I was staying at room 1513. The walking and chair moving noise came from above my floor was unbearable. I was told the supposed 1613 is a club lounge. Please put some carpet to minimize the noise!

Front desk team services were excellent as usual. Keep up the great work.

Noted improvement on the breakfast spread and choice. However, the replenishment of food can be managed better.

Room service was quick and the food quality has improved. Job well done to the team.

Dear Hotel Jen Penang,
I had enjoyed my stays in Hotel Jen Penang.
It was indeed a great experience.
The waiter and waitress working at the Club Lounge were friendly and attentively fulfil my needs.
However, there are some areas need to be improved.
Firstly, is the receptionist check in experience. Ms. Eja is a good staff, but for me its unfair for her to work in lounge and some other time at receptionist counter. Be specific on task and duty. Let her be in her expertise area. You can't put all the blames on the staff if there is any issues arise upon check in. Should you go investigate and restructure your management started from the top management team. They are the root of the good management example.
Secondly, i would appreciate if you are able to upgrade your swimming pool which looks so old and out dated i would say as compared to some other good hotels such as Four Points by Sheraton, St Giles Hotel etc.
Thirdly, i had a big problem to make a reservation via phone when they transferred me to the centralised booking. It pissed me off for few times. They were not being well trained and very poor on products and services. Please ease the customer by making a direct call to the hotel in order to make a less hassle booking experience.

Overall stay was great, with great hospitality especially the guys from Club lounge. Not only that, we got a surprise birthday cake for my birthday girl as well.

However, there were few hiccups:-
1. Check-in: The staff is polite & helpful but the problem is that most of the time I have to explain to her what type of room I'm booking, the room setting, number of adults + kids, with club lounge access, etc which I thought that should already be in the company's booking system? Otherwise what's the point of selecting those features during booking time?

2. We were staying in room 1708. It was a lovely room except for the malfunctioned aircon - unable to change the temperature setting and the room was very cold. Most of the time we can either turn on or just off the aircon. We have informed the reception about it but nothing has been rectified. The other room 1709 is perfectly fine.Imagine I have to turn the aircon off and on at the middle of the night, otherwise we will be freezing cold. In fact both me and my daughter catch cold because of that. Luckily it is just a 3D2N stay.

Absolutely loved my stay there. Excellent and professional staff. Very warm and friendly chats as they get their work done swiftly. The breakfast could be better, some of the items were not tasting ok. Rooms are well maintained and chick.

Updated old hotel, in a great location, downtown. Shopping mall next door, and close to the old town, Hotel Jen is perfect for exploring Georgetown.
When to need a break from the town, there is a shuttle bus available to take you to their sister hotel, the Golden Sands. Great for a relaxing afternoon by the pool or a little beach time. If they could add an extra shuttle trip in the evening, that would be perfect.

The staff at the front desk and restaurants were excellent. The only feedback I wanted to provide is the toilet doesn't flush well in this particular room I stayed. I have stayed at this hotel whenever I visit Penang and some of the rooms have similar problems. It may be due to the lack of build quality, consistency and possibly maintenance of the water system in the hotel. The mobile App for checking-in and out is not working since Sep 2019. I have told the front desk about this problem during my 2 recent stays and they suggested a fix by re-installing the App but the problem persisted.

Nice place for a family or newlyweds to have a vacation. Inside the building,they provides you with a good Service. Food also nice when you have a lunch or dinner time. Book first before you come because some of the day the place will be busy because a lot of company or family book for dinner and lunch time.

Excellent stay for business travellers. Right in the centre of the city. Easy access to the malls. Excellent customer service. The only complaint I have is the tiny bathroom, especially the shower. Other than that, all is well.

People were very kind and personable. It was obvio...

People were very kind and personable. It was obvious they wanted to help. That included Charles, who was at the reception desk; the staff in the dining room (for breakfast); the cleaning gentleman at the 8th floor (whose name I didn't catch, sorry)... Their smile spelled readiness to serve.

Pluses :
This comes with some bias as my church Camp Committee had made it triply excellent, manning the reception and managing the logistics.
1. Location
2. Cleanliness
3. Bedlinen were well tucked-in, neat and gives a refreshing freshness after a long day
4. Spaciouness
5. Acoustics - I can't hear the showering or hairdryer as loud as I have in others' hotel rooms..esp those in China.
6. Promptness in fixing my TV on time for my does of daily cable-news updates and...WorldCup !!
7. Amenities such as shampoo and conditioner..actually conditions. Others really stiffen my hair more than take care of it.
8. Housekeeping Knocking on door instead of barging in.
9. F&B Manager onsite to lend many hands.
10. The Indian gentleman whom I had asked to keep Justin informed as to when ALL rooms will be cookie-ed , and not just some (not that I had wanted them) because consistency matters and this IS a Shangri-la property. (I had worked in the HR/Training depts in 5-star hotels in Singapore).
11. Checking-out was arm and sincere.
12. The doorman saw that I was alone on Night1, trying to get supermarket stuffs and assured me of safety and showed me the location.

