Beautiful spot with stunning views and a fantastic beach. The pool is refreshing and very clean. Rooms are also very clean and spacious with wonderful views and large balconies. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The only issue is that there doesn't seem to be a large variety of dining options and the food is very costly.
Scmancy !! everything you expect in a high end resort AMAZING location GREAT service.
The staff was not very welcoming. We were sent to find our room with only sketchy verbal instructions, when unable to find it we had to go back and wait in line at the counter again. When we finally found our room which was all the way at the end of the buildings it was on the 4th floor and no elevator in site. After lugging our luggage up 4 flights of stairs (and we are far from teenagers) we were already left with a sour taste in our mouths. It was our 25th anniversary and we were supposed to have a champagne bucket and you guessed it we were still invisible. In our stay package we had Dinner under the stars and all we were supposed to have to pay for was the tip for the waiter and taxes, so we tipped the waiter very well he was very attentive. When we checked out we had to pay for the dinner under the stars plus a very generous tip for the waiter that we had already tipped. So my advice is don't expect too much here.
Excellent location, good rooms. We also stayed at Hyatt regency down the road -Hyatt has better rooms and better pools, but the beach was better near Sheraton.
Kianna is the best concierge staff u need to approach. She ll give you all the information about the activities and very happy to take care all the reservations! I'll definitely recommend her!! Thank you for everything..I absolutely happy for her services.
Very large campus with lots of room to get away. Huge outdoor pool with lazy river leading Into the shallow pools for children, Including a small water slide and waterfall's. On the beach spa treatments available. Rentals for small and large Cabana's as well as various water equipment.
Utilized the grounds and catering for a company event. Well organized and food/drink was great.
It's a nice hotel I'm sorry I went on strike There was no service and no housekeeping, and there were only 2 restaurants open, so the entrance was blocked by the employee of the strike and it took a long time to get in by car. The I think that it is a very good hotel if it is normal.
Actually...we went to an area called Black Rock which is right next to the Sheraton to do some snorkeling. It was amazing! While we were putting on our gear on...in about 18 inches of water... a sea turtle swam around our legs within 4 or 5 inches of touching us! When we were snorkeling, a turtle swam up to about 3 feet from me!! I swear, we looked each other in the eye! It was truly amazing. Sea turtles are magnificent creatures, The picture was actually taken at the condo we were staying at.
Great old resort. Mahogany wood throughout is gorgeous! Very few rooms face the ocean, most are a sideways view. The restaurant isn't worth the money or ambulance, which is pool, not ocean. Friendly is performed, not genuine.
The event was very tacky. Promised an ethnically correct Lua instead got an event catered to tourists that resembled any event on the mainland. Waste of money and time.
Would've given 5 stars but they don't have a store to buy booze for your room
My spouse and I stayed here during our vacation for our first year anniversary. The view and architecture of the entire area was aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and soul. The rooms were clean and spacious (including the balcony). There are several pool areas intricately designed around the front part of the grounds with various depth of water. They had two restaurants open on their property with limited items. However, they were all delectable. They took proper precautions during COVID. They still had daily housekeeping available (on request).
We love the location. The staff are friendly and make the guests feel.special. Great snorkel opportunities.
Not a review for the resort but the beach and facilities. The beach at black rock can get a bit crowded but it's a great swimming break and snorkeling around black rock itself is decent (watch for the cliff jumpers) waves break hard sometimes so watch the little ones as they can get knocked off their feet. The facilities are nice and it's a good place to grab a drink at sunset watch the view and see the daily torch lighting and five off black rock. I ordered a mai tai and it was weirdly bitter, not my favorite. Nice place to spend a day, swim, walk the beach walk and enjoy Ka'anapali.
Great rooms and service. Lots of amenities available, as well as access to beaches and dining spots. The beach pathway can take you all over, even into town in case you need to buy groveries.
Woke up to roaches in our bed and a leaking toilet in the bathroom. It would have not been so bad if not for the indifference from the front desk when I went to complain. The grounds are beautiful, Bree the concierge is most helpful and conscientious, however, everything else was less than what one might expect from a Sheraton Resort. I will never stay at Sheraton Maui again.
