Good feedback:
1)We made reservations for the wrong dates (check in Aug 22 instead of July 31) but the front desk was able to transfer the monies paid for the Aug 22 night to our current stay. We appreciated that.

Poor feedback:
1) blue towels given out to guests in the gym were worn out with patches of discoloration showing how old they were.
Please use white towels instead.
It's very unappealing and unhygienic looking

2) on check out on August 3rd at around 8.45am, there was ONLY ONE staff at the reception counter.
That is a regular working hour, how is it possible to have only ONE staff manning the counter

Clean room, excellent location, fast lifts and attractive lobby area. However not a very personal experience, quite business-like approach. Had to queue for check in and check out. Limited information given when asked about how to access nearby sights & no visitor information leaflets given. Average experience overall.

I enjoyed the stay at Hotel Jen, the interior was so cool, and its clean and comfortable. It is so convenient that the hotel can provide money exchange service where the rate is not higher than in the mall. It would be great if I can have the massage menu in my room as now seems the massage service is separate from the hotel service, and I'm not sure if we can do massage inside our room. and the breakfast buffet was just soso, but overall this is a nice place to stay!

Hi,
I already done full payment through expedia website on May 2018, but when we check out on 28/12/2018, we need to pay extra SST.
Why????????
I already made a report to Jabatan Kastam Malaysia.
Wait for their actions.
Not gonna repeat to stay again.
Plus the receipt from Expedia more expensive than hotel receipt. Extra RM1++.

We had a quick and pleasant check in experience. The room was new, clean and comfortable. The concierge, restaurant, housekeeping staff and doormen were very helpful and cheerful (especially the 3 lady staff from the restaurant!) when we asked for directions. The location is central and near to so many eateries and shopping malls. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and we would book Hotel Jen again the next time we go to Penang! Thumbs up to Hotel Jen!

I really enjoy coming back to your hotel. Service is excellent. I enjoyed the service rendered on the 16th Club room floor. Room is clean but like all hotel rooms, it can get dusty at times. Bed is really comfortable. Would be good to have fruits more regularly at the club lounge. Cookies are great. Snacks served at 530 to 730. Would be good if it ends at 830 when guests return from their dinner. Hang around at the lounge to chill.

I arrived in the morning when there's less than 3 ...

I arrived in the morning when there's less than 3 guests in the entire reception. And the staff told me to wait at the last line for check in.

Then, 10mins later, I see her help another impatient couple to check in.

What's the consistency here in the hotel?

Besides, checking in each person takes ~10mins. Please make sure your elders and kids are well seated.

Also, not to mention the renovation. Practically there's no lobby, no quiet space for breakfast etc.

Even though the renovation might fix the appearance of the hotel, the service is a thumb down guaranteed.

Staying at Jen Hotel Penang has always been a pleasure. Your awesome staffs always make sure we feel like a VIP other and feeling like we are home (2nd home). I truly have never seen outstanding personnels that is on par with Jen Hotel Penang. Special thanks to Ms Wendy and Ms Katherine for making me and all the visitors feel so, so special.

Best experiance so far by Hotel Jen . Awesome team work. The Food was great Too... Overall, it was a great event and I will choose Hotel Jen for any upcoming function. Surely I will recommend Ho Jen to others. Great Job!

Very nice hotel. Rooms can use some renovations but all around comfortable experience. Hotel provides free shuttle bus to Batu Feringghi sister hotel...take advantage of it. The Breakfast buffet is the best thing about this hotel and absolutely worth every penny. You will not be disappointed by the variety and service. Fresh juices blended at your request!!! Highly recommend it.

I would give 6 stars to Hotel Jen for their all time courteous, friendly and helpful staff, strategic location, large rooms.
We have enjoyed our 2 nites stay in the deluxe king room
I would highly recommend Hotel Jen to anyone visiting Penang.

A part of the bed comforter was with *saliva smell*. It was completely repulsive. We only found out when we went to sleep the first night, which was already too late to call for house keeping to change it.

