be overpriced even with sale and when purchasing several sales personnel were extremely vague about the return policy. After making a fuss, I finally got an answer. 30 day return policy with receipt if equipment is unused and no custom adjustment were made (ex mounting bindings or heat molding ski boots).

After buying equipment and having some issues with the ski boot fitting properly, I returned for adjustments as my right calf/foot was becoming numb on downhill. I attributed this to pressure of the downhill incline on my larger right calf and initially staff there agreed. However after trying to heat mold and seeing how I moved in the boot, I was then told I have the wrong boots as I could not "flex" the boot properly. This was a bit upsetting as I had been recommended these boots by another staff member at sports systems. When asking what this meant, the person I was working with recommended a heel lift. We shall see how this works out however I did not leave feeling confidence in the adjustments made.

At close of sale they checked on line to find the lowest price for the boots I was getting and credited me the difference through ski shop services. So I got my son's seasonal rentals, lifetime boot fitting service and a discount on some new poles for free... sweet!!

I have been in the market for a new full suspension bike for awhile. Meaning I m ready to drop a significant amount of money on the right bike. Unfortunate for me, I decided to look at the beginning of the pandemic, like a lot of people. I went to Sport Systems wanting to look at inventory and was eager to buy. I had found a bike I liked and that was a good fit for me, however couldn t get a sales person to even say hi or offer their assistance. The store was busy so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and attributed the terrible customer service to that. I waited a few months and went back hoping for a better experience. Again, I couldn t get a single sales person to assist me. Mind you, at this time, my wife and I were the only customers in the bike section. With about 5 employees just sitting around. Both times I had asked different salesmen for assistance. The first time, each salesman said he would be back with me then proceed to help male customers. The second time, when it was just my wife and I, I couldn t even get someone to help me. I have never experienced such terrible customer service.

Alex talked with both of us at length, teaching us some good info on boot fitting and the newest features and listening to both of our needs. The Beat the Internet app is a great concept, my daughter was excited to score a cool free lid protector and we were both happy to tell Mom about the free gear. Ski shops in Santa Fe have gone downhill in recent years and we're happy to have a venue in ABQ where we know that excellent service and good value is waiting. I had a great experience at sports systems Christmas Eve. I had got a gifts certificate to get new ski boots. Right away I was greeted by a master shoe fitter named Megan. She was so friendly and helpful. She took the better part of three hours taking her time to make sure I had the best boot to fit my feet. She made sure that I was absolutely happy before I left. Megan is definitely the reason why I will be back for any future purchases.

My child started snowboarding this year which ment it was time for me to pick up the skis again (20 years since I skied last). Sports systems is where I go for my biking equipment so naturally it headed there for my ski rental, Blake was the gentleman that helped me, I am not your usual skier in that I am 6 ft tall and 295 pounds and have froto feet (as wide as they are long), Blake took the time to measure me and found a boot that worked well, he did warn me that at my size I needed a lot stronger boot with at least a 120 rating, but since I told him I would spend my time on the beginner slopes it should be fine. Well my kid ended up going down a black mogul area and I followed, do yourself a favor if you need ski stuff go see Blake and take his advise, I made the run but the kid was right I need 120, when I returned my rental stuff Blake took the time to fully explain what I needed and why and even recommended a few good ones to try and we are quickly zeroing in on the right boot, he also told me I should buy a set of used salomon QST92 skis that had just come in, they had not even made it to the rack yet, he said they would be a perfect match for my skiing style and a great all mountain ski, so I bought them, I have skied icey conditions at sipapu, powder up at the tram and today mixed powder and evening crud, blues, blacks, moguls and I truly love these skis. I will definitely keep going back to sports systems for my skiing needs, with people like Blake behind the counter you can't go wrong.

Pretty disappointed in our visit today. We ve gone to Sports Systems for years and have never experienced the treatment we received today. Brought our mtbs in for service. The guy outside who was supposedly there to help hardly listened to my concerns. He took my bike from me, worked on it for 5 minutes and returned it to me and told me he couldn t find anything wrong with the hard gear... I had clarified that the hard gear wasn t the issue I was having.. I reiterated that it was the easy gear. He shrugged his shoulders and told me to go ride around in the parking lot to see if he fixed it and wouldn t even give me the time to show him what was happening... luckily another member started helping my husband who was having a problem with his shifter. He actually LISTENED and offered solutions and explained how he could fix it. Then the other not so nice employee yelled at him from the back and told him stop making promises to them. The helpful employee whispered under his breath in frustration and then told us he couldn t help us. We ve been to Sports systems many times, never had problems. I guess we ve been lucky because we ve never had to deal with that rude employee. We loaded our bikes and took them straight to High Desert Bicycle and they helped us right away. Fixed both of our mtbs and respectfully listened to us.

Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff, certainly in the bike shop at least. Welcoming, not pushy or elitist, either. We were shopping for a new mountain bike for my wife, and the staff spent the time to find the right bike, at a good price.

