Shout out to Jenna R! She helped me with a lot of information on boots and boarding overall. She was great! Excellent customer service all around!!
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff, a full service bike shop and more. Also hosts the annual Bike ABQ Bike Swap in April.
The staff has been super friendly every time I walked in. I once had an issue with the service I got and I talked to the owner and he made it more than right. I think local bike shops are competing with online stores so they have to show the customers that customer service is priority and based on that experience I would recommend this shop.
Ross was great! Today we stopped in and purchased two bikes. Best sales experience I've had. He was very knowledgable, not pushy at all and his advice was best interest of our needs. He did not push what was more expensive etc. Stop in and ask for him.
I loved my experience coming here. The moment I walked in there was amazing costumer service, this man named Alex was so helpful. Since I am younger most people assume I don t want to buy anything or they give me bad costumer service but not Alex, he talked to me with respect and explained everything in great detail. He worked with me for hours too, explaining everything, helping me try on different boots, helping me pick the most affordable skis and explaining the difference in each. He even helped me find the best prices in his store, he didn t give up on me which I appreciate because I couldn t have done it by myself. A blonde young woman named Amber also was super helpful, she helped me pick the best helmet and within my price range and didn t give up on me until I found the perfect one, and even helped me assemble helmet with headphones when I got it. Just an over all amazing experience I highly recommend! Great costumer service!!
Amazing service. I went in looking for a commuter bike and Will found me to a perfect bike for what I needed. I left happy and satisfied. I will definitely return. Can't express how happy I was when I left.
Went here to rent my boy a snowboard. Staff went out of their way to ensure he had a great time and was encouraged to keep snowboarding. Really a great experience.
I hated this place, the customer service was nonexistent! I will not be going back.
My child started snowboarding this year which ment it was time for me to pick up the skis again (20 years since I skied last). Sports systems is where I go for my biking equipment so naturally it headed there for my ski rental, Blake was the gentleman that helped me, I am not your usual skier in that I am 6 ft tall and 295 pounds and have froto feet (as wide as they are long), Blake took the time to measure me and found a boot that worked well, he did warn me that at my size I needed a lot stronger boot with at least a 120 rating, but since I told him I would spend my time on the beginner slopes it should be fine. Well my kid ended up going down a black mogul area and I followed, do yourself a favor if you need ski stuff go see Blake and take his advise, I made the run but the kid was right I need 120, when I returned my rental stuff Blake took the time to fully explain what I needed and why and even recommended a few good ones to try and we are quickly zeroing in on the right boot, he also told me I should buy a set of used salomon QST92 skis that had just come in, they had not even made it to the rack yet, he said they would be a perfect match for my skiing style and a great all mountain ski, so I bought them, I have skied icey conditions at sipapu, powder up at the tram and today mixed powder and evening crud, blues, blacks, moguls and I truly love these skis. I will definitely keep going back to sports systems for my skiing needs, with people like Blake behind the counter you can't go wrong.
I'm rating the experience I just had, not store as a whole. I know internet competition is killing retail stores and I like to shop local, but Sports Systems has signs posted throughout store that they will match internet pricing down to $1. I just tried to match pricing and they started offering me all kinds of stuff to compensate for the price difference but would not match the price. By the end of the sale, I felt like I had been hit in the stomach after all the haggling. Please either honor your signs or take them down so that customers can have a positive shopping experience.
I moved to Albuquerque in January of 12 and immediately began looking for a local bike shop with great service and a knowledgeable staff (similar to the one I had back in Florida). I have since purchased two bikes, a Specialized Epic and Stumpjumper, and various parts and services from them. I have always found them to be very helpful and reasonable with any issue or question I have had about my bikes, whether it was the ones I purchased from them or others I have.
I will never walk into the doors of this business again. I got the feeling the bike shop staff was following me around to make sure I would not steal something, instead of seeing if I needed any help.
Always helpful, knowledgeable, courteous.
Brian, Derek, H.T. Darwin, David the Beard, William, Zack, Jimmy Fallon, Nate in skis, Scott, Ted, Sierra the triathlete. And the ones whose names I can't remember.
Rob was our boot fitter today. We have been trying boots all around the state and Colorado and he was the most knowledgeable, helpful, and not pushy boot fitters we have experienced. We will return here solely based off our experience with him! Thanks again!
