Very beautiful from the outside. Only a replica now that the original burned down, but the new one is made from the original blueprints and with the same material and ways of construction that they used back then. It's a standing theatre and the prices are very cheap! Though it's 3-4 hours of standing up!

A really enjoyable theatre experience on the banks of the Thames. The Globe is certainly attracting a diverse audience and whether it's the work of the great bard, the reasonable ticket prices or the novelty of the wooden theatre, everyone seems to have a great time.

Literally a realistic place and the tour guide gives very great and specific information and also has some funny jokes to entertain you. The actors are funny when they are warming up, hope someone gets a recording of their warm up.

The best surprise gift I received from my son, a resident of London. The theater is a reconstruction of the original. We watched a night sight, 3:15 pm, with a small interval of 15 minutes. Tickets are cheaper, but only recommend for young people and the gallery prices vary according to the arrangement and proximity of the stage. The seats are solid wooden benches, so there are rental pillows and blankets, is very cold, it was because in September. Although not dominate, advance buy the program and could reasonably understand the show. It was very exciting, I was very, very happy with this return to the XVII century. Unmissable.

We saw As you Like it at an evening performance after an afternoon of thunderstorms and torrential rain. The performance was excellent and the atmosphere generated by the old Elizabethan theatre layout was really close. The benches are exceedingly hard and the cushion hire is certainly a must. Blankets are also available. Drinks and food can be bought from the stalls in the theatre grounds. We were warm enough with fleece and jacket and long trousers but I wouldn't risk smart theatre attire. Standing area seems to accept last minute admissions.

I visit the Globe every summer and have yet to find a performance that I'm disappointed with. The setting is stunning, and adds to the theatrical experience. I recommend hiring a cushion if you have a seat. It does get hot in the afternoon sunshine, so make sure you're prepared, especially if you're a groundling.

One of London's most famous landmarks - a faithful recreation of the original building that stood here in Will's time - some of the world's most talented actors perform thought a busy open air season.

A big bonus, you can take you own booze in!

3 story Elizabethan building in the 'black and white' style in a semi circle with the stage towards the front seated tiers are roofed in with thatch but the standing area isn't so if it rains you get wet. The seats are wooden and narrow as they would have been during Shakespeare's time so my advice is to rent a cushion from the theatre as you'll be sitting for around 3 hours. There's a cafe and bar area on the terrace and in the foyer. But all of this is secondary to the actual plays. Go for the atmosphere and the acting.

Despite his cold name, Tim Frost gave us a warm welcome and an enthusiastic tour. Either the man's a great actor or he truly loves his job (and 'his' globe), and that's what made the walkaround even better.

A fantastic experience to see Shakespeare's plays in the environment that they would have been performed in originally. Rent a cushion, for a pound, as the wooden seats are hard. A joyous performance of 'much ado about nothing' with an enthusiastic company and audience made for a great afternoon.

A terrible disappointment in the land of Shakespea...

A terrible disappointment in the land of Shakespeare's birth on 5/27. When it becomes a massive exercise in will-power to suspend disbelief, it ruins the play. Tourists would be wise to spend their theatre money on production companies which are trying to be entertaining instead of re-writing society.

The staff was great, the venue was great, but As You Like It was terrible. The tallest male actor was Rosalind, a pretty short female was Orlando, and a deaf-mute played Celia. The script & direction were significantly butchered in the name of PC equal opportunity. Some of the rest of the cast were pretty good actors, but the reality disconnects were so extreme as to waste their efforts.

Get a clue Shakespeareans: the Bard didn't use pre-pubescent males as females as a a matter of choice and citing this practice as a rationale for voluntary gender-bending today is lunacy. Nor do I recall him employing actors whose only means of communication are a subset of BSL and hamming it up in compensation. I'll also point out that when signing actors are facing away from any part of the audience, that part of the audience has no clue what is being signed, assuming they can read signing (ha!).

If you live for a good Shakespearean play, get tickets to the Globe.

Be aware that the London Pass will get you a tour, but you will need to go on the Globe's website for actual tickets to a show.

Some tips before you buy.

The best seats are the second or third levels. You get to see everything.

The seats are wooden, so get the cushion. It helps because the play is long. Plus, it's only $4 more for the cushion.

There is a standing section, which means you must stand the whole time. They will allow those who are standing to sit on the floor during the intermission only.

Very personable guide, exquisitely re-created space, gave a great idea of what the globe was like. Nice museum and gift shop. Would have loved to see a performance there. Well worth the visit.

We saw Wassail, a feast of comedy and song, two hours of delight. It was cold but the mulled wine and blankets soon had us toasty. We sang along with the carols and cheered or booed like in a pantomime, heat fun. Felt sorry for the people in the pit as it poured down the whole time. Nonetheless they sang and conga-ed around in high spirits. Excellent afternoon Xmas treat.

This review is based on experience with a Sam Wanamaker Playhouse production: fantastic alternative when the season for open-air Globe Theatre has not begun yet. Sunday performances make this a great alternative when other popular performances (ex. musicals) are not available. This theatre is purely candlelit, thus bear in mind that there will be a minor bit of smoke possibly causing dry eyes for those seated upstairs.

Went on the tour to find out that this is not the original theatre and Shakespeare never actually performed here. In fact when the original theatre was destroyed in a fire they never had any drawings or photos so they don't really know what the original theatre looked like. Still quite beautiful. Would love to see a play there though. This theatre was built in 1998.

For fans of theater, history, literature, Shakespeare, of course this is a "must-see" and expensive ticket. Explanation tour (English only, go prepared) about Shakespeare's theater and history. That is not the original locak, because the first theater was destroyed by a fire. We sat in various parts of the audience, but I really wanted to have stepped on the sacred stage, which is not the case on the tour.

I havent been to a performance yet but i hope its a better experience than the extremely unhelpful man at the box office yesterday. He made me wait 15 minutes until the Box office was 'open' despite the fact he sat there the whole time and then was extremely unhelpful when I asked about ticket availability. I resorted to using my good old Iphone and went online to find available tickets and performances.

First of all, anyone who can't stand still for 2h shouldn't take a standing place, invest some pounds into seating. It really stresses your legs, cause you can't move, only in the break which isn't that long.
The act was kinda okay, I didn't liked the fact, that there were paid visitors to laugh at any given time, felt like a Sitcom. The jokes were pretty dull, like it or not, I did not.
Wouldn't go again.
At least you were allowed to bring in own food and drinks.

Historical place, faithful reconstruction of the theater in which Shakespeare set many staging of his works, typically Victorian theater with the whole external part still functioning today as a theater, there are many evidences of the works of the aforementioned artist. Moreover, in order to make the structure work even in the cold season, a real theater has been added under the overlying theater. Fantastic guide, inside there is also the historical museum.

I LOVED watching one of the performances at the globe, even though I could not understand any of what they were saying it was still entertaining to watch and enjoy the ambiance of the whole area. They also have a really nice restaurant next to the globe, (It is really actually connected to the globe) where you can sit down and enjoy a beautiful view of London. And by the way it has a great gift shop

Love it .. love it! Walkthrough back to the past on the remake theater back to Shakespeare's era. I went for the tour that will take you to the museum (history and journey of the remake including the props), theater, and we got to see the actors rehearsed. Our guide was very passionate and love how she explained the details things about not just theater but also Shakespeare history. Located in the bank of thames river with train access in london bridge area, me and spouse love our afternoon walk and culinary in many traditional stalls at borough market