Got new boots for myself (Technica Mach 1) and boots and skis for the wife (Nordica Speedmachine and K2 First Luv). Megan fitted my wife and William helped me with my boots. Great service and attitude from both of them and everyone else in the store (Patty spent close to 2 hours helping me with helmets and goggles; there was another young lady who helped me with helmets - will update review when remember her name). All boot fit customization included in the price together with the several hours I took trying different boot brands and stiffness. It's great to have ski/snowboard specialist like this in town. Whatever your level of skiing and understanding of ski equipment, you will be better off with this store and their service than no-service internet shop.

Turns out I work the exact hours that the store is open so I was unable to return them when I needed to. We are inevitable always getting something from Sport Systems. The employees are more like family! Pat & Likhaya help us with running apparel and shoes, Zack, Morgan, Derrick, and Stephen help us with Road and Mountain Bikes...David gets the bike fit just right. Even the GM, Jerry Shere, helped us find just the right Ski Boots...for our trip to Wolf Creek last month. The owner of Sport Systems, Duane Kinsley, is always at the store, he's approachable whether your just saying hi or you need to address a concern. Knowing this was a possibility, Billy made sure I was making the right decision and his expertise/knowledge helped me choose the right boot for advanced skiing and performance, as well as the flexibility for hiking! Easily one of the best retail experience I have ever encountered.

The service was rendered on a bike purchased from another retail outlet.
It made no difference in their approach or service outcome.
Take your bike here. I will now frequent this outlet for my future purchases because of Nate and Will.

the front curb is very accessible to essentially any car you'd be driving in this region of the USA. so, great first impression. the staff was initially very nice, but that quickly changed when I asked a kind fellow for help. He was EXTRA nice, and super helpful with my search for a bike. so, second impression was even better. there was even a nice sale! Went there twice this weekend to get parts for a couple of old mountain bikes me and a friend were working on. The customer service was absolutely amazing, and very professional. Even with this COVID19 stuff going on, I feel like they were handling it very well. And with how busy they were at the time, the employees were still able to help us out and answer any questions we had. Definitely recommending this place! Probably will even buy my next specialized bike there in the future.

I have been a customer of SS for nearly 3 years. ...

I have been a customer of SS for nearly 3 years. The staff is especially knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. I have never experienced the "pushy salesman" experience as some of the previous reviews have stated and I have been in the store nearly twice per month servicing my mountain bike, buying parts, clothing, etc. over the past 3 years.
I most recently brought my bike in after completing the Leadville MTB race to have the front Crossmax hub serviced only to find out I was out of warranty by 3-4 weeks. SS was able not only to fix the hub but also went to battle with Mavic for me and was able to get the work to be done under warranty saving me nearly $100. This is a true service oriented LBS. I will never buy a bike from any other LBS in town and plan on purchasing a new bike in the next 6 months from Sport Systems.

I made the mistake of buying a mountain bike from Walmart and building it myself. I was impatient and did not want to wait a week for the guy build it but did not want to spend $700 on a bike shop bike. The bike was about $250.00 + tax and seemed to be what I needed for some family riding. I immediately regret my decision and decided to bring the bike to Sports Systems to be upgraded. New handlebars, stem, brake adjustments, tire set up and gear set up, ect. I got a phone call saying my bike was complete and when I asked if its riding good, the bike technician said as "good as I could get this bike riding"? I picked it up and everyone seemed to care very little that I was going to pay $$$ for this work to be done. They were not very personable in the bike shop. (Different experience than when I dropped it off) They did not even go over what they did, just clipped off old bars and handed me an invoice. After dropping almost as much as the original purchase price for the upgrades, I wanted to test it out. I did take the bike out for about 9 miles last night and with some minor adjustments to the seat and shock, the bike did ok. I get that it is not the best quality bike and definitely learned my lesson. If I upgrade or buy a new bike, I will get something better quality but don't think they should treat the customers negatively because its not a bike from Sports Systems. I have not bought a bike in 10 years, I am not a enthusiast. I just needed a bike to ride with my 9 year old son and hated the factory bars this Walmart bike came with.. I will be buying a better quality bike but probably just not from here. I will update after a month or so, give an update on the bike.

I took my bike for gear shifting problems. I got the call around the time they said it would be done (~3 weeks nowadays). Went to pick the bike the next day. Didn t get a chance to talk to the person whoever serviced the bike. Paid for the service (~$64) and took it out for test ride. First time I tried switching the front gear, the chain came off (one of the problems I told them to look at). Took it back, one of the service guys apologized and took it back in the shop. Brought the bike back in 10 mins or so. Tested again and this time worked fine. I will take the bike for a long ride tomorrow. I wish someone explained what was done and if there were any future suggestions.

Horrible customer service! Called ahead of time asking if they could wax snowboard and if I needed to make an appointment, they said if I paid an extra 20% they could do a rush, I asked if they were sure because I live in Rio Rancho, they said no problem. I came in and drive across town and when I got there they said not possible. I explained my conversation over the phone and they said don't know you you talked to but that's wrong.
