Sandals Emerald Bay is all around amazing! The private mile long beach is pristine and the water beautiful. The staff are really friendly and professional. Every staff you pass by would greet you and say hello and ask how you are doing. The quality and variety of food is incredible. My wife and I enjoyed this resort so much two years ago we visited again recently. We highly recommend Sandals and Emerald Bay specifically to all of our friends and family.

Not what we expected. Room service took long. Don't even have what we, who are paying to go to, the beer we drink! And if you go to the beach, expect a long wait on service, or get up and get it yourself.

Very nice resort. Fantastic facility. Food was delicious even if it was not ours. We had a butler suite and paid for 6 nights without a flight 1600 per person. Unfortunately no Red Bull included minus point. Butler service was great.

This Sandals is the best place for any honeymoon for newly weds or a nice getaway for married couples to enjoy themselves. The water is just as clear in person as it is in the pictures. The service of all of the members was always incredibly helpful and friendly. Everyone was always willing to help, said hello and made sure you were having the absolute best time possible. We stayed for one week and one day and if we could have, we would have extended a stay!

Better off staying at any of the other resorts and...

Better off staying at any of the other resorts and saving $$$, especially if you were conned into going for the "butler service" option.

First things first. When you get to the island and clear customs, the resort staff will line you up and shuttle you and 1-2 other couples into some local taxi to get to the resort. Ours wasn't very focused on the road and almost ended our trip before it began. Rather, we were lectured about the poverty in the country and how the resorts do nothing but keep the locals as nothing more than indentured servants and pity partied into giving tips to help support their families. I share this to highlight the "pampered from when you first arrive" like they tell you.
When you finally make it to the hotel, they split up the butler guests from the non-butler guests. For the butler guests, we were herded into the lobby and had to wait an hour to check in only to find our room still wasn't ready. During check in we were told that there would be an additional $400 charge on the card for "incidentals" which they couldn't tell me what would be covered by that.
Once we met our "butler" we were given a rushed overview of the restaurants and pointed to our rooms. Dude had a serious attitude and was obviously stretched thin by his 9 others couples he was tasked to take care of.

Sandals will contact you ahead of time and ask you where you want to eat and what you want your room stocked with. This is more to keep you feeling good about making a poor life choice than actually doing anything about getting you reservations for the restaurants or stocking your room with what you want to drink. You'll have to tell all of that over again after check in since they apparently can't pre-service the rooms prior.
When we got to the room, it still wasn't stocked with any water, let alone any adult beverages. Those didn't arrive until the following day. The room was decently sized, with an older non jetted 1 person tub and walk in shower. Not bad, but not commensurate with what we were spending per night.

For the butlers, you ask for any drinks or services, be prepared to wait over an hr to get what you ask for. I stopped asking for things completely and just walking to the bars and restaurants myself.

The bar staff was understaffed for the amount of traffic they get, and their demeanor shows it. The staff around the grounds seemingly are also in some conflict with another as you walk around the property and listen to the conversations that spill out onto the well manicured grounds.

The restaurants food is top notch everywhere we tried, but many require a reservation ahead of time so if you are celebrating a special occasion and want a specific restaurant it may not work out as we found out.

The pool is typical resort fare with a walk up/swim up bar. Cabanas and pool chairs with fireplaces dot the surroundings. The butlers are not supposed to save cabanas as they are supposedly 1st come 1st serve, but some do. Ours did not. Again, waste of money.

For activities, if they involve the beach and there is the slightest wind or surf then expect it to be cancelled. Other resorts on the island with shuttle (for free) their guest to calmer spots to enjoy off resort activities. Sandals will put you in a janky cab (for $100 American each way) if you want to get off the resort.

Checkout early since the staff is task saturated and getting an accurate receipt can be an issue (again, incidentals in a supposedly all inclusive resort is hit or miss depending on what room you get.) Your pity party cab driver makes a final appearance for the drive back to the airport as you and the other couples you are shoved into there with go to leave the island. For the last trip, our cab had NO AC, and two broken windows that wouldn't roll down. Paradise gets hot, and I really didn't want to be soaked in sweat for the trip back home, but by this point, what else could I expect?

