I was visiting stillwater today and stopped in. I was greeted immediately by the owner (I think) he was very helpful and friendly. I needed a helmet and he helped me find just what I've been looking for. The place did NOT smell like cat pee and the fluffy Kitty on the counter was sweet and let me give her lovins. The nice man also suggested some mountain bike trails in the area when I told him I was from out of town. I had a great experience! =)

I have been going to Cooper s since the 80 s when I was a child. Copper s has never steered me wrong. I have been dealing with Mary the owner for years. Yes she is very dry when talking to her but I also know that that s just the way she is. I also know that if she is telling me I am getting the wrong bike. I am getting the wrong bike. The whole Copper s family are cyclist, from bicycle to motor cycle. There years of bike knowledge is amazing. I do 90% of my own bike work but when I do have to go to Cooper s normally for disc brake problems they always fix it right the first time I have never had to go back. Yes, the place smells like cats. Always has. I think that s what's great about the old local shop. Not a lot of corporate bull selling you whatever they can to make a buck. There are other stores in town. Myself I have never visited them. I have no need to Cooper s has always done me right.

From the looks of it they have everything and bikes to spare!
Were very courteous and helpful in a tuneup and estimating when my chain would need service. Did not get the pleasure of smelling the 'cat aroma' that the other reviews mentioned.

I really wish I could do a negative rating. I went there to get my bottom bracket fixed on my BMX bike. They claimed to have replaced the bottom bracket which didn't fix the problem and recommended i buy a $150 part for my bike and they charged me $26 for the "repair". So I decided to get a second opinion from District Bikes. They said it was the bottom bracket and fixed it for me within a day and only charged me $15. The bottom bracket did not have anything done to it, the bearings were shot and the bracket was snapped so Coopers definitely did not do anything to it. They also denied me any sort of compensation and tried to tell me i didn't know what the hell I was talking about when I brought it up with them. Other than that, the place is disgusting with the smell of cat urine and feces.

I recommend going to District bikes instead. They have outstanding service, knowledgeable employees, and good prices.

The store's products are great. Wide selection, decent prices, and lots of mid- to high-end bikes to choose from. The woman who I presume is one of the owners is less than pleasant, however. I've gone to Cooper's twice, both times with a very specific product in mind, and both times the owner was very condescending and tried to convince me what I wanted was wrong, and proceeded to talk to me as if I didn't know a thing about bikes. I'm by no means the most knowledgeable when it comes to bikes and bike tools/parts/etc., but on my previous (and what will be my final) visit, she spent ten minutes repeating that a certain tool wouldn't be compatible with my bike (it was) and finally gave up when she said she could "see in my eyes that I'm not getting it." I asked if she would take my money and she went into the back while I waited for another employee to ring me up. Perhaps I've just caught her on bad days, but add that to the somewhat haphazardly organized layout and the cats that roam the shop and I don't foresee myself returning in the future.

Not the most modern of stores, and they do have lots of cats, but if you want a solid bike, and people who know "bikes" and can actually fix your bike, this is where you want to go. Have purchased many bikes for many kids and a host parts for this and that, over 25+ years. Every single dollar I have spent at Coopers has been well spent.

Just bought a giant momentum ineed street from them and I love it! The service here is great! Cooper's bicycle is very friendly! You can tell these people really love bicycles and they want to share that love with others! This is your classic mom and pops shop without being behind the times in all the modern biking technologies.

The communication was bad when I left my bike with them to get the shifting problem fixed. When I left there was cat poop on the floor. They replaced my axle when I did not ask for that. They said it was bent but it was working fine before so I don't know why they did that but they did without asking me. Less than a week later the axle bent going over a curb (this is a mountain bike) so I took it to them and was patronized by the older lady who's always there. Needless to say, you will never see me in that place again. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else where there isn't cat poop on the floor.

Came at open. Owner was helpful in suggesting things to purchase. HOWEVER i came in for a break installation with the part. Took 5 minutes to repair and charged me 20$. Also i was trying to tell the tech i wanted a full work over, because my bike was poorly assembled and asked how much it would be, he started to answer and the owner scowled at him and replied "the price would be higher then that" i feel like this is bad practice. 16 dollars to tighten two screws to align and run a brake cable. Should've listened to my father and googled it. Will not be back.

Shame on you

Good folks. Great bikes. This shop has a lot of personality. There's usually a couple of cats running around begging for attention. The product selection is great, from bikes to parts. I've purchased 3 bikes from them and have felt well taken care of on every purchase. Awesome shop.

Do not go here!! Went in with a friend to get some pedals because he'd forgotten his, and the smell of cat urine was so strong it was burning our lungs... Even though we held our breathes and left as quickly as politely possible, our chests and lungs were still hurting for hours afterwards...

And Cooper's is my second favorite-bicycle-shop in Oklahoma. I have not dealt with them since 2006, but will be stopping by soon for a few adjustments to my 10 year old bicycle.

(My two favorite bicycle shops are listed in my reviews as 'first' and 'second' favorite, but this only indicates the order of review creation -not the order of my favoritism. Both shops are great. I've just been living closer to one or the other...)

Cooper's is awesome, and I look forward to visiting them again.

They have been in business for years and now it is time for them to quit. I went into the store to buy a new bicycle for my son and the experience was horrible. The overwhelming smell of Cat urine about made me throw up before I could get out of the store and get my breath.
The guy that I talked to talked to me like I was an idiot and TOLD what I wanted not the other way around. "Don't know if I have it, don't know when I can get it and on and on.
I know I wont go back anymore. I will drive to the city before I patronize these people.

We've been customers since 1973. Always a positive fair experience. Prices are as cheap as online and labor prices are extremely fair. Recent tune up on my bike was only $26. Now bike is as good as new. Highly recommend.
