Unfortunately, despite the location, I can t get over how bad the food is...it s worse than movie theatre food. We have given up and now walking to other hotels. Given the hotel room cost you would expect a lot more but they cut costs on many things which ruins what could be a wonderful experience for the family. Stay here if you re ok never eating the food and have a family. The beach and pool experience are great for all the kids.

Very poor service workers on strike we were not notified was not told until we arrived we booked a month in advance we should ve been told. will not recommend the Sheraton to no one highly recommend the westIn. We Saved for six years to come to maui Hawaii. Annoyed by all the strikers chatting if you want to mail her go to the bar yet to walk down the beach to a different resort we really like the Westin
They have a very friendly staff and made our stay very enjoyable. I recommend this hotel and would definitely come back again. I enjoyed the pool and the beach beach a lot. The room was really nice and seemed to be remodeled recently. I really liked the fitness center since no one hardly used it, it seemed like I had my own private gym.
Incredibly hospitable. We were in the last building which is keeping me from giving this place five stars, the walk daily was a bit much and there was no chair in the room which was strange to me. Just a bench. The concierge were delightful. We were given a water while we waited for our Uber to leave. There is a shop in the hotel that was very over priced but had everything we could need at last minute. The maids were very friendly and the rooms clean.
I was very disappointed and very frustrated with my luau experience. I got there early to get a good seat but the way the line snaked back on itself at least 50 people cut in front of us and we ended up way in back. The sound was bad in the back so it was difficult to hear. My food and service was excellent but some guest were sitting on the wall in front of us blocking our view and I had to ask them to move.
We joined the Sheraton Luau on Friday night. Fantastic event with great food, excellent drinks, activities, entertainment, and a setting that could not have been topped. Sunset on the West side of Maui with family and a Mai Tai should be on everyone's bucket list.
We were not notified of a strike prior to our arrival. We had to cancel and reschedule on site since we did not want our honeymoon ruined. I will never stay at a SPG property again. Im giving two stars because they did refund our money but it was a giant hassle during our honeymoon to try and find another property.
Best snorkeling spot on Maui (Black Rock), and very cool river pool with tiny water slide for the babes, wading pool, and fabulous beanbag floaties...fell asleep floating along the river. I appreciated the cultural activities, reef-safe sunscreen available in the lobby, and water bottle stations (mahalo)! Rooms are updated, featuring modern fixtures in the bathrooms, and nice cold rooms to escape the summer heat. I already cannot wait to get back!
If I could make a suggestion, please offer to hire high school kids to clean up the beach in exchange for a free lunch. There are too many soaked trashed towels laying everywhere toward the edge of the beach near Black Rock. I hope they are all cotton towels, but didn't check. It saddened me to see a respectable hotel let that happen to their prized beach, yet I hope it's dealt with soon.
Spectacular! Lots to do. Several pools that are all connected. Beach and ocean with the aboty to rent all sorts or water gear. Plenty of bars and food on site. Walking distance to shopping center. And Black Rock. Enough said.
Great location: best beach in area, cliff diving, and gorgeous views from all over. The pool is good, clean and meandering enough for some privacy. The rooms are modern and clean. We are thinking of coming back with our kids.
My wife and I stayed for ten nights on our honeymoon. Evelyn was amazing and upgraded us to a spectacular room adjacent to the cliff and facing the water. Wonderful staff that went above and beyond for us. Loved the property, especially after seeing some of the nearby hotels. You can't beat the location. Only downside was that the breakfast was expensive.
Absolutely perfect! We were in building 6 which was a long walk from dining area, but worth it for the beautiful ocean front view. Overall hotel was emasculate and modern amenities. Pool is gorgeous and right on beach. Saw turtles right in shallow water and nice snorkeling
Great room with view of whales and black rock but was not told about the construction work going on in the rooms next to us and below us. Loved having black rock there to snorkel.
Sheraton Maui resort is great! They have good service providers and staff on site ready to help you with all your needs. The place is located just beside Black Rock on Kaanapali Beach. Definitely wish there was cheaper parking around.
The ocean front rooms have a beautiful view, we were in building 6. The tower is far from the rest of the resort (3 different elevators to get to the lobby/restaurants) but has its own self parking lot. You can't see any of the property from the room just the ocean, Molokai and a different beach and resort off in the distance. The room/hotel felt old/worn, found an ant every once in a while. Wish there was a couch, but pulling the two chairs together worked fine for room service and tv watching. Staff was friendly, fire pits and restaurants were nice. Gift shop had a good selection of sundries and snacks(mostly junk food, no ice cream though). The lawns are well manicured, not much else though, a walk around the property in boring. Didn't feel too crowded (in January).
Amazing location right next to Black Rock if you're into beaches and snorkeling. Massive pool for the kids. Short walk to Whaler's Village if you're into shopping. The resort grounds is an image of paradise. The rooms are a bit dated but don't let that keep you away.
