So I needed a wiper on a mucky evening on my way out of Philly. Stopped in, got guidance from a parts guy - - even recommended a wiper and sent me out to the cashier. She in turn sent me to the garage to have it installed - - free. No waiting, and the guy could not have been nicer EVEN with the rain.

Recently purchased a vehicle which was running great and never had any issues, however after I took my car to their shop for an oil change and my car broke down the very next day.....as I was was preparing to leave after the oil change was complete an employee recommend that I get other things taking care of which I knew wasn't necessary and felt as though they just wanted more money from me....so after my car broke down I took it to my dealership and they said it seems some parts have been Tampered with so they may have to take things apart nd put back in place. I was very fortunate to have purchased a warranty with my vehicle others may not be so lucky......**DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES AT THIS LOCATION **

Very Professional Crew! Ray and his crew worked all day to fix my 2002 Ford Explorer that was overheating. Since we were on vacation they understood it needed to be fixed and tried everything possible to fix it.. The crew put in over $600 in parts and labor and tried everything from sensors, fan clutch, water pump, etc., but could not find a solution. Since Ray could not guarantee his work he did not charge me and I found that very professional and appreciated it. I would trust this crew to handle any issue with my car.

I usually only go for an oil change and an inspection. Like ALL service stations, they may also want to do something that is not really needed. Ask if it can wait ... then just say no!
Prices are right and the work is well done.

These employees are my heroes!

I woke up to a flat tire, only to discover that the vehicle I had been sold a few months ago did not include a rod to disengage the spare tire.

I came over to pep boys, and they were kind enough to lend me the exact rod I needed and advise me on which jack would work best for my needs.

When I returned, I discovered that the spare tire that had come with my vehicle was the incorrect size.

I returned with the rod and my old tire - They inflated the old one for me and advise me on which auto-inflator would work best.

I got back and managed to finally get my vehicle on the road - Very happy with how helpful they were! Never thought I'd have so much trouble over changing a tire, but I guess this was the final boss of all tire changes that you fight after changing all the other tires.

Required a reservation to get my oil changed. I showed up for the appointment I was forced to make and it took a half hour before they started to work on my car.

30 minutes into my oil change a representative approached me and offered to sell me a variety of extra services. I politely declined and he said that he would be getting to my oil change shorty. At this point I had already been at pep boys for an hour past my appointment time.

I watched from the window as they serviced my car and then moved back to the parking lot out front. Another 15 minutes go by and I eventually, rather then continuing to wait, approached the counter and asked if I could pay. The man at the counter seemed flabbergasted that I knew my car was no longer being worked on.

90min to perform a simple oil change on my car that I had an appointment for. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

I bring my car today for a scheduled appointment to replace my all season tires with winter tires, wait almost hour and half and manager told me that tires I bought is wrong size and not going to work, but I know I have a right size tires for sure, they declined to install my tires and I left and go straight to Tires Plus in Conchohoken. Because I didn't have an appointment I waited 2-3 hours but they had no any problems to install my winter tires for very reasonable price, much lower than Pep Boys and I left very satisfied and happy. Well Pep Boys of Andorra this been my first and last visit to your shop, thanks for wasting my time.

Wow, just stopped by this location for an oil chan...

Wow, just stopped by this location for an oil change and a very irritable manager told me unless I leave my car, he has no appointment for today.
It was 12:30pm, they open until 8pm..
The funny thing I was at this location before but did not remember the street address and scheduled the appointment at Stelton location, so drove there, realized its different place and came back here in hopes to do a 15 min oil change, but he was so angry and arrogant like I was asking him for something unthinkable or inappropriate.
Crossing this location from the list, there are plenty of other Pep boys stores.

I experienced consistently poor service at the Ridge Ave Pep Boys. Most recently I paid out of pocket to have my vehicle towed to this location after my car failed to start. I could tell from the sound that the starter failed and told this to the service agent when I brought it in. Their mechanic insisted that the car s security system was preventing the start, failing to realize that the red key light on the dash would blink if that was the case. When I attempted to explain that this was not the issue, they just cut me off, said they wouldn t look at it and that I should just bring it to the dealer. I had to pay for the towing a second time to get it to the dealer where they found that it was the starter all along.
My family has been going to this shop for years. This was the last straw for me.

went in for A/C parts was tool by associate to see one behind parts desk .. he walks away .. another associate comes back .. does not have a clue .. finally, parts associate returns .. only they don't have what I need .. and the kit on the shelf is missing pieces .. waste a time again.

I called yesterday to have a flat tire repaired today. When I called this morning to confirm that I could bring my car in, the gentleman on the phone was rude and not helpful at all. I explained that I am a physician and I really needed this fixed today. He spoke in a condescending way, explaining that we are in a pandemic and he cannot guarantee me any help today. He did not offer any alternatives, besides leaving my car and they will get to it when they can and that did not mean today. He did not even offer an appointment for later this week, nothing.