It's a beautiful clean hotel with a good location. The food options aren't that great and they charge for random things like a microwave. Check-in can take a while (up to 35 minutes).
The beach is amazing and most of the staff is great. The check in went horrible. They lost our reservation, the computers were down and we had to wait 30 minutes at 2 in the morning and then were given the worst room in the hotel despite being platinum status. We asked to be moved after we woke up and was helped by an extremely helpful employee that made sure we were taken care of. So day crew is good, midnight shift not so good.
Service is nice and room was clean. No screens to patio, so bugs would come.
When originally planing This trip my travel agent suggested the Sheraton becuse she said she was familiar with the resort and considered it a good 4 1/2 star resort .After staying at the Sheraton i believe that was very accurate , very good advice . And would without doubt end up there again if staying on MAUI. The Sheraton is a very beautiful , very well maintained and manacured property ! The Sheraton's staff is absolutly wonderful . The entire staff were, professional , ftiendy ,efficient, and eager to help anyway nessessary to make our stay enjoyable . The Sheraton's location is also a huge deal , sitting on "Black Rock" the PREMIER location on Kaanapalli beach . We used very little of the resorts facilities , but spent a lot of time on the beach and swiming with the TROPICAL FISH and the sea turtles up against the edge of Black Rock. With the combination of the Sheraton's facilities , location , and staff, I also consider it a very.good 4 1/2 star resort !!
The hotel is nice, although it's a bit more modest than some of the others in Ka'anapali.
Our favorite place to stay in Maui. Right off of BlackRock which is a great place to snorkel. We always see a good amount of fish and run into a turtle or two every day.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice clean room. Beautiful grounds and beach.
Giving this hotel just one star but have to say the location, the beach and the resort it self is beautiful. The staff at the restaurants, bars/pool spa were nice and helpful. However, that was about it.
All started upon check-in. We get to the resort around 6 in the evening. The line at the front desk is short, however the staff was painfully slow. Finally get greeted and the lady ask us if we were okay with a double bed even though I had requested a week before for a king room and it was just my wife and I celebrating an anniversary which they knew. We told her we want a King room, she said they had one for upgrade (pay or extra of course) an ADA accessible room. Not wanting to spend more than we already had, we agreed to the ADA room. Total downgrade!! Bathroom was a nightmare with no counter space. I went back within 10 minutes to ask for the upgraded view room the lady offered earlier. She tells me it is no longer available but she can switch me to another room the next day. How does that even happen? I know this was a lie and she probably didn't want to "upgrade" me. So we are stuck with the current room for a night. Room was right by elevators and there was a huge women's conference on that floor which was so loud through that night. Woke up constantly throughout the night due to disruptions of people screaming and running around. After asking for another room, they offered one for next day and the lady moves us down just a few doors. Had to get stern about all the disruptions and moved us to a decent room on a different - something we should have gotten in the first place. Wasted so much time over this.
Second night, we gave the valet our ticket to get our car. I had stepped away and told the valet I would be back, my wife waited for the car. The valet called out the name and my wife gets into the car (exact same car as our rental). Upon entering she noticed the car was different from the interior so she opened the door to get out, the valet approached her and rudely started telling her he had called out the name "Lee", which sounds really close to my last name "Ali" and the car was the exact same make/model/color. He could have been nice about it, after all, we are guests of the hotel.
Lastly, the final night we were there, we return from a long day to our room to realize our bathroom amenities haven't been restocked.
To summarize, the service at this hotel was horrible. The front desk staff (besides a guy named Noah, he was very helpful upon checkout) valet/bell desk needs customer service training. The resort, pool, and beach areas are nice. Spa is being renovated but the spa services were great.
Their luau was pretty awesome! We opted for the cocktail instead of buffet, which was significantly cheaper and we didn't miss any part of the performance.
Lovely, family friendly resort with lots of open spaces and a variety of pools. More family friendly than other resorts. They host a luau on site each week. Great option for events as they have many common areas and ballroom spaces.