Great staff. I have rented ski equipment and have always had good experience. Billy was very helpful and knowledgeable to help me purchase ski boots.
Bike shop review - excellent service, knowledgeable staff, had what I needed, and they gave me lots of good advice. Ross at the bike shop showed me what to get to tune up my tubeless tires (I'm new to tubeless) and told me how to add the sealant. He also looked over my bike (for free) and said that I'll need to get the front tire dished but could do that later on when the shop is less busy and it won't hurt my bike to ride on it now. He also adjusted the cable tension and added some lube to the chain... all for free! Ross was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. I'll definitely be coming back for all my bike needs. Thanks, Ross!
Bought my first pair of skiis and boots here today and so happy I did. Christian was so awesome and knowledgable, seasoned skiier and you could tell he loves what he does. I have been blowing off buying my own skiis just out of fear of spending money on something that I won't like or grow out of. But Christain walked me through it and made sure my boots were perfect and listened to all my concerns and took the time to think through the problems I was having with different fits. There was a different gentlemen fitting me for my helmet who was also awesome and friendly. If they're busy, take the time to wait, it's worth it. Also, looking online, the prices are on point, but you get that expert fitting you perfectly. Can't wait to ski this season with my own equipment!
The staff was fiendly and helpful. I rented a snowboard and cross country skis.
Jose was very helpful and friendly in the bike shop!
I purchased a new bike here in 2011, when I was healing up from a knee injury and needed a bike to keep in shape until I could get back to running. In the 8 years since, these superb people have been consistently superb in their genuine kindness and eagerness to be of excellent service.
They still do my adjustments, they ve done countless work on all my kid s bikes, and I ve purchased two new bikes from them for my girlfriend. (Bike number one I purchased for her was stolen, one of the few drawbacks of living in Burque).
It s a fantastic store, with a fantastic crew of employees. Friendliness is in their bones, and although the store is large with a great selection of every sporting good you can think of, it has the feeling of a small local shop. I m grateful they are there, and wouldn t consider going anywhere else.
Facundo helped us on the 19th and he was extremely helpful, polite and knowledgeable. My son and I were very impressed!
Regina and jackson.
I bought a new back country ski and boot setup from NM Sport Systems over a year ago. This season I started having some issues with the fit of my boots. Jenna Rhoads told me to take them back in and Nate might be able to help me. After 15 minutes, Nate had the problem solved. Online purchasing doesn t offer this type of customer service. Thank you Jenna, Mary and Nate for taking care of me. -Melissa
Josh (in the snowboard department) is the man! He was super helpful and friendly. He went above and beyond with fixing my broken BOA. I couldn t have gotten better service. SS will always be my first choice for winter sports stuff!
Really good place to find everything from skiing stuff to mountain biking.
Had a great experience getting fitted for ski boots. The entire staff was extremely helpful and hard working. Megan was exceptionally knowledgeable about proper boot fit, and took the time to make sure everything was just right. If you're looking for professional boot fitting in the Albuquerque area, look no further.
We had a little problem with a ski jacket. They took care of us like they always have. They are my first stop for ski and bike sales. We always like buying local and they deserve the business.
Absolutely the best place in New Mexico to purchase gear for snow sports! Kayla and Jose were a huge help with my new snowboarding gear. First ride on the new board was like carving butter. I love my Rossignol Frenemy 150!
Great service in shoes, fast help, got the right shoe!
I have been buying/renting all my outdoor gears @ Sport Systems for the past 3 years and that includes bikes, running shoes, snowboards, energy bars etc.. Their staff is extremely helpful and thanks to their great selection of products I do not have the need to go anywhere else. They are also great supporters of community events such as bikes races, running races and Triathlons, which gives me an extra reason to spend those extra dollars.
i pops purchased a "ibis mojo" bicycle from there he was like a kid at a candy store n im very glad that hes happy....
Fast, friendly service. Knowledgeable staff. Got my ski boot liners heat molded in a jiffy.
Cashiers are very polite, helpful, and attentive. We are and will continue to shop Sports Systems. Thank you very much.
We have been going to Sports Systems for our family s ski equipment for years, and I highly recommend the ski shop. Just today, Brad did an amazing job outfitting my son super fast because I was very short on time.
