Southgate Volkswagen LP Review

Shade at Southgate VW is a great service advisor and was able to look after my needs. I have been a customer since 2014 at Southgate VW. Although Shade is newer on the job she has outstanding customer service skills and was able to get my vehicle scheduled in right away. Highly recommend contacting her for your next VW appointment.

I am giving one star for the sales agent who attended me in the beginning.
But the Sales Manager Mike was very rude and the worst customer service i ever received.
It all was going okay until the sales manager arrived. Mike's tone to me as a customer was highly disappointing and completely unacceptable.
I am in the same field of customer service and expect the same for myself as well. I am not sure why customer service is no more a focus in some locations/businesses nowadays.
To be honest, i am shocked to see such a awful experience of customer service from a person who is a Manager in this location.
I am not gong to rhis location even if its the closest and will share this experience to as many people i can so that atleast they should not face this embarrassing experience and spoil their day/days thinking about it.

I thank this dealership for a comfortable purchase/sales experience of my 2015 VW Tiguan R-Line - all the way back to my 2012 Tiguan Comfortline and 2009 VW Rabbit. I thank Dan and Don for meeting and reaching my expectations regarding having resolved the imperfection (scratches on the paint) behind the decals of the rear hatch. I requested to be removed. I was painful in the beginning to be told "it's minor...don't worry about it...your under warranty..." But Don performed beyond what I expected from having tried to have it buffed out to having the hatch repainted as I was informed as the last resort.As well as providing a loaner vehicle. It took some time as I am a patient VW owner. Again, I thank Dan & Don for providing excellent service and my punchy-sporty R-Line Tiguan. You guys have definitely out done yourselves. As I have told you both before, I will only purchase vehicles from the both of you when it comes to VW vehicles.So happy w/my R-Line and still zooming on the roads and highways everyday ^_^.

Kent was fabulous to deal with. He was super helpful and and went out of his way to make sure I had a great buying experience.

The buying experience was enjoyable and flawless. Anton and Kris were knowledgeable, friendly and went above and beyond throughout the process. Evan from the finance team was the best i have ever dealt with. Had lots of information, options and was pushy or aggressive with upsales.

Would definitely buy here again and they earned everyone of the 5 stars.

Matters requiring Management are very difficult due unapproachable managers.

I bought a Golf diesel and am very happy with my purchase. The staff was excellent. I recommend you go and talk to Yang if looking to buy a VW.

Veer did a great job as a salesman. Direct speech, straight to the point, showed all car records prior to the sale and drive test. Very different from other dealers in town. I totally recommend him to anyone buying a car in Edmonton. Can't say the same about mechanical service. This is something that definitely could improve, no attention to detail whatsoever.

Bought a VW Golf Sportwagon manual and AWD, love it!

I found Mark Baker to be most helpful when I took the truck out on the hwy for a test drive which made the test drive a lot more fun. Also his professional attitude was impressive.

Service rolled me in right away and looked after my issue and fixed it quickly. Would reccomend them to anyone

Shade Pendleton was by a huge mile the best car sales person I have met in a while yet.
It s a pity we needed an SUV with more than a 2.0 engine and the Atlas was too large for our small family of 3.

I will have absolutely no reservation returning should we choose to buy a VW. On the other hand, I will readily recommend Southgate VW to friends and family!

I got in touch with Jackson at VW when looking for a new vehicle (This is my THIRD VW From Southgate VW). I purchased from Southgate before and the only reason I came back is I liked my previous salesperson Kent & Tyler. Southgate folks have always been courteous to do business with. Jackson and I mostly texted back and forth for 6 weeks and he was good enough to hold the vehicle I had been looking at in the colour and trim. He had a lot of patience, I had to bail on him the first meeting and I showed up late or missed other meetings or calls after that. My only regret was texting him so much, I really shoulda been on the phone with him, and this was my problem, not his. He is just as pleasant to deal with on the phone as in person. Right down to the final signature going back and forth with sales manager Matt I always felt Jackson had my best interests In mind. I'll buy another car from him. I got to know Evan N. who works in finance, what a good fella to deal with. I know they are all under natural pressure/obligation to sell and make some extra sales along the way, but I truly believed he wanted me to have the right program, accessories or warranties that would suit me. Thanks guys. My wife next vehicle will be number 4. Thanks for putting up with me.