Grounds are nice. Remodeled buildings are nice. They cheaped out on some things like the beach/pool towels. Also most hotels provide complimentary coffee in the lobby but here it's over $4 per cup. Also either the water itself or the sink drain in my room smelled like sewage!! I'm a little worried about what I was brushing my teeth with!
Very nice relaxing environment and excellent staff got a great massage
Where do I begin. When we first arrived to the resort it looked promising. It s a beautiful property, that s really all it has going for it. The rooms are very out dated, the bed was horrible, and our room had a conjoining door and you could literally hear everything being said in the other room. Normal conversations turned into a sharing experience with our neighbors. We rented a car from the airport and we had to pay 31$ a day just to park it there. We were charged 50$ just because we lost a couple of the towel tickets. We had to pay a 26$ a day fee for the resort fee , which was garbage. It says it pays for the WiFi, pool access, etc. but the WiFi was horrible. It always kicked us off. The pool was extremely cold, it just wasn t us because no one was swimming in the pool. The tiny hot tub was always full of kids swimming in it, it s not the kids fault, it s that the pool was too cold. The worst part is that the beach right in front of the resort is a public beach. We had to get up to claim spots on the beach at 6am. One morning we headed out there at 9:30 am and the beach was completely full. The only spot left open was two recliner chairs that apparently you have to rent from the hotel, which we sat in and a staff member came up to us and was very rude and told us we needed to pay attention to where we were sitting unless we were paying. For how much money we spent we got nothing as far as amenities. Lawn chairs, towels, snorkel gear, WiFi, parking, and so on, we all had to pay for. It was complete garbage. There was a lady Caroline that works at the water sports building where you rent snorkel gear from and she was completely rude. Very disappointed in this resort. We were there for 8 days and 7 of those days we left to go do things at other beaches and different activities. We will not consider staying at this resort again. It was a complete waste of tons of money that we paid. If it wasn t for us leaving every day it would have been a really horrible vacation.
We had a nice time on our honeymoon at the Sheraton Maui. The customer service was fantastic, and we really enjoyed the shuttle service between the hotel and Lahaina.
The reasons for 4 stars instead of 5: food and drinks were on the pricey side for their quality, and the "adults only" pool was anything but. Because it was our honeymoon, we wanted a relaxing experience, and having an adults-only pool was a selling point for us. Unfortunately, there were a lot of kids in the adults pool, and I think that was due to a lack of signage, and a lack of enforcement. Adults "pool" is a generous way to put it, too - as it was more a roped off area inside a pool instead of a dedicated pool. I am not sure I'd stay there again due to this reason.
Older hotel in great condition. Great location with an awesome beach. We only spent one day here but in the future, I would spend more time at this hotel.
There are not many Koreans and the beach is close and good.
Fabulous place, gorgeous beach. Everything closes a bit too early
Great views of black rock and tastey Bloody Mary's.
Beautiful beach & grounds. Fair price for Kamaaina.
Rude staff.. Try talking to a guy named Noah at the front desk. It will make you not stay at the property for a second time..
Visited to go to Black Rock beach, it's a bit of a walk but everything else was fine!
Due for a refresh of the rooms and pool areas. Friendly staff though.
I spent one day there. I cant wait to go back for a week and bring all my friends
I'm impressed. Friendly service in a top location. Property well maintained and the rooms are comfortable. Food and drinks pricey but to be expected.
Great hotel, good service, right on the best part of the beach with fantastic snorkeling.
Nice resort with plenty to offer if your main goal is to relax. Great food and friendly staff, beautiful view!
The Sheraton Maui has been a fantastic experience so far. Very accommodating and helpful.
Here for a destination wedding, couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Accommodations are stellar but food and service are overpriced and not up to expectations.
I have been a Starwood platinum guest for 10 years. My wife and I are spending 5 days here over the Thanksgiving break. 3 days in, I can tell you that this is the most disappointing Starwood property I have ever been to:
- They charge a $30 "resort fee" and claim that it's for internet access (but platinum members should get free internet anyway).
