I ve a late meeting on check out day, thanks to your front desk folks Ms Katherine & Mr Calvin to extend my check out to 4pm, thumbs up for their excellent service & understanding. Concierge staff were great too, very friendly & helpful.

It s always great to be back hotel Jen Penang. Too bad that stays are always short & rush. Whenever I am back in Penang either for work or leisure, you will definitely see my name in your check-in list, cheers.

The front counter staffs were unable to explain clearly where we can get local food. However I was impress by a chinese front desk staff on my last day , she explained to another guest step by step on local attraction. Our stay will be prefect if we have met this chinese staff on the first day.

Great Hotel to stay in Penang, free shuttle service to their partner resort Golden Sands, next to one of the best Malls in Penang, literally in the middle of the inter section that can take you everywhere in the island, newly renovated, nice outdoor pool and finally kind staff that did their best and took the extra mile to service the guests and help them around.

Next time I will be staying with Jen hotel for sure.

One problem that they need to address is the noise isolation in walls and doors (you can hear your neighbors and people talking in the corridors ).

*Note: if I were to talk about more good stuff, it's going to be an essay .

Dear Hotel Jen,

Dear Hotel Jen,

Thank you for your lovely rooms! We really had restful nights during our stay. My friends and i stayed in rooms 810 and 811 on 20 - 22 July 2018.
However, your counter service really needs to improve.
1. Made a request to your staff to prepare something special for my friends as they were celebrating their 10th year wedding anniversary. Made my request on 19 July to your counter staff. That staff agreed to arrange a cake. Repeated my request during check-in and again your staff confirmed that it is noted. However, arrangement never materialized.
2. During Check-out, your counter staff checked out room 819 instead of 810. Had we not asked for a receipt, we would not have known that the wrong room was checked out.
3. Wait time during check-out was also very long.

Hope you can look into this to improve on our overall experience.

Thanks once again for the lovely rooms.

This service is good though the parking capacity is very limited for a hotel of this size. The room is sizeable though for being a business hotel, there should be more cable channels on sports and business news

My overall feeling on the hotel service quality level is very consistent and at a very high standard. 1) At the reception your staff Nacheya and trainee Sharon both demonstrate their professional service attitude. I was quite surprised when Nacheya called me Mr Ho on the 2nd day after I checked in the hotel as she met numerous customers everyday. The team at concierge was also very helpful, we were the 1st time to Penang and did not know much about the direction and location of famous places. When we asked them how to get there, your team was patient enough to tell us how to get there and by which means of transportation. I highly appreciate your quality staff team!

superb location. central bus stops to all corners of island within 2 mins walking distance. Express Bus services to KL and other MY destinations also there. Thermostat in room functioned well. Avoid rooms lower floors 1-7 if they overlook Dinosaur World theme park next door: rumbling sounds all day from trolleys. Otherwise, great breakfast, clean large rooms, comfy beds and friendly staff. No shaver in the room
Is Jen hotel so stingy that you cannot even leave a single pen ans envelope in the room? I need a pen to write and I need to go to the shopping centre next door to buy!
And I am staying in club floor!!

A pleasant surprise! Great value for money! The hotel is centrally locates at the heart of George Town and within walking distance to many sites and facilities; the fact it is affiliated with Golden Sands brings addition benefit and we had the pleasure of enjoying the facilities free of charge! A great experience

Waited for more then 3 hours before room was ready at about 3.15pm and I did called to said that I will arrive early.
Check-in, was told room not ready and will inform me when ready as I sat on the lobby. walk over at 3.15pm and was told room was ready.
Upset as the room is ready much earlier and no staff informed me.
Bad experience and I would think Jen should at least offer me a drink while waiting for my room.

Can't really comment. It was just a drop off point for the shuttle bus service from Golden Sands Resort. However, it did look nice and clean. In the heart of Georgetown and heaps of shopping plaza's around. It's part of the Shangri-La family, so must be Ok. It's the newer one of the 3 for Shangri-La in Penang.

(1) I booked the hotel a month or so ago and made specific requests for a king bed in one room and twin in another. When we checked in the first room, the lady at the counter said she would reserve the room with the king bed because I was arriving later.
When I arrived, I was told that there was none. It was quite a waste of time on my requests when it was not going to be entertained at all.

(2) We then asked for a late check out till 3pm but we only got it for one room. As a result, we couldnt even freshen up before we left for the airport.

(3) It was a raining day and we asked for umbrellas to get across the road, the guy at the counter said, "no more". I went for lunch and because i was not allowed a late check out, i had to run back to check out. It was raining quite heavily and i tried again to ask for an umbrella and this time, the indian guy at the concierge went into the room and found me two umbrellas.

It's by Shangri-La. So, what do you expect?

Great lobby. Great room. Staffs are nice. Especially the bellboys, because we came by group, so u know, we've a lot of bags to transport to each room. And they're really patience with us.

Sadly we only use this hotel only for sleep and repacking before we went home. Yeah, I know. This hotel only for transit hotel. You can feel how sad am I. Hopefully I can come back and got more experience in this hotel.

I didn't even have any chance to took photos for this beautiful hotel.