I called a different location and made an appointment for this afternoon to get a patch on the flat tire. As a healthcare worker in the pandemic we only get 1 day off a week. I never request same day service for anything but I really needed it today and I did not appreciate the customer service that I received today.

I've been going here for 6 years out of convenience, which is why they're even earning a star. Weekend hours allow me to get my car serviced without interrupting my work week.

Any time I make an appointment online or over the phone, it is not honored at the shop for a variety of reasons. It's like nobody logs the appointments and the online system is make believe. On multiple occasions I have needed to bring my car back because a mechanic left a tool under my hood or they forgot to complete a requested service. I mark my tires when I request a tire rotation because they don't always rotate them when requested. I have had batteries installed there incorrectly, which by their own admission, resulted in a shorter battery life.

Recently I called ahead for an oil change in the morning, I was assured they would get to the car by the end of the day, only to be informed at the end of the day that they did not have time to complete the work. There was no effort to prioritize my car the next morning and I was offered an appointment several days later, which I have no faith in. This has happened on multiple occasions.

I'm sure there are great people and mechanics that work here and it's possible that you will receive excellent service, but I continue to experience sloppy work and sub-par service year after year.

It's a hit or miss place. I've been here several times to patch up slow leaking tires and it has been ok in the past. Never had to put up with any dramas etc... Call ahead to find out what the wait time is like so you don't have to wait forever for a little thing. Making an appointment doesn't always work in your favor, best to just call like 15-20min ahead before dropping by.

I have been going to this place for well over two years and my wife started to go as well. As a result of them not being upfront with me about my brake rotors not being covered I will not be going back to this place and neither will my wife. And I will not in any way recommend this place to anyone.
To try to cover themselves they said that my brake rotors were not covered even though my rotors were within the specific guidelines of the mileage and since they were under warranty they told me that since I drive for Uber and Lyft that I cannot in any way be covered. They told me that the brake rotors heat up and cool down too much and that is why they are warped. They also told me that I am commercial when in reality I do not need a commercial license or commercial plates. I feel they should have been professional with their work and fixed it and let me know that under warranty this is what it says. But they don't do that so instead they tell me it's going to cost me hundreds of dollars now to get new rotors. They told me that they would cover the brakes but how are the brakes under warranty when the rotors are not? That doesn't make any sense. I will never recommend this place

Two stars because the front men are very nice and professional. So nice they almost had me fooled. Took my two year old car in for its first inspection with me as the owner. Failed my inspection and received an estimated $800 itemized bill. I am not good with cars but was also not born yesterday. Nearly $300 just for a leak in the brake cylinder. Naturally, if I got all of these items fixed by pep boys I would receive a free inspection. Decided to take my chances and get my car looked at elsewhere for another inspection. The next auto shop I went to
reported no leak in the break cylinder or misalignment or anything else that pep boys said was warranted to pass inspection. My bill after the second inspection came to a total of less than 300$ bill. So no pep boys, you can keep your free inspection and save your gimmicks for another young female who comes off naive.

I will never , ever use pep boys again. Had to take my car there 3 times in one week in regards to a heating issue...9 months after they put in brand new radiator in...they are foulest of humans. they are thieves and liars and just want to make money for no service. Disgusting.

They put on my tires and did a fine job. I was surprised, however, at the high pressure sales to get me to buy other services. I never had this happen before at Pep Boys. I really hated it. I'll get my tires put on someplace else next time.

These guys are great! I have an awesome experience every time I go there. Ray, one of the mechanics there, is very knowledgeable and an awesome guy! He saved me a ton of money. I highly recommend going there.

I went there with one flat tire, expecting either to pay for a plug or, if the tire was ruined, to pay around $90 for a new one. They ended up telling me it would be $750 to replace all four tires, as they were "completely worn," and that was with a buy three get one free deal. I then asked what it would be for two tires, and they told me $380. I then told them that I only wanted one tire, as I was not paying that much, and they said there was a tire that costs $86, which is what I was expecting in the first place. I really felt like they were trying to take advantage and expected that I wouldn't know enough about prices, my car, and what I needed. The man who helped me was nice enough, but I didn't appreciate them trying to up-sell me. They were not very honest and would never have described to me the different priced tires if I had not known to ask. If they had been upfront about the $86 per tire cost in the first place, I would have considered replacing two tires. I will not be going back there.

Amazing service! Having to spend 2 hours there the guys did what they could to get me out bc of the line. One of the guys even purchased my son a toy motorcycle to keep him occupied. Cashier was also super nice! Oh and this was Christmas Eve!! Always treat me well!