I visit Sports Systems for cycling. They are ALWAYS extremely helpful and offer a variety of products. I recently was in the shop to purchase a Father's Day gift and wasn't sure what to buy. I was trying to replace a reflector for my dad's Specialized. I ended up purchasing a great light as well as the replacement reflector. The quality and value of the product was definitely worth it and I got a lot of great information from the staff about the product and what it meant to my dad's safety. I am glad I was able to work with one of the service people to get some advise about what to buy that would be a valuable tool for my dad because he rides a lot at night and early morning. I love shopping here because the team is extremely knowledgeable and obviously care about the work they do. I was able to get lots of information and choose from a variety of lights and really understand the differences between them. The shop is always clean, there is someone who is patient with me to help and they can provide service and products for any level of cyclist. Plus, I also always love helping a local business!
My wife and I went in to look at purchasing some ski equipment after renting our gear for the last few years. Megan was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and spent time with both of us trying on boots and explaining the different types of skis. Needless to say, we walked out of there with new ski gear and were both so excited at the purchase we made. If you need a boot fit, definitely ask for Megan!
This is my favorite sporting goods store. Great service and excellent selection. Their bike services are awesome.
I needed a box to ship some skies. They were very nice and even held it forna few days until I could come in. I appreciate the staff especially Justin who demonstrated a willingness to help. The store is beautiful.
Sports Systems is great-- best ski shop in the southwest. Mike and Rob in the ski dept are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful! I went in for some replacement ski boot toe and heel pieces and they really took the time to get me what I needed. I highly recommend them!!
One-stop source for all my human-powered sports gear. Sport Systems arguably has the best bike repair shop in Albuquerque. But...
More importantly, they are hosting and running the Hand Up economic boost program in which I can, and did, buy a slew of $10 gift cards to Burque restaurants who ve been devastated by the COVID restrictions.
Who would have expected Civic Leadership from a Sports Equipment store? They love Albuquerque. They assist Albuquerque.
They ARE Albuquerque.
Well done, and thank you for your action.
Our family greatly appreciates the folks at Sports Systems. Here are two examples why. #1 - The shoe department employees are patient and helpful. They work to understand your needs and help you find a solution. We have a family member with special needs who loves to walk. The shoe experts watched her gait, looked at her feet, listened to our preferences, and have helped us find the correct shoe every time we purchase a new pair for walking - about every 4 - 6 months. #2 - Even though I do not fit the stereotype appearance of an athlete, I got good advice and assistance when shopping for items to support a new athletic attempt. They will take you seriously whether you are seasoned at your sport or trying something new. We highly recommend Sports Systems.
This address and phone number are for the old SS location. They are now located on Montgomery Blvd. The phone number above will connect to the new location.
Each and every time these guys go above and beyond to be professional, courteous, and diligent in fixing my bikes. The best bike mechanics in the city.
By far the best selection in town and probably the state. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. It is fun to check out all of the new gear and see what you want. Sports Systems is the only place I go
Went to test a.bike....they could not install peddles. Waited fo 35 minutes....for peddles???
shopping for my wife's birthday the other day was a joy. patty M. who seems to be the top floor guru on all things top floor immediately saw my blank face as to what to buy my wife. i asked her for a little help and she put together a workout ensemble that my wife loved. i thought the "Spyder" line was unique and fun and i told Patty what she put together was perfect. Sports system has been my choice for so many things. i love the KUHL line they have and they always have helpful bike folks that are eager to see your needs met. you guys do a great job and i really love the fact that your locally owned and you have good prices and great service. keep it up.

Great associates lots of variety. Amazing customer service
I love Sport Systems! The products they have for multiple sports are amazing. Nice, knowledgeable employees who do not dish out attitude. I got the perfect (for me) skis and boots here plus base layer Merino lower body underwear on a Great Sale on Icebreaker. I am new to Albuquerque and so wish I had known that Sport Systems sold Specialized E MTBs so I could have purchased one here rather than at another Specialized shop in ABQ.
Any high end repairs on your bike don't take here. Unskilled in high end service period!!
