The tram tour is worst if you dont buy membership. We dint know about this and had to stand in the queue for 2 hours. And the boarding system between members/general is pretty messy.
JSC, Still the world space frontier after all these years!
It seems fascinating to me, I'll meet tomorrow, at the moment I'm in TEXAS in Palestine, 160 km, distance or 3 hours by car. My dream to know.
Space Center Houston is way too much like a Disney amusement park. Not surprising when you realize that Walt Disney Imagineering was involved in the park's creation. If you're going to go to see a serious exhibit, you go to the Alabama Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. Alabama Space and Rocket Center is head and shoulders superior to Space Center Houston. I was quite disappointed.
Nice Place for Kids to Enjoy. You need full day to enjoy whole place. Lots of events are happening inside make sure you plan accordingly.
They periodically have special days that are full of special events. We were there for homeschool day. We also go there when family visits us from out of state. Pick up the schedule of shows for the day when you first arrive. And head to the tram ride first thing. Later in the day there can be long lines. If you can't do the tram ride you can still go to rocket park after playing at the main space center by driving to security, telling them you want to stop at Rocket Park. The security will wave you into the tiny parking lot and then you can walk the rocket park grounds without doing the tram.
Very disappointing. The only worthwhile exhibit was the Saturn V rocket. Now, that's amazing!! But not really worth the $23 entrance fee plus $6 parking fee. The tram tour we took was so lame except that's the only way you can get to the Saturn V.
No trip to Houston is complete without a visit to the Space Center. Very well laid out, informative, exciting and worth the entry ticket price. You can easily spend 6-7 hours here. They have something for everyone, young and senior, fun and engaging. If you have limited time, make it a point to see the Starship Gallery, Discovery Plaza, Rocket Center, Mission Control and Astronauts Training Center. If you re visiting in December you absolutely must visit the Neutral Bouyancy Lab. The NBL is an enormous underwater training system for astronauts to feel as close to zero gravity as possible.
I'm a pilot and super into aviation and the NASA space center has always been cool for me so I was excited to bring my kids, however the tickets are really expensive for what you get. it's like youre going in to play 20 year old video games, half the stuff is broken outdated doesn't work well and just overall dingy. The history and education is fun but they could take some time to upgrade all of their interactive elements, there simply is no reason for the "lameness" and outdated interactive activities. the cafeteria food was okay, we were disappointed to see no vegetarian or green salad options, additionally I was perplexed at the lack of sustainability in their food items as well as their containers.
I boarded on the tram tour and I was riding in circles out in the heat for about 20 minutes to learn that my tour was postponed. Then after waiting another 30 minutes I learnt that it is cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. No refunds given, I have not had a chance to speak to an adult staff member either. For reference I took a picture of the weather, 1 hour after my 1 hour tour was cancelled. It was a disappointment to take my family there. 15 min exhibition and a bunch of selfie machines is not enough to justify the $30 per person entry fee. Poor experience and unqualified staff dont make it any better.
Most intresting place on the globe. Got to know much about space and experienced a rocket launch. Everthing was great. The food was awsome.
"My battries are low, its getting dark"
I was only supposed to last 90 days.
Instead, me, this hardy little robot lasted FIFTEEN YEARS.
Fifteen years of science and exploration.
I was finally lost to a dust storm, so, as humans (who will pack bond with anything) do, wish me sweet dreams and thanks for all the science.
Before writing a word, I have to admit a love for all things NASA & space exploration. Some comments here relegate LBJ to a 'kids only' attraction. That's fair enough...but I 'd bet the adults who quickly write the Center off were not willing or able to revive their sense of wonder. Yes, the place could do with a revamp but that's not likely, given that NASA operates on a shoestring. Even so, I'm sure that if you allow yourself to absorb the sheer brilliance of mind & will and spirit of adventure that put humans into space, you'll soon realize that to visit NASA/JSC is a visit to a place of legend.
Very nice place. Any and all age group will enjoy. The staff is very courteous as well!
Hi,
Me an two other people had a level 9 tour today that ended at 5pm. We then had plans to spend some time in the main visitors Center. We were disappointed when we were told to exit the building after our tour was over. We were told that there was a private event and the Center was now closed. Why were we not told this when booking the tour? I would have booked it for another day.