WOW what can I say about the service staff at this awesome dealership. I have never been treated better, or received better customer service anywhere. I have dealt with all the advisors at one point or another... each one of them top notch. it doesn't matter if you get , Rhonda, Mary or Travis, you can be sure that the will handle all your need with the upmost professionalism. I know a lot of placed fall flat when trying to book an appointment... not at Southgate.. Shane the appointment guy is friendly and funny to deal with .. I have started making a habit of actually going down to the dealer now to book appointments because the staff are great to deal with...and I like the free coffee and looking at all the cool cars in the immaculate show room. I feel that these guys deserve a round of applause and a trip to Disney world. great job guys ... keep up the amazing work

Service & Repairs: thank you Holly Unger (service manager) and her team including Rhonda, Dave, and Dustin. Our 2017 Golf presented an odd creaking noise from the suspension, and the team never let up in their willingness to troubleshoot/resolve the problem. Even though this took multiple visits, emails, and phone calls, they conducted themselves with courtesy and professionalism.

The loaner cars and prompt follow-up calls helped. And, they are approachable when I pitched-in with an idea on the course of action/approach.

The problem is nearly gone, and they are now working the VW process at a regional level while keeping me posted.

I feel that buying a car is one thing; however, the relationship really starts after when you meet Service. I would recommend Southgate VW for your service needs.

From the arrangement of the test drive to the purchasing process, Christian was quick and responsive , with a great sense of humour. Veer walked me through the financing process with ease and honesty. There were a couple of small hiccups , possibly due to the quick turnaround time, but these were addressed when I brought them up.

My only recommendation would be to be more transparent with what s included with the purchase price versus the itemized costs of additional insurances and warranties. I was not expecting to pay as much as I did in in the end. Thanks!

If you want integrity and good communication, this is the VW to go to. Mike (manager) and Shade (salesgirl) were everything I expected and anticipated for in a sales team. They made my first car purchase really easy and stressfree. The deal was finalized within an hour. The manager John and sales person Dan were very helpful. They understood our vision quickly. Beware the dealer fees and admin fees they try to put on a purchase. AMVIC dealers must advertise ALL IN PRICING, only GST can be added. Dont be fooled and pay their AMVIC fee or $600 admin fees.

It s my first time at this service. I looked at previous reviews for a VW dealer in Edmonton. I was not disappointed. Staff are prompt and friendly. Service was very good. I feel they were honest about their assessment. They are a bit pricey but probably on par with other dealers in AB.

I found a used VW Atlas online that I have been wanting. I requested a CarFax report and I got a instant response from Dan Heller. He and Christian Geddes both responded promptly and this was on the family day long weekend. I put a hold on the car and went to see it. I had a deal written up in about an hour and picked up my car 3 days later.

Went there met with chris the sales man he was really good gave us test drive and everything.

Than came there manager jason was his name chris told us he was so rude i was smiling and asking for deal he said no and i smiled and said i will walk and wont buy he simply said he go.

Way to go volkswagen south for making customers...

Chris called in 5 minutes and offered same deal which we asked.

I was very nervous...walking into Southgate VW and making the decision to buy a car was causing me stress. After 4 previous experiences of buying from other dealerships, I was expecting the worst! However, it was anything but that. I was greeted by Veer, who seemed friendly and sincere. I told him I wanted to go for a test drive and no smile faces, or sad ones . We were treated with humility and respect! I left that dealership with a new Tiguan that I adore!!!! More fool my husband for letting me purchase it in my name! Matt (sales manager) made it happen, Evan (finance) didn t go crazy with the up sell and Ralph (parts) well he just made my day.

I had been looking into ordering the mk7 golf r ( order only model that usually takes 6+ months to arrive from order date) since it's release in Europe but never felt it was the "right time" until April 2016 had the awesome finial rates. Called in at Southgate volkswagen and was assisted by Mr. Kent Astle. He let me know that there were a couple available and answered all my questions regarding the financing terms and such. As this was a big purchase and not to mention a spontaneous one, my wife and I had to discuss it over the weekend. It took alot of crafty persuasion but I got my wife to agree to the purchase. In the midst of this I was already texting and phoning Kent every hour for the whole weekend with a bombardment of questions. (Yes I was and still am a fanatic of the golf R). Kent was very patient with my pestering and honest with answering all my questions( if he didn't know the answer off hand he looked for the answer and didnt make things up on the spot). Needless to say Kent made the experience of buying our first Volkswagen a great experience. We bought the car the same day we saw it and Kent set us up with Tammy Giggs who gave us a very detailed explanation of everything included in the purchase price, available finance options and available optional add on packages. She made us feel safe and we'll cared for in our time at the financing department. Bought a used car from these artists. 35,000km on it. Brought car in for service at a different dealer at 40,000km and have to pay for the 30,000km service that was not done and should have been done before they sold me the car. They had about 15 of this model Tiguan for sale that were Rental company buy backs, so I am sure anyone else that bought one was also ripped off. There are other things that also make these guys unreliable. i.e. charges for registration that were not supposed to be added and bold face lying about an Auction House buying my used vehicle and then showed on their website for sale. Beware, untrustworthy bunch of people.