Approx 3 years ago took '04 Touareg for oil change. $90+ for synthetic. Got home checked the oil, still black! They charged me but didn't change the oil. They refunded my $$ & completed oil change. Should have learned lesson, but in Jan needed a battery on a Sunday. Took same car in for a $250 battery install. Car didn't start correctly in cold weather. Took back to these guys said no problem with battery or alternator. 2 1/2 weeks later car died on Strawberry Mansion Bridge in freezing snow squalls. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE.

The customer service here is always really good and they're very attentive but the last time I went in to have my doctor they called me back control arms and bushings need to replace an order for them to pass it gave me a quote of 1500.

Took it to my BMW mechanic and he did it all Plus in oil change for $600

Not sure what goes on behind closed doors but it seems that Wendy limited mechanic here aren't sure about doing something they just quoted High referring you to a more skilled mechanic or just saying that they can't do it

I only ever go to Pepboys when it's an emergency. I've gone four times to this location in the past two months. Each time I've gone, at varying times in the day (ranging from morning, afternoon, and night) I've waited at the checkout counter for at least 5 minutes before someone finally came over. It's not like they're busy either. There are employees walking around who I know saw me standing there, but made no attempt to come over. The most recent time I went, I was ready to leave the brake fluid at the counter, brake fluid that I desperately needed for my daily driver, but someone came over just as the timer that I had started on my phone reached 5 minutes. Needless to say, this will be my last visit to this Pepboys location.

Great experience. Super helpful staff inside helped me find my lamps. I asked the service manager how much they charge to pop them in. He laughed, came outside and had it done in 2 minutes. "How much?" I asked.

"Nada!"

Of course, I tipped, which he tried not to take.

Very much appreciated.

Absolutely phenomenal service two times in a row f...

Absolutely phenomenal service two times in a row from their service department. Had some car issues that could have cost us a lot more than it did and took many hours in other places was handled for a very reasonable price with mind blowing speedy service. People in the shop are very professional and polite and are 5 star quality just themselves. Will be taking my car here for all issues and service from here on out.

Selection of parts and car care items is best in the area, and specialty parts can even be ordered online and picked up - usually in just a day or two. Have used service a few times ( tires, battery, and oil changes - different visits) and have always been a great experience. Definitely my go to for car cleaning and other automotive "stuff" in Northwest Philly.

The battery in my son's Saab failed after 18 months (AAA flatbed to AAA garage and battery won't hold a charge afterwards) and the manager found a Bosch battery quickly at another store and he managed to get his car going again. The manager at this store is top-notch.

I paid $62 for my oil change and i told him i had a coupon i have never paid that much for a oil change with a coupon it s been that amount with out a coupon...then i asked was the tire pressure checked and he stated yes (He could take off the light because his machine was messed up)it comes with it i get in my car wait for it to reset Drive a little while my tire pressure still has 17 that s why i never go to pep boys alway jiffy lube...rip off hope they changed the oil like they said

HORRIBLE PLACE, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!

I went for a simple oil change, replacement of a headlight and an inspection.

They called me up rather quickly and stated that if i wanted to be passed, they would need to change my wiper blades(i knew this and was fine with it), my front brakes(went to midas, they explained they were low, but based of PA standards, they were passable, but needed to be changed at some point. The rude guy who called me said NOTHING about being passable, simply that they refused to pass me without changing them), and heres the kicker....they said they called about 5 dealers for HID bulbs, and that NO one carried the one I had. And they also didnt like the rigging, so they were going to completely gut my headlights, replace them with downgraded versions, and as far as an estimate, itll be at least 200 bucks per, but could be much much more depending if they like the set up. I stated I didnt agree with that, and he went off. Explained how I need to shut my mouth, open my ears and listen because hes the expert. I told him not to touch my car.

I went to midas on ogontz ave instead. They fixed everything for 330 dollars. and that included brakes, head light, ALIGNMENT, inspection. Also, the replacement HID bulb that Pep boys said was impossible to find and would cost hundreds, it was 25 dollars and every light dealer had it. Pep boys neglected to inform me that they dont deal in aftermarket lights, so instead of admitting that and potentially losing the 30 dollars to replace it, they lied to me and stated I NEEDED my headlights entirely replaced immediately. And they refused to pass my inspection unless i did it.

When I went to pick up my car, they had multiple people there, apologizing for the rude horrible employee Josh. They stated he gets many complaints, hes incompetant, but yet for some reason, they refuse to fire him. Also, the service manager who called me after the initial rude call was just as rude. Although he was FAR more immature. When i said the solution they offered for the light didnt make sense, he goes, 'well theres an easy solution, but im not telling you' then hung up on me.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!