We were not able to do anything other than the tour and completely missed out on the 400 things to do at Space Center Houston . The tour was ok but not worth the price alone without access to the visitors centre.
Do not come during spring break unless you like to wait 3 hours in line for a stupid tour and 30 min in line for everything else.
This place has terrible organization. It appears a bunch of teenagers is running the tour system. Most of the "guides" were in their early 20's, with some being more mature. The trams would arrive, people would file onto the seats and then the tram would set/wait for 10-15 minutes before leaving. I suppose they were waiting in order to maintain separation from the previous tram, but their process stinks. Then our guide spent a good portion telling people to "move along" or "be quiet". When I questioned him about being told to move and not being able to take photos, he said, "I have 105 people and we need to keep moving." I told him they should make the groups smaller and he said that wasn't possible. It appears the Center just wants to make money, not provide a successful tour. Most of the "stuff" in the museum is geared toward children, which is ok, but not much for an adult to do. Viewing the shuttle and the 747 was good.
Best place for the people who likes NASA, Rockets and Space Travel. This place will give you a great idea of the space explorations implemented by USA. Ticket prices quite expensive but worth the visit.
Interesting exhibition, nice tram tour, cool souvenir shop
good place to spend an afternoon or even a whole day
Great place for the kids we make the 6 hour drive every year & never disappointed ! It really is a great program for all ages !!
Already ages ago we looked up to the stars and wondered what was there. Thanks to NASA and co. We are getting closer and closer to learning more about the Galaxy as well as ourselves. Space, in my opinion, is the future and we should invest more taxes in exploration.
TLDR; the stars are the future!
If you are going to be in Houston, there is no way you should miss taking a tour of NASA. Absolutly amazing! Great place to visit, very informative tours guides, lots of amazing things to see. Including some mock ups of the rovers and other awesome inventions.
Lol, the only thing you will NOT see her, is an actual Moon Rock! They took those off display for some reason. If you would like to see a Moon Rock you could always head over to Annapolis in DC, they have one on display at their Navel Academy.
Phenomenal experience. Very educational trip for kids of all ages. Plus you get to touch a real moon rock.
Great place to tour to learn about how space is the next frontier for exploration of the universe's natural elements.
Here you can see rockets, satellites and the early command room, which is definitely a place for space fans.
We are a stem class and for a field trip we we're going to NASA and it was amazing
I am not up-to-date with what s going in the Space program. But I found the whole center so interesting, hearing from the first mission, to our failures, to the climate of what was going on in the nation, there were so much to learn and so much to appreciate in our history. The shop was huge and a lot items to buy. The tour was amazing and it gave me appreciation for all those who work there, who are pushing the advancement of the space program. This is amazing to come to you no matter what age you are, and I advise everyone to come visit!
Good place to visit if you are interested in space science.
A messy place ... no real information. I went there hoping to see the stories of the chalenger and the Apollo missions, but it seems that they are ashamed to talk about it ... it is worth taking the kids to spend a few hours with toys there, but for those who really want to know the missions and NASA stories, I recommend not spending your money.
Worst experience ever. Spend 3 hours of waiting in tram line. Such a crowdy place. Unskilled staff with bad attitude makes this experience even worse
There were three tours.I went on the one to the astronauts training facility our tour guide was great.Compared to how many people there were the waiting time was not that long because the buses arrive pretty quickly
Very worthwhile. Not quite as nice as in Florida but still very worthwhile. Much to try and mission control is very interesting!
My family of three visited the Johnson Space Center and budgeted five hours for our visit after paying about $100 for our tickets. Unfortunately, we had to spend over two hours standing in line for the tram ride in order to see the facility's campus. Staff was extremely lackadaisical in helping the visitors derive anything out of the experience. The line moved extremely slowly, and no one seemed to care except the tourists who had already paid up. Once we got to the mock-up facility there would have been many opportunities to explain the purpose of all the equipment on display; however, tour guides herded us along the platform with nary an explanation leaving us to wonder what it all meant. During the ride of the campus the tram driver provided much dialogue regarding our surroundings. Unfortunately, we were unable to hear most of it due to the droning of the tram motor. Having visited many attractions all over the world, I would rate this as one of the worst. I left feeling as though all the NASA Johnson Space Center cared about was shaking us down for $100.