I rented skis for the season from here last year. It was pleasant, easy, and affordable. This year it was still a great price but a miserable experience. This store handled social distancing so poorly by having people wait in line inside the store instead of outside. They did not space out the area where people were trying on boots and waiting in line for skis. The employee helping me with my boots was so rude and passive aggressive. Since there is no other store in town to do a season rental from, I feel like they just don t care because they know they will get business anyway. This is only my second winter skiing so I didn t want to invest in purchasing equipment just yet. But after this experience I will be buying equipment... and it won t be from here.
We rent snowbaording gear from here every year. It's the best deal we've found and the damage waiver for a tiny extra fee is beyond worth it. The staff is always helpful and friendly. We asked about purchasing a board and Sammy answered all of our questions in depth with some great suggestions. If you need to rent or buy gear, this is the place!
One of my favorite specialty shops. Friendly and expert staff make it easy to find exactly what you need for your upcoming adventures. Local gems like this are hard to find nowadays and their beat the internet program makes buying local a no brainer!
I received great service here on several occasions.
The place to go for select outdoor sports in Albuquerque without going to REI. Well suited for snowboarding/ski, MTB, cycling, and associated clothing/accessories. Can find killer deals on waterproof clothing and out of season gear.
not having a particularly great experience this winter shopping for new boots in the ski dept i decided to give the store another go:
while recently attending sport systems "bike fest" i was expecting a bit more then a 10% discount on bike accesories, especially considering someone can get everything in the store for half the price anywhere off the internet. the customer service was subpar, partially due to the fact that the demeaning gentleman helping me with the mountain bikes was the self proclaimed "best mountain rider in the state" and the store as a whole is extremely crammed and disorganized. not much of a "fest".
when i first moved to NM almost 2 years ago, i did get a bike fit with the fit tech, and he was very attentive and professional; i have not had my knee issue since the fit. and although my family did have a positive experience with the ski rentals we just will not be returning to this store. i am all for supporting local business, and sport systems does carry quality products, but if you are going to mark everything up twice as high as internet competitors and offer poor quality customer service i just can not justify the support.
Fantastic staff - Dave, Darwin and the gang all super helpful and extraordinarily knowledgeable - just purchased my 3rd bicycle from these guys.
Sweet store. Very focused on winter sports as opposed to broader stores like REI. Skis weren t ready when I was told and impacted a recent ski trip. Would still check it out.
Great tune up on my Devinci, riding sweet!
Brought my bike in for a flat tire repair, fixed quickly. Staff all helpful. Thanks for being open until 7pm!
I moved here in August and had to leave my bike back east. The folks in the bike department were patient with me while they customized my new bike and helped me get set up here. I also bought my new Oboz hiking boots here and will buy the running shoes I need as well. So thank you to the bicycle department and the person who helped me with the hiking boots.
I've been a customer at Sports Systems for a little over 5 years now and I've always been well taken care of. Time and time again the staff proves that they aren't just going through the motions and doing their job--they seriously want to help you. Today, I was helped out by William in the Bike department. He not only fixed up my ride in a matter of minutes, he also gave me great information regarding the bikes value which I would've never known without him. Sports systems may not look like a local bike/ski shop because it's so big, but it sure feels like one.
I purchased ski boots with excellent assistance from Megan. The ski area was very busy, but she (and Luke) managed the crowd very impressively. Megan's expertise was very apparent, and she patiently answered my questions and helped me get a great pair of boots. She also stayed twenty minutes past closing time to fully fit my boots!
Good selection for snow and summer pursuits. Friendly helpful staff.
The owners of the place are always rude some of the employees are nice. most of the time they're on a power trip in the rental area. I will not go to a place that enforces face coverings. That's sharia law. There's a lot of other businesses that will gladly take business from constitutional abiding citizens.
Always a very helpful staff! Kudos to the ski shop for cranking out work orders quickly!
Ross is a wizard with a wrench and park tool!
And.. a super nice guy
Excellent experience purchasing a bike for my teenage son. Staff, especially David (peachy) was fantastic and took his time working with my son to outfit him with the perfect bike. Highly recommend!!
They know bikes and everything that goes along with bikes. Always knowledgeable and friendly.
We decided to do a seasonal snowboard rental for the first time this season and just wanted to let you know how helpful and attentive Keith and Brian have been in your rental department! My daughter is new to snowboarding and we appreciate their knowledge and positive attitude. Thanks, guys!
