Worst repair/dealer experience I have ever had. I ...
Worst repair/dealer experience I have ever had. I would absolutely not recommend Naperville Jeep to anyone, ever. They are rude, condescending, have poor communication, and added lies upon lies.
Story:
I noticed my 2017 jeep wrangler began leaking on the passenger side axle. After doing some quick googling I determined it was a bad axle seal which is pretty common on lifted wrangler. The jeep repair book quotes 2 hours to replace it. I decided to schedule an appointment at the Naperville jeep dealer to have the work done as we were in the process of moving and it was on the way. I called the dealer, the receptionist transferred me to parts, the parts guy quoted $26 for the part. I was then transferred to another person to get a quote on repair. I received a quote of 2 hours. Perfect. I was then transferred to another person who handles the scheduling. This dealer was 2-3 weeks out on scheduling but happen to have a spot at 9:15 Friday to have the work done. Great, that was the day we had the movers coming for the new house. It will be tough, but we ll make it work.
This is where the fun starts.
We limped the jeep to the dealer 1.5 hours away Thursday, a day early, to drop it off since we would be moving on 8/31 and the jeep shouldn t be driven since it was leaking.
11:00 AM Friday I text Mark our Service Advisor to see how the work went. (No response)
12:20 PM Friday I text Mark our Service Advisor for an update. (No response)
2:00 PM Friday I decide to call for an update since Mark won t respond. I m told the Jeep is in the bay STILL being worked on.
2:51 PM Friday I get a call from Mark and was advised they won t have time to even LOOK at the jeep for a week or so and I need to reschedule. When I question him on the timeline above I was provided a made-up story on how these jeeps have multiple seals on each side and it takes hours and hours to fix and they wont have time. I remind him the Jeep book recommends 2 hrs to complete the work and bill the customer and the Jeep only has 1 seal on each side. What were they doing all day with my jeep? Why were they not responsive and honest from the get go? Why did they lie at 2:00 saying it was being worked on? Mark starts getting extremely hostile and defensive that I called out his lies and that I was a well-informed customer. He back peddles, makes up more excuses, and argues for a bit. I let Mark vent which I thought was a bit inappropriate of him but ultimately, he has my $45,000+ jeep in his possession so I better not push this hot head much more.
At this point I know I m getting nowhere with the SA Mark, so I request to speak with the manager. The manager advises me they will try to get the jeep done today.
3:42 PM Friday Mark calls back extremely cocky and condescending. We have the jeep apart. There s mud in it and I have pictures to prove it. *He s almost laughing now* It will now be a 5+ hour job, like I said earlier, to clean up the mud and $850 to replace BOTH sides. And we can t get it done for another week
Now remember only 1 side was leaking and I was quoted 2 hours originally. At this point there s nothing I can do. My Jeep is an hour and a half away, I just moved in to a new house and have no way to move the jeep to another dealer. I agree to have the work done and wait a week.
Sadly, I feel like I was taken advantage of for talking back to Mark. He was a terrible Service Advisor to deal with. Had I not called out his lies and lack of communication things may have gone smoother. I wonder now if they would have only charged me for the original 2 hours and not 3 additional hours had Mark not gotten so mad. The whole ordeal was super frustrating. At this point I cannot recommend Naperville Jeep to anyone. They are rude, condescending, have poor communication and piled lies upon lies to get their way and ultimately bully me in to paying more and scheduling the work on their time. I was overcharged and feel I was taken advantage of.