Went to go watch the sunset cliff jumping show and found out after the sunset that the show was cancelled. No notice was given and parking was expensive at the hotel. Very nice grounds and caught a glimpse of a luau on the way out.
Had a great weeklong stay here! Incredible ocean view, great Mai tais, beach access, neat lazy river-style pool, and a boardwalk allow the beach to easily walk to other resort restaurants or to Whaler's Village. Very relaxing spa right at the resort. Breakfast buffet was delicious also!
Great location, nice and clean rooms, beach is quite busy since Black Rock is a main attraction . Buffet is not as good as other tropical Starwood properties I visited. Overall I'd recommend it.
The room itself was fine - clean and nothing was broken. But the service wasn't. Room key cards didn't work. Waited over 15 minutes for someone to let us in, and then another 15 minutes for him to come back with working key cards. Hotel restaurant staff is under-trained. Other staff (driving around in golf cart) had "not my job" attitude.
Worst hotel to stay at. I feel I got discriminated against because I'm Mexican. I got placed in a room next to the elevator we couldn't sleep at night because of the noise. Then the concierge messed up our tour reservations and instead of going above and beyond to help me out and book another one he just said I'm sorry, and didn't care that our whole day got ruined. Vacation stay desk called me yesterday to plan my stay, the last night of my stay!! Very unorganized!! My boss booked my trip here, thinking I would the best time as he and the other attorney I work with both stay at the Sheraton every year for at least 2 weeks and they have always been treated with me the best. When I complained to the hotel manager Alex Hanes, about how I got treated, instead of trying to make it up and keep me as a future customer, he just said he was sorry and that my feedback will help him provide better service to other guest!!! Talk about NOT CARING AT ALL!! They not only lost me as a customer but also my 2 bosses as I will make sure they stay at a hotel that doesn't discriminate against minorities. A hotel that goes above and beyond ALL type of customers. Shame on you Sheraton!!
We had the best time would could in Maui during our free trip and had the chance to stay here. The grounds are clean and the staff is kind and attentive however the breakfast buffet we had each morning for a week was lacking. Only scrambled eggs, random potatoes, sausage that varied shape from day to day, assorted bread, and maybe a few pastries/fruit. It did the trick but you would think there would be more choices. The pool also felt like they were dumping ice in it lol we think they should re-rout some of the tiki torch gas to the pool heater. We felt bad for the kids that were playing in it as the ocean was warmer. Other than that most everything is expensive such as $5 soda with 1 free refill but you can expect thing to cost more on Maui. In all we probably would not stay here again.
They have free reef-safe sun block near the beach but that's about the only good thing I can say for it. Shady miscellaneous charges are added to your bill once you arrive. The hotel grounds and room are nothing to write home about. The prices are too high. Breakfast is $40 but I've had way better breakfast for free at a Drury Inn. Oh, also I'll give a +1 because they had a beyond burger at the beach bar. Of course the beach is beautiful, but Sheraton has nothing to do with the natural beauty of Hawaii. Go somewhere else. I expect better from Sheraton, and way better from any place that lists their rooms at $600/night plus adds extra fees once you show up. Go up the beach somewhere else.
This hotel is sub par at best. There was something wrong with the water when we stayed there. We should have realized it right away when we saw a family on the elevator with bottled water. Don't stay here. Your vacation is too important and short to spend it with a stomach ache.
Room was not acceptable. Toilet was plugged. Air conditioner did not work. Outside chairs had bird poop on them. Very disappointed for the price of the room.
Great grounds/pool area. We had breakfast and it was the best buffet I have ever had. No runny eggs, had an omelet and waffle station. Easy beach access and the staff was very nice.
Completely blown away that Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa is refusing to refund a one night stay that I booked and paid for. Not only did we have a serious family medical issue but they went as far as asking us to provide proof of this. We provided medical records and proof including diagnosis that is not exciting news to share. Instead of doing the right thing they notified me that they chose to deny our refund because the medical appointment was on the same day as the last day we could cancel with refund (7 days prior to our trip) I guess we should have cancelled that day even though we did not have the diagnosis until the following week. We had to cancel our vacation then, have a serious medical issue and then get the slap in the face that we don t get our money back.
We stayed here a few years ago and spent $5,000-$7000 and were planning on rebooking our trip to stay here for 2 weeks in the fall but the bad business we experienced this week when we should have been shown compassion ruined that. I won t be staying here again. I ll be happy spending our $10,000 somewhere else.