Emerald Bay hosts a very renowned spa and as well ...

Emerald Bay hosts a very renowned spa and as well as a Greg Norman designed golf course set within 500 acres of lush scenery on the beautiful island of Exuma. There are 7 restaurants and 6 bars to choose from, as well as a coffee shop that has some great tasting pastries and a jerk chicken stand situated near the main pool. 24 hour room service and mini provided at no extra cost. Emerald Bay has its own private beach with perfect white sand and provides plenty of land activities as well as water sports. PADI certification is an additional cost but is situated on site.
The transfers from the airport to Emerald Bay aren't as good as its made out to be. Its left purely down to the local taxi drivers to turn up and ferry you to Sandals resort. We had to wait 15 minutes after the airport had closed for the evening, in a run down part of the island with minimal lighting and no amenities. Make sure you have a mobile with you so that you won't be left stranded as we were.
If it wasn't for the shambles of being left to find our own way from the small airport to Emerald Bay then I would have given it a 5 star rating. The staff are very friendly and helpful which is a godsend especially since my partner is disabled.

Beautiful resort, food is fine but sometimes difficult to get reservations in the nicer places. Our butlers were amazing (Quentin/Limon/Greg), when we couldn't get reservations or just wanted to stay in they set up dinner in our suite from the restaurant of our choice. We stayed in December 2016 the week they reopened after the storms, even with all of that the grounds were nice and it was still a work in progress. They were building a new restaurant at the time of our stay. The only con is that there is nothing to do or anywhere to go off site, it is a very secluded area. We did do the pig excursion, that was a highlight of the trip. Golf was fun, very challenging course with stunning ocean scenery. You will never be thirsty, the bartenders are fun and make sure that you are never without!

It was very nice, however: the beach was never raked, guests were walking with bags picking up the garbage, plastic bottles, wood, broken tables and chairs, a long pole. When we arrived to our room the bathroom had only one outlet, no hooks in the room to hang clothes on. Our refrigerator was not stocked with our requests, and opened liquor bottles were left on the counter. Our patio ceiling was chipped paint and rust. French restaurant was the best. Pools were great. Butler service was very nice. Some Butler's were better others. Since this was taken over from Four Season's Emerald Bay needs to update a few items. It was, however, very relaxing.

Sandals Emerald Bay is truly a magnificent resort with the most friendly and professional staff. The beach is pristine with the most beautiful clear blue water I have ever seen. We had a vow renewal on the resort as well with 11 people and the wedding department was outstanding, the day/week was perfect. We will definitely be coming back!

Sandals in Exuma, Bahamas has become our go to v...

Sandals in Exuma, Bahamas has become our go to vacation spot when we want to relax and enjoy the ocean. Sandals staff meet you at the airport and provide a short ride to the beautifully landscaped campus that is Emerald Bay. The Bahamian staff are warm and welcoming, well trained and seem genuinely happy to make our vacation the best that it could be. Check in this time seemed smoother and less cumbersome than it has in the past. The rooms are large and gracious with balconies that face the ocean. The bathrooms are luxurious. We always upgrade to concierge level so that we can get room service and a stocked bar. The bar area was empty due to recent controversy in other resort alcohol provisions, and it did take three days to get the Rum Reserve that I had ordered. Not really a problem, and I respect the concern for my safety shown by Sandals management. Housekeeping made it fun by leaving a towel figure on our bed one day. All of the restaurants, with the exception of the Drunken Duck bar, serve five star cuisine with first class presentation. Brandijah is happy to assist you with making reservations to the restaurants so that they can be prepared to offer you exceptional experiences. As usual, we witnessed several beautifully done weddings on the beach, and many people taking advantage of the skilled and creative photographers that are available. Though there are many Sandals resorts available in the Caribbean, we will continue to return to Emerald Bay as it suits us perfectly.

Hated our room. The sinks in the bathroom barely had any water pressure. The toilet area smelled like a port a potty. The hallway to our room had an unpleasant odor. We had to make repeated calls to have our in room mini bar stocked. We had to call to have the room serviced. Food was barely ok. Our previous experiences in Jamaica were superb. We expected superb in the Bahamas, don't go there. Going back to Jamaica where sandals was perfect. To be clear, don't go to Bahamas. Only Jamaica.

