Very nice for what I could see from the outside, unfortunately it was closed, excellent theater season 2019!
Beautiful building with fantastic historical relevance. Just keep in mind that this is a recreation and isn't even in the location the original was.
Amazing performance of Hamlet at The Globe. We purchased the tickets for floor space but upon arrival at the theater learned that the floor space is allocated on the fist come first serve basis. We joined the line of people waiting at the door and got ourselves front of the stage spots! Must-see for anyone who appreciates Shakespeare and his works.
The only timber frame building in London.
With an open sky scene.
I loved the rehearsal of the play EL Rey Lear. And the guide that explained everything about the origins of the theater, etc. has been very good in its explanations.
Long ago and far away, we would have theatres along the riverside, lots of them. They would be there to entertain the masses and would be frequented by the commoners of London. One day, an entrepreneur and actor decided to repeat this experience in a modern London...and Sam Wanamaker started the initiative to build The Globe.
The gift shop is probably one of the best in London, with all manner of curios given the Shakespeare treatment.
Every year there are dramas that have seasons, just as is the RSC at Stratford and the Barbican/National. The Pit is allocated to the commoner as was in the day, with the seats, or spaces around the circumference more pricey. The walkway and approach is fantastic, on a summers day, the reflection of St Paul's is clearly visible in the tour windows. Great that there is as much on the Brummie Bard here in the capital as there is in the Midlands.
Great riverside location with London views, snacks/drinks allowed in theatre during performances with eating places adjacent.
Just walking past, will visit as soon as time allows
A lovely place built as old fashion. But I have to confess. Modern Shakespeare is not my cup of tea.
It's not original, but a marvellous representation of what it used to be, tour is very interesting and helps you understand the work of Shakespeare in the heart of the sinful part of London.
This is my daughter and my second time watching the play at the Shakepeare's Globe. We get the 'Yard (standing)' ticket for 5 pounds/ticket and get there early to stand right front of the stage. Where in the world can you get a ticket at such low price to watch these famous actors and actresses on the stage!?! We watched Romeo and Juliet, a modern version. Even if you are not into watching a live plays, this is a MUST! Make sure to book your tickets early because it may be sold out when you get there!!
Not so good Henry IV part 1 - disappointing performance. Love going here every year, but a friend and have done twice a year for over 10 years but needs a kick up the backside. Poor overall even though Hotspur standin was excellent... and with gents out of action too the house also let it down.
Theater in it s pure form!
Very origin place, guided very interesting and funny by Matthews.
So you could imagine how it was during Shakespeare s time!
The theater is well worth a visit!
Wonderful recreation of Shakespeare's Globe. I'd recommend this place to any hardcore shakespear fan.
Excellent venue for watching Shakespeare as the great man intended. Be careful when selecting seats as many of them are heavily obscured by beams. Saw Othello here and the production was superb.
I was totally impressed with the Globe. Tour was very God but I'd have appreciated an opportunity to ask questions.
Excellent .I saw As You Like It ..was funny spectacular costumery and unfaultable cast . The setting was perfect .although standing for over three hours did take its toll on my short legs the next day .enjoyed every minute of it. The Globe is a remarkable setting and is a must see for both tourists and Londoners alike .
Very interesting. Next time I really want to visit a theater piece. Must be great.
Fantastic! An incredibly involving and moving experience. Transforms the theatre experience compared to sitting in the dark watching remote figures.
Excellent Theatre tour. A Midsummer night's dream performance was good but the director's take on it turned out to be average at best
Visited on a Tuesday.
Very realistic model of what Shakespeare's theatre would have been like. I appreciated the effort.
Disappointed that there was only one showing though on a Tuesday - at 7pm we were not able to make it.
Also sad that the tours cost more than I wanted to spend.
Bad place by all standards
If I could give him less than a star, I would have given him
You expected that there would be a small theater and a simple show of Shakespeare's shows, but unfortunately only a simulated theater for the theater in which Shakespeare was presenting his shows and have a guide with you explaining who, how and what challenges Shakespeare faced
The ticket price is 17 baud for an adult and exaggerated
I do not advise you to waste your precious time in this bad place even if it is free
Wonderful implementation of the lot of noise for nothing in Mexican
Very very nice! Was only there for a tour. The lady who led us around was very knowledgeable and friendly. And we as a group of students could understand them very well.
Really authentic experience, quite uncomfortable standing on a boiling day but a great experience nevertheless
Historic place. The bad thing is that it is with mandatory guidance
Awesome play however I had a standing ticket and it was raining
Awesome visitor attraction - Definately recommend this and the guided tour.
Good beer good food nice Riverside views friendly staff
Must see, preferably under the guidance of Gerald. It was great
Always great guided tours for school groups, although the amount of groups simultaneously in the theatre can make hearing the guide difficult at times. Very friendly staff, and the Globe itself is beautiful.
Needs to add seats it aint the 14th century any more
It's awesome, wether or not you get seats or have to stand on the floor in front of the stage, it's very fun and sometimes interactive performances.
Nice reproduction of the old theatre, we saw Henry the vii
Amazing theatre that beyond putting on great shows really conveys the atmosphere of Shakespearian London!
This is a reconstruction of the famous Theater "Bard", Shakespeare. Visits are in English, but it's the "place or never"! An info: all guides do not deliver the same comments. Some are more building-oriented, other pieces, and other stories. In any case, it makes you want to come back as a spectator.
Food is decent pub food, and there are some decent beers/ales/lagers on tap from the Globe. Fun place to go for dinner and in a cool location.
A wonderful experience, wouldn't recomend the latest production of Hamlet, but the feel of everything else is not something to be missed.
Excellent production of Merry Wives of Windsor. Pearce Quigley was a stand out, but the entire cast was so enjoyable.
Fantastic. Can't wait to see a performance for a fiver!
Saw MacBeth. great performance and a really amazing historic building.
Very interesting location and history. Tour guide was really great.
It is very sensible to stand and watch the actors. The actors are very professional and professional.
Worth it. Excellent guides tell interestingly about the theater and Shakespeare.
We were so happy with our globe experience. From ticket collection to entering the theatre all representatives were splendid and made us feel welcome. The play itself was the 90 minutes Romeo and Juliet and it was wonderful ! Very modern and very well done. Good show!
Favorite part of out trip! Must see for theater or Shakespeare fans.
I recommend it to everyone who has appreciation for the great jokes or for fans of Shakespeare
Immerse yourself in a faithfully reproduced Victorian era theater. If you can assistant to a representation. It can only be visited in the morning.
Absolutely loved the Christmas performance with Sandy Toksvig. It was simply magical!
Great experience. I recommend standing up. Very involving.
Photogenic. Great for summer theatre season. Good to visit
One ticked off the list for my wife and I who had both always wanted to go but never had a reason to actually book it. We saw Twelfth Night at the weekend and had a fantastic time. The cast were awesome. The teleprompter helps a lot when the Shakespearean language becomes overwhelming and you lose track. We booked standing as considered it part of the experience, would spring for seats next time but glad we did standing. Only nuisance was the odd helicopter overhead but I guess Shakespeare didn't see that coming so fair enough.
Brilliant your and the restaurant upstairs was stunning
A great venue, the Wanamaker Playhouse is a gem and the Swan is a very cosy with a great draft beer selection.
For those who are very interested in the epoch and Shakespeare.
Saw the midnight performance of 'as you like it' and had an amazing time. Beautiful theatre and good selection of beers.
Great tour of the auditorium by a knowledgeable actor.
A must see. Take the tour for anyone interested in Shakespeare. Very cool! In the warmer months plays are performed at the Globe so keep an eye out.