I booked an ocean view, but I upgraded to the oceanfront because there was no room, but it was on the first floor in the most corner of the hotel, and a room right next to the shared toilet and water purifier. I asked for a room change because I wanted a quiet room, so I didn't need an upgrade, but I only got a strange answer that my reservation was full. Thanks to that, I spent 3 days listening to the sound of entering and leaving the bathroom and the sound of the water purifier working. The mattress had a spring on the waist, and when I went out to the terrace, I could see a temporary massage bed wrapped next to it. I wondered if there was a room in this location. On the first and second days, the garbage and towels were not removed in front of the room. When I asked for a device to inflate the tube, it said to blow by mouth. It was the worst hotel. If I visit Maui again, I would consider using another hotel chain. Sheraton doesn't want to go again.
What a dump! The original buildings circa 1963 feature really cool architecture that with a pile of money for renovation could make the Sheraton Maui a stellar property. One can only hope that Marriott management realizes they have a diamond in the rough that with capital improvements in the rooms the addition of communal space with USB charging stations and a real Starbucks or local coffee offering could be turned into a millennial haven. I stayed here during a corporate event and I would never choose this property otherwise. The bed needs to be replaced with a higher quality mattress and one does wonder how many decades old the carpeting in the room is. Please rip out the wall to wall carpet and replace it with slip resistant Porcelain tile. Also please add a stall shower. The tub/shower combo is dated. Perhaps families with young children prefer a tub but Sheraton this also reflects upon the dated Sheraton brand. The breakfast buffet for $31 is overpriced. The dismal white rice and miso soup were the only nods to a Japanese breakfast. The omelet chef turned out orders quickly but nothing to rave about. The pool is not in the best shape and the tile in many places is worn away. I would love to see Marriott redevelop this property that puts it on par with the Montage up the road or the Andaz in Wailea.
Amazing in every sense of the word. We were upgraded upon arrival since we were staying for our honeymoon. The location doesn't get any better and everyone was extremely friendly and went out of their way to assist us. We will Definitely stay here again!
Decent place to stay at. Staff were nice. There was a drilling job going on above us so we complained and they moved us to an upgraded deluxe suite at no cost.
Will never stay here again!!! I should've stayed at the Hyatt, if you're choosing between the 2, don't stay here! I booked an oveanfront room, I got an oceanfrontroom with no view! Who does that?? They put us in what looks like a cave, no wonder there's only 4 rooms over there! I asked to be moved to room that would be like what I paid for, I'm still waiting, haven't been able to unpack and chill! I could have gotten the regular room at a much cheaper rate and it would be better than this!
We attended a luau and loved it! The show and food were the best! The staff was really nice and friendly, this will be a regular event whenever we come to Maui!
Rude checkin with no assistance to find our room, left to fend for yourself, no welcome drink or anywhere to sit down. Food in room service v expensive and not good quality. Room service on paper and plastic utensils , this is outrageous to charge for china and cutlery for a 5 star hotel. Toilet and shower at pool, beach- only two toilets and too close to lilos, and people queueing for one beach shower to rinse themselves, therefore pool full was full of sand and there was no regular cleaning. Li los old and need maintance or replacement, torn cabana tops, having to pay for beach li los and umbrellas and snorkel gear not acceptable for 5 star prices. Grass not mowed under cabanas and lilos too close together , not enough tables. Gardens v disappointing and dying except for palms. Closed lunch restaurant and makeshift lobby due to renovations should have allowed for reduced prices/ room rates. No cafe or coffee available after 10am. Never seen at an international hotel the absence of bottled water. Dont waste your money, go to Hyatt residence, so much nicer
More cleaning needed around pool and rest of property. They offer upgrades to your room that really do not add any extra value and tried to charge you for everything. Not coming back to this one
Just be aware that if you hire snorkel for the whole day they keep your credit card. they will not take the deposit off your card and give it back stupid a!.so if you need to use it you are out of luck . if you leave your drivers license in stead you can not go anywhere this so bad .make sure you have cash to leave a deposit . For me l don't like taking cash to the beach . When I did get my card back as I spoke to a supervisor . was told I could swap it out for an other card I was given some one else card to start with.before l have given my name. the hole system is wrong .
Really huge resort sits on 23 acres near beautiful BlackRock has a huge pool with a lazy river connecting different depths of pool and poolside bar and food good restaurants as well great for family's and couples.
Gorgeous resort on Black Rock for sweet, sweet snorkeling. Very walkable location. Biggest drawback is lack of eats but close enough to Whaling Village by foot or car. Tip: Bring some tip $ - valet parking is encouraged- which was a good experience for us as the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Things have certainly changed. Ants, trash, and cigarette butts everywhere. The bartenders are angry at guests. The pool attendants are lacking in customer service. This is a "Sheraton" but definitely lacks the "Sheraton" experience that it once had.
Sheraton is located at Black Rock. A great place for beach time. There are, of course, more luxorius hotels, but I give the five stars for value/quality.
It is good to be quiet and take a walk. The pool is wide and the sea is right in front. You can rent a towel with the towel exchange provided by the hotel. The restaurant was just like it did.