Bought a MTB here recently for my son and Bailey F. was extremely helpful but not pushy either. Went back in to test ride a bike for myself and Bailey was great to deal with again. Store has a good amount of bike inventory covering a variety of budgets, bike types, etc. Nice little test ride area, too.
I really like the concept of this shop and the services that they offer. The employees who work the register have always been helpful and Rob who helped me pick out skis and boots was very informative and took a lot of time to ensure that I was purchasing the right equipment. However, 3 1/2 weeks after purchasing new skis, I took them in for a wax and noticed an issue with the edge of the skis. I was told to come back the following day to speak to a manager regarding the issue, the following day I go back to the store not only to find out there were no managers working but to also have a technician inform me the issue was the result of my skiing and that the skis warranty would not cover the issue. A helpful lady who was working the register took my skis and information and would later have the owner call me. The owner reiterated the technician by saying the issue would not produce a successful warranty claim and that by processing a warranty he would be "asking for a favor" if he contacted the manufacturer asking for a replacement. Nearly two weeks went by and I had not heard back regarding the status of the claim so I called the shop and inquired about the claim, I was told by a manager that they had not heard back from the manufacturer and that claims sometimes can take months during peak season. I then proceeded to contact the manufacturer to look into the claim, they had no record of a claim being submitted and noted that claims should take no more than a couple business days to process. After getting the manufacturer in touch with the shop to gather information and retrieve photos of the skis, it was determined that there was a clear delamination issue with the skis, resulting in a successful warranty claim (all within less than an hour). Overall, I felt like I got the run around from multiple employees at this shop, not following up with customers exhibits poor customer service, employees who don't normally interact with customers on certain things should not speak on behalf of their coworkers, and excuses like being "too busy" are not valid. Especially when you want to be the "premier" retailer that they declare to be.
I would like to commend Amber, Likaya and Pat from the shoe department! Amber has always been so helpful and knowledgeable about the running shoes I've purchased recently. She is an excellent resource not only about shoes but exercise and nutrition as well. Her friendly low pressure disposition is always welcome and keeps me returning if I am in the market for shoes or have any questions. Likaya and Pat recently went the extra mile to find an unusual size shoe despite being busy on no tax weekend. They too are very knowledgeable and friendly and I'm told amazing athletes. Thanks to 3 great employees.
By far my favorite store for snowboarding and ski equipment. Though it isn t due to the fact that they stock exactly what people want and stay on top of progression of the sport. It s actually due to the amazingly kind and knowledgeable staff that can be found in every department. I bought an entirely new set up and I was skillfully guided through each of my purchases. Special thanks to Jose (Weber), Brad, and the cool kid in the snowboarding section with an interesting name that I keep forgetting.... I think it begins with an L?.. regardless...best place for snowboard and ski related purchases, BY FAR!
I bought a pair of alpine boots . William , the sales person, was terrific to work with ,and was interested, present , and knowledgeable.
What an amazing experience:
Last week I stopped by Sport Systems to check if a Patagonia jacket that I found online, that was significantly on sale, was also at their store. To my happiness it was available at Sport Systems, but at it's full price. I decided to ask if they happened to price match, assuming they probably wouldn't. I showed them the price for the same jacket online (it was over 60% off) and not only did they say they could price match, but they could beat the price! Sport Systems has a fairly new program that allows them to match online prices for value. They take the price difference and allow you to choose from available options of products and services they offer that will not only match, but exceed the value. So with my $60 price difference, I walked away with paying full price for the jacket, but receiving two free ski rentals for any day of my choice in the future. At first, I was skeptical, of course wanting to save money and choose the online offer instead, but by hearing about their program, I realized I would ultimately be saving money by not only getting the jacket I wanted, but two ski rentals as well, that would have vastly exceeded normal costs. By choosing this program, I not only received greater value for the price, but I also helped support local business and was treated with the best customer service I have ever received from retail. They truly wanted to offer me the greatest values for my price and had my best interest at heart. I will definitely be returning to continue buying their products and supporting their value-match program!
I purchased new ski bothrough Ski Pro in my 4-6 days during ski season. I had boots fitted at other shops in NM. I brought my boots SS. Nate made new foot bed, heated and fitted my shell, then the boot liners. Results the most comfortable boots I have ever had in 60 plus years. When I need new boots, I heading into SS.