We went to the front desk to tell of the problem the next morning. The front desk female officer (if not mistaken, her name was Shalini) was very apologetic and assured us it would be changed. And it was. For that, we are appreciative.

Recently renovated to stay relevant and be competent against competitors like Wembley's. The newly renovated lobby has a peranakan feel and it gives a comfortable ambience to it. The cafe at the lobby is affordable with snacks like sandwiches and wraps for RM10-12. With drinks priced at RM10-15. Generally very good experience. There's also a hair salon there which is the best in town with haircuts at around RM60-70

Your royalty programs are as attractive, especially for those regular guests who frequently stay at your hotel.

The Astro channels are limited, especially the news channels. Further, the reception of the picture quality for the current channels is not very clear.

Reception is pretty helpful. However, there was a lack of one teaspoon in the room and we requested it with some other cutleries upon venturing out. When we returned at night, the requests were not there, housekeeping can be improved.

Excellent & efficient customer service throughout ...

Excellent & efficient customer service throughout our stay. Hotel location is also strategic and easy access to places to visit in Penang. One area to improve on is the resident s parking area at basement. I thought the parking machine should be positioned lower for easy ticket retrieval (entry) and insertion (exit) for sedan sized cars.

We call in for inquiring twin single beds room. CS told us twin single beds room available. Reach to hotel, check in & double confirm with front desk for twin single beds room. When reach to our room 930, there is only 1 Queen size bed. Call front desk to change room & we were inform that the hotel is full house. Imagine 2 guys sleeping on a bed? I totally can't sleep that night.

Very enjoyable stay and amazing service. But the following can be improved to make the stay excellent;
- More dustbins in the Malaysia Suite (in the pantry, living room, study etc.)
- Suite pantry has no soap
- No place to put soiled towels in the toilets
- Many staff members did not recognise club guests (especially when staying in the largest suite). Apart from a handful of club staff many staff members did not recognise the guests and kept asking for the room number including in the club - not the standard at a Shangri La/Jen
- Master bathroom in the suite had a malfunctioning lock and a broken bidet
- Evening turndown on request

i have a very good experience during my stay. The room is comfortable and hotel staff is very polite. The car park access to lobby should have the lift for easy access. I only realize this when i park my car with 2 baby stroller. It is very troublesome

Low-end hotel by Shangri-la. Room is comfortable. Shower experience is bad. Breakfast quality is good but very limited choices. My only concern is, train your staff of the restaurant stop talking out loud like a wet market. Pay attention to your guests and stop chatting.

1) We paid 120 pax for the event, but the food was...

1) We paid 120 pax for the event, but the food was not constantly being replenished and thus, there was not enough food being served to the guests (especially during the lunch hours). Some of the dishes were left with 1 or 2 pieces and we had to share the food portion with our distinguished guests which is a very disgraceful experience for an organiser. With the pax we signed up for, there should be 2 tables lined up with the same food for breakfast, tea breaks and lunch. Moreso, the guests headcount was lower than the pax we paid for! The remaining food was not accountable for, nor we have seen the remaining portion.

2) The food served for the tea breaks were generally not fresh.
- The cream puffs were not fresh. There was literally no crisp texture and very little cream filling. They looked more like custard puffs and taste very sweet.
- The croissant was served cold and had a very soft texture. The ham croissant doesn't taste fresh.
- Tea were too dilluted.
- The menu stated BBQ chicken, but we were served with food with presentation and taste like spicy rendang chicken.

3) The supervisor and staff serving the food and drinks should be around to assist with the replenishment and serving of guests.

Overall, the experience was not up to our minimum expectation.

i enjoy my stay there very much. I've previous been to Hotel Jen at Penang when it just took over the old hotel. This time back i saw many areas that were given fresh renovation. Well done.
However, for the gym, the aircon was really warm when working out in the afternoon and the yoga room aircon was also not working.