Customer service in Service department .
Expect to get extra charge for simple diagnostics.
Like turning the steering wheel due to rubbing sound and checking the Bluetooth system to make sure it s working.
I highly recommend to find another dealership for you services.

Dan H. was the best salesman we could have ever had. He deserves a raise, and didn't even tell me to say that. He was fun, outgoing, responded to me incredibly frequently and at the most unlikely hours (I won't say exactly which hours because I don't want him to die of exhaustion from other people expecting the same). When we met him in person, he was unbelievably outgoing, chatty, and amusing. Exactly our kind of humour. We didn't have to push or press for things we wanted: we'd point them out and he'd figure it out without us having to ask him for them.

Additionally, what made our experience better than we ever could have expected was that someone (Mike probably, but possibly Josh, according to Dan) went to our "new" used car before we bought it and filled in the small rock chip specks with a paint pen! We'd already had money down on the car, there was no sales motive to get those tidied up, but Mike (or Josh) did it anyway.

Unbelievable, I sure hope this Volkswagen knows what gems they have. We've been to other Volkswagen dealers that have made us want to swear off ever going into another one, whereas we can't wait to go back to the Southgate Volkswagen to visit Dan another time. If we didn't live three hours away, we'd be going here with every Volkswagen issue.

when i was looking to buy they were amazing, when I bought they were amazing, but ever since then i had issues and no one will return e-mails nor able to answer any question i have when i call. they say to bring the car there. i called 3 times about symbols as i keep forgetting my manual at home cause I've been reading it, but when more than one symbol on the dash comes up I'm not sure if i should worry or if its a safety thing but no one knows what the symbols are. i feel service should be able to at least tell me what the symbol means so we can decide if i should come to the other side of the city or not. also i called about the Alberta package and feel i didn't get what i was told but no one will tell me exactly what is included. getting annoyed and i cant drive there every time i have a simple question.
i do love my car just wish i would have went elsewhere to get it.

I dealt with Kent Astle when purchasing my 2017 Beetle. He was well informed, professional and not at all pushy. He answered all of my questions prior to purchasing the vehicle and continues to be helpful even after the sale!

Must be the first time I have actually enjoyed buying a car. Generally, I find the whole process of looking for a car and buying a car a painful experience. With Southgate VW, that has changed. The staff are very helpful. Perhaps not the most knowledgeable of their products, but they are very good a listening to your needs and trying to meet them. I'd give them 4.5 out of 5.

We had a positive experience at Southgate VW with Jordan. He helped us set up an extended test drive as well as delivered the vehicle right to our home. He also helped us with the logistics of picking up our new vehicle and made it very easy for us. The negotiating process was transparent which we really appreciated. I have been to many dealerships before for different cars I owned earlier. This was the first time I bought a T-Reg. This was probably the worst service ever...No follow ups...lack of responsibility and general managers - really who hired them?? I asked them to do a car wash and couple of other services that I needed for my car...just an oil change alone took them 3.5 hours and at the end this rep tells me sorry that he couldnt do the car wash because it was going to rain outside and may be next time? seriously? what is wrong with people in Edmonton?
too bad...they lost a customer...and trust me people...I would rather try the other VW dealership in North Edmonton and see how there services are overall !!!

The salesperson is friendly and always ready to help, this helps me feel at home. It is especially important for a newcomer to Edmonton like me. The explained clearly. It is really a pleasant purchasing experience and I would surely recommend them to others.

I requested several documents and information to be sent out to me prior to coming to the dealership so I can have time to review. Southgate VW is the only dealer I will ever use for purchasing a new vehicle, parts or service. Rhonda in service is always very friendly and helpful. A loaner vehicle was promised and ready upon drop off. My car was ready when promised and the repair was completed without issue. Jon the technician was extremely thorough and made sure the repair was properly completed and found an issue we weren't aware of that was also taken care of. He was extremely professional and left the car in the same condition it was in when dropped off. He also explained what he found and how it was repaired. I would definitely recommend Southgate VW to anyone in need of a new vehicle or looking for parts or service.

Customer service is very good and everyone is pleasant to speak with. Servicing your car is quick and easy and they have a complimentary shuttle service. If you talk with the VW collision centre for body work, you might end up being juggled between office and dealership.