I was extremely excited to visit, and man were my hopes crushed. The parking was a nightmare, but once you get inside it gets worse. There were so many people that you can barely move inside this place. The tram wait was well over two hours, and the wait to visit the shuttle wasn t much shorter. The rest of the exhibits on display are outdated and honestly not all that interesting. The moon rock exhibit might have been interesting but the room was so full of people you couldn t even see the displays. I am disappointed that this is what the public face of NASA is.
TLDR
Too many people, not worth $35 a head. Buy yourself a nice dinner and watch a space documentary- you ll get more out of it.
Had a great time learning about America's history in space. The tour guide was knowledgeable and threw in light humor.
Got myself a nice coffee mug. Recomend going early before there's a large crowd.
We just came back from a "Camp-in" experience at the space center. I can't say enough about the experience. That staff was amazing, caring, understanding and hard working. They tried hard to accommodate everyones needs. Carl is wonderful at hos job and should be commended for a great event. We went with our lego group and are foing back with our Trail Life group and can not wait. THANKS from Pop Pop Popcorn!
Long lines. Pick what you want to do/see then be prepared to stand for a very long time. You d think NASA could figure this out, but perhaps it s not rocket science so...NOT worth the price of admission. Other museums such as the Perot and Dallas are much more worthy of your dime.
Worth the visit. Go early as it is not that crowded. Lots of things to do and see. Don t miss the tram that will bring you behind Johnson Space Center. Apollo 13 is behind the main building and only accessible by the tram. Lots of history from the past. A walk thru in time and achievements we have made with space discovery.
Always a cool place to visit... videos are informative and the kids definitely love it here
Today we went to the museum (traveled all the way from new Orleans) and were completely dissatisfied. First we had to wait in a twenty minute line outside to buy our tickets(90$ for three people). Then, once inside the place was nice and big but unfortunately there were lines for every single exhibit/attraction. We managed to walk around a bit before we realized it was pointless. Some of the lines wrapped around the building. We could not get on the tram or go up to see the space shuttle. I understand it is a busy museum but there should be a limit of how many people are allowed in at a time. It was a waste of money and time and left us very disappointed.
Lived up to its expectations. Love love this place.
Tour is extremely unorganized. If you're planning on going on it, dedicate 2-3 hours for waiting in line. My suggestion, skip it and enjoy the science center,
Whether you are a kid or a kid at heart this place is a must do. They have lots of hands on and interactive exhibits. I really enjoyed Rad Rhonda on the Stellar Science Stage. Watching her interact with the kids in the audience was a joy to behold. The food is overpriced in my opinion. 16 dollars for a chicken sandwich coleslaw and a coke is way to much. They have two shops that I saw. I went to the Space Trader gift shop and was helped by a lovely gentleman named Kennth. Over all I would definitely recommend it
My daughter works here. The tours are very informative and the people welcoming.
I expected more is all I can say. Lines were long, and the weather didn't cooperate, so we didn't get to ride the train outside. My 10 year old son did like the visit since he enjoys learning about the spaceships and outer space.
It is easier and takes less time to go to the moon than it does to get on the tram tours. However the 50th Anniversary Apollo tour is free and well worth your time.
Great for members, would definitely go back. Without being a member, the line for the team tour was over 2 hour wait
It is interesting... see the bus, the airplane, etc... but I have to confess that I thought it would be more organized, or at least have a routine to guide the visit. The place is cool, but the lack of guidance bothers a lot. The staff is gentle, but a lot of people for few employees. The parking lot is very huge, this is not a point of worry.
To discover, fabulous, for young and old, exceptional.
The creative head was acoomplished by treatfull tech which was lobable and praticable to learn the sides for life sustainity
A must visit for tourists n people who would like to know the history
It was pretty cool and that's cause I'm not much of a science lover ! Great for kids !
An amazing place! During the tour they explain different things about NASA and the facilities, very interesting and many things are learned. You have the opportunity to see the Saturn V rocket and the control center.
Took my sons to the Space center and they had a blast