Not a well managed Sandals property. Missed two trips we signed up for and one we were never told they cancelled it as ourselves and two couples kept waiting by the Piano lounge area for someone to show up and take us. Area is beautiful and quiet and very spacious but Concierge would not help us with any trips other than ones they sold despite the fact we wanted to go to the Thunderball Grotto and they did not have a trip that went there. Would not go back.

Have been to some all-inclusives that were just so-so, some lacking in the food department. Emerald Bay was a perfect choice. The location is ideal. It sits on a huge, quiet beach with the most amazing shades of blue water. We stayed in a butler-suite. It was absolutely worth the extra money. They butlers brought your stuff, including cooler stocked with beverages of your choice, to your private thatched shaded area on the beach, or pool if you prefer. They were helpful through the stay in making reservations for restaurants and booking excursions. They seemed to anticipate what you needed, and when. The restaurants were also excellent. The French restaurant was superb. All were really excellent.. The Italian restaurant also great. They were all good, a lot of options, high quality food. There were 2 pools. One was bigger more activity centered pool and a smaller, quiet pool. All had cabanas, no charge, first come first served. Many were open all day. The staff on the grounds are friendly, everyone, from gardeners to wait staff say hello and engage in conversation. The swimming with the pigs excursion was also great amazing. We rented a car one day and drove the island. It's obvious the staff takes pride in their island as shown by how they treat their guests as royalty. Great stay.

Giving a star is too much especially for the unwillingness to work of all the staff from the reception at the airport already a critical situation loomed. Check-in was a last-minute disaster for rooms that weren't the ones booked and without the WiFi working that today is vital for business reasons. I strongly advise against any European to come to a structure like this designed for an American clientele with different needs. Quite simply, finding the same room paid 45 GG before at a price lower than $ 1,500 is simply a joke. The management should ask itself why it is half-empty even though the rooms are going down at this price. Avoid it there are much, much better destinations at lower prices!

Came for our Honeymoon and had an incredible experience all around - staff, rooms, food, and location were all top notch. Every experience with staff was pleasant, especially with our team of butlers (Theon, Treco and Anndeka) who were incredibly thoughtful and made the trip that much better for us. Restaurants on site were fantastic and every bit of the facilities were spotless, even during bad weather. Great Exuma is one of the most relaxing places I've been and the Sandals property is one of a kind. I would highly recommend this location and can't wait to return.

This was the best resort yet. People were beyond friendly! We like to have a quiet, relaxing vacation. We stayed in a Butler room on the beach and LOVED it! The butler's were awesome and we only went to a restaurant at dinner! Beach was BEAUTIFUL! If you are a beach person I would highly recommend Exuma! We did a Castaway tour that was also our favorite! Private beach just one couple a day with a cooler full of food! THE BEST!

Went for our honeymoon, expecting a polished gem o...

Went for our honeymoon, expecting a polished gem of a resort. That was not the case. The room smelled like mold and was a lot smaller than expected (although it was a walkout), we had to ask for the bathrobes which should have been in our room upon arrival, the water pressure was poor, one of the TVs stopped working, housekeeping didn't show up until 6 PM on multiple days, it took 1-2 days to get our mini fridge restocked, the main pool isn't heated, the lounge chairs around the pool and on the beach were dingy and old, and the resort made little to no effort to pick up the trash on the beach. There wasn't a large amount of trash, but what was there should have been removed.
Sometimes when we went into the Bahama Bay bar, we wouldn't get service for about 10 minutes, even though there was staff walking around in the restaurant part of that building who could easily see us.
It seemed that the drinks at the pool bar were watered down, and made with exceptionally cheap liquor.
There were no towels available in the evenings when we wanted to sit in the hot tub, so we had to acquire towels during the day, to use at night. No, we didn't steal them to take home, we left them in our room after using them, and housekeeping eventually took them away.
The food was very good in some restaurants, and exceptionally poor in others. Do NOT get the ribeye steak at the Drunken Duck! The lobster at Bahama Bay was rubbery and I could tell it had been frozen, and the conch fritters were not appealing.
The Jerk Shack, Bombay, Cafe de Paris, and Il Cielo (breakfast only) were outstanding.
The butler service was not even close to worth it. It took our butler 3.5 hours to get us a toiletry item we asked for, and they never did take away the empty champagne bottle and stand which was in our room when we arrived.
The spa was very nice. The spa gets 5 stars!
We didn't use the gym, tennis court, or any part of the golf course. I wish that we had been allowed to borrow a golf cart and drive the course without playing just to see the beautiful views of the water, but this was not permitted.
All this being said, we won't be back. This resort was NOT worth the $780 USD per day that we paid.