I visited Sport Systems today looking for a pair of Altra sport shoes. I'm glad I came in to try them on instead of buying on the internet because the model I was looking for turned out to fit in a half size larger than I normally purchase. Patti (Parker-Green) helped me get the proper size and was very knowledgeable about the brand. Thanks Patti. ...and Thanks Sport Systems ps it was nice to see Brook, the wonder dog again
Bike swap was dope! Got a great almost new Blue racing bike with campy components for a great deal!
I went to inquire about ski boot heaters and William was so very helpful. I ended up buying some. He installed them that day making, sure I got the proper insoles and everything fit well after the installation. He honored their policy of if you find it elsewhere they will honor that price. I love buying locally and this policy made it easy to do so!! I ended up getting the insoles and installation included. I have truly enjoyed them! My feet have never gotten cold since I had them installed even when skiing in -7 degree weather! I bought two more for Christmas gifts!! Thanks William for your polite, cheerful and helpful service!!
Great customer service! I bought a new pair of skis and bindings. The staff was extremely helpful. Dave in the repair shop had my bindings mounted very quickly so that I could ski on my birthday! Sport Systems is the best ski store in Albuquerque, if not New Mexico!
I purchased a Specialized Diverge A1 today from Sports Systems. I worked with a woman named Kelly. She did an excellent job of helping me out, she was very polite and knowledgeable. If she didn't know the answer she would ask for information and rely on her team mates to make sure I was getting all my questions answered correctly. She really made the whole buying experience a pleasure. Not once did she have an ego or make me feel bad for not knowing something. What a great experience and I am very happy with my new purchase. Thanks for your help Kelly.
Staff is always knowledgeable and helpful. They are athletes themselves and are passionate about their respective sports.
Mixed experiences but more bad than good. When/while you are spending a lot of money, customer service is good. If you have an issue, customer service is not great. Specific issues I have encountered. I had a return within their return policy window but they would only issue a store credit because the item was on sale (btw they consider a lot of their items 'on sale'). Also, beware on ski equipment that they may sell you bindings that turn out to have been on market for a while and then subsequently refuse to work in them because they are no longer indemnified by manufacturer (do your homework before you buy from them).
Dave is a great ski tech guy and super friendly. I've always liked this shop and enjoyed shopping there. They have a TON of outdoor gear.
Lee provided me with AMAZING customer service! Knowledgeable about products and sorted me a tire and tube incredibly fast!
The store is very good about letting one return merchandise. Their customer service is superb. They are far better than Sports Authority, which one should avoid at all costs. They wax one's skis at reasonable prices---and for free if you bought your skis there.
The staff was so helpful, I got my snowboard and all of my gear here!
Good customer service, they carry all the high quality brands and probably have what you need for all your outdoor sports. I like that they have locally made clothes and have a lot of New Mexico themes.
I came there to do a routine check for my bike. The employee took my bike without telling me anything. After spending 15 minutes to fix my bike he charged me 53 dollars. He said it was the 'basic service'. These people are clearly scammers and you should not trust them.
I bought new skis and bindings today after demo-ing all season. Sports Systems is great. Not only are they the only place in town that demos current season skis, but their selection is pretty decent, and they have an incentive program that applies your rental fees towards new skis! The staff are also friendly and knowledgeable.
good customer service and bike shop mechanics are the best
Sport Systems has great products and service is outstanding. I don t shop anywhere else for skiing and biking needs. Worked with William in the ski department. He is very experienced, knowledgeable, and patiently answered all my questions. I would recommend Sport Systems to anyone.
Sports Systems Staff did a great job helping me throughout my ski purchase. And Note that I bought everything online and brought it in to the shop so they will still treat you well no matter what. However, if I could do it again, I would probably buy local from Sports Systems. Nate and William are knowledgeable boot fitters and got me set and Rob did a great job with binding mounting.
And Remounting...
Be somewhat cautious when buying online, specifically the source country of the site. I had my binding completely fail structurally (literally snapped the heel off on third run of first day) causing a painful crash and the need to rent skis for the weekend. Warrantying the binding became a huge hassle and long lead time to get it back to The UK where the site I purchased the binding from is located, wait for warranty assessment, then receive new replacement binding back. All the hassle and missing out on several powder days could have been avoided by buying local here.