- They place is CRAWLING with kids and teenagers (even though the hotel markets itself to couples). My wife and I tried going to the hot tub about 15 times, and every time, day or night, it was full of kids from the ages of 12-16.
- The hotel is old - probably built in the 1960s or 1970s, and barely updated. It smells bad.
- The breakfast service is horrendous. Wrong bills, never getting coffee.
- The front desk service was mediocre and slow.
The only plus was the maid service. Very, very friendly.
This place is an abomination. No one in their right mind should waste money or Starwood points staying here.
BE AWARE!... hotel staff is protesting in front of the hotel & AT THE BEACH... SHAME ON YOU SHERATON!!... they charge so much... but they can t give a raise for hard working people... Sheraton ruin my whole honeymoon! NOT COMING BACK HERE AGAIN!!!!
Great hotel! Great location! Would definitely recommend. Everything is clean and everyone that works here was very nice.
We were promised joint rooms however they have us rooms that were not close to one another. Other than that the cleaning staff was extremely nice and made our room clean. The pool and ocean was beautiful.
Ehh. The beach is great but next time will stay somewhere else and drive over to use the beach. Hotel is old. Staff is noticeably undertrained. Everything is nickel and dime to the point I am not sure how they can justify the $120/n "resort fee." All in, I would say our stay was adequate.
Getting older but still good. Pools are alright. Black Rock is right there.
Incredible hotel, expensive as expected, Black Rock Beach is awesome. Carry lots of cash with you.
Located in the heart of Lahaina, home of some of the best local eats in Maui, the resort is situated along Kaanapali Beach, which is one of the best (and warmest) on the island, along with multiple other resorts.
The pros:
- Friendly enough staff
- Free valet the first night, and all nights for Platinum members
- A few feet away from the beach
- Great sunset views
- Clean rooms
- Multiple depths in the pool - good for beginner and advanced swimmers
- Kid friendly - a few activities are offered daily
The cons:
- Pay for your own lounge chair ($55/day for a double with hooded shade, and $15 for a single, w/o shade) to relax on the beach- you're charged a resort fee, yet still have to pay for a lounge chair?
- Nearly impossible to find a chair by the poolside (you have to get in real early and plop your stuff down)
- Not many activities offered by the resort
- No 'green-choice' option
- Facilities are huge, and guest services isn't great at giving directions from one building to another. Carry your own map around.
Overall, this is a decent resort for people with families, but watch out because the expenses will add up since very little is included in the resort fee. Don't recommend it for a leisure couple trip.
Best Beach in the area, with a lot of sea life. Resort is nice and has all the amenities.
Perfect area to be in,you have everything you need and a lot of activities
Great location. Great Staff. When we asked for an extra chair for the balcony so we both could enjoy a cup coffee, they responded very promptly.
The service and food was excellent the rooms are ok but definitely need some updating. The grounds pool and beach are terrific and close to restaurants and shopping
Beautiful resort with many amenities, gorgeous view, and friendly staff.
Loved everything about this resort. Could have spent my entire trip here and would have had all that I needed right within reach.
Everyone so far has been very helpful. 1st day at the resort
Dated impersonal cattle call hotel with a confusing layout. There are tons of kids so it s not good for couples. The hotels biggest concern is apparently beach towels as they give you towel cards at check in that you have to hold onto through checkout. You can t get Beach towels without these silly cards and it feels like they re treating you like one of the many 5 year olds running around.
Customer service, beautiful rooms and grest location. Beautiful grounds and pool.
You get nothing what you pay for here. Yes the rooms and pool are nice, but that's about it. Also you will have to pay 30$ a day for parking.
My experience here was that of a cheap motel, except it had a good view.
They couldn't bother to put something as simple as bottles water in the room.
Majority of staff we dealt with were rude and not helpful and since we were paying $1,000 a night I was disappointed are room was crawling with sweet ants all week which no one took seriously. Lastly, medication was stolen from our room while the company came to spray for the sweet ants and they denied my claim stating that was my fault. They failed to clean the room two days while we were there and while dealing with all the above for mentioned it was done so with disrespect, rudeness, and lack of empathy.