Potentials
1.The Projection Screen is WAY TOO HIGH for this size of ballroom. Please check with international standards as to the height in proportion to the furthest person from the screen and potentially the tallest person's height...etc.
2. Not sure if it cost too much for my church to pay for the clip-mike, but as a vivid all-arms-legs speaker myself, the mike was a great hindrance to his para-linguistics.
3. The food is NOT great for a Shangri-la/Traders. The nasi-lemak was very un-traditional and very salty :(
4. The shower knob fell off before my roommate could get to it haha. Very un-Shangrila, yes ? :)

But I DO recommend JEN to anyone who wants a great, comfortable, convenience place. And I do thank my CHURCH camp committee for great foresight catering to a very Peranakanish-foody church-community...and for the Church Leaders to have approved this as an enviable Camp accommodation.

KUDOS to all ! Please consistently share the "SHANG" stewardship and experience ! People around will have expectations for a Marriot, a Shang, a Ritz and a Conrad the world over. Especially as Singaporeans, where the recent June12-Summit held at our "Shang", was where President Trump put up.

But I know you will listen and you will act. SHANG-ers !

The Chicken Rice served from the Coffee House Level 1 during dinner time was not up to the standard, rice was blend without taste and the chicken served are all breast meat. Chilli served is just sweet and sour not to the normal standard that you can get from the hawker. The ginger served is not cooked with oil just the direct blended with water no taste except the ginger taste. Not worth the price paid.
During check out, the counter girl are slow in preparing the bill and not able to return the Credit Card deposit slip and brush it off that it had been sent out to the account department. How can the slip being sent out in advance when the bill hasn't been prepared?

Assalamualaikum. This is my first experience staying in Shangri-La Hotels. The room is marvellous but there was no water hose, perhaps you can consider it for Muslims. The food was great and I love the teh tarik. Those elevators are fast. Maybe you guys can add in cartoon channels in your cable subscription. Love the PressReader where I can read newspapers and magazine from around the world.

The Club Lounge provided us with very good spread of local delicacies during the evening cocktail. There were good wines , beers & plenty of alcohol beverages offered during the session.
The lounge executives were very helpful & they always service their guests with real passion & sincerity.
We were very happy with the prompt check in experience & satisfied with the attentive concierge services as well.
The breakfast served at the Coffee Garden were awesome. They offered wide spread of buffet ranging from local street food to fine western bakeries. Waiters & waitresses there were highly trained & efficient in handling the high turnover of the house guests.
It was really a very good experience to stay in Hotel Jen. Keep up with your good job.

Hotel Jen Penang by Shangri-la is located right at the center of the UNESCO world heritage site, Georgetown. It is a contemporary city hotel that allows the guest to unwind after a full day excursion at Georgetown. The hotel's facilities and room amenities are not comparable with other Shangri-la properties, but the bubbly and energetic staff made up for this. William and Katherine were pleasant with their interactions. They will go out of the way and their comfort zone to make the guest feels comfortable.

I remember, William handed me his own medicated oil, when I told him that I have twisted my ankle. Katherine making sure attractions were open before I visited them by making phone calls.

Overall, Hotel Jen is a friendly establishment, you know that familiar feeling that you have made some great friends for life, that is hotel Jen.

Wonderful staff at the reception. Very polite and knowledgeable in answering our queries. Rooms are clean and spacious. I would love to come back again...

However, upon arrival, my luggage was damaged as the concierge was talking to the driver and my luggage rolled out onto the road. It was damaged when it was picked up.

During departure day, we booked an Innova via the concierge but was assigned an exora. We have 5 people and 3 big luggage and 4 hand carry. It was very squeezy for us.

Check-in was smooth and fine despite the busy crowd at reception and the lobby.
Service at the lobby lounge, however, was poor as the trainee at the counter was unable to take an order and serve coffee at 4pm. She had to ask for help from the regular staff who were not around. It reflects badly on the frontline service staff in the hotel who were not around and left an inexperienced employee in uniform in charge..

thank you for arranging honeymoon amenities for me and husband. the cake was superb. i was so happy with the front desk officer. and also the clearer. they are so friendly. the breakfast was also nice even thought they were not many choice because of the RMO. the only thing is the dustbin are not together with the plastic make me think twice before trowing any leftover or waste, thank you.

I went to the club lounge with my colleagues on 25...

I went to the club lounge with my colleagues on 25 April 2018. One of your staff overturned a wine glass containing red wine accidentally when cleaning the table and this stained my pants and long sleeve shirt. The duty manager at the club lounge did not apologize to me and did not offer to provide me a free shirt laundry in this case.

I certainly hope you will handle such incident better going forward.

First time staying in Hotel Jen Penang as I usually stay elsewhere. I like the hotel deco. Room is elegantly furnished. But there is always loud noise (not sure if it is the water pressure) from the toilet.