Absolutely appalling. Stayed for 7 days ......After 3days, the beautiful turquoise water turned a horrible sewage brown. Locals told us a huge pond was allowed to run off and drain into the bay. We questioned the hotel desk 4 times and were told WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU BUT ITS SAFE . There is no way water being dumped in with DEAD FISH is safe. The island is beautiful, but this MAJOR
Problem was handled 110% incorrectly by the resort not being upfront with there highly paying customers. My first and last time visiting Sandals due to the whatever attitude experienced. We saved up for a year to be handled horribly. Do yourself a favor -spend your hard earned $ elsewhere. I wish I could attach pictures of the filthy water we were told to swim in. I will attempt to post the to resort Facebook page.

Location and Amenities: Overall Very Good

Location and Amenities: Overall Very Good
Sandals Emerald Bay for 7 nights in Beachfront Junior Butler Room
-- Beach was excellent and property was maintained very well
-- Room was smaller than the equivalent room we had two years earlier at Sandals Montego Bay.
-- Room was adequate overall although it leaked around ventilation return ducts twice during heavy rains

Butler Service: Overall Inadequate
-- Only one of three butlers was somewhat adequate.
-- We did not even see one butler the first night / day he was on-duty.
-- Considering we were Sandals returnees and on our anniversary, we were very disappointed that nothing was done to make that day special such as drawing a bath for my wife or flower petals in the room on that evening.
-- The candlelight dinner was purchased seven weeks in advance (charged twice but corrected after I pointed that out). -- Morning of dinner, we received the menu and location request. We got our second choice of location--likely because our butlers did not do this earlier.
-- Two on-coming butlers never called when their shift started to see if we had any needs. Did not even come to walk us to the location of the candlelight dinner we paid $199 for. The long-stem rose and remainder of dinner wine bottle promised in the dinner package were not given even though I asked about them. Brought up to two of the butlers, and they did not resolve it. Said needed manager but was in meeting (both times). In most cases, we were out of ice and mixers in the room unless I called to request after I would see there were none. Basically we got Concierge Service for the price of Butler Service--will not happen again.
Staff Service: Excellent Overall
-- Staff was friendly and helpful.
Tours:
-- Historical Tour started 20 minutes late and ended about 30 minutes early and was incomplete -- did not take us to the Tropic of Cancer because he said there was not enough time. Detours were used and times spent on cell phone conducting other business was excessive -- not much of a tour -- reported this to management, but nothing visible was done.
-- Swim with the Pigs -- This tour was Excellent, including feeding iguanas, snorkeling and beach combing, as well as water tour. We would do this again.