Staff are amazing, smiles everywhere at lobby and restuarant. Any request made over the phone always have a follow up call ensuring is being promptly attended to. First of a kind i have experienced. Room are clean and well kept. Only complain will be the limited choices of tv programmes. Missed world cup matches as no Live telecast

Gym is pretty good, even better than some 5 star hotel gyms. Club lounge food was meh. Room was good for sleeping but very simple. Neighborhood was a bit scary for me. This hotel is better than most Jen Hotels. I guess this hotel used to be Trader's Hotel but was downgraded to Jen.

I stayed over a 3 day-2 night long weekend trip over the Awal Muharram break in August of 2020.

My parents and I shared a club-suite floor room on Level 17, courtesy of a promotion. The ambience of both the room and the lobby was modern, humble, and slightly artistic with very intriguing shaped furniture and overhanging lights. I slept on a double-single sofa bed that was very comfortable. I would have thought it was originally a bed if I had evaluated it solely based on how it felt when I was lying on it. The only downside to the room was that it lacked sufficient necessities for 3-persons, eg. we were only provided 2 toothbrushes although there were 3 persons in the room. We had to call to request for items but this was a small matter.

A key benefit of the Club Floor was you got easy daily access from 9AM-9PM to a variety of beverages, snacks, and alcohol in the later evening for free at the lobby cafe! My parents and I really enjoyed it. Nothing quite like ordering mango juice, wine, and having a lovely platter of char kuay teow on a cloudy day. The only downside to the supply of F&B is that the breakfast variety at the hotel was limited (though sufficient). Food available includes: nasi lemak, porridge, mee hoon soup noodle, dim sum, dumplings, hash brown, egg, sausages, mushroom, 2 types of bread pastry with butter and jam, 3 types of cereal, roti canai with only dhal as a side, fried rice, curry chicken, sauteed vegetables. It lacks the typical hotel platter that includes cheeses, cold meats, desserts.

Located in the heart of Georgetown city, a lot of the key sights and eateries are within a 30-minute walking distance from the hotel. My parents and I easily walked along Kimberly Rd, the Armenian St (where the graffiti art was at) and even to the Jetty esplanade (where we got to take a peek at the retail Chew Jetty). When it rains, you can even borrow cute-vibrant colored umbrellas to use (we got a turqoise and pink one)!

However, the most outstanding element of this hotel is it's SERVICE. The service levels were exceptional, with adaptable and friendly staff working in all areas of the hotel. One moment a person is at the counter checking your family in, and the next day, they are at the cafe serving you by name (albeit with no reference to look at to know who you are)!

A nice modern hotel in Georgetown. Staff were nice but the check in/out process could be faster. It just seemed to take a bit longer than comparable places. Lay out is modern. Room was nice, but there was an extra pullout bed in there (unrequested) taking up space. Breakfast was OK. Missing a few things (couldn't find yogurt). But you will either love or hate the location. Downtown Georgetown is a traffic nightmare. The hotel was hosting an obnoxious tourist group and the lobby was a near riot of loud, uncontrollable fools.

Take the good with the bad.

Great value for money, pretty nice after renovation, pretty fair price for beer during happy hour, only pity is it has only Tiger. Service is great, buffet breakfast is pretty decent, room is very clean, very comfortable bed and pillows, after all this is Shangri-la!

Stay overnight in this hotel. It was a very lovely experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet have a very wide spread and delicious local food. Location is superb, right next to Prangin Mall and middle of town. They also provide shuttle service to Golden Sands Resort, their sister hotel for guest to enjoy the beach and pool. (Skip this Hotel Jen small pool)

Jen hotel - surprise surprise !

Jen hotel - surprise surprise !
Never believe it is at such a good location for everything we need in Penang ( for the very reasonable price we paid ). Grab is so so easy too , when we preferred to go further by car .
From checking in to check out -- all perfect !

My stay at Hotel Jen could be summed up with one word: Exceptional. Its location is one of a kind indeed, located just beside a shopping mall and behind the bus terminal. The facilities are pretty good and I think its value for money is marvelous considering that there are a lot of properties charging for around the same amount of money but offering worse experience than Hotel Jen. However, I think it's nice to see the locker room inside the fitness center being upgraded. Other than that, everything was just perfect. My disappointment is that I did not book it for my subsequent nights in Penang!

1. I had always wanted to use the pool but the pool closes at 8pm. There isn't much time after work and dinner for a relaxation at the pool. This is a pity.
2. I had to wait in queue for 20mins to check in to the hotel. I would rate this the longest waiting time I've experienced in all the hotel I've been.

As usual, Hotel Jen does not disappoint. Really like the decor and feel of the place. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious and you can tell that a lot of thought has been put into the design of the furniture. Totally enjoyed my stay and would be back again!

Friendly staffs and clean and nice rooms. Good hotel location, as behind hotel is the Pargin Mall, on the right is 1st Avenue Mall, on the left is the famous Komtar with the bus terminal under it. Bus terminal has buses to Kek Loi Si Temple, Penang Hill, Batu Ferring and other places of interest. Within walking distance to Chowrasta Market, Ban Heang Biscuits, Chinatown, Penang Street Art, Penang Famous Teochew Chendol, Assam Laska and many more.

Good location and service. However, the lift waiting time from guest floor to other floor take long time. The waiting time can be as long as 3 to 5 min.
Yet no problem to get the lift up from the lobby. Please look into this issue.