Also, very funny to see that every review is AWFUL, except for one. That specific one, which is listed as great, somehow knows all the first and last names of the employees and specifically what they did for the car. AKA, it was written by an employee. Pep Boys employees dont have their last names on the name tags so there is no real reason for a customer/legit review to know them....pathetic. Yet another reason to avoid, they are scammers!!!

I had brought my receipt and was told from the first pepboys location I don't have to pay for the system reset. Came to this location first thing tried to charge me by the service manager no less.

I took my car here on Black Friday for an oil chan...

I took my car here on Black Friday for an oil change. The car was dropped off at noon and I waited all day and hadn t heard from them so I decided I should probably call, since it was 40 minutes before they closed. They told me that the car hasn t been taken in yet for the oil change so I drove over there to just wait until it was finished. My car was still sitting in the parking lot at 7:50( they close at 8) before they decided to bring it back. The car was done in less than 10 minutes which I thought was very quick. The weeks following this oil change my car started to have acceleration issues. Everytime I would press on the gas, my car would barely go above 5 mph. Going uphills was an even bigger struggle, causing traffic behind me and almost causing collisions when I would pull out of a blind driveway. I brought my car to the mechanic twice to run it on the computer and both times nothing came up. I finally brought it to the Subaru dealership when I had enough money saved and they explained that Pep Boys, in fact, did not change my oil. They added new oil mixed in with the old oil I had when I brought the car in. I have spent so much money bringing my car in thinking I had a huge issue on my hands when really it was just the imbeciles working at this location. Thank you truly for the sub par oil change that I spent money on. I am so sorry I trusted this location with my car. You are nothing more than money hungry crooks and I hope I save some people from wasting their hard earned money here. Shame on you Pep Boys.

The Service mechanics and service department at this Pep Boys are sub par. I have taken my other cars to be serviced at other pep boys and never had any problems. I took my car in about a month and a half ago and spoke to the service manager when I dropped my car off. I said verbatim, "I want you to replace the starter, the starter wires and the battery terminals on this car" Its a dodge durango, the starter is not even hard to reach. I get a call the next day from a different service manager who informs me my car is fine, they replaced the battery terminals, and they started it right up so its ok. I start to explain again what I want he quickly gets off the phone and says the service mechanic will call me back. The Service mechanic calls me back and says the problem was loose connections on the battery and he replaced those blah blah blah, he's saving me some money and its all done. The battery terminals on top of the car can be reached with the hood open, the parts cost 5 dollars, I was charged 120 dollars. I am right now as we speak doing the work on the starter myself, because the starter is worn out and needs to be replaced. I am very frustrated with Pep Boys because of their inability to listen to what I had to say and do the work I asked for. I don't want to replace the starter and had taken it in for service because I have a hand injury that is being aggravated by doing all this fine motor work. This Pep Boys Service station is sub par, take your car someone else. If you still take it here expect a week of delays and arguments to get what you need.

Services real shotti and I'll tell you something they really should make sure these young guys that are working there are not putting too much air and brand new tires for the customers are paying attention make sure that they are paying attention and doing their job right because I've had to come back to them several times to correct different situations and that's just been somebody's not paying attention

I trusted Pep Boys and I paid for it!
Here I am joining the club of unhappy customers of Pep Boys.
My original review was to debunk the theory that many people were complaining about, that Pep Boys Ridge Ave failed people for safety inspection for bogus reasons in order to increase revenue. It turns out that one repair on my XTS Cadilac was not needed in order to pass inspection like they said. The dealership verified that it was an unneeded repair at the time costing me almost $1000. I wrote it off to an innocent mistake by the mechanic.
Then yesterday I brought my work van in for inspection. I'm a former professional mechanic and it needed nothing to pass. The mechanic told the service writer that it needed front struts. I asked to see this bad strut and upon inspection it was fine and well within PA Safety Inspection Law. I presented the law to the service manager (below) and showed him it was not "severe leakage" but normal weepage as shown in the diagram below. They wouldn't budge from their position and were so unprofessional and dismissive that I wonder how many times they have been caught doing unnecessary repairs.
Now I believe all the negative comments and experiences of fellow customers feeling overcharged or bid up on repairs during inspections.
This was a real creepy and sleazy experience with Pep Boys. I will never go there again. I took my van 2 blocks away and they inspected the strut and vehicle and passed it right away.
DON'T TRUST PEP BOYS. YOU'LL PAY FOR IT TOO!

I see some bad reviews on here and I'm not sure where they're coming from.
I stopped taking my car to the dealership because it was too expensive and have had my car serviced at this Pep Boys half a dozen times. I have absolutely no complaints at all. They fix what needs to be fixed, and actually go above and beyond.
Everyone I've dealt with is very kind and curious, both in person and on the phone.
The prices are right, the service and expertise is there. I will continue taking my car here unless I'm proven wrong.