Best: Beaches and Property Maintenance
Least: Butler Service

1000% Awful. Sadly, it started off even before I made it to the resort. I called 2 days prior to our reservation as we received news that my mother in law was going into hospice care and was only given a matter of 72 hours to live. I was inquiring to see if there was any form of credit we could receive, given this immediate family member emergency, or if we could possibly transfer the credit to another time, or even to another couple. I was rudely cut off and told that if it was not my physical self having an emergency, I was past the cancellation period and there s nothing that can be done. She goes, well it s not YOUR mother. No, it s my mother in law, but it IS the mother of the other person on the reservation, hence why I am calling.
As I m getting ready to attend the night s festivities with our wedding group, my steamer cord knocks over my perfume bottle and it breaks all over the bathroom floor. I instinctively step to try to start cleaning it up and a large piece of the base goes straight into the middle of my foot. I called the front desk asking if I could get some sort of super glue or liquid stitch in order to seal it up so I could make it to the wedding festivities that evening. They said the best they could do was bring me a Bandaid and the nurse was already gone for the day. I managed to tape up my foot by myself and hobble down to try to meet everyone. Unfortunately, by the time I made it down to the main building, everything had ended. Once I got back to my room, my foot was hurting so badly I began blacking out from the pain. I couldn t walk, I couldn t put any pressure on my foot. It throbbed all night keeping me awake.
The mother of the bride came to my room first thing in the morning and called the nurse s office and insisted someone come get me because I couldn t walk. Over an hour and a half later, a staff member shows up asking if I m ready to go. I said, yes, where s the chair? Or do you have crutches? He looked at me blankly. You mean you can t walk? No that s why you were called an hour and a half ago! If I could walk, I would ve already been down at the nurse s office. He offers his arm to help me. Absolutely not. I proceed to try to hop to the door. Mind you, I m on the second floor, a good ways away from the elevator. As soon as I make it to the hallway, he offers a piggy back ride. Excuse me?! Are you serious? No. I kept hopping, half way down the hall, I just give up out of exhaustion and say sure, let s try it. He kneels down for me get on his back he stumbles as he tries to lift me (Mind you, I m 5/6, 150lbs not a huge person), I go forward and of course, fall on the foot that is punctured, you can imagine the level of pain I m in at this point. I said forget it and continue to hop. I get to the golf cart on the first floor and he takes me to the nurse s office. Her first reaction is seemingly amused that I m in such pain. Not professional at all. The security guard came to get a report from me. I gave him all the details and said there was still glass all over the floor and my bloody towel. He said he was going to go check it out and would have the room cleaned. The nurse said there was nothing she could do for my foot, that I needed to go to the hospital on the island. They managed to find me a wheel chair to get me to the shuttle to take me to the hospital. Yet they couldn t manage to send one to the room? After a 6 hour ordeal, a tetanus shot, pain meds, I finally make it back to my room Sandals employee took me in a wheelchair only to show up to the bathroom still with the bloody towel and glass everywhere. This employee was mortified and called housekeeping immediately to come clean. I'd type more, as there is a LOT more that was terrible but I'm out of room. Horrible service, horrible food, maids were loud and disruptive - impossible to sleep, room service was non-existent, pool was filthy, staff was rude. You couldn't pay me to stay at a Sandals Resort ever again.

Exuma is absolutely gorgeous to begin with! This exclusive hotel has a spa that I visited for half a day. Security was rather strict. A bit over the top I felt. The spa is separate from the hotel so I can't rate it. My spa treatment came with champagne. I spent the rest of my time lounging. The jets in the hot tubs weren't working but I'm sure they've been repaired by now. It was a hot day anyway hot tubs weren't needed

Was the best Honeymoon we could have ever asked for. The beach was beautiful right outside our villa. The service was top notch, our Butler Kevin never skipped a beat and always made sure we had a cold drink in hand ;). Only stayed for a week but wished it was longer. The food at every restaurant was to die for. Our final night we had a candle lit dinner on the tower such an evening to remember for years. Cant wait to plan our next trip for our anniversary but surely going to share it with our kiddos at Turks more than likely.

Day 3 at the resort, and it is everything I dreamed about, and more. From the minute you arrive ,your every need is attended to. I needed a wheelchair at certain times and accomadated that too. The food, the beach(the most beautiful beach I ve seen), the rooms exceed my expectations. Service is great everywhere! Including the Spa to the restaurants and room service. Their attention to detail is impeccable. Shout out to Butlers Arielle and Sydney for always making sure we were always happy They would go to the moon and back to make sure we were content . See you next January I found my paradise at Sandals Emerald Bay! Cheers