Overpriced, poor amenities, old rooms and furniture. Just a normal Sheraton, but resort prices without the resort quality.
We stayed at another resort down the road for 5 days prior to moving to Sheraton. We moved to Sheraton because my wife had a conference there, so it was for convenience.
Immediately I felt I was financially being taken advantage of. $20/ day for resort fee (parking, WiFi, shuttle). If I m paying so much for a room, that should be included in my opinion. It was at other resorts.... $33 breakfast buffet that was worse than the $15 breakfast buffet at our other resort. Food at all restaurants was bland and overpriced (burger with a commercialized BAG OF CHIPS) for $22, service was poor, and was generally unhappy with the experience.
Not a very family friendly place- no lawn games for kids, no indoor areas for activities if it is raining, etc.
Rooms had thin walls, bathrooms have no fans (near toilet or shower), carpet is stained and old, mattress and headboard don t connect so ultra soft pillows they provide fall between all night and you end up without a pillow.
The ONLY redeeming quality was the pools. They have a hot tub but it is small and hidden.
What an amazing resort... had a spectacular room, phenomenal service, and an amazing good time swimming/snorkeling with the turtles, and fish... pristine reef if you walk to your left until you hit the life guard tower.
Stayed for 7 nights. Nice, family-friendly resort. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit small with outdated carpet and decor, but view and updated bathroom along with overall setting helps. On-premise restaurants are convenient, but not destinations. Haute Dogs/Mai Tai and the Cliff Dive Bar are easy lunch spots when lazing at the pool and beach. Beach access is steps away from rooms, making it very convenient. Resort abuts Black Rock and the snorkelling and cliff diving make for enjoyable activities. Resort is large and sometimes sparse, has ugly carpet throughout, outdated and minimal pool chairs (more should be added), over-starched linens, hit-or-miss pool services (towels often unavailable), and average food. However, the setting, location, friendly staff, and easy access to shuttle/L hain /amenities makes a huge difference. Recommend staying here for the price and enjoyment of all on offer. Special shoutouts to Gabriel at the front desk and Adam with concierge for their helpfulness.
We came on our honeymoon and we upgraded to an Ocean View room and given two complimentary small bottles of Sparkling Wine.
Late checkout: at most you ll push out to Noon from 11am and have access to facilities; no A/C place to relax - that should be added
Shuttle: runs on the hour; could use an additional shuttle to break the gap
Pool: not extravagant, but an enjoyable lazy river with waterfalls and hot tub; get out early to set up for pool chairs and come back later
Breakfast: overpriced, but convenient. Buffet is $32 and to-order items are ~$20
Lunch: prices range from $13-22, with drinks between $8-15; recommend Quesadilla, wings, and pork tacos at Cliff Dive or hot dogs at Haute Dog
Dinner: plan to take the Shuttle North to Duke s or South to L hain , or go elsewhere. Food is available, but redundant if you ve spent the day at the resort
Parking: $22/day
Shuttle Stop: awkward location. If being dropped off, there are no clear signs to lead you to check in. Main entrance should be the usual drop-off for airport arrivals.
Not the best experience at the restaurant for thanksgiving and after being paid in full they put $2000 On 2 separate credit cards which didn't clear for our whole trip.
We booked our honeymoon here and were greeted by massive construction. The hotel did not see fit to notify guests in advance - we got an email a week before our departure, when it was clear that this construction had been happening for quite some time, and we had booked 3 months in advance. (It was a major overhaul - the lobby was completely closed off, as were all the restaurants - and would have been in the works for a long time, not just a spontaneous bit of repair.) The Hyatt down the road courteously notified its guests in advance - in fact, we booked at the Sheraton over the Hyatt in the first place because we were hoping to avoid the construction. It s not very relaxing to sit by the pool or on the beach with the sound of jackhammers in the background! I previously provided feedback to the hotel and received only a generic sorry about that email. This was clearly a deliberate attempt to mislead guests and to avoid missing out on bookings, and is a pretty shady business practice. Had we known how disruptive this would be, we definitely would have stayed elsewhere - and now, due to the way it was handled, I don t think I d go back.