Not 5 star place at all! The grounds are beautiful location is fantastic but after that it fall short. Butler service was really nice but has a lot of room for improvement should not have to ask for ice everyday. None of the 11 restaurants made me want to go back. Not a single meal made me say now that is good and I want more of that tomorrow. Most of the staff was friendly and did a good job. Some staff did not want to be there and it showed. Pool was nice and the facilities are great but with the lack of good food this place gets taken off my to do list. Good premium liquor is nice but that does not overcome the food. Did the fishing side trip no cheap date did catch a Bone fish and saw a ton more so not going to complain about that it was pretty good but I think you could find a much better deal outside the resort. Golf course was nice and very difficult course again not a cheap date for the price to stay on resort I would of thought the cost would of been better. Spa treatments were good the room we had the treatment in was ice cold I guess the staff was hot? Mens steam shower was not operational that is a big negative! One of the reasons to go to the spa is to get to use the Steam Shower and for it to be out of service is poor. Overall good but no close to 5 star and don't feel like I got what I paid for on the trip. I don't mind paying for quality. At an all inclusive resort the food can make or break the trip. By the end of the trip we were happiest with just a burger as it was the most consistent item on the property. None of the deserts were eatable with exception to bread pudding at the drunken duck it was pretty good. Pastries were old and lacked flavor. They should have those things being made on the property not brought in on a boat as the staff said they were. High a pastry chef and cook something. Talked with several other people and everyone was disappointed in the food. I would rather have 4-5 great restaurants rather than 11 mediocre places.

I spent a week here. The place was fantastic. I would certainly go back without hesitation. The food was really good. The staff were very nice. On the day of arrival the entire campus was without internet which was ok, but had to pay my cellular carrier to add roaming to contact kids. The golf course was in phenomenal shape, one of the best I ve ever played on. The drinks were good, but they base rum is a dark rum which makes the fruity drinks taste bad- ask them to switch it out for coconut rum!! Much better. My favorite place to eat was the Il Cielo, followed by Kimonos, and Soy. BUT, there isn t a bad place to eat here. I visited every restaurant and they were all exceptional. I don t know if the place was empty or full! Anytime we went out to eat there was no wait! No kids! No stress. It was great. The resort never seemed overcrowded like some of these other tropical destinations, but you are paying a higher price for more privacy and seclusion. My only frustration was at times there was a lack of communication between staff, primarily the water sports people. I was scheduled to scuba dive one morning but because the phone line was down the driver was never made aware and so I was sitting at the pick up location for 45 minutes. Someone used a cell phone to call him and get me but by the time I got to the dock the boat had already left. Apparently for that day all the early morning divers were the same divers for the later dive so everyone was just hanging out by the boat. They didn t realize their party was -1. It s okay though I guess because I was able to go the day before I left. Other than that the place was amazing, beautiful water just as you see in the pictures.

Trip went pretty smooth overall. This review is directed toward post trip customer service. We were scheduled to go on an ATV excursion while at resort. The day before we went to the desk to double check and confirm our excursion. They informed us that it was actually canceled due to it simply not being available that day anymore. Who knows when we were to be notified of this.

Anyway, they said we would be refunded immediately so we left. A month has gone by since our trip ended and still have not seen a refund. We ve called the resort who gave us a different number to call. That number said actually the resort should handle it. No one seems to know how to handle refunds or wants to figure this out.

The last number I called, I was transferred to 3 different people, put on hold so she could call the resort. The resort said he didn t have an answer at the moment even though we already called them about the issue
2 days ago. I am supposedly supposed to get a call back to see if we ll be issued a refund.

If we didn t call them, I m not sure we would ever see the refund. It s been a disaster trying to handle something that should be very routine .

They made our wedding wonderful. It was great to let them handle everything. We enjoyed that the total cost was less than a traditional wedding and were able to spend more time with our friends and family.

We're currently on our honeymoon and it had been fantastic so far. All the staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Not to mention all the top shelf drinks you can handle. Strongly recommend doing the butler service, it's amazing.

My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon here - an absolute dream location. I have never seen such a beautiful beach. The pool was just as huge and inviting. All employees are extremely friendly. I can definitely recommend.

Watch the restaurant closings. They told us some of the restaurants require reservations but nothing about them being closed for nights off or private party. Both Italian and sushi are closed weekly.
